They're what lets you rank up to the next tier, you gain them by playing Escalation, and lose them if you fail it.
There's also something else planned for their use eventually, but there's no info on that yet.

Printer filament per SHD point=45
3000/45=66.66 SHD points required(round up to 67)

vs

Credits per SHD point=34,500
Cheapest mod from WH vendor=4516 credits (which gives 6 filament when deconstructed)
3000/6=500 mods required
500*4516=2,2580,000 credits required
2,258,000/34,500=65.44 SHD points required

Extra damage will always be worth more than weapon handling, unless a weapon does so much more damage but is so bad that you must improve it via weapon handling.
If it's skill issue, go with extra damage.

If you complete one you get a broken shd watch AND a certain faction based material (dog tags from true sons etc) so you can either get them from any retaliation or craft them from other factions materials and convert them into which material you need.

If you want to grind for expertise, you need to wait for either this Expertise Surge event or double material gain from deconstructing.

I suppose grinding expertise during double material gain event isnt as fast as expertise surge but still better than nothing.

Just do more stuff with Hyenas as enemies, it doesn't boost the retaliation or anything, just saves up to 3 you can run back to back
