Mhm yea your right
Its time to rip it apart and do some much needed maintenance
- Need to fix the y rails beeing not equal height and pararell
- Regrease rails
- Add ptfe spacers to z motors
- Add holes in the ebay into the chamber for cpap and cpap flap
- Add ethernet port to the ebay
- Add 10mm cork sheets on the inside
- Enlargen structural panel holes
If only assembly is as quick as disassembly lol
I also need to enlargen a bunch of holes to making passing jst xh connectors trough easier
Grommets not only make the hole larger to clear connectors, they also isolate the wires from abrasion.
yea i would if i could but i havent found rubber grommets that work on 6mm panels yet
You have machines that can print them. LOL
Or just print grommets from tpu....
When are you getting rid of nasty takeoff?
I guess you ordered that cpap tube
I hope it works
Because I would try cpap again
He's got el fuego iirc, now would be a good time to install it
He was having cpap issues
Cpap is loud
So he ordered sonny cpap tube
Hopefully that will make it quieter
the plan is with this rebuild
the new tube should get here next week
and im just gonna trust sonny that its actually smooth inside
yep nows the time!
the smart person i am i dissamsbled before printing pc pbt gf parts that i need for reassmble
but asa parts should last long enough until Tridentbert can print its own replacment parts lol
I bet it will still make noise but not nearly as bad
likely but hopefully nowhere near as painfull lol
and i have the ws9290 in my steel ebay with Basotect sound dampening inside. Also gonna try to design a mount using shock absorbers
So with a bit of luck it should be almost not noticable
Took the ebay off and there is one not so nice giant crack in the bottom wodden panel
But it should be fine, its only 1/3 of the way across the panel and not all the way through to the bottom
likely just a crack from it beeing bone dry and cracking because of that
can't see any el fuego here /s
SoomTN
ive got the toolhead for like 5 months now
whats another 2 weeks
dude i envy you so fking hard
ey i havent installed it just yet lol
me installing it relies on the cpap tube not sucking
but you could tease us with a little bit of IS results
h3h3
i would but the printer is currently in .. ugh .. pieces
lol me still not posting froron IS results is funny
have you even printed with your machine?
Could not have broken in a worse spot ngl
I told you like seven times now lol
All I havenβt done is a proper multi toolhead print cos I havenβt setup carto
could just use the build in tap?
its been working really well on #1434612830614585476
Ordered a new set of allen keys, this time without the stupid ball that made it break in the first place -> https://www.wera.de/en/tools/950-9-hex-plus-2-l-key-set-metric-chrome-plated
How much junk do you want in your rails?
Oh man. Metal rails?
I bet they are loud
I have some and they are not great
Have you thought about trying thk high temps?
yea they aint quiet
yes .. but π΅
thouse are cna full metal rails
I would message brazuka
and they arent bad but not good either
he can do thk now
ohh
yeah'
il keep them for now
THK is still more than hiwin and airtac
cause they are holding up kinda well
but they are actually somewhat affordable for the average high temp user
yea no doubt
maybe some day for xy but not today π
Yeah it seems like what you have right now is working really well
yea i mean the seal could be better, there is a lot of junk in there
but i doubt it would be better with thks
cat hair just gets everywhere
The thks aren't actually all metal
they are high temp polymer
with high temp silicone seals
good to 125 according to them
It might take a while for brazuka to find them
thk has a massive catalog and everything is named very strangely
kk send him a message
They have like 4 different types of high temp rails
maybe as a birthday present for myself in june lol
so make sure you tell him not the all metal ones
worth a shot just to see how much they cost
ye
Brazuka is the best
I waste so much of his time and he still gets my weird requests
oh yea he is awesome!
wera balled hex keysy are fine though
half disassembled cos of carto
and new gantry belts / replacements etc
i even need to replace the slm adapter for the monolith belts, bec it collides with carto
Rebuilding the Gantry right now and thats about as good as im gonna get it i think
Damn yeah I think thats good
Yea there is 50 micron bow in both extrusions/rails
Def good enough
Yea and its the exact same in both extrusions/rails
Will have a negative effect on the bed mesh but thats alright
I do wonder if that bow was always there or introduced in the heating cycles
Good question
With a bit of luck the new cpap tube should show up today or tomorrow
New tube has been collected and its realllyyy good
Its even better when the fan is in the ebay
Yea sucks im gonna ordered two replacements printed from steel
What was the tap made from?
