The crashes to desktop without warning seem to be able to be fixed (at least on my end) by alt+entering out of full screen.
Before I did that? 3 in 10 minutes? After? None.

Go into "Task Manager" and kill the background process of "Division 2", then retry.

I reset the 3 EXE's back to run as normal, no admin, and then the game works without crashes

but as soon as I move my mouse, I get a lot of screen lag

apparently the game doesn't like mouse polling rate of 1000

set it to 500 and no more lag

So to recapitulate, yesterday the game crashes randomly, set the 3 EXE's to run as admin game works. Today game won't launch, removed the run as admin from the 3 EXE's and game runs without crashes but has a lot of screen lag when moving the mouse.
Set polling rate to 500 instead of 1000 and lag is gone.

It's obvious it's not really a problem we must fix, it's a fix they must hurry up and fix, but keep in mind, it probably only affects 200 of us, where as 200000 don't have it... if more had it, there would've been and update already.

the strange thing is it doesn't happen all the time for me, but i also can't find any consistencies in what actually triggers the input dropping to start... sometimes it'll start as soon as i start playing the game, sometimes it'll start like an hour into me playing.

CMIIW, DX11 only supports up to 4 cores of CPU, but DX12 can support more than 4 cores. Just because of that, for sure, your fps will increase. But yeah it will crashes once in a while. For me ranging from every 1 hour to 5 hour. Never played longer than that.

That’s how it works with Xbox...in photo mode when take pic and it says that hit Xbox button on controller then tap Y and close, all the games I have work the same way...Xbox go figure 🤷

For anyone having constant crashes, try verifying the game files. Will likely find nothing wrong with it, but seems to fix it, at least it has this past few hours.

@heady kraken @potent hamlet thx for the help. But yes, bit too late hehe. Found a way. Kill the heavy that spawns behind the door first. Then kill the one that walks through the doors before they close. And the key drops with the second heavy you kill. Unclear if Ubisoft is planning to patch this. Already out as a bug since October 2020.

resident evil daily projects keep resetting when I QT to summit (for 3 floors) or DC (for 3 bounties). I completed todays, got the reward (T-virus vial) traveled out of summit to White House and to took them away. I had some of these issues yesterday too

so my daily STARS mission is bugged. It says 3 floors of Summit. I complete that, and when I go to white house, it changes and says 3 bounties. When I complete that, oit goes back to 3 floors of summit. I've not been able to complete this daily as the progress constantly goes away and the goal is changed on me.

I was able to complete the project. I hope I can keep my rewards. I had to trick it. I first did Summit and did an emote, then left. When the emote progress stuck and didn't disappear, I then supplied the control points. Then I matchmade in Summit and still had my progress.
I then completed 3 floors and got the rewards. It was starting to really upset me; if they aren't there tomorrow, I will be creating a ticket

I think I have maybe discovered the issue (for me at least)

So... make sure you only have uplay connect open, close everything, that includes DISCORD.
Load up division and test... If after 5/10 minutes the game hasn't crashed, alt tab and open discord.

NOW

Try it again, restart the PC, load up discord, load up uplay connect and then load up division - see if the game crashes.

I really think that It's discord (not sure how though)

And note, I mean the app, even being in voice - I have no overlays on (for discord or any app actually)

@tawdry crystal The DXDIAG was kinda a joke and stab at Unbisoft. DXDIAG is for diagnosing issues with your direct X and is likely PC specific. It has NOTHING to do with game bugs, but by default, their support asks for these things when it's clear that the issue is with their game, not your PC.

For people having random crashes... here (so far) I solved by a combination of NVCP and In-Game settings. Based on my experience, the crashes seems to be related to high CPU usage or unstable CPU (at least here), so what I did was:

In-Game

  • DX11 Fullscreen
  • Cap the FPS
  • Reduced Latency

NVCP

  • Maximum Performance
  • Threaded Optimization
  • Fast Sync

Whatever you enable in-game, you disable or set to "use the 3D app settings" in the NVCP and vice-versa. DX11, Fullscreen and the In-Game FPS cap seems to consume less CPU than DX12, Borderless and External FPS Tools (RTSS, for example).

With such settings (so far) I managed to keep the CPU usage below 50% most of the time, with rare spikes, and (so far) with no more random crashes. Any other settings made the CPU usage fluctuate too much and the crashes happened too often.

