Still confused
It's a mistaken belief that it's a 'realistic' take on science fiction.
The act man?
In Halo's case.
Yep
Absolutely disgusting, that.
I'm glad I make sure his cringe never shows up in my feed.
Halo is semi-realistic
Yes, but weirdly large groups of people think it is.
From the UNSC perspective
Why lol
Usually, it's a Reach fan who thinks that.
The UNSC is semi realistic
It was a great video
Everything else, just no
I’m a reach fan
Because it's Tate-tier trash.
Guy's insights are absolutely misguided and laughable. He's a cringefest within and without.
He doesn't even have the grace to lean into it.
Marty O’Donnell likes him
Oh good, another reason to loathe his guts.
Thanks for that, wasn't sure if I needed another.
I really can see why people don't like Reach, but i'm not one of those people
And his halo lore videos are really insightful
Nah.
Reach definitely has it's problems
Hatred is a poison you take my friend…
They're misguided at best. And I'm being very generous by saying misguided.
Hatred is a poison you take expecting your enemy to die, it’s bad for the soul
And yet you willingly consume his.
The better question is how they went from Halo Landfall, the ODST trailer, the Reach Trailer, to Halo Forward Unto Dawn... then suddenly drop the ball hard when Hollywood got involved.
I stopped watching Act Man awhile ago
Yes because his videos are well produced and insightful
... Not even close, but I weep for media literacy nonetheless.
God the ODST trailer still slaps today
A friend of Marty is a friend of mine.
Media literacy?
"Media literacy is an expanded conceptualization of literacy that includes the ability to access and analyze media messages as well as create, reflect and take action, using the power of information and communication to make a difference in the world."
Have you even seen the recent video?
No, because it's the typical trash he'd normally produce and I have no interest in watching something so wretched as his trash people call 'content'.
Not everything has to make a difference. His content is insightful and entertaining. The guy makes me chuckle sometimes
Speak for yourself.
He’s funny and entertaining
I watched it
Nah. Anyone who drops hard Rs and gets pissy that it's not allowed isn't either.
Agree to disagree I guess
Bro 😂
He just re-explains the plot of CE and says it should've been the Halo series
I'm not on Twitter. Just informed about the things people are.
Its like two separate worlds in here...
I'm trying to stay positive
I'm not when it comes to him.
Go to youtube and look up "the Road to Halo Infinite".
Really good video
Already saw it
What about Ascend Hyperion?
Neutral. Don't really watch his content.
Ok
I don't really watch many Halo CC's content. Most are uniformly degenerate.
Those that aren't are diamonds in rough.
You seem really jaded
"Informed."
Nah, just opinionated. Nothing wrong with that
About desiring better content? Absolutely, I think Halo deserves better than them.
Why do you hate them so much 😂
Halo deserves better than Paramount
Just take a chill pill
Poor criticism, poor attitudes, poor fanbase, poor inflection, and poor aspirations.
You don’t seem to have any substantive criticisms of these figures
Poor in what way?
Inflection?
They have an annoying manner of speaking in terms of speech patterns and or voice.
Fair enough I guess
....Is he bashing The Act Man?
Yes.
I love how even after submitting a ticket my settings still reset every time I launch the game
Yeah 💀
Infinite or mcc? And pc or console?
Ah. I like Kelly, he's alright.
His name is Kelly?
Xbox and Infinite
...Yeah it is.
I miss when I didn't know that.
Hmm. That’s definitely odd. Not happening for me
Is it somehow amusing that his name is Kelly?
No more amusing than his content.
Kelly Slater is one of the best surfers of all time.... but lolz Kelly?
😂
It's also really weird to refer to someone by their first name rather than their handle.
And generally frowned upon outside of personal chats.
Like Chris from Halo Follower?
Isn't Halo Follower more than one person?
For real
If yes, than no, it's less weird in that case. If no, then yes, it is weird in that case.
Yes but they go by their first names to identify themselves
Thanks for sharing your opinion. I'll refer to someone how I wish to.
First names r crazy
Nah, not allowed.
Just illegal to refer to people how you wish, I don't make the rules.
💀
Nope sorry never played it
Any other Paradox games?
Nope. None at all
HBS Battletech, Stellaris, uh... A few others. Why?
Ok so
Have you unlocked nerve stapling?
I’m in a game with a few other real players
Yes
6 others
Have you nerve stapled them?
I’ve got a megacorp, right? Good economy, weak military and technology though
We are at mid game, year 2300
Ah, quicker game, okay
I think end game is around 2500 or something like that
Anyways I’ve carved out about 1/16 of the east wing of the galaxy for myself
But i’m about 10-20 years behind my opponents, technologically
And no one wants my resources even though I have so much of them
How can I win this
Like, you have tons of alloys, yes?
Become cool robots.
Have you built the Science Nexus yet?
https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/1085123564832821268/1104970443523362827/image.png
Here are the important bits of the map right now, I’m the yellow bit on the left
Sorry, I nearly exclusively play cybernetic intelligence. I don't know any other answer.
No
And I have about +40 alloy and 6k or so saved up
1.) Build a Science Nexus. Gives you I think +350 to all science values
also about 70k energy credits with +250
I don’t have the tech for that do I?
