By not facehugging in an IS-7, and positioning yourself closer to teammates and cover, you can drastically reduce the chance any opponent can hit and penetrate the IS-7’s turret cheeks. Facehugging also exposes your hull to any non-facehugged enemy if done in most situations.

Hanging back a bit not only protects your tank more, but gives you more opportunities to farm damage and support your teammates, leading to more victories

The turret cheeks don’t need a buff because you’re trying to change its optimal role in battle

the majority of well armoured heavies at tier 8 are already perforated by 260-270 HEAT, no need for 303mm, and even worse since youre massively lowering your DPM to below HT levels, plus considering that you have a massive unarmoured cupola, most heavies will be able to simply trade with you shot for shot

Panther can penetrate the 7 at over 500m pretty fine but not really a choice if youre playing anything other than high velocity weapons or bunker busters

im sorry no a panther like a tiger with better ballistic performance at range could not succesfully and reliably at that penetrate the mk VII, it was deemd finally the tank that could take the brunt of the big cats with that 152mm frontal armour, much like the M4A3E2 was the US army's saviour

tiger to give an idea had around 130mm of penetration with standard *since its normandy almost if not any tungsten rounds were available for the germans, none) and 2) the panther coming in 1st with 140mm or so with standard at 500m tho inclined at 30 if I recall, anyways I still bet the panther would struggle as it was like the tiger a solid block of steel 152mm thick no inclination nothing, pure hardness

this is most likely the 0 degrees when hit angle, so realistically the chances you face your adversay at a perfect 0 degrees, is unlikly, none the less the panther did have an extremely highvelocity gun and the shorter the range the better, so yes in theory, tho 170? na make it 160mm, still it did have big penetration. I am speaking about the tests done in my books where its states the panther having 140mm of penetration on the normal pzgrenaten 39/43 at 130mm angled at 30 degrees against RHA

because usually the 30 degree angle was concidered peek angling and so wanted a gun that could reliably penetrate such an angle, but sure lets go lower, even tho to get a a tank 30 degrees to your right or left is pretty easy, literally the track area where it starts the sprocket wheel, thats about 30

anyways at 0 degrees from a statistics table my side it says the panther had 168mm of penetration at 500m 0 degrees, this goes down with slight angles and well, sometimes and rather a lot of the times it wasnt slight, the churchills armor plating on the side was particularly daunting to get through, I dont need to explain why, so yes a panther could, 500m tho? with a tank actively supporting infantry and having anti tank guns tauil it? not likely, but it could, but still at 0 degrees or near
