Something that I can’t stand is people saying that it was unsuccessful but leaving out why it was
“It shot at an IS-2 multiple times and did nothing to it” but then leave out the part that the shells supplied to it were poorly made and defective

I’m not gonna be all Finnish bias and say “oh if it just had shells that actually worked it’d be the best tank ever” but you can’t blame the tank for poor performance when the shells were defective

And real life performance doesn’t affect how it plays in the game

There are a lot of tanks I like but idk if any really rise head and shoulders above the rest. I generallh don't like the aesthetics of most Soviet tanks and the fairly awful crew conditions even by tank standards on many further put me off of most of them.

I mean to name some I like the Pershing, the Sherman, the Chieftain, the MBT 70, the Type 10 as mentioned above, the T29, the Panzer III, the M103, the Type 74, the ZTQ-15. Just to name to smattering of vehicles from WW2 to modern I rather like.

I also like the M48 Patton weirdly enough but the M103 is just that but cooler and chonkier so I wouldn't include it

M103 I started to think is cool pretty recently after I noticed of all the tanks I’ve seen I haven’t seen one of those surprisingly I’ve been to bovington and seen many US tanks around here
I actually live an hour away from the only surviving T26E4

But it’s just simply the upgraded Pershing not the super Pershing with the armor plates only one received those modifications but that one no longer exists they scrapped it somewhere in Europe : (

Yea from what I read only one T26E4 made it to Europe (that one was the super Pershing with the armor plates) the other 24 the war ended before they were able to be sent over and they were used as firing range targets sadly

Yeah everyone realized there were benefits to flat angled surfaces both for protection and ease of applying add on packages like composite panels and ERA. There was a lot more variety when people were still figuring stuff out or had to compromise because of old tech or scarce resources

I mean the majority of older tanks look kinda crap to me and frankly many were crap because technology wasn't caught up yet. Modern MBTs have common aesthetics sure but that aesthetic is better to me than many older tanks.

Russian tanks are mostly slammed for not incorporating basically any of the features that make other modern MBTs have shockingly high crew survival rates. Yes including their ammo racks, lack of blowout panels, etc. Frankly the low profile in the modern era is a negligible advantage.

We don't really need to. We know the capabilities and Russian tanks are simply lacking even just in the basic specs. They can knock out NATO tanks don't get me wrong, gun works fine. But technologically they are playing catchup and their tanks have a tendency to be lost with crew deaths when disabled. NATO tanks have exceedingly high crew survival rates and a tendency to actually be recoverable. Even in Ukraine (really don't want to get to into this because touchy topic) we have seen recently Leopards be disabled, crew bails, vehicle gets recovered for repairs once line moves up enough.

Honestly I think their biggest issue besides poor combined arms tactics is the lack of crew survivability. They just have no way to get and keep experienced crews which combined with vehicle losses has to be seriously hampering effectiveness.

The T design is naturally incredibly anti crew comfort because they had to cater to the old hulldown doctrine the design needed for the height limit heavily impacts the tanks internals and as a result even the crew have to be of a certain height The T-15 would have been a massive step in the Right direction but we all know they never got it off the ground combined with reports of inexperienced crews being assigned to literally any vehicle even the fresh T90s

Not saying there isn't a lot of waste, there is. But again, basically a bottomless budget until it becomes politically advantageous to audit and cut projects. Literally the story behind the god dam MPF for the last 60 years ever since the Sheridan the US was incredibly worried about the Bmp and wanted an airborne- amphibious light tank which lead to the Sheridan being built (and T92 being canned ) because they wanted to use the missile it turned out to be really crap and horrible and they wanted a replacement almost immediately they then set up another project called RDF/LT and the HSTV which was supposed to be airborne and mount a automated 76mm auto gun but it also got rejected and shutdown before they moved onto another airborne project ( mgs Stryker was the result ) the M8 Buford was made which suited all of their needs perfectly but they rejected it again

WZ-114, 752, and 252U are all fine since I prefer heavies, Bourrasque is fine though not my usual thing as a very light autoloader, Helsing and SU-130PM definitely not my thing and not even something I'm really interested in.

It's also getting me to sell my low tier collector tanks I never play for gold which frees up space. I'll aim to buy them back over time because I like collecting them but it's better short term to have the slots open.

A lot of people spam premium ammo, TVP divisions exist, people often seem to play excessively passively and if you try to break that passive standoff a firing squad (sometimes with a 183) awaits you. Probably doesn't help that I have spent more of those games in tier 9s than 10s

Actually the Tiger I, despite its flaws, could reach pretty decent speeds irl. Comparable to many medium tanks of the era. The Tiger II however very much could not.

But what’s even more interesting is designs where they actually went through with it enough to make a fully working tank of it but the for one reason or another decided not to produce more or use it

This happened a lot with US heavy tanks the M6,T29,T95,T34,T30 and M103 the last one actually being built and put in service

You have to pay attention to each tanks ammo stats. Ive found a few where prem rounds are best to run. FV4202 is prime example. Couple Soviet TD's as well. Smasher and KV-2 got to love that derp shells

Unfortunately I doubt that is going to happen. They have a proper vendetta against low tier tanks so I don't see them splitting the European tree anytime soon. And they very much should imo, any nation with at least two lines like the Italians and Czechs should have their own dedicated tree imo

I have nothing but respect for the devs that make the tanks but imo somebody at the decision making level is cutting some corners by not having dedicated trees for those two nations.

I don't really get the hostility to low tiers tbh. I don't really play below tier 3 ever and honestly it's rare I play 5 or below. But I don't think there is anything wrong with them existing. When I started the game years ago I sincerely enjoyed playing through the M2 Medium, the Panzer III A, etc. I feel like we lost a bit by streamlining the early tiers as much as they did even if it makes stuff more convenient. But that'st just my opinion

Yea removing the low tier tanks in the existing ones was probably to make tier 1-4/5 just a straight line (but that was long before I started playing some of those tanks I wish I could get)
Adding new EU tech trees they’d also be straightforward too probably splitting off at tier 5 just like the current EU line

Not really the fault of running rammer but it made no real difference when I needed the dpm against 2 meds rushing me

It still bothers me bow they butchered the T42. I'm all for tweaks for balance but they basically threw the historical specs in the trash to force it at tier 7.

It should basically be a non autoloading T69 because the T69 was a modification of the T42 but they absolutely gutted the armor and cranked up the mobility. I don't play for realism obviously but it does make me sad when an existing design gets made basically unrecognizable.

Funky fact before the tiger 131 was restored it did actually have the big numbers with white outlines and German cross symbol that people call “inaccurate” since the one in game looks different than how it does today
