About strvk, I think the only problem and big difference btw it and t100lt and type71 is, it’s premium tank. U need to pay a lot or lucky enough to get it. In a another hand t100lt and type 71 are researchable tank which u can grind them if u want to. Of course I think current meta is quiet balance. Almost every single tank can be used(except most of tds) . Main issue about strk is, it truly give some advantage to players who pay it. Dpm on team fight, mobility, even though Hp, strv not just has highest dpm but also highest hp on dpm tanks. Personally I think, the best way to balance strv is remove his special provisions(sand pack). A dpm tank shouldn’t have more than 2500 hp otherwise they just use dpm and hp to smash all others tank ez. And it’s payed-tank. Which is unfair to those free to play tournaments players.
So that’s why we don’t see strv K spam tactics, without apa, which they use 4or 5. Boz it’s payed. Imagine if strv K is researchable tank, everyone will use like we did with t100lt and type 71 before. And there is not point to say “u have time to prepare to against ”, meta is meta only Boz it’s overpowered. If it can be easily countered, it can’t be meta. Like we knew t100lt was meta, type 71 was meta. Why u are using it all time instead of use counter tank? Boz there is no counter tank. That’s all

Generally the counters to high dpm tanks is high alpha and out trading them, or a combination of armor and hp. But neither 60TP or E 100/VK72 are truly effective because they just suffer too much in the other areas, being gun handling on 60TP and armor/dpm on E 100/VK72. They could work on some maps but just aren’t good enough as tanks overall to be meta on every map

Lol it’s not cheating and it’s not buying skill, it’s simply using resources provided to the best of your ability… strvs are how ppl decide to play, you don’t have to nor need to play them and if you’re losing then it’s likely due a skill gap, strat difference, or execution… if you see you’re losing don’t blame it on a tank or someone else, blame it on yourself and look at what happens to cause your team to lose and try and fix it… the tank itself is still just a tank, it still takes a good player to play it well for it to be a good asset. At the end of the day if someone played a 113 well and it became meta you’d likely see ppl complain about that too… “oh it’s broken” “oh it needs a nerf” ect

Thats the thing, they designed the tank for the average player who would whale for it during Christmas. In Fall 2022 meta a high dpm tank with so little alpha and requires going hull down to not instantly melt is useless for an average player. Thats why it was given so much hp, sandbags, speed boost, the usual crutches. A better player can and will take advantage of it, and thats why you see it so much in comp. WG designs new tanks to be strong, but I think it exceeded their design expectations - hence its actually an accident

We’re not in the era of companies pushing pay to win content in a free game anymore, that just drives players away from the game. Broken premium tanks are stupid from both a balance and a financial standpoint, and if you look at the next few Christmas tanks after T-22 (VK90, M4 54, Concept 1B) while they’re strong none of them instantly took over the meta. Nowhere near the same extent the free tanks like Yoh, 60TP and Type 71 did.

The point is, a good competition should be like no meta at all. WG designer and balancer should avoid op tank. ofc it's difficult to implement on practice but the idea is every tank should have chance to participate on tournament. for example. if u need dpm, u go sk, if u need mobility, u go sk, if u need mobility and dpm, sk. what about 95e6 or 113? Actually sk is a super prime version of t95e6 and 113

Actually I think strv with speed booster is fine if consider its not well armored. But a highest dpm tank with 2556hp is totally unacceptable
My idea is: Even tho meta tank exist but it shouldn't be exist.

Lol. I feel that the current meta is pretty fun and diverse (almost every heavy can be used). Most comp teams have players that buy tanks like the STRVK anyways. I don’t think it’s much of a problem as comp players will still do anything that’s within the rules to achieve their aims. That’s just how life works. A decent counter to Strvks are to run high alpha and high HP tanks (what DragonKrieg suggested). 60TPs and VK72s paired with clippers are pretty good.

In comp, it’s not really about the tank. It’s about the focus fire, team coordination, and individual mech skills that either makes or breaks a team.

From what i've seen, strvs are only rewarding when played correctly, and this season has already shown what happens when a sub-par team mistreats their strvs as if it’s some magical win button.

Obv the strv is prob the most popular tank, and for good reason, but its a huge improvement to when the t100 and type was spammed.

