They are really cool and caring

Mainly what players would like is more transparency regarding different topics, not only tournaments. It doesn’t really matter to the players if they are listened to if they don’t feel like they are listened to I imagine.

What would help us players have a stronger argument for bigger events like the Twister Offlines is more tournament participation (at least on NA). Throughout Blitz Masters, the NA brackets were always 4-5 teams short, and many teams did not qualify due to a lack of people wanting to participate. If more clans in NA would invest in creating strong tournament teams for professional tournaments, it would be easier to ask for something bigger. That's why my clan family has been working on training many people in tournaments. We have 2 tier 10 comp teams being assembled and more lower tier teams being worked on to give people experience in competitive play. Hopefully these actions help push the comp scene further. There are a lot of wonderful pro teams on NA and we want to give them a good challenge :)

However, the real issue is not about whether there is anything to complain about. The issue at hand is that people will just complain. Few people come to someone like Toylan and say, "We had a great comp season; here are all the things we loved about the tournament system, and here are a few issues we had and some ideas we came up with that might fix the problem." People instead go ahead and write an essay on how Blitz comp sucks and WG is a stupid company and we hate WG and tournaments are bad and your bad yada yada yada. That's not helpful in any way and just serves as a source of conflict.

At the same time, when WG decides to make a positive change, there must be adequate feedback to make the best change possible. The sheridan missile was removed from pubs because of player feedback. Platoons in ratings battles were removed/re-added (at some point) because of player feedback. Even SBMM was added based of of the feedback from players. If you want positive change, you must be persistent in offering valid, quality feedback. Otherwise a group of 40%ers will overwhelm your voices and get a bad matchmaking system added.

Read some of #important-about-tourneys, there is plenty of dialogue about what works/doesn't in the comp scene.

Here’s the difference Work, I think most of us would like to see new camos and new integrations into comp whether it be a new format or simply better community engagement such as official streams. To put it into perspective the only “new” things that have been added to comp over the past year is professional violet and green, which quite frankly only 5% of comp players can actually get, excluding us top 4 players what about the people below us who play for the spirt of the game? The NA scene has been getting worse and worse with fewer competition and nothing has been done to change that

WG is not our mom, we can't just complain once and expect them to bend over backwards to our whim. What we can do is provide positive feedback on things that work, and consistent and persistent feedback on what doesn't. WG listens when they have a clear idea of what the players want.

Your point? WG manages both things; they added rules like the Legionnaire rule to keep foreign players from interfering with other servers' tournaments. They have been fairly consistent with maintaining fair play for everyone. Some of the tanks they have balanced in the past were tanks that basically broke tournaments (7 sheridan used to be a top 8 meta).

@opaque heart when i brought up the topic yesterday about tournaments in the "other" game, i never really meant anything bad towards your efforts or your colleagues, i just find it frustrating that from an outside perspective, it seems that our game is not putting nearly as much effort to make things better and bigger unlike your "sister" company. The prize pools and content that have been constantly announced keep increasing, while ours seems to be slowly dying out or the decisions being made are making majority of the player base unsatisfied. The MM changes and the lower prize pools are perfect example in my opinion

2023 did see the most amount of money going into prize pools. Offlines concentrated the money into a smaller number of players but the overall pool was smaller.

Every player on 7STAR got ~7,000 USD for winning Twister 2019, but there were only 7 such people in the world. For Blitz Cups, each winner got 2,500 USD but there were 40 people who finished P1

this is a pretty shocking chart in the context that the prize pool for Blitz Stellar Cup 2023 is the exact same it was for Blitz [insert region] Cup 2020. if you won in fall 2023, in reality you only got 80% of the value of what the people who won BC2020 got

This is exactly what i meant a couple days ago. Lesta nailed it with the decisions that they have taken to make the competitive scene keep growing. I don't blame Tolyan or her colleagues because i am 100% certain that they try their best to make good changes, but it's impossible not to be frustrated when as a competitive player, you see the "same" game you play professionally in another region have so many more benefits and what not. I don't say this just because i want more money, but because i also want the game to grow and make it much more interesting just like any other E-sports title out there

A twisted interpretation, but I think that is ok to do, since I believe that the representatives who operate in the discord are technically tasked with gathering feedback and ofc criticism to then pass on. My belief is just that everyone else needs to be cognizant of that and not resort to more prude messages since ultimately, this discord is effectively the only medium that WG really has with actually surverying and acquiring data from the competetive environment.

Which does make me wonder, @opaque heart is it possible in the future for WG to provide a survey after every season? I feel that if you can survey the teams that have been actively participating in the e-sports, it could maybe provide a structure for recieve better and more organized feedback in the future.

