you can do the schaeffer manhunt mission, there is a hunter in there that counts, you can toggle it on coney amusement park once you unluck it in the season track.
also the open world puzzle hunters count if you havent done those yet, if you arent far into the season to have the mission unlocked

I use the Rock n Roll/ACS12 for HB builds, just to get a really quick stack on HB. But scorpio can definitely work, since that's what I used prior to getting one.

in terms of the DPS 'special' armors to have, id prioritize coyotes mask (exotic), Fox Prayer Knees, Contractor gloves. in that order.
all 3 will be used on a high-end build, though high end is more difficult to farm. Check the spreadsheet pinned in #td2-build-advice (on spreadsheet, look at bottom for the 'Hub' tab)
easier to farm gun DPS sets are Negotiators Dilema and Hunters Fury. HF is typically for close in work, while Nego can do whatever range/guns (typically AR / Rifle / LMG as primary gun.
HB (Heart Breaker is still an easy farm, but you will be wanting to reroll cores so its slightly more difficult to find pieces. )
HF -> close range, smg/shotgun
ND -> mid-long to short general purpose
HB -> stack build dependent but very strong set when stacked. typically uses an ACS-12 shotgun to get in close and build stacks before switching to primary weapon.

I’m currently using an improvised set I made with absolutely terrible rolls, and I’ve been doing fine in hard. 1/10 I have to switch to a real class because they are baby noobs but like 2/10 are capitol building spawn trapping and I just sit on objective and text and watch my expertise go up in real time.

every expertise level requires a certain number of total proficiency levels to rank up. you gain proficiency levels by equipping/using gear/weapons. every gear item can gain a total of 10 proficiency levels, making it proficient.
