This is a better topic for #ask-td2-community, but the Expansion of div2 (WONY) changes the "Gearscore" to Lvl 40, and an infinite levelling system.
The system is based around a special Watch you obtain during the DLC.

You'll always be a max of Lvl 40, but you can obtain minor bonuses once you get that Watch.

shy vine

Not that I'm speaking of the US as exclusively the one nation where this kind of murderous intent from teenagers occurs, but it's so jarring to see politicians and authorities spouting blames on gun laws, video games, criminal culture, poverty and whatever

People are put down when young, nobody picks them back up and then there's the impressively moronic question of "hurr durr how could we have prevented this, we never saw the signs"

Some people who take those measures are just sick in the head, but others are tempted because the powers that be don't offer them a better way

I don't want to suffer, I just want to achieve a good life pulling people up with me

Other people deserve a fair life as much as I do, and if I just escape, I won't be giving them that

#

It's not to say I won't indulge in pleasure every now and then, but I can't lose sight of this one thing apparently no one else cares to do something about

#

Most solutions are horribly "give a man a fish"

I keep asking myself "is there anyone teaching man how to fish?"

I am simply too selfish to care anymore

shy vine
#

It's not exactly that I am trying to be kind to people, but more that I abhor the levels of garbage some people get away with simply because they're in power

#

It's more out of spite than out of kindness

#

But then, nothing good comes out of simply lashing out, so I want to drive this disgust for the powers that be towards something a bit more productive, because in the end it'll also help people create a better world... hopefully

nimble cradle
# sacred snow -CoD goes on steam with a single reveal trailer -70 dollars -people actually p...

I remember the good ol' days of preordering games at my local GameStop. I only had to pay $5 to reserve my copy. The most exciting part was going to the midnight release of the game with friends as we camped outside the store.

Nowadays, you can alternatively pay $70 for the full smash when you don't know what you're gonna get off the bat, months before its official release.

I saw MW II's "vault" edition on Steam and I thought, "jesus, 70 quid? it better have the original MW2 in this damn bundle."

#

Also, they can get away with it because it's just plain and simple. They can defer the blame to the consumers who committed to their product by buying it for $70. Unless there's a massive fckup, like what happened to Cyberpunk πŸ˜‚ (Lovely business model, by the way)

shy vine
#

Outriders actually scammed players on the preorder bonuses by tying them to the game's preorder and then separating it into a normal DLC when the game launched, deducting the DLC's value from the preorder price to create the base game

#

Basically preorder = 270, after launch base = 260 and preorder skin dlc = 10

#

I called it out and got responses varying from "don't buy it then" to "they never said a preorder bonus is exclusive to the preorder" and "why do you care so much"

#

Honestly, preorders nowadays are such a bad joke

#

People are happy to be scammed and defend it

#

Go figure

nimble cradle
#

why do you care so much?
Like this right here is the irony of being part of the player base πŸ˜‚

#

No one really looks at the details anymore. At face value, 70 quid might seem like the best deal since you're getting quite a lot for a game that's potentially unstable.

shy vine
#

I already became extremely tightfisted with games because of how many of them love displaying problems after refund timers

Pays to be patient in the game world, I generally hold off on games until a couple of years after release, when all the dlc is out and on a deep sale. By then you usually know if it's actually any good, too

lethal plank

^^

shy vine
#

Funny (not) that a video titled "Dark Age of YouTube" caused one of the most absurd events of the platform

#

The tl;dr is that Act Man got striked by community guidelines under "nudity/sexual content" for photoshopping a cucumber over the mouth of a youtuber who abuses copyright claims and basically no one likes (and it was manually reviewed by one of the staff and confirmed as "yes, it violates the guidelines")

#

Then some of his videos got age-restricted for the same kind of "explicit" content and eventually his channel itself got demonetized

#

I didn't watch his videos much because he didn't really cater to me as a creator, but I never saw any take from the Act Man that warranted this kind of backlash from the platform's staff

#

So for this thing to have happened, it's... well, it's quite jarring

nimble cradle
#

This Quantum kid was simply offended that other YouTubers or content creators would criticize them, so they would complain to YouTube in the hopes of taking the criticizing videos down.

Well, things certainly got out of hand now.

#

You can't make this thing up. It's setting itself as the next big blockbuster in 2023

shy vine
#

Yeah, the drama goes beyond just two people having subjective beef with each other

#

When something so egregious happens and the guilty party is backed up by the platform itself when literally everyone else agrees the platform is supporting the wrong party, it's something so absurd that it's almost unreal

nimble cradle
#

Oh, it's much deeper than that. It really shows you what YouTube prioritizes at this time. Maybe there's a tie between Quantum and YT, but it's really dodgy and the platform does not look good upon society right now.

shy vine
#

Maybe YouTube is so jealous of Twitch, they're trying to adopt the same moderation techniques petter

nimble cradle
#

Those capitalists are at it again, tsk tsk

#

YouTube's TOS is really inconsistent.
I've had a couple of videos marked for copyright when everything on my videos was original content. It was mind blowing.

shy vine
#

YouTube and Twitch are prime examples of where the "their business, their rules" mentality can lead

