Caches are always a long shot, because there's no RNG protection for them. You are pulling a 1/however many Exotics there are ingame.
Targeted Loot is another matter. If Countdown isn't working for you, could always try super Directives Summit.

7+ is a good place to start at. Just use a build where it has no damage skills/just a shield and you get 2 freebies right there.

heroic has high chance of failure during extraction due to hunter difficulty scaling. challenging you can solo them. if you want to successful extract, do challenging. if you want to bet on your team not wiping but with about 30% more cred for a successful extraction, try heroic. the loot quality is somewhat similar.

This advice is wrong. People are salty because they failed Heroic a few times. Unless you’re on console Heroic CD is completely fine.

I’ve been running heroic multiple times every game session for years now. The majority of my runs have been clean extractions, by far.

You get significantly more countdown req, the loot has better rolls, and it’s a great way to test your single-target-dps builds.

I'm curious if anyone has run into an incursion player that uses tank builds or skill builds effectively. I matchmake with people and notice that anyone outside of a striker red build or FU build with lefty and opportunistic just doesn't know what's going on.

I'd like to give them a chance but Im starting to agree with the others during those runs that the tank or skill or mixed builds simply aren't effective

The only time to use a tank build is one special case. On second stage of the tanker is really weak and you need insurance that the boss won’t kill it.

Skill builds can kill the first stage turrets with oxy. And kill Lovebirds with the right buffs.

Technically healer is skill build. You can do the whole thing with no healer but healer is nice on last stage.

Challenging is just more efficient, and assuming your matchmaking it relies on your teammates far less. The average rolls are slightly lower, but that really doesn't matter with optimizing available. The key is to get gear with the correct rolls in place, and to do that you just want as much gear you can farm per hour.

Also the people asking "where do I farm for gear" are generally new and not properly geared, and will not be ready for heroic CD scaling. It's just far more effective for them as well.

I run future initiative myself, and like to keep wright occupied while the others DPS or knock out adds. Another point of frustration for me is when others don't listen or communicate. The struggle is real especially on the wright fight.

Correct, but I've had to run a few new groups through it and if they struggle then a tank build has been good insurance. "Just jump behind them and do X" is the right strategy if everyone knows what they're doing and has strong builds.

Technically a single player with stacks will melt him down by diving past. LIke I said using a tank build to block the shots is a special case. Tanker already needs to be weak and it's good insurance in that case.

The runs are definitely quicker on challenging with random teammates, and the failure rate is far lower. I get that for an experienced team thats all geared up heroic really is not that difficult, I'm really just talking about random matchmaking and advice for new players. Telling them to just go to heroic countdown is like telling them the fastest exp in the game is heroic with 5 directives. Like... Technically true if your setup for it and have the game knowledge, but for the people asking the question in the first place it's just bad advice

Sorry but you need numbers to back this up. I get that Heroic can feel like it's less efficient because occasionally it fails. If a person has a solid DPS build then there's no reason not to farm Heroic CD.

People don't do Countdown for fun (well I do but I'm weird) - they do it for loot and countdown rec. The reason why this "always do Challenging" advice is so bad in particular is b/c of how much people lose by running Challenging. They're getting significantly less rec for no reason and worse rolls. On top of that, they are making themselves do even more optimizing than they need to - the most expensive material grind in the game.

They're also missing out getting better mods when that's targeted. Can't optimize those.

There was a couple times where I randomly matchmake with a group of people that were all in a clan and they were fantastic. 4 man groups actually split up and cleared all the objectives. It's not significantly less req. Its 50 less.
Challenging 158, heroic 208.
There are no build kicks in challenging.

There is also a higher likelyhood of failure in heroic * if someone crashes at end or a couple ppl wipe.
Challenging is way easier to extract if you lose a few to crashes.

If someone is relatively new to the game they should be in challenging, hands down.
I think most are in cd more for expertise donations and exo components , in either case the loot quality is irrelevant. Maxed out mods probably have a better chance dropping from legendary summit

There's a lot of "I"s in your comments. Heroic cooldown isn't a solo mission, as is challenging. you rely on your teammates. And if your teammates (out of your hands) sucks and dies left and right during heroic extraction, it's gameover. You alone ain't going to solo all the hunters and extract.

You may have favorable runs in your lifetime, but it doesn't speak for everybody else. Challenging being more efficient still stands. Just saying.

If you have two people with good builds and they run 100 countdowns each: my point is that the one running Heroic will be far better off. Well statistics have to be in my favor because matchmaking is RNG and the vast majority of my runs turn out fine. I think there's a lot of confirmation bias there - people run a CD, it fails, they get upset and say "F it this is pointless".

If i'm godlike and never failed even one heroic countdown (which is kinda true), i would still not advise and recommend it automatically to everybody else, simply for the fact that if your teamates are afk bots and just not trying and dies to hunters, you alone can't do anything but quit.
You having all the successful groups is purely good chance and it doesn't mean it can happen for everybody else.

There are times where (also out of your hands) SHD 50/60 players joins with frankenstein builds or rainbow builds or whatever whom just wanted to take a bet and get carried....or, teamates leave in the middle of the match due to them doubting the runs success rate and leaving you with just 4 players, etc. Plenty variables can happen in heroics that can completely ruin a run before it even began.
In challenging at least I can solo most of it myself.

But for most, M1A is pretty much the recommended rifle.

Sort of. There's some gear that's considered "dz exclusive", but there are a handful of other ways to get those items. The gear pieces itself aren't too hard to farm, but systems like the shd watch and experience take a large time investment. Unlike div 1 there isn't 1 large dz, it's 3 smaller ones. Overall div2 is just a lot more pve focused with some pvp attached, and most of the player base reflects that

If your not interested in the story mode and just want to get to the end game/pvp you can just skip the 1-30 story which takes roughly 20-30 hours, and all you'll need to do to start the end game is the 4ish hour dlc 31-40 campaign.

idk if i remember correctly but i think in Div 1 Skills are pretty alright always, you can lean into them to make them better but they always felt useful regardless, i feel like Div 2 Skills suck badly unless you have a lot of yellow cores and stats, for example a T0 healing chem without repair skills stats only heals like 5% armor, wtf c:

At low skill tiers offensive skills are useful to aggro and distract enemies, force them to relocate and so on

Otherwise utility skills tend to be better at t0

Skill is good at t0 why bother using skills, if its only good at high tiers why bother in a t0 build

Making the he utility ones decent at t0 is a good compromise to avoid OP skills

Case in point was shrapnel trap that was strong in t0

I umderstand the issue, from what i see game sadly has a problem that extremes as drasticly more valuable than hybrids despite devs attemp

Faye lau season came with skills that buffs skill tiers on kills and achilles pulse that is obviously aimed at letting a sniper be skill/gun hybrid

You end up being meh in both

You could do something crazy like hotshot, ninja bag and that named picaros holster with technician to get 5 red cores and 4 skill tiers

Add a future perfect sniper and something else to buff skills amd you have an very okay hybrid