No gameplay affecting ones
Or pure vanilla?
Okay
Build science ships and assign them to boost research on your planets
I can do that?
Alright
Also my colonies keep slipping in and out of instability
I think it’s cause of lack of jobs and amenities but I can’t really fix that
I have plenty of consumer goods but jobs I literally can’t fix
... Hmn. This is not something playing as robots can allow for advisement of.
Build additional science structures on your worlds and assign researchers manually.
Note the ships won't boost 0 research.
I build the research stations on colonies, yes?
Colonize more worlds and transfer people over
I’ve colonized about all I can
Population controls then
Greetings spartans
Buildings, yes
There’s a couple of worlds out at the border of my space with a 50% rating but I don’t really think that’s worth it when I’m already struggling with my current colonies
I forgot how many generic drums were in the original Modern Warfare 2 soundtrack. I didn't even realize I was listening to it until I heard a specific riff.
Um this is a Halo chat people
This is general
Use envoys to steal technology (long process).
Get the science traditions.
There are some artificat things that can boost research
Ah, but it is a General Halo chat.
I play Stellaris exclusively as the UEG
I modeled my empire after the IMC from titanfall but I’ve been overly progressive and xenophilic I think
I usually only play as hive minds or highly stable monarchies.
kinda self insert empire
I also usually kill only the first primitives I run across because worlds are fun to have
Xenophobic expansionism is the way to go. Owning 1/8th the galaxy without firing a shot
Guys can we talk about halo because this is a Halo discord
The Railgun is cooler than the Spartan Laser in all areas.
So here’s the thing, I think I can do a big research agreement with the current biggest empire (real player) in exchange for vassalization
Gif denied.
Arclight is so nasty
Giant chunk of magnetically launched metal my beloved
No no no, Xenophobic ethics give a discount on influence cost for stations, so you can claim unclaimed systems faster
Way more based than cringe photons
Interesting
I don’t have any xenophobic ethics I think
I’m currently going for “whatever makes us the most money”
Cya guys tomorrow, I'm getting tired
Well doesn't matter by 2300
Bye
One of the other players actually just told me something
Kill them, Titan
He wants to help me and another empire destroy my southern neighbor
The fact they felt like giving you a hint is all the more reason to ultimately slit their throat for daring to think you needed assistance
I get some of the land and all of this guy’s tech (he’s the biggest player right now) but I become a vassal
So I basically get to the heights of the biggest player but become a own
pawn*
Is anyone willing to chat about halo than random stuff
And I also get a largeish arm of the galaxy
#halo-discussion is right down there! 🙂
My brother in the Rings you need to start the convo.
I don’t think anyone is super active there right now
Sure. What do you think of Starcraft and Halo having a crossover should Activision be finally acquired by Microsoft?
That might be kinda cool actually
I will only accept a Halo x Battletech crossover.
I would prefer Transformers lol
I mean think about it.
The "United Earth Directorate" or UED is only one letter change to UEG, our good Unified Earth Government.
I thought microsoft were blocked from buying Activision anyway
Master Chief and Optimus Prime to great leaders game is called Halo United or Halo Alliance I prefer United
By the British but they are appealing
I don't see them changing their minds tbh it took them like a year to say no
But what do I know
@valid ingot Master chief vs doomslayer
Well that's not how appeal works, they are going to a different government body to overturn the decision or whatever.
They could also just not sell Activision games in Britain
Hard Doomslayer win.
10/10. Chief is actually pretty low on the Space Marine power scale.
Yeah, easiest fight in the world
Literally hydrogen bomb vs coughing baby
Doomslayer lose
Not even close unless you know nothing about both.
Doom Slayer literally held the line against an infinitely replenishing enemy for long enough without superpowers that he lost his mind.
And then he got superpowers, and did it even harder.
They literally started to worship him
Literally casually tanked punches from 50+ story tall monsters without caring at all.
Ha he needs super powers
The immortal forces of literal Hell started to worship him
Still a better story than the Halo TV series
LOL, I think about it like this: The Covenant calls him "Demon". Doomslayer kills demons, right?
I'm on Chief's side, though.
I mean, the alternative is Chief as an unaugmented child, because augmentations are superpowers.
So literally "Grown man who made killing demons his full time job versus slightly uppity teen"
Better question: How would the Slayer fair if he was plopped down on the UNSC’s side in Halo? Assume he has his powers (minus the immortality for balance’s sake) but also is sane
Early teen
Guys you are clueless
You haven't made a defense besides insults to us, so.
Calling Augmentations superpowers is like calling Science Magic
Both the Chief And doom fight pathetic with their fists
Magic is science.
Nah hold on, let him cook
Let’s see what happens with his dish
Telling yah now, he's gonna burn it.
How they fight is stupid and weak
Not really.
Solution: some just fires the Halo Rings and renders the fight mute. Win-win
Goku could beat both anyways
I mean, Kat said she could easily punch a hole through Six's helmet... that's titanium.
They need to add kicks round kicks side kicks spin side spin 360 kick
She also has a titanium arm, so maybe what she specifically said isn’t a good representation of every spartan?
Well, she's a Spartan III, Spartan IIs were better, right?
Atriox crushed a helmet. Perfectly possible
Yeah, that's true.
