the reason for this being misinformation is 1. I found as the first result in google "is vitamin c acid" 2. L-ascorbic acid seems to be the active chemical compound of vitamin C and there are two variants, the other being D-ascorbic acid (created through the Reichstein process) , is chemically syntetized from corn dextrose monohydrate (which is a form of sugar derived from corn starch) and is an artificial additive with no biological activity, aka none of the effects of vitamin C, manufacturers will use these in their products, claiming it's the real deal "vitamin C" then here you have the National Health Institute in uk, ambiguously claiming that "ascorbic acid" is. But hey, during this research, I've concluded citric acid is both one of the compounds of citrus fruits AND is also just an acid, but citrus fruits still have L-ascorbic acid too (only specifying the L- will grant accurate acknowledgement of its presence)
