Here's the best way to put it. I should note that this is my interpretation of what they're saying.

We're getting an update soon. Whether that is this month, or into the beginning of next year around January, it is unknown it terms of it's release. Hence, why they are saying, "if it were to be a thing, of course", which could infer that the update may not be pushed out in time for Christmas. However, that is how I'm looking at it.