And did you use tapping compound
the finest chinesium alloy of amazon π
but i just winged it lol its fine ... gonna order two more and try again
this time doing it properly π
Try and order carbide, even though it's gotten extremely expensive
I used a reamer on a drill press and STILL messed up youβre Gucci
Oh rip ti really does suck
I canβt remember the last time I have seen someone tap titanium. Normally people thread mill it
Im sure its possible with the right tools or technique but i have neither so steel it is
Yeah it is possible but not really ideal for stuff like blind holes. I am surprised your tap broke in this hole
Its a through hole and it did cut a thread 50% down the hole
wen toolhead
Ordered one of the last few remaining available trident kits .... from Australia
Curious how much directed airflow over the nozzle matters vs general cool the entire area
What if u just have a toolhead thatβs a fan over the hot end
Due to how air works it would wrap around the hotend right
Like imagine a fan just blows air down the entire hotend
It should theory wrap around the hotend and make its way to the nozzle to cool it
Like itβd require good insulation around the hotend but Iβm thinking all the complex ductwork and stuff isnβt necessary with a good cpap design
lol ur talk about toolhead broken slm part got me going about a interesting idea for a toolhead
yea idk
seams like a solution for a issue that isnt
passive hotend cooling works well enough (for materials that arent pla π )
no no i'm just trying to compact things down as much as possible and remove the ductwork that typically cools the nozzle
lol that shipping is not bad to EU lol?
Yea 50β¬ is pretty reasonable lol
I am really curious if it would be the same once heated to your maximum chamber temperature
it doesnt really matter if it changes just that it changes the same ammount on both both rails
but no doubt it will change
Ordered some new xy rails since im done with all metal rails π
I got your rails nanannana lol their nice lol
ive already got them installed in my v2, yea they are pretty damn good!
Also waiting on duck rails! At this point Iβll have an extra v2
Elfuego parts have also shown up!
Jlc3dp's quality definatly isnt as nice as in3dtec but shipping was dirt cheap
what's this for?
Elfuego extruder mounting plate
Gonna install a new slm extruder as well π₯
lol
i dont want that cancer stuff in my home
fdm is enough
Been eyeing that slm lgx if I ever decide to go big boi π
just accept months of wait time lol
Stuff has finally shown up π₯
nice dude
Yea im excited to have the machine working again
Idk if i want to go 2wd or awd
2wd is easier but slower and awd would be faster with very minimal build volume loss but would require belt sync
why not 2wd but with some really strong nema 17 motors
AWD has Around double the quality accel
Its cuz its got half the effective belt length so theres less belt actually stretching
i see i see
Yeaaa thats why i think im going awd
Even if beltsync is a pain and a half
atleast the Auto sync gets ya close-ish
its usefull to do both manual and auto though
Manual sync is kinda impossible if the belt tension is high enough π
fair enough
No idea what Iβm doing
hahaha .. i made a little jig to mount the dial indicator to the extrusion for checking the rail
much simpler then using it with its arm π
is that really needed
probably not but it defiantly can not hurt!
would you look at that .. its still off by 0.02mm, but i think it should do lol
now thats close lol
Ordered new motors. I could not for the live of me get the pullies of the exiting motors and instead of damaging the motors il just use new once π

Guess its now time to actually build the gantry - nothing left to procrastinate lol
Ive got a solution Start Another voron build
not gonna happen lol
3 printer is more then enough
definitely (me who has 7 and trying to get rid of some to get better ones)
i bearly use the one i have lol
after struggling with squaring my new frame all weekend I don't think I'm ready to indicate the frame. no, I refuse for my mental health
how did you square the frame? by hand?
I squared/build my frame using extrusion join plates to alling the extrusions while i tightened the blind joints and then remove them after. I can not recommend that method enough!
Prob shouldβve done something like this. I clamped onto a granite surface plate but when I final torque I still introduce a twist into the frame π
ah the default way of building the frame .. yea ive never had great result that way π
Where are the join plates sourced from? I think im going to use this method going forward π
where ever else you buy all your stuff. misumi, amazon, aliexpress among many others
i got mine of amazon for a couple of β¬. The cheaps once are more then good enough
okay, thanks π
yeah you def convinced me to revisit my frame when I get back from vacay.
nice! A perfect frame is the cornerstone of a well working printer. π
Started building the gantry
I'l hopefully be done by next year, ive got a time agnostic build schedule afterall!
1 out of 4 are done
All done, plan for tomorrow is to mount them on the frame
monolith cnc is so clean
Indeed!
And its so damn easy to install and get right!
π― π― π― π―
god dammit..
i hear you are opening a tap school π
damn ldo round corners and misumi horizontals faces dont exactly line up nicely so I can't externally plate them like you, will have to work top and corners I think
oh rip
also i ordered some cable sleeving. silver + muted orange should look great
now do the other hole
already done. Toolhead is also already mounted!
I tease hahahaha very beautiful shot! wish I had that much sunlight coming in to work on mine
oh thats on my balcony. my workspace isnt outside π
