I think they’re referring to how the games are rushed and also the fall of reach wasn’t a book length. In the book The Fall of Reach it’s only like 80 pages out of 340 in the 2001 edition and it’s in space. Halo: First Strike has more time on reach and on the ground, but it too ends quickly. Halo: Reach stretched it out which yk, dampens how dangerous the Covenant are because it took them a month to beat a far weaker technologically planet than them.

The underlying theme for S2 was ultimately a fundamental breakdown of him by asking "What does he mean to humankind?"

Throughout S2, you see him repeatedly grapple with his “luck” leaving him the last one standing and how many people by his side had perished. The Mother even gave the whole theme

“Have you...family...Spartan...have you faith? These things are not for you"

And Perez fully established what he means to people in Episode 7:
“Or something you are...something you can’t see...but you feel it.”

ONI saw him as merely a guy in the suit that they can propagandize, Parangosky even said as much. During the Fall of Reach and the Battle of Installation 04, however, we see his true value suit or no suit, especially when Keyes brought him up to introduce him suitless to the fellow Marines.

There's no denying this version's maverick and emotional beats, but when the chips are down, he steels himself to legend and duty - his fellow soldiers too - deeply, most blatantly shown by his decision to go AWOL and rescue Kai and the IIIs

The religious undertones are quite strong in S2, it’s evident with how the Sanctuary people found their faith in not abandoning the planet when it was glassed, and Perez's constant prayers and reliance on luck to survive

The UNSC got off okay despite everything thanks to well-placed belief and luck by way of Cheeksie, while Makee and Arby become fanatics independent of the Covenant and the former (through Cortana) manipulating his faith in order to pursue her twisted version of the Great Journey

There were some good things from the show, for example:
We had accurate designs of the Spartans armour, grunts and jackles looked amazing and we were introduced to the spartan III.
Things I hate are:
The flood, looks off and took very long to infect someone, the elites armour, and most importantly, they removed chiefs helmet.

Fallout show literally just going "oh hey these guys are the Enclave, they're bad" but giving us nothing else beyond that (at least for a while anyway) was something they could have avoided.
The only real bit we have about them is "they do bad stuff to doggos" and thats...it.

Fans of the games know who they are and why they're bad but they dont bother to explain that in the show. It's not entirely neccecary but I feel knowing who they are adds suspence.

Also, I really dislike how they show how T-60 works.
Like...its too light. I know its powered but it doesnt have the same WEIGHT it should. This is a suit of armor with an exoskeleton underneath, its not being "worn" so much as dirven. It should move like a tank.

MJLONIR feels like MJLONIR. And seeing stuff like Kai outrunning a Warthog and hurling herself up onto a ship works for that nicely too.

Again, if you watch it move, it doesnt interact with the world around it right.
It should kick up puffs of dust when it steps on sand, or throw dirt when it moves.

Take, for example, the Spartans drop in the very first episode of Season 1; when they hit dirt, they throw up material and dust.
You can FEEL the impact of servos and support frames taking the 1000 pounds of Spartan and armor when Kai lands on the roof.

Compare that to the T-60 flying during one of the shootouts, where three or four tiny Iron-man style thrusters somehow lift this massive walking tank and throw it around the sky like its nothing.

Even the crash seems kind of...weird.
But then moments later when Maximus is out of the armor he needs a car winch to get it up.
So it goes from weight nothing to weight a lot the moment hes out of it, which would make MORE sense for the secondary form...

The spartan IIIs in the show actually seemed more competent than the ones in the books, to me at least. IIIs are kmart budget spartans with ODST+ armor. In the books they send like 1000 of em at one facility and iirc only two survive. I say they seem more competent because their SPI armor doesn't have any cloaking and yet they still manage to perform at least fairly well. In the books all they had going for them was the cloaking and sheer numbers.

Kind of looking at it the wrong way. 1000 top of the line IIs in GEN3 Mark VI would've died the exact same way as Beta Company-Glassing from orbit doesn't care how skilled you are, it's superheated plasma that can punch through both sides of a UNSC Battlecruiser's hull and every deck plate in between.

Also, there were only 300ish IIIs deployed each at the operations that caused Alpha and Beta to go the way of the dodo.

Also also, the thought of IIIs being 'discount' Spartans is inherently goofy fandom falsehood-the armor is cheaper, but it's better than ODST plate. Their augmentations are easier to apply, but about the same level as effective.

That’s what happens when you respect the source material. My wife knows next to nothing about Fallout and almost everything about Halo outside of actually playing the game thanks to my being a 20+ year fan of the franchise and she loved the Fallout show way more. Yeah, the whole thing about taking their pills (I actually don’t remember if it was a pill or something else) to remove their emotions and then stop taking them to feel emotions… I don’t recall seeing this in the game/book? And I find it’s not an interesting idea, it should just be that they were trained as they are and just don’t care of “feelings”, they still have feelings, but were trained to control them and suppress them when it’s time to fight for their lives. They are like machine but capable of understanding their own emotions and others emotions; they just never let them be in the way.

I don't know too much lore on the enhancements, but if it works by increasing the air intake then breathing in more air would look the same as being out of breath for a normal human, but they could cycle in through their respiratory system faster.

I haven’t finished the second season, but this is a show called Halo and I have yet to see action on the actual Halo. I feel like people give to much importance to Masterchief as if the game should have been called Legend of Masterchief 🤣 but the real deal is the Halo ring and how amazed we were the first time we set foot on that structure. I grew up playing the games, was 17 when Halo 2 released. I don’t play them now so not sure it’s my entire personality. I do love a good self sabotage story so when a franchise depicts their mainline hero as a toxic, armorless dude who doesn’t care about consent. I want to understand how that is halo. If you are viewing it from consumers perspective, yeah why wouldn’t I want more of whatever I love. The service is evaluating the entire portfolio looking for weak spots to bolster to bring new viewers.
