Storywise it makes no sense that you would now have to make a completely new char. One that you've invested tons of time in grinding gear and min/maxing. It makes no sense to introduce such a system in YEAR 6, if at all. I have to admit I am very much opposed to the system in any game, but to introduce it into a game that is 5 years old is just madness. If this is their way of getting back the playerbase and getting them invested I'm afraid they'll realise that it will do the opposite.

The known issues board is only updated when there's substantial bugs that take time to address. There's lots, probably including the ones you've noticed that have gone unfixed for some time but unfortunately submitting a ticket thru ubi support is the seemingly the only way to do things - it's probably up to the dev team then to allocate resources to fix said bug(s)

The one I'm still annoyed at is the transmog bug

They were clear. Each season you have to play with a seasonal character and that character always starts at 0. This forces player engagment with the new content as you have no choice but the grind. The issue is that even though your XP etc transfer to your main you will never be playing on your main characters again. It is actaully more correct to say these are your legacy characters. You are forced to use the seasonal characters because then you will never be strong enough to 1) Blaze through the content quickly 2) stop playing or be satisfied with what you already have. The modifiers will ensure that. If you don't get the gear that is adjusted to the modifiers you are going to get cooked.

After thought, this WILL improve player engagement because at the expense of the players past time and effort and current build freedom. You just won't have the ability to leverage what you have and know to get through the content quickly and go play something else. To keep up you will have to grind and each season the grind will reset.

You have to use a new seasonal character for that which starts at level 0. Meaning, any SHD levels you rack up or gear you level up will have no affect in the next season. You will be reset to 0 regardless of your effort. Thus, it is not in your best interest to focus on SHD leveling anymore. It is a grind to no useful end.

Whether you do or do not play other games is kind of irrelevant. What do you want for this game and is this something you still want to play is the only choice that will ultimately matter. Ubisoft-Massive wants to change the mentaility of DIV2 players or the DIV2 players entirely. SHD leveling is counter to players engaging i.e. grinding the new content for an extended periods of time. This means less time exposed to the apparell store or the desire to buy the seeason pass. You will definitely want the season pass if a power fantasy is what you chase. To get to max level for a time will require buying the season pass barring you don't have a job or family.

I have a suspcion that the new seasonal model was a major goal of TD-Hearland. This would be one of the major reasons to want players to move over to TD-Hearland. With TD-Hearland cancelled Ubisoft is now directing that the seasonal model be integrated into TD2 with they goal of improving player engagement and ultimately making more money. No qualms with the idea that they need to make money. I do however have opionions and choices to make with regard to how they do that.

Seasonal characters reset every new season which is all of 4 months on length. So quite literally every 4 months your seasonal character resets and all XP and loot is transferred to your mains. People wanna play new content with their existing characters they invested years into. To me, and how they set up this system, is that our main characters are no longer our "main characters". They get closeted so you can play from level 1 to whatever ONLY for new content. It's such a bad change in my opinion. Doesn't belong on this game at all

Crafting??? I find it hard to see the value in that as in the next season your gear may be totally invalidated. The only valuable asset is XP in my opinion for in season SHD levels and RNG. I am not sure if you have access to your old gear in new seasons but if you do I am sure it will be rest to your current season level. It would be easier for them to not allow you to use it for balancing reasons. For engagement reasons its the same. You will have to play longer to get something decesnt to get through the content with and these are positive things for Ubisoft-Massive.

In the past if anyone ever asked why they should buy the expansion I would tell them that everything released from march 2020 to present was tied to it, now I'd tell them that buying the expansion gives them a story arch, map and additional skill variants since all other post content drops are now tied to base game instead

Yes true, but they've said before they regretted the idea of having all content locked behind the expansion because of how the systems worked with level 40 gear and story and that in the future they'd want to be able to allow for content to be available to all (descent was the most recent and was possible as it didn't require the gear system to work)
