Special Settings and Victory Conditions should be split from Game Type to allow for additional settings that have been added by tournament organizers or suggested here.

Victory Conditions

  • World Domination
  • 70%
  • Speed Blitz
  • NEW: First to Kill
  • NEW: Baby the Zombies (kill them and you lose)

Special Settings

  • Zombies
  • Capitals (also a win condition)
  • NEW: No Bonuses!

If that is overkill then having additional advanced victory conditions and advanced settings such as no extra troops for continents would do it

My idea was along having victory conditions & modifiers (so now you only have ranked FFA / 1v1 as "game modes")
70% should instead be "hold x% of map (any value, with a minimum limit to account for max territories taken in one turn)", Speed Blitz should instead be "round limit", the other ones you mentioned (world dom would just be permanently on), first to kill maybe named "draw first blood"? - baby the zombies maybe more of a "zombie allegiance" type thing, must kill everyone without killing zombies (this could be like an among us style mode ig? E.g no-one knows who it is, it is permanent fog, and everyone else's objective is to survive) - just to add, capitals would then also have a "take X capitals" (so doesn't need to be all, and you can have them auto placed randomly or manually set, with an optional "hold for X turns" which can be 0 (what it is now)

Zombies would be optional modifier (and optional number of them...) - you have difficulties for it (maybe more transparency on what that means for each too)

I'm not sure how it would turn out, but play-testing Zombie Capitals might be a lot of fun

I'm just wondering how crazy it could be:

  • rolling fog
  • unstable blizzards
  • unstable portals
  • a zombie ai
  • 12 randomly placed capitals
  • a wall generated randomly

With victory conditions as:

  • capture 4 capitals
  • hold for 1 turn devil
  • capture 80% of the map
  • defeat the zombies for the 10th time
  • 30 round limit

That would be crazy, indeed. Unstable blizzards? That would be... interesting. You keep your troops after the blizzard clears, perhaps?

I think with some of these they'd need to be on an "advanced" menu to prevent information overload for new players.

A solution to that would be to have unlock progression for it

Win 10 games with stable blizzards: unlock unstable blizzards for hosting (premium gated still)
Win 10 games with stable fog: unlock rolling fog for hosting (premium gated still)

Having it as an unlockable means people actually learn how it works first plenty before trying something new

A customizable turn limit would help prevent 7 hour caps games too. I’d pick something like “max 75 turns”
