On the way to Season 4!

While our team is working hard on the new season and its trailer, we decided to hold the Content Creators contest. Everyone can present their own image of a new season in Standoff 2 and compete for lavish rewards!

The topic of #CC2022 is Greece in Standoff 2.

Your submissions will be reviewed by Axlebolt employees. Authors of the six best artworks will receive 500 USD Re:Store gift cards or analogue of a prize, in case shipping to the winner's country is unavailable. Apart from this, several works will receive 20 000G as Community favorites.

We invite competitors to fantasize about architecture of ancient Acropolis, the battle of Theseus and Minotaur, crystal clear blue water of Mediterranean sea, narrow streets of Greek cities and everything else that reminds you of Greece and Standoff 2.

2D/3D illustrations and video are welcomed as a contest submission. They can be created with the use of both traditional and digital techniques.

Participation terms and conditions

— There are two nominations:(1) «2D/3D Art and illustration» and (2) «Video»;
— Entry image width must be bigger than 1080p;
— Entry video duration must be from 30 seconds up to 2 minutes;
— Artwork must be created specifically for the contest (works created before contest announcement won’t be accepted) and reflect the contest topic;
— Other artists’ works and copying their works are not allowed;
— Watermarks that may cause obstacles for artwork perception are not allowed on video;
— Images and descriptions must not violate community and game rules, governmental laws;
— You’re allowed to use the official asset kit that you can find here - https://standoff2.com/assets/. By using these assets, you agree with Axlebolt License agreement in archive within;
— If you’ll use additional elements from third parties such as textures, presets, etc. make sure they are labeled with a public license in order to avoid copyright infringements.

How to enter?

— Create an artwork themed “Greece in Standoff 2”;
— Upload it to BOT HELPER in official Discord until 15.08.2022;
— Don’t forget to write your Standoff 2 ID in the entry description;
— All contestants should record a timelapse video or have photos of their creative process and stages to prove that artwork belongs to them.

Arcade Rework 0.23.0

The Arcade mode has always been popular among players for its dynamic gameplay. Some mastered their shooting skills with the help of it, and others played it just for fun.

However, we’ve noticed that the mode has lost some of its excitement lately. So we’ve decided to change Arcade in the update 0.23.0 and make it even more dynamic and full of action.

Free-for-All
Let us introduce the Free-for-All mode, which will replace Arcade. It’s not only about a change of a name but also an entirely new essence. In Free-for-All everyone fights for themselves. Teamwork is no longer necessary. Your own skills are the only thing that matters.

One issue we noticed with the Arcade game mode is that it can be challenging for players to find their enemies on the map. This leads to slower combat and prolongs a match more than necessary. With Free-for-All, though, you won't have to worry about searching your opponents. They're everywhere!

More Firefights
In addition to the enemy search issue, players in the Arcade also faced the problem of short fighter lives. Just one extended firefight could quickly drain your health and ammunition.

To reward players who actively seek out firefights, we introduce a new system in Free-for-All. Every time you successfully take down an enemy, you’ll partially restore your health and ammunition. The more frags you accumulate, the longer you'll be able to stay alive.

But if you get taken down, don't worry. After reviving, you'll be able to see all enemies on the mini-map for a short period of time. This gives you the chance to take advantage and jump back into the action.

Other key elements of the Arcade mode, such as maps, weapon selection, and the number of players remain unchanged in Free-for-All. Whether you're looking to practice or have a relaxing match after a tough Competitive, Free-for-All is the perfect mode for endless fun, fights, and uncontrollable chaos.

📋 The alternate grenade throw button is back! We’ve improved the HUD in the update, and here are some of the changes. The killfeed no longer moves outside of the screen boundaries, and it shows the information on assists to everyone again. The numbering of players is back on the map in the spectator mode, and the tappable radar is now disabled by default.

ℹ️ Be sure to update the game to the newer version, because we’ve fixed numerous old bugs (but haven’t fixed some of the new ones just yet 🗿).

🎯 Season 8 is coming!

🚀 In this update we’re making changes to grenade physics: grenade trajectory will be more predictable and they won't slide on floors as much as they used to. Unfortunately, this means slide-based throwing strategies won’t work anymore. On Dune, for example, grenades won't fly out of the pipe as far.

💡 In custom lobbies, you can now enable a setting to show grenade trajectory and bounces. This will help you come up with new throwing strategies for the updated physics.

❓ Here's how the new container is going to work in Season 9.

Empire will be gone from the Shop soon, and this collection will be replaced by Dynasty. It will feature a classic case and a Crate instead of a Box. The Crate is a new container that costs 100 Coins. You can get both regular and temporary items from it.

📈 Thanks to that, there's an increased chance to get a higher-value item. So, any player will be able to rock a rare skin in a match even if it's only temporary. Additionally, we expect the regular Dynasty skins to be more expensive on the Marketplace (even the lower-rarity ones), which will make the cases more cost-effective.

ℹ️ Here's why we did it: most items from boxes are very hard to sell. They clutter the inventory and the Marketplace, and their price is incredibly low. With the new system, you'll have an easier time selling skins because they will increase in value, and you'll get a good chance to earn a profit.

