I believe that the experimentation with new tournament formats is a good thing overall, at least on NA server. We saw much more participation because it was less of a time commitment. Obviously the more serious teams still trained, but perhaps now some new serious teams will arise. I think that for the game and the comp scene in general, more teams is always better.

I could definitely see alternating these Single-qualifier tournaments with full seasons, such as Spring Season, Summer Blaster, Fall Season, Winter Blaster. New types of tournaments attract more attention and therefore more players.

So I guess overall, thanks to the people at wargaming for trying new things and doing their best to make it go smoothly, in spite of some of the flaws. Best of luck to all teams who have qualified for the final stages.

in the past it was too much qualifiers, now it's too little, I think in general the seasons should be spread out over longer periods, like imo make them 2 months long and do like 2-3 days a week of games, apart from the final stage where you get round robin that is a little bit more intensive, but that's just my opinion, like I think the issue is not the amount of time you need to invest in total, but moreover how dense the playing schedule is, that's just my opinion tho.

Also seeding in the current format has way too big of an impact, but I have faith cus things are being experimented with and the community and WG are moving towards each other more and more, in big part courtesy of @opaque heart, so once again Tolyan, I have good hopes for future tournaments now, thanks for what you are doing, 🙂

I think that’s a good point. I doubt there’s a one-size-fits-all format (there almost never is) but I could see an extended season working for a lot of players if the schedule isn’t as dense, as you said.

You could easily change formats throughout the year as well. Autumn is classically the main season which should be an extended season. Spring also has long been considered a major season. In between many shorter (or medium long) tournaments could be hosted. In my opinion there is more room if these smaller “money blaster style” tournaments are the future: you can easily hold 2 in between spring and autumn and 2 more during winter (or 2 medium sized ones).

The wr based seeding has turned the tourney too much into favouring rerolls, since its much easier to farm higher wr in bot mm. This is one major issue which need to be fixed especially when format is as short as this. Also the small outcome/no challenger final is a big minus for this tourney. And ofc fix the rules regarding how to select top8 - or clearly state there will be no top8 if too few teams.

Can be minimized by finally using tournament result for seeding. Start first round with groups of 8 RR with X advancing. Next stage seeding is determined based on placement in groups and game differential.

WR seeding for the first round, at least in EU, is good enough in absence of an ELO type system. However the proceedings of the tournaments should not follow this WR seeding any longer. In later stages WR seeding offers way to many mismatches, whereas the control is with the teams themselves more if the results of the previous stage determines seeding for the next.

Wr based is fine but the issue is it’s not a weighted number with battle count being huge. I still stand by the idea that weighted win rate of only the tier of the tournament is the best thing they can do until there’s an elo system

To be honest the idea of @upbeat iris is good (I mean the one in which he says to maybe host 2 tournaments in winter and summer). But first I'd honestly make a determined format of tournament like the PyS one, including also a "Last chance tournament" to make equal number of teams per group and avoid these problems you are facing these days (top8 with 6 teams/top32 with 22 teams - at least for EU server).
One last point about rerolls which heavily change the seeding of different teams. I'd just make higher the amount of battles required to 4k or 5k, like it's been said back in the last year.
That's my opinion so feel free to be critic to this

After some time leader of tournament team made a tournament room and there is 3 of us, when 5 is needed so the game would find opponents. In a mean time I can play nothing else. I think that map needs some rework because when teams play for opposite sides, it’s nearly impossible to make a rush, just defending side has too many advantages every time. It’s not really a problem tho, just needs a different playstyle but just want to say my opinions

I do love Canal, but more to play on. As a tour map, it's definitely interesting to spectate, but it does lead to a lot of stalemates, that's for sure

This isn't a solution to the problem, it's a workaround. If, as in our case, no team was available for the final, you could at least have paid out the proceeds up to the last game instead of just 25%. In addition, they could set a waiting limit where we can say, well, we were unlucky that we didn't have an opponent for the final.

Since 7v7 is less organised, there are less teams that register in this tournaments type. Clans train less. Before there were 7v7 4 times in a week. Now it is only 1.
2v2 and 3v3 are organised, but 7v7 make players more loyalty to the clan system. Even if it is a no clan registration, it is way more easier to organise a 7v7 when you are in the same clan.
Actually I am sad about that 7v7 are only 1 time on a week.

For the record, (and saying it here because it's been requested to not continue the topic in the other channel) I'm not going to restream the official stream. I don't see the added value of that. Wg made their choice.
Us streamers have shared our thoughts and feelings about it on the streamer server we've got. It's definitely disappointing, to say it lightly, but in the end, it's Wg's call to make, not ours.
