It’s very good! Probably the best way to farm gear. I normally have all eight players doing each objective together on heroic difficulty.

It’s perfectly normal for 1-3 players to do one objective on challenging or lower difficulty.

though I'm on an over 400h gametime streak without crashes, so my only crashing was somewhere in first 50 hours after starting, before having fixes running that luckily help me with it

It’s not that scary… it’s just a mode that requires team mechanics and good communication… kind of simulates a prevent this from happening by doing these mini games… very similar to countdown only it takes longer and the bosses have special mechanics before you can kill them

get all kinds of builds collected and maxed out, it's a looter shooter after all, while doing various activities (summit, heroic and legendary missions, countdown, raids, but don't forget to mix it up with some open world stuff with directives and whatnot, so you don't burn out from doing one thing too much)

The story is basically the tutorial. After 40 you can start to make builds. Take on tougher difficulties. Do raids. Countdown, summit, etc

it's levels of collection behind collection behind collection, you get your recalibration library going, you can start to recalibrate maxed out (good) stats to new gear, you can start optimising them and maxing them out, and then you grow expertise level as the ultimate long term grind

it's funny how the recalibration window is a bit complicated at first for people hitting 40 for first time, usually how I like to explain it in short is that it's kind of backwards, you first really mainly interact with the last/4th panel (save collected stats into library), then the 3rd (put those saved stats onto items), then the 2nd (start optimising stuff), then the 1st (work on long term expertise), in terms of longevity and relevance as you play

to basically TL;DR not even bother with the first 2 panels there yet to not overcomplicate it, start with understanding the 4th panel, and work backwards to 3rd then later 2nd then later 1st panel on their own pace

I'd probably matchmake for those, and I think you can safely shift their difficulties one down (so a hard manhunt bounty is what normally you'd see in challenging, and on challenging it's closer to how other things are on heroic)

some of them on heroic with 4 man have rooms rivalling some legendary missions, it's good fun and a lot of chaos if your group is not prepared
EMP (jammer/EMP sticky, even on non skill builds) is a godsend

I find that those groups fill very quickly if you put your group as open/anyone can join while doing them (and call for backup on top), seems like a lot of people doing random bounty matchmaking

the only thing you need to do to stay there is avoid being teleported to WH after extraction. Ive been able to manipulate it about 8/10 times before by holding esc as the cutscene triggers so that the cut scene cancels and i end up in the extraction zone with enemies still spawning

keep in mind in most games optimised builds tend to specialise, it's kind of tricky to do a bit of everything and still be good (unless you don't need every bit for the difficulty content)

like spreading too thin might mean you kind of do bad weapon damage, and kind of bad skill damage, and are still not that survivable (all this on higher difficulties that is) so you're just kind of bad at everything
usually it's better to double down and focus on one aspect, like making your skills T6 and excel so they can be relied upon, or going 6 reds and knowing you just have so much weapon damage your defense becomes your offense, if enemies die before they even really shoot at you you're invulnerable - dropping some of that can mean you now lose that tempo and take massively more damage, without much to back it up

your best bets are stuff that kind of semi-free give these like tech tree and memento, otherwise you might be in an awkward spot where if you go to higher difficulties it's a jack of all trades that's kind of weak in every way

I like the suggestions of rolling a couple blue cores so you + your shield has some extra tankiness while you get used to various mechanics in the game that'll allow you to feel just as tanky at 6 reds if you want

I've put some thought into theorycrafting a Red Future Initiative build that uses Picaros, Memento and Technician for a 3 skill tier base that synergizes with Future Perfect weapons to overcharge stuff, but crit damage seems pretty horrendous and largely reliant on the FI chest bonus instead

In others I just told them right away got a maxed striker build and know what to do

no, in the release version of that, after the graves and the second interact with the console, you would have to hunt down that hunter in one of the nearby locations, now he is a guaranteed spawn when you go back up and there is a big red circle you can stand in infront of the monument, it was more to imply that changes have been made in the past to finicky steps of hunters

SHD levels roughly show how active players are and don't always relate to how sweaty they can be.

In other words, don't be discouraged when you see players with higher SHD levels than you. They just played it more than you at this point but that's really about it
