#Episode 8 The Finale

I am technically correct; the best kind of correct
This episode was Meh for me. Some cool fight scenes and some silly ones. Huge plot hole in how Grogu gets away from the group to save Din. I get the same energy of Grogu jumping around on a lighting fixture as Leia running away from her kidnappers in Kenobi. Overall the episode was an overload of rule of cool. The whole season completely subverted what had been built up the first 2 seasons.
If there’s one thing that is always consistent in Star Wars, there will always be “fans” that want to complain about it.
Again, the Darksaber being broken is an easy fix if Bo needs it. She knows a gal.
With a certain droid too
Then you haven't read it.
Which I can tell because this is specifically called out in the first paragraph.
Omg when grogu takes the creed
“Forever will the creed dominate my destiny” 😂
I wanted Grogu to say "This is the Way" just at the end to show the Armorer she's not always right lol
In fairness the Armorer might not even claim she was right.
She would say the Creed was right.
Which is why when Din Djarin brings up the Creed in his discussions with her he actually has half a change of making his point and getting her to agree with him.
True, but it might've been surprising enough to make her eyes pop out of her helmet lol
No, I didn't read it, because I don't care all that much. It's my opinion that it wasn't the strongest episode, and I didn't like the tropiness. You're welcome to have a different opinion.
My opinion is "you don't know what the word trope means"
You're really taking this way too seriously.
I didn't like it. My view. You liked it. Your view. Both totally fine.
I don't know why you're trying to convince me my opinion is wrong.
Not at all. You didn't like it, that's fine. Saying that it's "too tropey" without knowing what a trope is means you're trying to find a way to justify your dislike that sounds like you've got a well thought out reason for disliking it and that your position is more valid than the opposing one.
This is going on on Twitter, I had to stop looking I was getting so mad,
Why do you care if I have a well thought out reason or not? It doesn't affect you in the slightest, and it's really weird that you're pushing so hard on this.
I care because it's really funny to watch you do this.
It had some really fun parts. It had some parts I thought were dumb and contrived. Overall, meh, for me.
It's been running long enough now that people are expecting to be blown away by it like they were with season 1, so we're starting to see the early portion of the same mentality that lead to the backlash against the prequels. Plus Grogu being a character everyone knows now means it's cool to hate the popular thing. Plus Twitter is a cesspit of culture war stuff, and generally best avoided for media discussion at this point.
Let's move along.
How do I get that move along gif to appear....?
YOU'RE A LET'S MOVE ALONG
I miss the old days, it was so much fun then.
BUT
I am learning a valuable lesson, just stop looking at the rumors
Twitter has never been reality.
You're a never been reality, because you've been running through my dreams all the time
Oh baby
Oh and I think Bird just told us to touch grass.
Sir, we live in a desert.
There’s like 5 more minutes of green season in CA. 🤣
Like I get the meme but that's... not even slightly true.
Yeah because this weekend is going to kill all the green
lol
@lusty oracle order obeyed
I was tempted to give a number one sign. Hehe
I'll admit it did feel good.
@versed inlet YOUR TURN GO
Soon, I am working
Still I wouldn't be surprised to see a clone of his come back to haunt us.
That would be ridiculously boring
🤷♂️
Well @versed inlet we're waiting 😛
I only touch grass to murder it. 😈
Now guess which finger I used.
I approve of this malicious compliance.
I think she’s saying we’re #1…
Oh I'm saying something
Trick question, you cut off a finger from one of your enemies and used that.
yep Im on the side of let Gideon stay dead, move on to the next chapter. Good way to see it all out the door
I cackled this time
That would beg the question of "what was the big deal with the cloning experiments?" If we don't have at least 1 clone of him walking around, I'll be upset that the subplot wasn't used.
I love you too
Hey I know that grass!
Right back at you Burb 😘
Nuh uuuhhhh
Yeah
Tell me
Bruh, I don't even know, it's the grass in the park of my condo.
Nice try lol
My grandma lived in Laguna Niguel wanted to see how far
While I agree with your take, we do have thematic relevance in that the cloning experiments being self serving add to the character portrait of Moff Gideon as an angry copycat.
This is a man who feels like he is entitled to be just as powerful as the Imperials whose boots he probably licked for years.
The Empire falls, he takes control of a remnant and gets to promote himself from ISB agent to Moff.
He starts dressing like Darth Vader with armor and a cape, wanting to make himself look just as scary.
And presumably knowing that Palpatine has been obsessed with cloning himself for a long time, Gideon decides to make clones of his own self as well.
He also disparaged cloning earlier in the episode, showing the two faced nature even among his peers and allies. He’s a pretender who knows he’s a pretender and is desperately trying to hide it.
He just needs to listen to The Monkees and look at Bo Katan….