Technically yes, practically not really
Also the prime specimen of a Jiralhanae the galaxy over
Yeah. Fair point.
It's unreliable to go off book feats or game feats for Halo tbh.
Master Chief needs to fight like me a black belt martial artist which is:Karate Taekwondo and Jujitzu
He’s like twice the size of other brutes lol
IIRC he's actually below standard brute sizes.
That's... Not actually all that special, tbh.
He's one of a rogues gallery in Halo that's actually not that big.
Atriox?
Yes, weirdly enough.
He's pretty average in terms of size last I checked, unless that changed.
His weird aspect was his drive and unseeming physical strength, but he wasn't a Xytan.
Could probs body Tartarus though.
My instructor is Veteran Black belt trained since 11 years old and severed as a Marine like Master Chief for 14 years.
If atriox was average wouldn’t that make tartarus ultra powerful?
Maybe.
I mean, tartarus wasn’t small by brute standards
I mean sizewise.
Contact Harvest made that very clear
Not actual ability wise.
But I thought Tartarus was rather skinny.
Master Chief isn’t a marine
Was never a marine
Yeah.
The only Spartans who were Marines were IVs.
Um search it brother
Chief wasn't ever a Marine.
You’re talking to some of the most dedicated lore nerds the world over right now
Not to say that we are always right 100% of the time but like… come on
He's a non-commisioned officer.
He did fight alongside marines plenty of times but he was Navy for most of his tenure
NAVSPECWAR, to be clear
Master Chief is Navy. The rank is Navy, SPARTAN II was under the Office of NAVAL Intelligence, and Spartan II Teams worked for NAVSPECWAR
Well at least I can fight better than the Chief
Yup.
The man's title is literally a Naval rank. He was never a Marine. And if you knew anything about being one, you'd know your Gunny would be ripping your head off right now.
Indeed.
I’ll take your word for it
Master Chief needs to know Martial arts
He does. It's literally a solid chunk of his training.
what do you think he learned on Reach for 8 years? Finger painting?
It’s not a question of basic combat efficacy, Doom Guy is literally a walking god
No he doesn't all he throws are those pathetic haymakers
It may be strong but it's not how u fight
Actually, Trench, aren’t all combat branches taught some martial arts during basic training? As part of hand to hand combat?
Or is that just something China likes to do for propaganda
Yup.
Yes, even though the Air Force's is woefully inadequate.
XD.
Yes Combatives as they call it now
I could parry with both arms then manipulate his arms then do a blood choke and boom chief is dead
There's general combatives trained by all Branches. The USMC takes pride in having its own 'special' one.
Dead
You do realize Chief could break your neck like a toothpick, right?
... Not actually sure if that pride means much though, Marines are just generally prideful people.
You know Chief has reinforced bones right?
Let’s put it this way
If Chuck Norris tried to do a roundhouse on Arnold Swarzenegger in his prime, he probably wouldn’t get very far
(Who taught this dude about Chief?)
Don't forget Spartan Time either...
Yeah.
Well my instructor always tells like always fight smarter not harder pal
Both in their prime, I think Chuck might actually have great odds against Ahnold.
Know that
Even without MJOLNIR he could beat a non-augmented human.
"Smarter" in this case is choosing not to pick a fight with a man who can snap your femur like a toothpick.
No matter what you do to him.
No
Both in their prime maybe, but not today Chuck Norris
XD.
How u fight
And I mean literally like a toothpick. Between his fingers.
He has prep time though
Hey go watch the scene where ODSTs get murdered by teenage John
XD, I saw that.
U guys are goners when someone attacks u
Savage.
You can win any fight with prep time
Superman coming for your head? Just lure him into a building made of kryptonite
First step to winning a fight is to avoid being in a situation where you forced to be in one
Having been attacked, I know that's not true. Minus the time I got sucker punched with a vodka bottle.
That one I lost.
Yeah that one looked nasty
Indeed.
How has that healed btw? Well I hope?
Concussion was the worst of it, no bone breakage or anything.
That’s good
That's good.
Ego might take a while to recover though.
Lol
Mm, yeah.
Except for when it comes to Halo lore stuff, I know more than most people here
That's healthier than ever
Say master chief does a haymaker I slip and uppercut his floating rib and punch his solar plexes so he has a breathing moment then I sidekick his knee and break it then I blood choke him and he's out in 5 second is dead in 8
You realize you had your entire lower jaw ripped off at about step .5.
Dude.
No
He has unbreakable bones.
Y’all are getting baited hard
What part of reinforced bones did you not understand

FR.
Eh, I'm mildly enjoying this. I know it's bait.
It's like saying an actual, living human has a chance of taking on Andre the Giant in a straight boxing match.
Oh I forgot one as to sweep him then hammer fist his throating knifehand or ridge hand it
XD, no REAL Halo fan could think that they can beat Chief in melee.
We get it, you took a Taekwondo class in 2005.
No
Oh, please tell me it wasn't Karate, the Dane Cook of martial arts.
2 years and a quater
I took one for... Like. I think four or five years.
Quater? Didn’t they host the world cup?
Mostly won sparring medals at state tournaments because I didn't kick people, just got inside guards and punched them.
