If you dislike the flow of always online looter-shooters, then maybe they just aren't for you, but that is very much the point of them, to increase your power little-by-little.

The thing about it that's not viable is that it's, well, melee damage.
Melee damage is quite strong in certain builds. But the problem is that it puts you in range of all of their melee attacks too, and there's more of them than you.

I have some unequipped gloves with a +9.6 "Status Effects" on them, and yet when I look at my gloves recalibration library my "Status Effects" is at 5.6 and shows nothing available for extraction.