I have a very modest machine (i7-3770k, 16GB RAM, 4GB VRAM, SSD) so I play at 1600x900 locked at 30fps, but I have all graphic settings maxed out and the gameplay is incredible smooth with very rare drops, so the game is beautiful and totally playable. And with such adjustments (so far) the crashes didn't happened anymore.

Ok for everyone having trouble with new patch there a couple things to look at 1. Make shure you run as administrator. 2 make shure your game and ubisoft connect is on the same drive. Both will help

Nothing new. Go to the Task Manager and scroll down in "background processes" until you reach Div2. Kill it and try again.

Make sure to disable GeForce experience or any other modification you have that somehow optimizes or records the game

Alongside disabling any mouse/keyboard program that optimizes your mouse when it comes to certain games or syncs the light to the game

These include programs such as Razer Synapse, Cortex, etc.

Anything that directly modifies the game even if it's for simple optimization ends up crashing it due to it being picked up by the anti-cheat

The main problem isn't with verifying your files. I already had somebody do that alongside re-installing windows and he still got the crashes.

After doing what I listed above and switching all his graphics to low and then back up to high he didn't experience any crashes.

Any recording program will also crash your game. Think ShadowPlay, OBS, etc.

Again, verifying your files isn't gonna do anything. Just disable any external program that you think somehow taps into the game.

I've experienced 2 kinds of crashes: 1st is an immediate force quit, almost just 2 min into the game, it's present every time I have RTSS in the background (but not using overlay) and gets fixed when I uninstalled RTSS. So that one might be anti-cheat related. The 2nd kind is freezing (not responding) and had to be manually shut down and does generate "crashing report". This one is more unpredictable.

So you'll need to statically IP your PC, then when at the actual page for port forwarding, internal and external will generally be the same for whatever your IP is. You might need to know what the protocol is too.

my game crashed a 3 times a while ago, so i tried verifying the files if it would help with the crashing (i've tried verifying before, some how it helped, not sure though), after verifying the files it said there was an error and some files are corrupted and it needs to be repaired. i hit the repair button and after it's finished repairing, it downloaded a 900mb+ file. after downloading it, it now says download, NOT PLAY.

i located the game location folder, then it says it says files need to be verified AGAIN. it keeps repeating. i do not know what's wrong. this game is really broken.

For anyone experiencing Dx12 crashes , try looking at your windows update history see if KB4601050 & KB4601319 updates were installed recently. After someone mentioned windows update possible being an issue, I had to look further into it and after uninstalling those I Was able to play without any issues. Installed those 2 updates again and the 5 minutes CTD's on Dx12 were back. Paused the windows updates for the time being

Its been an ongoing issue since the recent updates for a lot of us.

Just fyi, another factor in crashes have been overlay/recording software causing conflicts and thus resulting in CTD's. So if you run OBS, Shadowplay, etc.. best to not use them until a fix is implemented.

alright, gotcha. yeah no ive disabled the UPlay overlay and dont use shadowplay or OBS or anything like that. that really sucks that this is a large issue. is there a known cause to the crashes? maybe something people do in game in specific that causes them so maybe I can try to avoid doing said things?

Like my issues yesterday was some safe houses crashed my game, locked my pc up completely, and forced to hard reset. No issues today though. Before that it was just random crashing with DX12, which switching to DX11 fixed but I have to deal with the frame stutters from time to time as a result.

So you uninstalled the specific updates, paused windows updates, restarted PC and DX12 still causes issues? Double check to make sure the update hasn't reinstalled itself , and look if you can pinpoint some updates that could of gone through at around the same time you began having issues. I only had those 2 updates installed on the day I was having issues and after removing those I can now play long sessions on Dx12 without any crashes

hm.. since i build my new pc and installed divison2 again, i got some weird lags...
i have high fps, but as soon as a start moving my mouse around, i get some micro? lags?
the pc specs shouldnt matter, they are good enough.
i can "play" the game on ultra at WQHD on 100+ FPS, but moving the mouse around causes the micro lags.
same will happend if i set the settings to the lowest.
tried dx11 / 12 and vsync shit. even restarted pc and verified game files.
any idea?

(no windows are open, when he force closes the ubisoft launcher, he can click some button with a force close game, but it wont do anything.)

Is there a way to download the files for TD2 say in an internet café or some other place, put them into an usb drive, bring them home and then move it into my Uplay folder? I'm currently only able to connect to the internet through my phone, which is okay for gaming but downloading the game would cost me as much as buying the game again. You need to be logged in and have uPlay installed, so I wouldn't risk using an internet cafe computer.

