running countdown with both exotics ones you need to level, and every other slot being a named piece of gear
if you dont need anything else for expertise, target farming mods to dismantle for filaments to be donated into named pieces/exotics you dont have/cant get first, then after into exotics you just havent leveled yet, exotics will be the bottleneck compared to named cuz of how many you can equip, and the fact that the hunters drop a large pool at the end of countdown of named items so youll passively get progress across the board there too
there is notably a better farm for named drops specifically with faster rates and a pool of more hard to come by drops, but that requires the houndsman bounty and doesnt translate well into leveling equipped gear/exotics, still worth doing some tho but your biggest timesink is exotics so countdown is where youll be most of the time

That gets you a ton of levels because named items go up at the rate of 0.5 levels per donate (1.5 with current boost) after that you can run countdown for the sets you need and donate those, and buying mods and donating printer filament if you have tons of eddies.

You don't really need maxed out mods at all, they're rare even if you're farming Summit on Legendary difficulty with all 10 Directives.

Honestly as long as you're picking up junk and donating, progress is progress. If you're doing general gear like brand sets and gear sets, just target the individual brands/gear. For guns, just target 1 category at a time donating junk. Then when you get to named items, donate the easy to obtain items first. Then when you get to harder to obtain items like exclusive exotics and named items or dz exclusives, target farm skill/gear mods and decon them down for printer materials. You can dump printer materials to max out proficiency

Even with named items, for example Salvo, just target farm unit alloys. Fox's prayer kneepads, target farm Overlord Armaments. And so on

If you wanna donate materials to a gun just go to the expertise section of the tinkering table again, find the gun you wanna donate to and hit spacebar (or whatever your button is) to "research" then hit v which is donate materials.

Donate whatever material you wish. Most people donate printer filament's or materials they are maxed out/high on.

some factions have unique enemy archetypes, and the same archetypes sometimes have slight differences between factions. some of them are more annoying and difficult to deal with than others

black tusk is in general a bit more difficult than the other factions though, at least that's what i feel

true sons turrets are the bane of my existence, hyena has shield users, and the outcasts are generally more tame as long as you prioritize the rushers asap