… then he saw her face… now he’s a believer….😝😂
Yeah, Gideon’s been playing Vader Copycat for a long time
Dressing similarly to Vader, carrying a lightsaber, his Beskar-alloy Dark Trooper armor making him physically stronger, and finally (though really ever since Season 1) trying to make Force-sensitive clones of himself
And then he keeps running into Mandalorians and decides to copy them too, with Beskar Alloy armor complete with the ka’rta beskar (Iron Heart), Mando-style helm, and gauntlets with Mandalorian tools/weapons
He even paraphrased Vader! "I will deal with him myself."
Why doesn’t Din Grogu have a helmet or head covering?
He can’t talk yet. The Armorer won’t give him one until he can swear the Creed himself.
So what level is he? Foundling? Apprentice? Or just a son?
What level do you earn the helmet?
The helmet comes when he can speak the words at the waters like Ragnar Visla did.
I’m not sure how the adoptee vs apprentice thing works or whether once a foundling, always a foundling.
Grogu is an apprentice now, because his parent Din Djarin requested an exemption.
Based on the conversation between Din Djarin and the Armorer, foundlings are generally supposed to take the Creed before becoming apprentices. However if the parents of the foundling request for the foundling to be trained as an apprentice prior to taking the Creed, this is allowed.
The exception can only be made with parental approval however—not mentor/teacher approval. So Din Djarin formally adopted Grogu as his son per Mandalorian law. Thus the exception could be made.
There are no gifs of Axe Woves from Season 3 yet this is a crime against all Mandalorians.
I agree
Sir Woves was a hero and possibly now a dad
And got like 10 times hotter
Just saying
I don't make the rules
Axe Woves: Teaches Ragnar stuff
Koska Reeves: amused And you told me you weren’t that good with kids!
Axe Woves: He’s old enough to shave, that makes him a tiny adult.
Not being a traitor or spy definitely helped lol
I love how their were no Mandalorian traitors, we’re just all biblically illiterate.
This should be canon
Man did it help a lot
I love (not really) that no one from Lucas films came to tell us we were all wrong till AFTER
They probably were like “we could correct this…BUT some of these people criticize us constantly online. Let’s let them twist themselves into knots for a week, only to find out they were totally wrong”.
The perfect haha!
It was fun having more to talk about.
It really was though
What I also want to be canon is that when Axe and Koska realized Bo Katan really wasn’t going to go after Din and challenge him to single combat for the Darksaber, they decided there needed to be a mutiny and one of them was going to take command of the fleet.
Then they had a private fight in one of the light cruiser back rooms to figure out which one it would be. They duked it out until Axe won.
Then they did the mutiny.
Solving mysteries and detective work gives those feel good juices.
Did someone from Lucasfilm say anything about it?
So just a silly bit but kiddo pointed out that the chair Din Djarin is sitting in at the end is one we just saw at Costco last week. 🤣
BACK TO COSTCO!
I saw something on Twitter
Space-Kirkland
… until you realize they were probably following all the theories and planning to adapt the best ones to future projects…
We really are
You are!
^^ not inspirational
Some of the home cooking photos you post inspire me to be hungry.
This is correct
Also this would mean I'm wrong.
I am not wrong. You are inspiring even if you don't think you are.
(Playing Star Wars RPG)
GM: ... he is a trader.
Us in the Party: A traitor? To the Empire or the Rebellion?
GM: Neither. He is a smuggler selling goods.
Us in the Party: Oh.... trader, not traitor.
So Din Grogu should have a helmet
no because in order to wear a helmet you must be able to speak the creed, Grogu cannot
Shouldn't it be SIR Din Grogu? He WAS knighted after all.
Grogu: internally I’m keeping that card in reserve. To play when it’s needed.
This is the way.
But in order to become apprentice you must speak the creed. This gets negated by Parental consent. So, the level of apprentice come with the helmet. So, Sir Din Grogu needs a helmet?
Honestly the entire show will fall apart if Grogu starts talking lol
Speaking the Creed does not mean you immediately become an apprentice.
Ragnar Vizsla spoke the Creed (most of it anyway, before his ceremony was interrupted) and put on a helmet permanently. But when he was carried off by the winged dragon beast and they had to rescue him, everyone referred to him as a foundling. He wasn’t an apprentice yet.
Based on the conversation between Din Djarin and the Armorer, becoming an apprentice depends on your competence and capability. When your mentor/teacher deems you ready to become an apprentice, they petition for your advancement, and it becomes formally approved.
After Grogu survived three praetorian guards and protected Din Djarin and Bo Katan from the explosion (without passing out, just sitting down) I think Din decided Grogu was ready.
Arguably didn’t finish the ceremony so didn’t advance to apprentice. Therefore he was still a foundling. It wasn’t till the end of the season that they finished the ceremony and this advancing Ragnar to apprentice
Sure why not.
