So, I found something interesting. If you play Act 1 and look closely you can see Aaron's shoes on the first floor, but when you enter the basement, one shoe is down there. I feel like Aaron gets time to wander the house, and that's exactly what he was doing in the beginning of Act 1. Mr. Peterson sees Nicky and tries to lock Aaron up, and he refuses. Mr. Peterson locks him up and stuff. Idk how the other shoe gets there but I'm assuming there's enough of a time gap between the House and the Basment where Aaron goes up and gets his shoes. Makes sense that he would know all the ways around since he's locked up in the basement and stuff

Theory Time: HN: Hide and Seek's levels have deeper meanings than just being Aaron and Mya's imagination.
Level 1, Savannah: Life is pretty good for Aaron and Mya. Nothing is wrong, you could say life is a adventure.
Level 2, City: During this level is the car crash, this is why you have to hit yourself with a car, and crash cars to beat the level. You can see a shop, that could be Mrs. Tillman's shop. I think The Dead Guy is probably the reporter who is mentioned in the beginning of book, and is presumed dead. I have no clue who is banging on the door. However, it could be a nod to the "Nicky is Dead" theory.
Level 3, Fire: We know it's the same city, seeing as some of the buildings are there. I feel like this has something to do with Diane dying, however that happens afterwards. I haven't beaten the full level yet, so idk most of it, but I have seen footage of it, but my main theory is this is Mr. Peterson's world burning, as Diane dies. It's his stress, greif and anger all combined, but idk, it could be anything else.
Level 4, Graveyard: This is representing the family's depression after Diane dies. The house is like a graveyard, it's dark, gloomy and quiet. Aaron starts to act more like his father, by wearing similar clothes to him in the pretend world. The truck that's flipped on its side, to represent the car crash, the person watching TV is supposed to be Mr. Peterson, the pentagram book is supposed to represent how they would do ANYTHING to bring Diane back.
And that's my theory