Nah. Waste of energy and effort. Legs are for blocking the other idiot's kick.
Sweep the leg do a double leg take down
I’m more of a siege warfare kind of person
For the love of the Rings, stop being cringe.
"The candidate's bones are exposed via surgery or procedurally sequential surgeries. An advanced carbide ceramic material is grafted onto the skeletal structure to begin assimilation into the upper layers of the each individual bone. This results in the bones being virtually unbreakable. The coverage of this procedure does not exceed 3% total bone mass due to significant white blood cell necrosis: effectively, the carbide ceramic can only comprise a thin outer "shell" bonded to each bone without interfering with bone functionality as organs."
Do HIPTHROW
Dude.
I fractured a kid’s knuckle on a block once
He would SNAP YOUR SPINE.
Hell, an unarmored IV could.
Can we get a spine snapping gif in here?
He tried to punch me after a sparring match (he was a sore loser) and i blocked it, he ended up fracturing his knuckle because of the ankle
XD.
Not an X ray, shameful
Also I love using weapon training knifes and worse dagger shurikens no staffs and learning front and backflipd
It'd be worse than that, though, right?
How's everyone's day going?
There are none in tenor 😭
Pretty good, and yours?
... Okay, maybe not trolling, but definitely a mall ninja of some variety.
We do weapon training swords daggers knifes nunchucks staffs and etc
Ninja school
LMAO.
Not sure if that's better or worse.
Blart. Paul Blart.
Worse for sure.
Pretty decent, just hopped on the MCC, gonna wait a bit to see if someone wants to join, but if not will probably just play through Halo 3 solo
Cool, cool.
Invite Sam to Halo 3. Rumor is Sam never played it
And plus if someone dares attacks me it's night night for them
What if I try and kill you with a gun
M41 can handle you, dude.
What if I try and kill you with a gun from 50 meters away
Are you looking for someone in campaign or multiplayer?
Fine
What if I try and kill you with a M249
Fine I'll
Accuracy by volume style
XD.
Campaign, specifically on legendary, but willing to turn down the dificulty if the oher person wants
What about that rifle that actually has no rounds? The sonic one?
Nah nah, use an M73
Not familiar
Shoot his leg with my now and then I'll run and towards him break his hands both of them then I the police
Oh okay. #lfg-campaign might help if you haven’t already tried it yet
With a bow
What if I shoot you first
...
I have messaged there, thank you for letting me know though
I'll suck and shoot u in the bous
LMG seen in Halo Reach concept art. Someone ended up modding it into the game though.
Honestly, if this isn't trolling, it's honestly just sad.
About the sonic rifle? That's not the real name for it.
Duck not suck
Hard Sound Rifle.
has anyone seen the video of the irl m90 shotgun?
I'll duck and shoot u in the boys
No
Though likely to not find many people if anyone at this time of night lol
Yep. Pretty cool.
Hmm
No, but why use literally anything over a Benelli M4?
It seems interesting, but... I mean, it's also 12/10 gauge, isn't it?
I'd be more interested in a Bulldog clone as of late.
10? Jeez
The shotguns are 8 gauge.
But I'm weird and like drum mag shotties.
I'm talking about the simulacrum.
Dang.
I’d like to see a mjolnir suit try and take a 3 gauge
3 gauge??
Master Chief needs martial arta
Oh, OK.
Would certainly be a fun Banished weapon
I am silently crying in happiness that you didn't ask me what a simulacrum was.
Hayden
No
Drat
Your name is Not Important.
Hint it means John
Jonas
Bruh I said means
MasterChief1663#0901
It means John
Juozas
Also, it's only the M90 and M45 lines (And possibly the DTM line?) that are 8 Gauge. The Bulldog is 12 Gauge.
Give up? Easily?
feel bad for the marines stuck firing those
Caleb
Tomfoolery indeed.
Ohh. I didn't know that. That explains a lot about its power.
It's starts with a Z
Eh, better to have a sore arm than one that’s been cut off by an energy sword
They loved it. That one retired Marine in the Halo 3 Believe Campaign said it was his choice of weapon
cant argue with that
haha i remember him
Hmm titan give up?
I'm sure that Marine who lost his arm below the elbow from a Brute Spiker's blades after hitting a Brute with a shotty feels the same.
XD.
LMAO.
I’m sorry, that’s mean
It's Zane what is that a name you've never heard of?
Zane means John so I am Master Chief
Nope. I've heard that one.
Just joking lom
Ilsa Zane moment
Hm. Suuuure.
She was the crazy chick that hijacked Infinity right?
Dinh's honestly straight up the cutest Spartan ever in Halo
O need Chief serum then boo. I would destroy the chief
Yes
honestly
i love him
If I had chief serum i would win
You'd likely die wracked in complete agony while it twisted your bones and nerves into a cornucopia because Halsey is actually pretty incompetent.
Dinh book when?
I like Kurt-081 simplu becausw he's am 8ft spartan
I'm writing one where him and my MP Spartan fall in love and do cute things together
No you guys need to listen the. Talk more often
Listen less talk
Woah hey what
We need a canonically gay Spartan couple tbh
sam was 7 ft but he died really young(14) and kurt was 41 so it's likely sam wouldve towered
You can’t bypass the filter
Coupla IVs, total besties
Set an example lol
Ohh. OK.