The reason you saw nothing more is because it was a single elimination bracket of 4 thus playing 2 sets means there are no more teams to face in your bracket, note that top 2 teams advance, I believe it also stated at the top once you played both sets that “this team has played all matches in stage 1” or something to that affect though I could be wrong on that part because I personally did not look at it but saw it was noted on a stream

It had team(s) from each region at the time (CIS, EU, NA, APAC) that directly competed against each other in a LAN location in person. People should stop asking Wargaming to increase the prize pool because they saw the $1M prize pool from LESTA. It’s not “unfair” when the RU server’s player population is larger than NA, EU, and APAC combined and therefore the competition would be significantly fiercer. As of recent, every single WG GF tournament stream achieved relatively very few views compared to non-tournament streams, and the top teams have only gotten less competitive as players have retired and their replacements are in most cases worse. On top of that, when you consider that the vast majority of tournament stream viewers are only there for viewership rewards, it puts into perspective how irrelevant tournaments are for the general player base. The EU server, the largest server outside of RU with millions of players, managed a measly 34K total viewers during the Blitz Stellar Cup broadcast, which is somehow less than NA with a total of 37K viewers. Why is that? If there were no incentivized views, how many people would watch? 10K?

The NA server is in my experience the least competitive server. I spent a season playing with (_STR8) where the captain ran the most bizarre strategies and lineups, and most of the players hardly communicated. The roster consisted of players from amateur top 16 teams with a light tank player (me) that had effectively zero competitive experience but was the best random battle player in NA. You wouldn’t believe it if I told you that this team finished top 6. After my stint there, I went to tryout for other teams and eventually played for (-GP-). It was there which I saw how an actual team plays, and it helped me see in hindsight just how bad the teams below top 4 were. Although we didn’t finish in the top 4, we were able to take many games off of top 4 teams. This was all done with a roster of players that didn’t all speak the same language, had personal skill issues, and some had little competitive experience. We also didn’t play scrimmages much since some of us didn’t have time. Considering all of this, do you really think NA, a server with a peak active player population around 11K-12K, is worthy of a $1M prize pool or anything similar?

• Competitiveness arises when there is something to compete for. Increase prizes will result in increase in competition.
• The community is smaller on others servers than on tank blitz (ru) which obviously means that there are less people involved in tournaments, playing and watching.
• there are also rewards for watching on lesta, it's not a wg exclusive thing and players on lesta don't watch only because they are interested in tournaments.
• from what I heard ru government is boosting e-sports which might be a factor why the prize pool and focus around esport has been increased over there.
• esports and players are better promoted on ru because they have many top players and streamers which it is literally their jobs to play. Wages being lower make it possible to live off streams and now living off winning seasons.
• wg not being more generous prize pool wise isn't (imho) a money problem but more a strategy decision from executives.
A lot of companies aim for short term profit and for blitz that means smashing a -90% price tag on a 💩 offer in the store and saying it's worth 100€, selling it for 10€ while ignoring the fact that e-sports make games grow old. Imho if they invested more into the comp scene it would grow, attracting sponsors and professionalising it is far from being something that's going to happen soon but it would be nice to see steps going into the right direction.
• tolyan has been amazing as a tourney manager up to now but can only do so much, a lot of what happens isn't visible to most of us
• I don't see why stopping to ask wg to increase the prize pool is going to be better than actually doing nothing and letting things slide. Having lesta doing things and putting pressure on wg to imitate what lesta might be doing right is probably a good thing.

Also I don’t get what your metric to measure top teams skill is and I’m probably biased but I would argue that teams which are playing right now would probably beat the teams which were playing 2-3+ years ago.

NA has the smallest server population amongst all Blitz servers. it's not surprising that the most competitive player count in NA is small. a lot of that is because there's relatively little to play for currently. a larger prize pool would incentify lots of older top 4 comp players to come back, or up-and-coming comp players to train harder for a shot at it

if you have 50k to play for each season for each region exclusively, and 150k-200k for the fall season, you're gonna get a lot more players to be trying comp

Ur talking from your top 8 experiences and reflecting on it saying that it represents all the echleon’s in NA as a whole? In EU, Top 16 and even top 8 is possibly more competitive than NA top 16/8 but when it comes to top 4, NA competition is undoubtedly better. Idk if you remember when JKR scrimmed a top 4 EU team and the score wasn’t even close. It was like 12-1 or something like that. And do note that EU population in blitz is far greater than that of NA, yet an NA team beat an EU team. So your argument of RU bring more competitive due to population might apply in places where money don’t apply (top 8-32) but when it comes to top 4 where money ACTUALLY applies have you ever considered that it might be a different story? You haven’t played a single game of top 4 and while I haven’t either, I’m not the one who’s bashing the competitiveness of NA. This brings me back to the argument of increasing NA prize pools because yea, top 8/16 might not be competitive as other servers. But top 4 is potentially more competitive than other servers. EU top 4 is arguably worse than NA top 4 yet EU gets a larger prize pool. There’s no reason why the servers shouldn’t get a similar prize pool to lesta other than the fact that they don’t have funds (I doubt) or some other reason. Concerning you taking off games from a top 4 team, all I have to say is a broken clock is correct twice a day. Taking a game or two off of a top 4 team doesn’t make them bad. It’s tough to compare levels between servers anyway, both servers have different playstyle and in NA top4 you’re trying to be as good as possible vs your main opponent while on eu you have to adapt to a wider range of playstyles

It doesn’t make for the same goals when improving.
