This is a format that has only been used in winter and summer so far, so we should expect spring and fall to remain the same for the time being. Winter and summer are kinda regarded as “smaller” seasons so it makes sense for WG to experiment using them. 👍

It will most likely be based on CP like in a regular season, or in other words, a team's winrate over the course of the tournament. A team that has won 7/8 should advance in place of a team that has won 6/8, for example. If you recall how it functioned in Money Blaster back in winter, BLM- and 4PX were added to the top 16 list based on the above measurements. This makes winning games a priority, so losing a match 1-2 is better than losing 0-2, and winning a match 2-0 is better than 2-1.