Oh my goodness this chatvlol
...
hiiiiiiiii
Dinh x Trenchbird
Why not?
Please canonize it 343, I have the best Spartan ever.
lesbian spartans
I’ll go and talk to Phil Spencer and see what I can do
Lmao
That just is kinda wrong. Spartans don't normally have attachments to others like that.
That would be cute
No GLBTQ gangs thank u
IVs.
Spartan IIs dont*
Given the conflict of interest and the need to maintain military standards, no, Spartans cannot be in love with one another except if they were in a prior relationship before becoming Spartans.
what do you mean?
Bro
He's saying no thanks to gay Spartans.
Upon approval of an exception to policy of course by the relevant UNSC Human Resources Command
Like I am.
Actually, that's almost never really an issue unless it causes workplace disturbances or is proven to cause troubles in command.
spartan 4's aren't as mentally scared as 2's (maybe 3's?)
Alpha Nine…
Arent modern ones just mostly human
They were ODST.
There had to have been at least one bromance in Alpha-9
Most (all?) became spartans
wait really? i assumed it was no relationships under any circumstances
Have we forgotten about black team
They were more like siblings
Most ODSTs were not made into Spartans. In fact, an overwhelming minority were made into Spartans.
Spartan IIs were all siblings essentially
would that mean odsts are like a pre spartan program
Many IVs were ODSTs, but most ODST were not made into IVs.
That’s not what the whole love triangle with Victor Otto and Margaret was about
No
Otherwise you will start a war with the Kelly vs Linda debate
I was specifically talking about Alpha-9
What about them?
The pre spartan program was the Orion project
Nope. It's gently frowned upon at times, but if there's no actual workplace drama that causes a hampering mission issue, it's not considered a problem.
Did Romeo go Spartan? I know Buck and Dutch did.. right?
They all did
It's also not considered a problem if, say, the pair was the same rank.
Including Gretchen
May I ask what book this is from cause I’ll love to read it lol
Mickey I know went and defected after becoming a spartan
Insurrectionist scumbag
i meant unofficially since so many odsf joined the spartan program
Its majorily frowned upon in more tightnit units, especially special forces
IVs have been everything from pilots to civilian ambassador-linguist contractors with a military history to ODSTs to Army Snipers.
I forgot the name of it, I’m no help on that but a google search might help
Evolutions
The At Times is more of an issue. But I assure you from canon precedent that Halo apparently doesn't consider it an issue.
It was a short story in Halo Evolutions, don't remember which volume
Thanks
For example, Gretchen and Dutch are married and both IVs in the same unit. Unless the UNSC is somehow incredibly regressive, I don't see why it'd be an issue for anyone else.
I mean instead they killed off Black Team off frame
Gretchen and Dutch.
I mean… they are a hyper imperialist anocracy
Hell, Buck and Dare.
They were likely married prior, I believe
I don’t expect them to be particularly progressive
They were both Special Forces when they got married anyways.
Dare isn't a Spartan
How would you all feel able adding a "General" Forum?
She is special forces.
Dare is ONI
Still a workplace relationship
And works a lot with Spartans in their chain of command.
Buck was Spartan Branch
And took orders from Dare.
Spartan Branch is independent from ONI
Dare is still a spook but is married to Buck I think
They literally married like, after Earth fell to Cortana
Clearly not, if Spartans with ONI symbols are running around and ONI is confirmed to have multiple Spartans in their ranks doing shady stuff for them.
It's "Independent" in the same way Noble Team was "Independent".
Locke was an ONI Agent to begin with
ONI not having it's fingers in something is like expecting a child not to touch something
But he's Spartan branch now.
And Kilo-Five? Naomi?
Either way, it's getting off the point that clearly the UNSC has no issue with couples in the same unit provided it doesn't hamper combat effectiveness.
Yo homies, just added a thread you may be interested in checking out
Not a problem either way haha, just wanting to let you know 🙂
I see ya'll having a good discussion about some Halo lore
I've still seen him referred to as Agent, idk.
ONI, NAVSPECWAR
He's still Spartan Branch. He's called "Spartan Locke" by some.
Either way, biiiiig thing here, precedent.
Is she naval intelligence or still spartan branch
Alright
Yeah, they were never integrated into Spartan Branch
Navy refused to hand them over
Most likely, at least
I don’t think that’s true
Spartan IIs typically fall under ONI jurisdiction under Section Three, but not always.
"However, the surviving Spartan-IIs and select Spartan-IIIs remain in the UNSC Navy branch's Special Forces."
As for the IIs remaining Navy, that was mostly a personal choice.
(And personally a weird one that seems mostly tailor made to having Chief keep his silly title)
Nah it makes sense
But then the "Spartan Commander John" doesn't roll off the tongue quite right.
No military branch would want to give up a capability to another
It's the none of them that bothers me, even when the branch is literally formed by one.
The IIs aren't a branch.
IIs are under Navy Command
People would still call him Master Chief, let’s be real
I mean, he’s a marketable figure, canonically
Yes, I said that, you said that.
They made toys of him
The Navy wouldnt give them to the Spartan Branch
It was largely a personal decision to remain. They were given the chance.
