this is most definitely caused by either your windows version or your drivers

you might be missing some runtimes or youre running at dx12

i would suggest you open a9's properties in steam and add -directx to your launch options

this will switch it between 11 and 12

if that still doesn't work, you can also try -gl instead, which will switch it to opengl but it might perform poorly

id suggest you try verifying the game files here, might be possible that a file is corrupt

and if this was related to your sound card, it'd be odd if it only happens to the devel

you could also try changing your game renderer to directx 11 (-drectx) or opengl (-gl) by typing them in the game's launch options as theres also a chance your renderer could be causing audio issues

directx does control audio so it could also be the issue

this should wipe your entire config which i believe doesnt get deleted when you uninstall the game
