Hi, so I am very new to this game as in I just got the game yesterday and having been playing through the campaign (currently level 8). I have not played division 1 before. I have got the WONY dlc also and I have the option to boost to level 30. I am wondering if I should stay my current level and complete the campaign or boost to level 30? Can I play the campaign being level 30 and progress? If not will I miss stuff? I would appreciate if someone can help me understand how it works. Also there is a lot of stuff being thrown at me that I get confused what to do and what not to do lol. Apologies if this is not the right place to ask.

so the character boost has 2 methods of boosting. 1 = being level 30 and sent to NY dlc immediately and you can't go back to washington DC until you're level 40 (max level currently) but once you go back the only things you may have are side missions otherwise just running control points at challenging or heroic to get blueprints for things. challenging sets all control points to level 3 heroic level 4

2nd method you go through that tutorial bit and get to base. you can boost to level 30 world tier 5 which was pre-warlords of new york end game of random strongholds being invaded which you would clear but think you miss a lot of lore boosting both ways? couldn't say though

the blueprints you'll most likely be missing comes from level 3 or level 4 control points which = less work if you play on world difficulty challenging or heroic

otherwise normal you'd have to hit up 2-3 activities linked to the control points to level them up to 3 or 4 respectively

The rockets you already know about

If there's nobody in the furnace for extended time, feiser will break the glass on the control room causing the doors to shut

If the control room is not shut, then a purple enemy will occasionally spawn from the left or right and attempt to cut power from one of the two electrical boxes on the sides of the control room. If the power gets cut, then you need one person on either side to hit the electrical boxes at the same time (by hit I mean pull levers)

Every once in a while the boss will do the fat wipe you probably know about

Also if you don't take care of the codes quick enough, then the furnace itself will fill up with molten iron. This results in a CO² meter going up (viewable in the control room). When that meter is full, for the duration of the fight you'll take health damage inside the furnace

There's also a lesser known funny quirk

Feiser becomes slowly angrier and his flamethrower does more damage and has more range. You can lower this with the water cannon also

You'll get the stacks of burn where at max stacks you can actually catch fire

As the fight goes on then you get more stacks per tick up to 5

Being in the airlock does not decrease your stacks but does not raise them, while being outside the furnace will make them decrease at ten stacks per tick

This can also be decreased with the water cannons as well

Every item will need to be complete to hit max level.

Weapons and skills are kinda the biggest wall to climb when it comes to expertise

You can check to make sure you have improvised pieces proficient, if not they are craft only, 20 each donated will make them proficient.

It'll still take a while, but you will get it done a heck of a lot faster than Crafting.

What’s the fastest way to rank up shd

Open World (commonly referred to as the "LZ") Challenging/Heroic, with as many Directives as don't slow you down.
Then just do Control Points (CP) and the activities/bounties.

Right now is a great time to farm, as your first 15 levels are double xp.

Bountys is huge for shade level from my esperience

Easy to do and near the same xp as control points

Get 3 done is the same time as 1 point

Activities are by far the fastest way to rank up, relative to speed:total.
But all 3 options are worth it overall, Bounties being the 3rd place. Just work on learning the spawn areas for enemies and kill them fast.

The major issue with Bounties is that you need to travel between points, which can sometimes be rather arbitrary. Special mention to that one Hyena Bounty I kept getting during my Nexus farm that gave me 2 red NPC's to kill 150m away after I'd already taken out the boss.

at expertise 1 you should have a lot of items not proficient and able to be donated too.
the general idea, already mentioned above, is using countdown to target loot. collect everything . valuable target loot will be the different weapon types, youll get gear and brand set items mixed in regardless. weapons will be the most bang for your time.

the general work flow on this to make it as efficient as possible is as follows:
-mark anything you dont want to save as junk.
-check your library for any max rolls/talents you need and extract those.
-goto expertise table and hit the donate all junk.
-anything left thats already proficient, deconstruct for mats.

as you start to fill up on mats, start to use some of them to make donations to: skills you never use, exotics you never use, specialization weapons you never use, and any items you find that are not available.
i personally saved a lot of my main materials and just donated the protective fabric and receiver components as they filled. i always kept around 1000 of each because they still are needed for crafting or weekly shd donation project.

no any exotics you dont need you break down. for reference its 135 exotic components to upgrade 1 single item to expertise 24.
expertise is a pretty slow process and not meant to be fast.. the weapon categories alone will take somewhere in the neighborhood of 4500 items donated (20 of each). usage of some will lower the total needed, but i wanted to give some type of scale to the endeavor