Spartan IVs didn't exist until the Spartan Branch existed
I think it was phrased more as a choice that the twos decided on than the navy’s decision as a whole
How many IIs even exist at the time of Infinite?
Did they really have much of a choice though?
"The active Spartan-IIs were given the choice of "pulling together" the remaining Spartan-IIIs and integrating them into the SPARTAN-IV program."
Sounds like they had complete personal choice in the matter.
like, 4 or 5 squads?
Mm, OK.
Besides Blue Team: Chief was still on ice, Grey team was on ice, Naomi was with Kilo-5, Red Team on the Spirit of Fire...
Black Team completely unmentioned
The spartans are all legendary and highly respected members of the UNSC
Indeed.
It's also a branch named Spartan Branch, lmao.
Every single one was considered a war hero and had a lot of autonomy
Hell, Chief was offered the rank of admiral by Lord Hood, no strings attached
It's more the fact that literally all of them said no, even Naomi. It's weird that they all did.
But there was only like Blue Team and Black Team around to be offered the choice
Still got offered.
The teams would all obviously stick together
And I'd assume it's not a closed offer either.
Who's in Black Team, again?
I still find it amusing that the UNSC Air Force primarily supported the early IV program.
Props to the UNSC Air Force for knowing a good thing when it sees it.
They nuked a planet.
NOVA Bombed Glyke
Oh.
They lived, but ship damaged
And now they work with the Swords of Sanghelios in penance instead of being executed, and they frankly dodged a bullet for that.
Went into Cryo
Wasn’t Glyke basically the covvie equivalent of Harvest?
Kinda.
Massive breadbasket colony?
Yep.
Glyke had several billion Elites on it
Dang.
Also kill Wattinree
That's a lot of Split-lips.
Grey Team have the highest K/D
I still maintain that Arbiter would've totally been within his rights to tell the UNSC that the only way peace could be achieved would be the execution of Gray team, and the UNSC would've politically had to acquiesce.
Whitcomb’s Investment, coining that name for the event right now
Someone put it up on Halopedia
Interesting.
Did he know?
What?
HAHAHA
ONI would never
NEVER let that happen
Doesn't matter if they'd "never".
they would, but it would be fake
Yes,yes,yes
Can't do much about "Never" when a Covenant energy sword is through someone's chest.
LOL.
ONI literally started the Elite Civil War. They wouldn't care what the Arbiter wanted about a Spartan 2 team.
Not really
And ONI's assets gave the Arbiter a golden opportunity to reunite under a banner and curb stomp them.
Arby knows where he is, he was basically given the assignment of making sure the Shadow of Intent stays out of enemy hands
Don’t ask me why the ship is so important
They're lucky he's more dedicated to peace than they are.
Arby would learn about the UEG’s highest journalistic honor
Courtesy of one Locke
UNSC
Crying about their worlds getting glassed because Spartan Teams just gave them a golden reason to buddy back up?
Can't wait for ONI to poison Sangheilos's crops
Even if you killed Arby that'd still make for a Martyrdom moment.
Let's not forget Thel has just as much blood on his hands glassing numerous colonies
Like, half the reason ONI was even trying that is because they knew a fractitious Covenant was the best way to keep humanity alive.
Yeah, about that…
Only the Swords of Sanghelios.
And various smaller orgs aligned or unaligned with them, but largely neutral or friendly.
Ohh. OK.
plus or minus some other miscellaneous splinter factions loosely allied with the Swords
Mm, okie.
It's a mistake to think of Halo species as unified factions.
Like people, they can have wildly different idealogies.
Huragok
They're engineered. They don't count and also have slightly different personalities.
The Flood
^
Ah.
Yanme’e
Is a hivemind.
It is a species
A literal hivemind.
You are all splitting hairs and you know it.
XD, yup.

Humans who don't live on Venezia or Gao
I still find the fact that there’s only two major human factions in Halo a bit silly
I'm sure Kodiak and Buck would get along famously with how they feel about Sangheili relations.
Nothing at all like oil and water.
What? The Innies and the UNSC?
Three, technically.
Name the third
Are the insurrectionist’s like a non-factor now?
Innies, UEG, and Gao's little empire.
I cry
There is the UNSC, then a bunch of Innie factions
Ah.
Is Gao the one from Envoy?
The ones who made a production level plasma cannon.
Gao, Venezia, and the New Colonial Alliance
And big delta winged troop transport aircraft.
Gao Battlejumpers
3 then, I consider Venezia part of the Insurrectionists, and I’m not familiar with Gao really
I remember the brief mention in 5 but can’t remember what media they are from
Gao... claims to be part of the UEG, but also acts against the UNSC
Which is even more minor, really, since it’s not like they are all one big unified crime syndicate or cartel
That's kinda the issue with Innies. They're "Whatever faction has humans and a need to get punched in the face by the UNSC".
Halo is about killing aliens, not Humans
That’s true actually
And this entire discussion started because I want Dinh to be in a gay relationship with my absolutely perfect Halo Infinite Build-A-Spartan.
Yeah.
:>
cute
I'm so based.
Big friend.
That is a big frog, XD.
Nah more like MastetChief1663 pulling us all from Stellaris talk
Cane Toads. Though, Toads are frogs.