#

The complete lack of any moral obligation to the people who make use of the platform is something I always hated about these things

#

It reminds me of Discord's responses when I'd report some bad faith shit

#

Discord's response to someone being kicked out of a server for having a black character on the profile picture is "block the user"

#

One day I was stressing their system a bit and put on a profile picture just barely short of showing nipples

#

I then reported myself on another account

#

Their response was "block the user" until I pestered them like 3 or 4 times, to which they then removed my picture and I told them I just falsified a report to see how shitty their system was

#

And that they passed with flying colours, all of them different shades of brown

#

And then these things also can even extend to Steam's support, where reporting users is just met with automated replies and nobody actually checks that unless you know which buttons to push on the convoluted support page to actually talk to a human being by pretending to have a different issue that requires the aid of a human

#

So, but so many big companies just having zero accountability for anything that not only happens on their platform, but they themselves let happen after reports, really gets under my skin

nimble cradle
#

TOS reminds me of the T&C's that people are supposed to read before signing documents.

No one really cares about them and moves on to their daily lives.

shy vine
#

The worst part of T&C and TOS are the absolute aspect of them tbh

#

You either legally agree fully or don't use the service at all

#

And everyone wants to use the service

nimble cradle
#

I can understand why there is lack of oversight or enforcement when it comes to rules and TOS's. But I'm sure massive companies with huge profits can (and should) afford to have some sort of accountability for the crap that happens on their platform/with their services or products.

shy vine
#

Stuff like the legal "weight off my back" shit of "the staff is allowed to shaft your use of the service at any point if they so feel inclined"

#

So whenever something bad happens, it's "well, you legally agreed we could nuke you if you looked at us funny"

nimble cradle
#

Either it's my way or the highway

shy vine
#

A personal favorite is a single staff user passing judgement on something, then you bring the issue to another staff member who's unaware of the judgement from the first and they have a completely different judgement

#

And you end up getting told by two different people that you can and can't do something

#

It's like having an extreme case of tunnel vision is a requirement for the job

#

Funnily enough, on my very first day moderating a Steam forum as a volunteer, I got into a fight with another moderator because I didn't think the comment that was deleted deserved it, so we kept doing and undoing the thing until the community manager had to yell at us petter

#

I guess it's telling that my first action as a moderator was undoing someone else's moderation

nimble cradle
#

A moderator moderating another moderator.

That's some Inception plot, mate

#

Essentially, companies nowadays has this "moderate yourselves" kind of mentality to which many complaints (regardless of how serious they are) are ignored or dismissed in some cases. It really begs the question why the company even has a TOS in the first place if they aren't gonna enforce it well.

I just figured out something
The insurance companies in the US are the reason that the obesity rate is so high despite me never seeing an obese person
They can raise the price if you're projected as a "risk" so they tend to make you either underweight (uncommon, I actually got marked as that) or overweight unless you happen to be the perfect average adult

#

Not saying there are no obese people, but it's not 40% of the population

shy vine
#

Basically they label you as having a health risk if it's passable enough, then charge you more for it?

fast timber
shy vine
#

Damn, and here I was thinking I was misunderstanding it

late vine
#

I think part of the reason you 'never see an obese person' is because most of them don't go out much. Last time I was in America I thought the same until we went to an iHOP for breakfast one day, and the place was rammed with terrifyingly obese people

#

although I'm sure the insurance thing has an effect too

shy vine
#

I think there might be a name for that kind of occurrence

#

"I want a partner who plays games, but I can't find one going out because they're at home playing games" and whatever

There are a scary amount of obese people in the US, you just never see them.

The damage scaling thing when enemies are more than a couple of levels higher than you is just insane (and doesn't work the other way around) - does anyone know if Valhalla has the same thing?

nimble cradle
#

You can set the global difficulty in Valhalla iirc. You can set your enemies to be like 20 or 30 levels above you. The same also goes if you want it easier on yourself: you can make the enemies have the same levels as you or constantly have it at level 50 regardless of your progression.

#

But in Odyssey, enemies can only be 2 or 3 levels higher than you, and they're immediately dealing god tier damage.

late vine
#

yeah, I was specifically referring to the Origins/Odyssey thing of enemies a few levels above you (I think 4 was about the cut-off point) suddenly taking much much less damage and doing much much more - I assume that isn't the case in Valhalla then, if you can set enemies to be much higher level than you

#

Anyway, I'm planning to wait until some kind of 'complete' edition comes out with all dlcs on a deep discount, which is likely to be a couple more years yet. Just curious because it seemed like such a clumsy mechanic.

nimble cradle

Yeah, Valhalla likes it's +10 differentials so it's a massive power spike you'll deal with if you don't "stay in your own lane" per se.

