Welcome @grand summit! Any feedback from the community will show up here.
Please note that this thread discussion is not shared with SMG.
It is solely for the RISK Community to discuss ideas & provide constructive feedback!
Example for what such a pathing map looks like:
I like the overlay of pathing idea. I dislike the idea of showing the percentage of troops the zombies have and how many troops they will add
That last part wasn't part of the main idea.
I was referring to providing general information about the way the undead add troops. This knowledge should be no secret.
You'd still have to calculate it yourself how much they actually will add.
Showing the % of troops the Zombies have in non fog games makes sense to me though.
The information is visible anyways.
Zombies in the fog is 100 times better anyways.
Wouldn't it be possible to just make it random?
^^^^^^^
This guy is asking a real question
This was going to be my next suggestion. Split Zombies into two modes: One with random pathing; one with predictable pathing
I mean wouldn't that be the easiest solution?
I do not think any change is needed. The point of zombies is to predict well. Having a pathing map can help, but not as much as you’d think. “Secret knowledge” my ass too - just join the zombie server and you’re up to date on everything the rest of the community knows
🤦♂️
Predicting the zombies adds another skill element, that would be lost if it were randomized.
I like it when games have a few little elements that reward going online and doing your research to increase your knowledge. (Personal preference, there’s no objective basis to this)
Would be good if pathing was more readily available outside Discord on places like Risk Wiki, Friendsofrisk, youtube etc. and SMG published the zombie code like they did for balanced blitz code. So those who want to go out and learn, can find the resources.
I agree 100%. I don’t have a problem if randomized zombie pathing was added as an additional setting modifier. Could be fun for some games
This is my position, yes. I think that I ppl want to know, they’ll go fine out. It’s not like the information is hidden or secret. Anyone who plays this game enough knows about zombie pathing and knows about where to find it. But SMG releasing the code would be greatly beneficial, I agree Sterling.
Already gave it the upvote ✅
I shouldn't have to join a discord to get that knowledge. It should be accessible to everyone who plays risk even those not in discord. Yeah it's not a literal secret but it's not exactly public either
I always like it where all information about mechanics themselves are very public and in the game but specific weird tech isnt. I would classify how the zombies move to be pretty important to know compared to like how to execute a weird combo in smash bros
What if the game had a link to the Risk Wiki, and the wiki had zombie pathing and other useful info?
Often the wikis of games have more fleshed out info on things players have discovered, that the devs don’t have time to write up.
And wikis are publicly googleable, without joining a discord server.
I mean I would even say that joining a discord server is just as easy as looking up the wiki. However, the Zombie Server isn't the most organized, so I won't die on that hill.
Discord servers are private and walled behind an account, and a join. Anyone could google a public website on any browser, without a wiki account, and get the info.
It’s subtle but there is a slight distinction.
