I like how people say this, but hypothetically if they do get up to an extremely high rank by "abusing the system" it won't benefit them in any way. If it really would be that easy to abuse it, they'd never win a game once getting up to the higher ranks anyway. It'd be a giant waste of time. And also, the 0 cr for leaving after your teammate already has should obviously only apply in solo queue, so you can't just do that with a friend or something. People all the time talk about how others can abuse a feature like that, but doing that wouldn't benefit them

It's not a get out of jail free card, it would only leave no punishment for the person who leaves second, the first person should still be banned after doing it a few times within a short period. It doesn't defeat the purpose either, if someone is dumb enough to grind all the way to onyx just to be like "wow woah cool rank look-" it doesn't matter because now congrats, you'll never win a game because that's not your actual skill level. I honestly feel like a feature like this has already been added because sometimes in arena I get queued up with people up to 4 ranks diverse both up and down from mine, which is a huge skill gap

Also the amount of luck it would take to hypothetically get a teammate that leaves first every single time until you really did get all the way up to onyx, would take a substantially longer time than just getting the skills required to get to that rank without abusing a rank system

That's always such a good feeling. I've gotten 40+ kills per match on a hog with a decent driver, though most of the time it's people jumping out in the worst possible spots, standing still in front of enemies, or just driving in a straight line towards them lol

Pretty sure people got banned if they quit many matches (ranked or not) because I recall people complaining of getting banned after the games crashed/they lost connection. So that was def a thing. MCC, Infinite, w/e. And iirc, there was a blog years ago explaining that from now on, if 25% of the players from one team left (often 1 out of 4 in TS) the rest would receive no penalties for leaving too, because by missing 1 player it could already "doom" the match for the others.

Gold-Plat is typically around average knowing the movement, maps, and aim decently.
Diamond is where the skills start showing off and an average player can get there by being smart and coordinating better. Onyx is where it's blood thirsty against skill issued spartans

Eons ago when I was still into achievement hunting and 100%ing stuff on Xbox, I suffered to get some cruise missile cheevo on Medal of Honor because there was only 500 players on average, so I know how that can be. I think Infinite's still doing good enough in that regard

The problem with it being so dependent on team wins for your rank is that is doesn't encourage team play like you think it would. It seems to encourage people to get really mad if their teammate is having a bad match because they hit the rhythm wrong, or encourages the player to blame their team for their loss rather than seeing where they can help out or protect the one that is struggling

I'm always the type to go for kills, but 1. I've always played like that, and I've always solo-queued, so it's what I do best, and 2. I try to be smart about it, I stick close to the objective and if I'm not attacking ppl occupying it, I'm preventing them from reaching my teammates at the very least, and 3. if I see my teammates are doing the same (and actually being good at it instead of just feeding kills), then I simply switch and play the obj while they do the running around.

One of my teammates the entire game got 2 seconds of occupation time, I get prioritizing one over the other but LITERALLY only going for kills is bad no matter what. It wasn't a "everyone else was at the hill so I am going t-" he just didn't go to it. Ever. He literally played slayer.

It wasn't patched. The way commendations worked in Reach was that you got less cR the higher you levelled up the commendation until eventually you got nothing.

Yeah, I've played with ppl who run around "for kills" thinking they're helping, but 90% of the time they're on the other side of the map, away from the objective, and they're not actively attacking the enemies that are closer to the objective. So people who actually play the objective are still getting "the aggro" from the other enemies

Was it really that way? I thought there were clearly defined "ranks" for each commendation, and each commendation required more and more points obviously, until you maxed them out. Still same result, but the method is important imo.

All I remember is that people used to play Campaign and custom firefight to farm and it was patched, which, to be fair, made kinda sense, it wasn't a perfect system, but it took some of the incentive away and it wasn't replaced with anything, so that wasn't great.

Twitter was probably the app that was closest to being a public service tool. Live news worldwide, hub for artists/content creators, a platform for companies/services to reach their customers easily, and a plethora of other things. It was by no means perfect, and like every other app/platform it's been getting worse over time due to how these companies operate in the first place. But to say it used to be worse and now it's somehow getting better is a massive stretch and requires ignoring all the utility it's had until now and how things are going for it now

You should definitely give it a try at some point, if it goes on sale, or if you're looking for something slowpaced. It's actually a really nice game, I played it when it came out, and then replayed it recently after the Director's Cut sale thing. I enjoyed it back then but I enjoyed it even more this time around because I had a different approach to it. I was more mindful, paid more attention to my resources, and just used all the tools the game offered in a more efficient way, but most of all, I just took it easy. A lot of games are best enjoyed like that.

I have very little experience with BF in general, so I'm not the best to say. Some games I just follow (rather, followed) through game news, industry news, etc. They definitely looked pretty good back in the day, like a competitor to CoD but that offered a different kind of experience, then of course came the bad biz decisions so it really lost its appeal. After seeing all the comparisons with Battlebit Remastered, I'm hopeful it'll induce some change, but I'm not particularly holding my breath

I'm more of a steam kinda guy, and haven't really used Game Pass that much, so for me it'd probably be lost, as in, I don't like playing games in a rush/with a deadline, and I care more about having my library/records on steam as opposed to xbox, plus, if i happen to like a game, I'm more inclined towards buying it on steam, which would require starting all over, so...

Then again, in your case that might be best. If you think there's a chance you might not like it, better to play it via Game Pass instead. The game's pretty fun IMO, but if it doesn't hook you immediately, you might need to play a few more hours before it clicks for you. So Game Pass is advantageous in that regard.