#

Now that I at least was allowed to remove the boot and step somewhat properly on the ground, I spent so long with my foot static at a square angle that I muscularly forgot how to walk

#

Or rather, I know the movements and don't have the strength for them because it's basically 2 months of atrophia

#

That little move where you push your foot down and raise yourself a bit like you had heels? The left foot can't do that anymore

😭 pissed of some dude whos now looking for me

#

He did the hand signals saying go then drove himself. I said **** then he came round with his van tryna get me

#

When he stopped at the bottom of the hill i did πŸ–• and he got pissed off and tried driving up. Good thing was i ran down and said into some side streets

#

I actually got into a bit of a gesticulation argument with a dude in traffic once

#

Basically there is a road with two lanes that does a little S to the left. I was on the right lane and he was on the left lane, and by normal functional human standards we'd be able to perfectly go forward side by side on the S by him sticking to the left lane and me sticking to the right lane

#

What happened instead was the made no attempts to do the S, didn't use his blinker and invaded my lane in a curve completely unannounced

#

I honked while steering right to the road's shoulder, to which the guy stood by my side while were still moving and started gesticulating at me, as if I was the one in the wrong

#

I showed him the funny finger and I shit you not

#

The man actually swerved to ram me out of the road

#

A grown man, in broad goddamn daylight, during lunch time, in a busy road, tried to swerve me off because I flipped him after he performed one of the stupidest illegal maneuvers that put my life at risk

#

I reacted fast enough, he hit my elbow and I lost some balance without falling, he saw he just tried to outskill the equivalent of a race driver and floored it, zigzagging between any space he could find

#

Then I caught up to him, memorized the plates and stopped to call the police and report the guy

#

Turns out the car was registered in the name of a criminal lawyer, of all things

#

Imagine being so irredeemably stupid at existing that you forget everything about your job to do something that your job would obviously punish

#

It's honestly really impressive not only how prone people are to road rage with what looks like intent to actually damage your vehicle and your health, but also can get away with it if the victim doesn't have the right details to report

#

If I hadn't chased that guy to get his plate, nobody else would have

A whole thesis on wild gesticulating crime

he was a bully to other kids at his school though so it was deserved

#

I made that hammer from just 3 blocks of metal and a lathe

#

More so the road rage stories I mean lol. Ppl are crazy on the road sometimes

nimble cradle

Road raging isn't even worth the stress tho. You road rage in a state like Texas and, ooooh boy, just pray you don't mess with the wrong hot head.

nimble cradle
solemn eagle
#

True true. I've just had knives pulled on me so far thankfully. I dont give into the rage either. Its always some crazy sob who just snapped that day or something

#

And homeless people at red lights or highway exits lol

#

I've had a homeless guy spread eagle on the hood of my car once at a red light. I grabbed that hammer out the glovebox and showed it to him and he scooted real quick

#

I wasnt really gonna do anything with it tbh. There were also cops at the gas station I was next to and if he didnt get off I was just gonna get their attention lol

nimble cradle
#

What the hell is wrong with these people? That doesn't even sound real πŸ˜‚

#

Even I'm appalled and I'm just reading this text

For real. I still pass that guy when I drive to university. He is the most prominent homeless guy on this one stretch of road I have to take lol

He probably wouldn't remember me :(

nimble cradle
#

"oh it's that guy with the hammer, let's not spread eagle on their car hood now"

solemn eagle
#

Lmao

nimble cradle
#

There's really no need to get involved with him. Less drama, more fun πŸ˜‚

solemn eagle
#

I try not to. There are a lot, like, 6 intersections down the road and if you have to stop at the first you ha e to stop at all of them and he hangs out at the intersections lol. He screams at people in their cars when you're stopped lol

#

He's under the Influence of a little summin' summin'

nimble cradle
#

Oh yeah, I'm familiar with them. I had a couple of encounters with some of them during my commuting to and from campus grounds and stuff. They somewhat like to hang out next to the frontage roads next to the freeways nearby university grounds in my case. Really weird and unusual

solemn eagle
#

Yea same here. Easier to avoid around those kind of areas thankfully lol

shy vine
#

It's so easy for people to do something stupid in traffic tbh

#

Like, I'm all for people beating the shit out of each other, but the moment someone pulls a melee weapon or specially a firearm, it's clear they're treating it a bit beyond teaching someone manners

#

I'm a relic from an old and long-gone era: to settle such differences, I want to fight someone face-to-face, fisticuffs

#

It's... honourable, in a way?

#

Like, I might not like the person at the moment or anything, but to have the actual mental immaturity to lethally harm someone else over traffic beef is completely moronic

#

Beat someone down until the stop fighting back and that's about it; at that point you don't have an opponent anymore

#

Bruises heal fast and you don't even need anything besides some painkillers, but a knife stab or a gunshot gets really nasty

#

"Quite so, my young chap, I am particularly eager to engage in conflict with one such as myself in the transit of carriages, so we might begin the day as foes on the street and end the night as allies in the pub"

#

They got into a fight, the man hit the other man's ear with a motorcycle helmet, they went at each other and somehow they became bros a few minutes later

#

I'll write a thesis on the proportionality of testosterone and friendship one day

nimble cradle
#

It was probably that guy's rite of passage into how to become a better human being, something like that

solemn eagle
#

Yea no I don't ever want to use my hammer. I prefer using it as a scare tactic and just to show like "hey if you try to mess with me I'm not entirely defenseless" I never use it as "Hey! you cut me off in traffic and now I want to throw this hammer at you" type thing lol