DX12 causes more crashes, ive played 8-14 hour game sessions without a single crash on DX11, DX 12, crashed every 5 minutes. just because YOUR experience is that bad, does not mean its that bad for everyone else.

For the one who’s having crashes to desktop within minutes into the game but without any game freeze (means to say game auto close), you can try to uninstall 1 of the windows update (scroll up to see which one, I don’t remember the KB’s number). it works for some of us (2 that I know of, including me). I do still have game freeze whereby I need to open Task Manager to force close the game, usually after a long period of gaming. More than 1-2 hours. Noticed that high usage of RAM (12GB out of 16GB) and also VRAM (5.4-5.6GB out of 6GB)

Yea that white oak is bugged. Change to invaded (red icon) and start the mission, but somehow it went to mission (cyan) or manhunt (yellow), you can see this at top left of your screen by default beside the name of the mission. After you start or join another group, make sure the icon is red.

Depends on the specific issue, some ( including me ) were able to fix a specific Dx12 crash by updating/removing a certain windows update

And I've been troubleshooting another issue on my end, where after a few days of playing on a fresh install of the game my pc takes so much time to react to me opening other programs like spotify/discord/web browsers. And also seeing wonky CPU usage on a single core. I just installed from scratch on another drive to compare certain filesizes and noticed a few of the files at the bottom of the folder ( ordered alphabetically ) were getting edited since their size was not matching. Swapped the "old" installed files with the fresh one and voila, PC reacts quick again on the old install just like on the fresh install

the crashing issue has become way worse since yesterday. the game crashes on all 3 PCs that I have tried it on within 5-10 minutes of playtime. Before yesterday it randomly fixed itself after restarting the game 3+ times or restarting PC. x.x

but I also was able to find some older updates related to that one that would cause the same issues, which we fixed by updating to the latest windows version, installing remaining updates then removing the "defective" one. I also am attempting to force the update to install for a buddy but we are not done doing so.

yes you can uninstall those specific updates, just need to find which one you have

and since you specify it crashing often since yesterday, it feels like one of the updates could be the issue here

Yeah, I wasn't able to play the game at all unless I went back to Dx11. But another user had that same problem on both Dx11/Dx12. When I removed the specific update, and when he updated his windows to the latest version then removed that update, we both were able to play again without issues

Even if you're on a older version you'll still receive some of those updates so it very well could be it

Yeps, but it is none of those you mentioned. I will still try to uninstall the ones I received recently though. But it was crashing before 23/2 too, just not as much.

Could be 2 things. 1 I noticed a bunch of windows updates would cause many different issues from crashes to lags ( not only in game but with other apps too ). 2 I also noticed a "game" file gets edited throughout your gameplay and causes some lags depending on your config. Quickest troubleshoots would be make sure you've got all recent updates installed then uninstall the faulty one. Longest one would be clean install the game to see if there's any changes

I'd go to your windows updates history -> uninstall updates then read through and see if you have these installed KB4601382 / KB4601319 / KB4598291

You'll only find one of those as they are all the same updates, just either newer or older. So uninstall whichever you find from those I posted, if you don't see it you might have an even older version of the update installed so we'll just have to check microsoft's website to see which you got

Another user didn't have those updates I mentioned and had to update windows for it to install, then when uninstalling the update the lag/crashes stopped

i tried uninstalling and disabled dx12 but only fixed it for 30 minutes until it froze and gave me a bravo-04. then it's back to stutters to the point of physically hurting my eyes.

@shrewd plover @livid condor Did you look at which update replaced the one you uninstalled or you just figured it should work? Need more info from you guys other than "uninstalled and didn't work" doesn't tell me much of what y'all did .

Quick recap-> KB4598242 is what you need installed, if it didn't roll back to that one you probably will run into issues. If you don't pause windows updates, it will reinstall the update you just uninstalled. You also, need to be running latest windows version.

Hmm, running 32gb ram here and seeing usage up to 15-16gb without much more other than discord open so I feel like 8gb could be a problem

Seems like it. My crash is once every 3 hours but stutters are through the roof. Quitting the game takes 10 minutes.

I have an issue with the game file uplay_install.state , I have to replace it with a clean version every now and then or else my pc is slow when div2 is open. But since reinstalling didn't help on your end , another fix that wouldn't help your issue I believe