It can be whatever you want it to be.
ok hear me out
grogu>Praetorian guards (or at least survived)
praetorian guards>paz
paz>axe
axe<bo
bo>din
so theoretically
this is their strength levels
bo & grogu
din
guards
paz
axe
Any other sources than just this YouTube video?
I was pretty bummed out that the rumors of Moff Gideon using Mauls recovered saber in the final fight didn't pan out, got super close with the double sided electric staff thing though lol.
Ooooo
This didn't age well lmao
There's zero chance he survived
His armor doesn't completely cover his body so anything not covered would have been immolated
Zero chance that Gideon survived. But doesn't mean Gideon is gone.
lets be honest, he's either gonna return looking like walmart Darth Vader or he has other clones.
Fennec Shand came back with robot guts after being shot and left for dead in a desert for a whole day. At this point I'm not surprised by anyone coming back to life in Star Wars.
As a firefighters daughter I had to suspend some disbelief.
But I did. And the bubble scene was pretty.
Was it a full day? I don't know. And while deadly, I honestly doubt that wound was instantly lethal. That kid was not as competent as he thought himself to be lol
As a hunter if you gut shot a deer, they can go quite a while and run a long ways. In fact your lucky if you find it. That is the equivalent of what fennec had, while not fun it is survivable. I'll argue the full day as well
Once again, I get to recommend watching Our Flag Means Death!
Fennec is also very strong. Me? Nope I'd die instantly. But I believe her surviving it.
Gideon would have cooked inside his armor.
Although if he fell maybe he'd get out of the flames quick enough.
That armor he likes so much might just be permanent now.
A nasty thing to happen to him, for sure.
Nothing that site ever claims ages well.
I think the counterpoint to all that is "somehow, Gideon returned".
I doubt they'll do that
Nah they'd put more effort in. I like the mustache idea even if it is very silly.
I’m just thinking about something
How was Gideon able to ||literally crush the Darksaber in his hand?||
power armor enhancing his strength
Enough to break beskar?
Thought the whole point of Beskar was that it’s incredibly strong
Not like, so brittle that enhanced armor can make a rather lanky, senior dude shatter a solid chunk of it
The enhanced armor itself being made of beskar is likely a factor.
right. the saber isn't solid beskar, so the beskar armor crushed it into the hollow spaces for the guts.
and now I've said beskar too much and it sounds weird
LOL same. I dunno I just feel like if it was that simple, how did nobody shatter the Darksaber sooner?
Theoretically any force-sensitive would just be able to shatter it if they managed to get it in their grasp, no?
Where are you getting that it's made of beskar? No where does it say that
Considering it was forged by a Mandalorian, I’d assume it was only natural, plus
Source is a Rebels guidebook, so that’s canon
Even so I don't find it unbelievable, it was likely not very thick as it had to house all of the components of a lightsaber
Also beskar is the most plot armor that ever plot armored lol
Din's helmet doesn't take a scratch from being repeatedly punched by a dark trooper but Boba Fett has a dent in his from..... What?
Cad Bane shot him in the helmet.
https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2022/02/10/how-did-boba-fett-get-the-dent-in-his-helmet/
With what? The Death Star laser?
Just passing along the info.
Is Bane’s blaster an especially high “caliber”?
Cause then at least there’d be some explanation
Like I said, beskar is the most plot armor that ever plot armored lol
It's worth seeking out the animatic of it because it's a pretty fun scene.
Id boba’s helmet even beskar? Remember he used Jangos as an IEP. Thats the replacement helmet.
Good point.
The Clone Wars Mace Windu figure comes with the helmet broken in half with a thermal detonator inside it, which is cute.
Upon a rewatch, Gideon mentions that the armor is Beskar alloy
Which explains why Bo could fight most of the commandos with the saber, and why blasters seemed somewhat effective, even if shots didn’t go between armor plates
But also calls into question this idea
I've seen it
It's also possible Boba used a fake helmet as a decoy
This is kind of what I always thought happened.
Mando’s porch chair is in the current Costco Connection. 😂
I tried to find it on their page, but couldn’t. 😂
Somewhere, in some Costco, this chair is there.
And I hope that someone with Mando cosplay will find out about it, and go there in full getup with a Grogu doll and a little toy frog.
To recreate the scene.
And if they do it first thing in the morning they can probably snap a few photos before the actual Costco shoppers get ornery.
I’m going to Costco later. I wonder if I could get my Bo Katan helmet and Grogu in. 🤣 Also, my shirt today is appropriate.
If you do, just tell them that your mandalorian boyfriend didn’t get you a chair to sit in his porch. 😂
Too bad they don’t have the squishy Grogu plushies any more!
Oh I remember that
They had Grogu squishmallows
It is $60 at our local warehouse.
Not bad for a wood chair