The old collections will remain unchanged in Season 9. You'll still be able to buy Fable, Revenge, and Chameleon boxes.

Here's another important change: the rank difference in a match has been reduced. The maximum range has dropped down from 6 to 4 ranks. This means that, for example, Silver 3 players won't be matched against opponents whose rank is higher than Gold 3.

❓ What is the client-server and when is it coming out?

The client-server, also known as the remaster, is a major update of the game's network architecture. As part of this update, we're going to improve hit registration, detect and ban cheaters, as well as add new features into the game like replays or weapon physics.

📅 We've already run closed tests, and soon we want to launch open tests for anyone who wants to try the remaster. After these tests, we'll be able to see how much time we need to release the client-server version of the game.

❓Can I switch back to the old interface?

Short answer: no. The old interface was holding back the development of the game. Technically, it couldn't support new features you've been asking us to add, like selling multiple items at once, opening multiple cases at a time, stacking containers, and more. All of this can be possible now, and we're already working on these features.

But we can't have two versions of the interface at once because it would be impossible to support them both. And in that case, it would also heavily slow down development of any new features.

💬 That said, we're open to feedback on the new interface, and we'll keep making the UI even better!

❓ Do agents affect the gameplay?

No, they don't affect the in-game balance. Even though all the agents look different, their models and hitboxes are exactly the same. So there's no agent who's harder or easier to hit.

We also made sure agents are easy to see on every map. And not only their outfits help with that. We actually added an improved character visibility setting that makes all agents stand out more, and it's turned on by default.

🎨 When we start working on new agents in the future, we'll make sure they aren't harder to spot than others. No visibility advantages here.

❓ Why is the ping unstable and why do the servers go down?

🔧 We're doing everything we can to keep the servers stable and improve your connection to the server in the remastered version of the game.

But a server is so much more than you may think. There are dozens of third-party services and online tools behind it. Sometimes server problems happen on our end, but other times they don't. For example, there could be an outage with one of those third-party services, or widespread internet connection issues across the world or in a specific region.

🛜 Ping often depends on your internet provider and connection type, like Wi-Fi or mobile data. The remaster will help smooth out delays on our side. But even the remastered version of the game can't save you from a bad connection.

The latest update was focused on improving game mechanics and bringing the first elements of competition to Standoff 2.

We are talking about two new mechanics - impact after the fall and tagging.

We noticed that not all players warmly accepted them, so we consider it necessary to tell why these two mechanics were added to the game at all.

Impact after a fall is a mechanic that reduces the speed of a player’s movement after, in fact, a fall from a height or a jump. 

Tegging is the mechanic of slowing down the speed of a player’s movement when receiving damage.

These mechanics were introduced to reduce the effectiveness of abusing active attack tactics and generally aggressive style of play.

Previously, the more aggressive players had a clear advantage in the form of the possibility of an endless jumping, not reducing the speed of movement, and a small scatter when shooting in motion. Now the advantage is transferred into the hands of more accurate players, as it is necessary for the implementation of competitive gameplay, which implies a competent planning of their actions and a more accurate game.

Since these are very important mechanics, we actively follow your opinion about them. Therefore, in the next update, we will try to reduce the slowdown of impact on the speed of movement of the player, as we received reports that in its current form, this mechanics causes discomfort.

A: We’ve changed the ranks boundaries and now amount of your current MMR may correlate to another rank. To find out your new rank, you need to play at least one match after the update.

A: Yes, it did. The MMR appeared along with the Competitive mode but used to be hidden from players. Now it’s displayed in your profile, so you will be able to track your progress and better understand how the rating system works.
Q: The Battle Pass finished a while ago. When does the new season start? When will be the 0.14.0 update released?
A: The Battle Pass is a temporary event. The end of it isn’t related to the end of the season. Season 1 is still in progress and will be finished by the beginning of the next one, when you’ll have to recalibrate again.
The 0.14.0 update and Season 2 are in the final stage of development.

Yesterday, more than 50 000 accounts of violators were destroyed as a result of our special operation. Each of them received a permanent ban with 1001 code. So the total amount of blocked accounts for the same reason has now exceeded 346 000.

We’re extremely grateful for those who helped us and sent reports of violations.

We’re going to monitor the situation and collect the data for the next attack.

We’re getting reports of scam activity from similar to our email addresses. Scammers have registered a corporate domain looking almost like ours and started a mailout.

A Domain is the part of the email address that goes after “@”. For instance, our domain: «@AXLEBOLT.com.»

We kindly ask you to be very cautious if you receive an email from a similar address. Now we’re searching for mechanisms to withdraw all look-alike domains to avoid future occurrence of such situations.

Just for the record, our official email address is [e-mail]. It can be found on all our social media and apps distribution platforms (such as Google Play, App Store etc.). And correspondingly our official domain is «@AXLEBOLT.com.»

We also want to remind you, the only type of data that studio workers can ask you is your in-game ID or screenshots of your purchases invoice in case of money refund.