Very cool.
LMAO, yeah.
I just said it :C
invasive species
It is a friend

Moderator decisions apparently happened there and I shan't discuss how amusing I find them.
I still need to get better at Stellaris
I'm just saying
Robots don't need to worry about instability
And plus, you get to be a cool robot
one of those games where you are still much closer to being a beginner than someone of novice or intermediate level even with 100 hours
i mean
incorrect, in stellaris
I've never really had an issue with robot stability.
Maybe I'm just good at the game.
Just be a normal, xenophobic empire of Humans
Imperium of Man
Only in some places. That one's clearly a pet.
Expand super wide
See those green guys at the very bottom left?
I am going to kill them and take that entire area from the far east (I am the yellow bit) over to the galactic core
It will be mine
Oh I see the UNSC in there now
TIL Cane Toads that were introduced to Louisiana mostly died
What's amusing is, multiple releases to Florida failed.
Oh yeah someone made a UNSC empire which got chosen as an AI empire
But what made the Cane Toad invasive to Florida was an accidental release in Miami in 1957.
... Apparently one of the rewards on Gamepass right now is a Walmart+ membership?
Hmn.
Fair enough, bot.
Anyways, apparently my housemate thought "Yeah you can have the Chicken" meant he could have my plant-based chicken.
Which... Is bad, because that's not what I meant and it's about $4 more expensive than a bag half the size.
And he nearly ate two whole bags.
By himself, in one sitting.
Which is about $24 of food.
That... I was rationing, because I'm on a diet.
Is this the same housemate as before
Yes, but he actually legitimately thought it was normal chicken.
Which is weird, you can totally taste the difference.
Has he never tasted normal chicken or is he just into soy?
And it literally says it isn't chicken.
I’ve never had… what, veggie chicken?
what does this mean?
I mean, it's not wrong to say it's got soy into it. Might be reading to much into it.
I usually don't eat soy products, if that was the intended insinuation. I usually eat fish and salad.
Better diet for running.
Plant based chicken is usually soy and wheat flour/gluten and a bunch of spices to make up for the god awful creation that is...plant based anything.
You can taste the difference easily.
It's not as bad as it used to be.
I like plant based “meat” a lot actually
If there’s an impossible burger on a menu, I’ll always take it over a normal burger
It's not like the old Tofu craze sort of garbage, they actually got a lot better at flavoring it.
Eh.
Tofu is garbage but there are a lot of good plant based meats
I've tasted them side by side. It's definitely noticeable. Not bad, but it is noticeable.
All this plant-based stuff isn't bad but it IS weird.
He might've just thought it was a weird blend or something.
I cooked plant based beef and never will I cook that again in my house. The smell was god awful and it tasted like crap
I buy a lot of weird things because I like to have a varied diet.
Just one usually focused around fish and vegetables.
To each their own I suppose, was it Impossible branded or some other thing?
I think so
It was when Covid first hit and everyone bought out the meat
And toilet paper

I'll stick to eating meat. Plant based products aren't going to increase my lifespan so...I'll enjoy my farm animals.
XD.
My own mother was one of the people who did that
Same.
Not saying I don't eat meat. Even not-fish meat.
Actually, plant based meat is far healthier for your heart and other parts of your cardiovascular system!
But more expensive, unfortunately
^ That's pretty much why. Heart disease runs in my family and I'd rather hedge my bets by running 10 miles every other day and eating well.
As the industry grows I hope that falls untrue because plant based meat is a lot more sustainable than regular meat
By about 40% iirc
I would have to double check though
It used a helluva lot less water, that’s for sure
And land
I'm more mad about the money than anything tbh. That stuff's expensive, even if I rarely actually eat it outside of the odd "Friday and want to have something dipped in Honey Mustard".
And is infinitely more ethical
I would go vegan if I didn’t like bacon so much honestly… and if the stuff wasn’t to expensive
Like, the same amount of regular chicken is double the calories, but also half the cost, for the same amount.
Everyone can have their opinions and studies on this. I've read up on the debates and honestly, like every new study from eggs do this but eggs do that sort of thing, what works for you can kill the person next to you.
Bodies are all different. But the thing is, it's not that different.
It’s not really an opinion though, the bits in normal packaged meat are objectively far less healthy than plant based meat
Unless you have a lethal allergy to something like nuts of shellfish.
It'll be a cold day in hell before I drink Soylent though.
I really don't see the appeal of drinkable meals.
I’m trying to think of a good analogy for this but it’s 1 AM and I’m running on fumes
Van Vliet and colleagues compared 190 molecules in plant-based meat alternatives with grass-fed ground beef and found that 90 per cent of them were different. Plant-based meat alternatives lacked certain amino acids and derivatives, like creatine, taurine and anserine, “which can all have an impact on our health and potentially brain function as well as muscle function,” he says.
They also tend to have more sodium...which is bad.
I’m not denying that traditional meat isn’t necessary for health, it absolutely is, but there are more sustainable ways to get it than with packaged burgers
But hey, eat what you want I don't care in the slightest. I don't judge people for whatever they want to do. If it works, great.