I wouldn't say all top 4 is even. EU top 4 is definitely more competitive compared to NA rn. Especially because the top two teams on NA essentially haven't changed for at least two years now. We have seen a lot more change in EU top 4 than we have in NA top 4. One might say NA top 4 is locked in place besides the 4th spot. Then again, doesn't matter to me 🤷🏻‍♂️

@opaque heart Hey Tolyan, I have a question about the cup settings. Why this time the cup is different by pys tournament? I mean why pys4 has more cups than pys1 instead of we used before that all pys has same cups. On Chinese server this mechanic is used for while but like nobody likes it. If Team A during the whole season playing well, then in pys4 by accident they fk up. Then all tryhard they've made on pys1 2 3 is useless boz pys4 earn more cups than pys1+2+3. I wonder the reason why to use this cup setting

In previous seasons the servers with lower number of participants run into the issue of having predetermined qualifiers too early for the top 8 stage (like 1 entire PYS at least) when the number of cups given is the same at each PYS. The current system only have them on day 2 of PYS #4.

I don't know why teams that qualify for the top8 and top16 tournaments are required to participate in the Pro or Challenger tournament. As a result, teams in every sport can withdraw from the competition because it is a competition. We are all human. And if teams finally “get serious” as you say, then did the other teams even deserve the position they were hypothetically in? If you drop the ball, you dropped the ball, coming from someone who knows. I don’t complain that we had JKR (#1 NA team) in our bracket 5 of the 8 nights we played (and we still had solid seeding), because we still had other opportunities, and we didn’t capitalize on those. So who cares if we had bad luck otherwise (and arguably the worst luck of any top 16 team on NA as far as brackets are concerned)?

Like for example in Asia a team managed to get ticket to top 16 by just playing pys 4 while theres like 6 other teams playing their hardest and stayed consistent and some instantly got knocked out from challengers because of how the system works.

I think at least the cup spread should be balanced between all PYS so things like this wouldnt happen. At least with equal spread the games should be alot more fair to decide to continue.

Absolutely. But in tournaments, nothing matters but winning in those important matches, and if you snooze, you lose.

Keep in mind that WG changed the cup spread to prevent another issue which was when teams would quit mid-season because there was no other chance to reach their goal. With this growing cup spread, it keeps everyone relevant up until the very end of qualifiers which is how it should be (since it makes it more exciting and encourages greater participation).

I think the example shows it is better to assign a higher base number of cups just like what EU did with days 1 and 2. In this case, we can assign 5000 base cups in each PYS (add 5000 cups to each position) day 1. In this case, we can avoid a situation whereby teams only need to play the last 2 PYS in order to play Challengers.

I personally like to see a higher importance put to the last couple of PYS with higher number of cups. As some people said, it prevents teams from dropping out too early plus it avoids teams not playing the last few PYS when they are mathematically safe

Even thought this cup setting has been used in Chinese server for a while but tbh, no one likes it. additionally, Chinese server pys tournament group match system is a disaster which they call "random" but everyone knows it's "death group" match making, last pys they put 2th and 7th in same group, 9th and 10th same group.
absolutely disaster after all. Chinese server has 6 pys tournament. Last pys weight as same as pys1-4. Even the difference of cups on last pys is 3500(1st gets 7k, 2nd gets 3500).

we set different tier to team. t1 t2... for example, base on their pys games win rate. Teams on same tier will not meet each other.
example: team wr (or pys game win rate)more than 70%, t1. 65-70, tier2. 60-65, tier3. 55-60, tier4, 50-55 tier5, less than 50, tier6.
first pys game we seeding base on team tier10 tanks winrate. But from pys2, seeding start base on previous pys games team win rate.

So team have good seeding no longer boz they have good winrate. But boz they tryhard and gets good winrate on previous pys games

I watched the stream of the APAC server. On the European server, top4 teams do nothing but bounce, but on the APAC server, top4 teams have too many mistakes and they think they're playing well.

Every server has their challenges, so APAC does too - not least of which is the amount of timezones, the amount of ping and the fact that they're the smallest server so have a harder time finding various training partners

there is a kind of a huge ditch between doing a few mistakes, bouncing a few shots per Bo and rushing a Maus with 4 guys only to kill him when you are just 2 alive in your team, bouncing all 7 shots on a single guy, not being able to use a joystick when you play t100lt on Mali, not being able to focusfire or bleed efficiently, what you would see in a best of from Ernezd on EU is usual gameplay on ASIA and it happens each Bo if not each game

Tbf it's N0MAD's 3rd season so they are still quite new to the CW scene. Plus, APAC server is currently at its low point in competitiveness, but N0MAD still have worked hard for this season. No doubt they are far from their best tonight but I'm sure there are a lot of positives to take during the season and they have a lot of mistakes that they can avoid making next season.

I think it's easy to criticise N0MAD for their performance tonight but it's also important to know the context too.

Replying to the point that Sp1t made, registering a team on APAC doesn't give you free money as the teams on APAC server have trained considerably for the season. Not even the champion of the Chinese server as far as I am aware is able to get top 4 this season.

I don't necessarily disagree with a different spread between servers based on participating teams (as that kind of shows how many teams you have to "fight through" to get top 1.