That quote also omits the fact that there are a lot of nutrients in plant based meat that you can’t get from traditional meat
Which you get from the other parts of your traditional meal.
you can get those from vegetables
Yeah
"Diets that substituted animal products with the plant-based alternative were below the daily recommendations for vitamin B12, calcium, potassium, zinc and magnesium, and higher in sodium, sugar and saturated fat."
I wonder how that study compared the opposite way
Should probably link it instead of quoting from it.
"Unintended Consequences: Nutritional Impact and Potential Pitfalls of Switching from Animal- to Plant-Based Foods"
Emphasis on link it.
That way everyone is unambiguously on the same page.
“Frequent red and processed meat intake is linked to greater risks of cardiovascular disease and cancer”
This is my main concern about red meat, specifically
And many people’s concerns
You have to change the type of meat you eat...red meat isn't all meat.
Look at fitness guys, how they down chicken.
Turkey is a good meat too
There’s also the ethical and sustainability concerns, specifically the fact that plant based meat uses around 40-60% less water and land than farming traditional meat
which also accounts for a lot less energy by proxy of using less of both
This study isn't really telling me much I haven't seen before.
Which... Isn't to say it's wrong, but some of the parts explicitly point out that regular meat isn't actually necessary for a properly planned vegetarian diet.
Farming is the least concerning thing. Manufacturing of wasteful garbage and pollution from China/India are more worrisome.
makes sense since fake plant based meat is essentially proccessed junk fod
Beans account for a lot of what meat can give you
You can be concerned about both.
you'd be better off just going actual vegan...
Source?
the source of.... reality?
Yes.
it's a processed patty of food with salt added and other chemicals
So is red meat
no?
Everything is processed before it gets to your local grocery store
?
Doesn’t mean it’s junk
That's literally the reason I stopped eating at most Fast Food.
If you buy cheap meat maybe...but decent grade meat isn't full of processed garbage.
you don't think that those pretend burger patties full of preservatives and salt is processed?
huh?????????
what do you consider processed
Unless you killed, skinned, and prepped it yourself, it's processed.
lol
And technically, that's still processing it.
That is stretching the word to a literal sense. Generally grass fed meat isn't pumped up with additives and other nonsense.
i'm not sure what value your definition of processed has for anything
Has been treated, manufactured, or otherwise prepared in a factory or some sort of other mass production facility (according to FDA guidelines, if you are in the US) for general sale
No, processing is a very broad category that's pretty much everything short of literally picking a berry off a branch and eating it on the spot.
whats the point of that definition
then i asked what the point is
You're changing the argument. That isn't his point, clearly....
you have no different between KFC and a piece of free range chicken breast
which is like... lol?
You’re the one who made that claim originally
obviously in my head i differential between minimally processed food and food that is mostly its natural state
Both are processed, but both are different. I don't see how Titan's contradicting it, but just clarified that it's all processed, so you need to be more specific with your claims.
you just said "well everything is processed imo" so i guess just live off oreos
I said it wasn't processed in terms of how vegan garbage is. Not that it isn't ya know, chopped at a facility. FFS.
it's a processed patty of food with salt added and other chemicals
So is everything else you have ever bought at the grocery store, minus the salt
That's literally processed, the product.
what is the argument here
Vegan food is objectively healthier for you
that no food isn't better than another because it's all "processed"
i just don't understand the argument
That literally everything cooked and sold is a processed product, so it's effectively a meaningless criticism buzzword.
vegan food is "processed"
so how could it be healthy
we just decided all food is processed so it's all the same
If I go to the store right now, grab a cucumber, and take a bite out of it, is it unhealthy?
Unwashed, maybe.
it was processed at the cucumber factory so
Lord knows the chemicals sprayed on at the farm too
Yeah, where it was treated to make sure there’s no E. Coli or any other dangerous bacteria on it
No, that's what you're getting out of it, because... Y'know, I'm not sure if you're getting the point that Titan's saying, and I'm trying to imply.
i said that those fake plant patties aren't that healthy since it's essentially junk food
then he said that nothing is unprocessed
Which is true.
which, leads us to one conclusion
Which is objectively wrong
that everything is unhealthy and processed
there is no other reason to make his argument
It has sodium packed in like hungry man tv dinners...so
Alright, no, too tired for this
the logical conclusion from "everything is processed and therefore this processed junk isn't bad" is that we should all just not bother
Calling something processed is effectively a meaningless distinction buzzword because all food is processed. If the fake patty has elements that make it unhealthy, because it's a shoddily made plant product, then yes, it's unhealthy. If it's one that is not a shoddy product, then it's healthy.
and eat kfc and burger king
otherwise his argument did nothing to make me think processed fake plant food is healthy
... Because sometimes it isn't, sometimes it is.
Eh. Plant-based "meat" is called impossible for a reason.
End of the day, I want my $16 back.
At least he didn't eat my shrimp or salmon I guess, and I needed to get new food tomorrow anyways because I'm out of lettuce.
actually there's this new thing called solar foods..
because you could ask the question if being vegan is actually better for the environment (some bro called George did a Ted talk about it)
My favorite moment in CE,
The Chad captain Keyes vs loser marine
Marine: oh no they locked the grav lift were screwed man! Were screwed
Alpha male keyes: stow the bellyaching soldier your a leatherneck, cortona are there any ships docked that we can hijack to escape
