and then a lot of paid games nowadays have ingame paid content too bc getting your money the first time wasnt enough 🥴
I don't know if I necessarily agree with this. You just have to dig deeper to find the good mobile stuff. And most of the good mobile stuff is just good ports of good PC indie games
Slay the Spire, Minecraft, Forager, especially Baba is You
And once Dicey Dungeons fully releases that's a banger port as well from the Beta I've played
I kinda feel like ports to mobile kinda go against the thought though
Like, generally they were good beforehand, and just weren't substantially marred by the move
Definitely a good point. I'm coming up with blanks for legitimately good mobile first games that are pay once
Not to say that good, non-port, single-purchase mobile games don't exist
Mini Metro, The Room series, I think Fantasian?
Yeah Fantasian has no microtransactions and I've heard great things about it, especially the aesthetic
Shame it's locked onto specifically the Apple system
Bean Dreams was a swell game while it existed, and GrindStone was solid on the Apple Arcade side
Yeah, I guess you're not really getting massive budgets for mobile games, and the indie devs that want to make complex games are likely not going to lock themselves to mobile
That Humble Bundle publishing initiative seems to push its devs to make mobile versions of their games when possible. That's probably the closest we'll get to high quality indie games hitting mobile
man, i remember the days of angry birds
that really tok the world by storm for a while
you shouldnt have to, is the point. you didnt have t, in the earlier days of mobile gaming, before this freemium nonsense truly took over.
also the fact that most of what you named is a port of a pc game doesnt actually favour your argument bc like. those things already had an audience before going to mobile
if the "good mobile stuff" is simply ports of pc properties with already established fanbases then what is left in the mobile market besides that?
i wish, i so desperately wish the mobile game landscape was more than the freemium hellscape its become but its so incredibly hard to care enough about it to even dig through it and find worthwhile gems because everyone wants to burn you
one of my fav mobile games from early on was contre jour, for what its worth
Mini metro released on pc first btw
So it is also a port
There are actually a lot of good mobile-first games
Monument Valley, Plague Inc, the various Rayark games, Vainglory
Florence was also mobile-first
Arcaea and Phigros
I would also add Lanota, but they began the practice of limited songs (as in, if you don't unlock them, they're gone for good)
And that made me drop them
Yeah, I guess the Catch-22 is that most any game that's genuinely good enough to stand on its own isn't going to limit its success by tying down to mobile
Touch Screen gaming doesn't seem to be nearly as much of a focus as it was in the 2010s, so any game trying to make it in the mobile market is most likely fighting against the more unique features of smartphones rather than benefitting from them like in the Fruit Ninja Cut The Rope Angry Birds days
Who called them Gacha Games and not Roll Paying Games?
I don't wanna be the guy that is very fun on parties so I won't explain
Imagine looking up mobile games and expecting those games to not be gachas or "free" games
a lot of artists i follow making genshin art made me start playing it 😬
I play genshin for the music and exploration, cause damn the environments are great and the OSTs are too good.
ah, roll paying game connoisseur

all my friends are trying to get me to play genshin but I don't want to be pulled into a situation where I'm gonna be spending money just for characters to play as
or risk being pulled into it
i had my fill of these asian free games before
its fun until youre far in and the progression almost grinds to a halt unless you pay
and you don't wanna stop playing of course. so justify to yourself just a little spending wouldnt hurt
anyone who invites their friends to play this should think of what they're enabling
I haven‘t put any money into genshin, mainly because I feel it‘s just expensive for what you‘ll get? Like, Welking is 5€ but you‘ll have to log in every day for a month and you get not even 20 wishes; while buying 10 wishes directly costs 30€?
Man Monster Hunter GU is such a fun game if you can get a good lobby up
some of the hunts in the game are just so great
it really is. like man i love the game and wish i could bring myself to play it again because sometimes it is just perfect
I got Redhelm ex done in a random lobby
and it was the most hype hunt I've had in monster hunter in a LONG time
yeah that too. these games push you to pay and then the odds to get smth good are really low
and like ....a single roll costing like 3 euros? it's nutty
Yeah - getting a 4* character or constellation for 30€ (??????) seems really strange
Good thing I only need Yanfei C4 and the only char I‘m waiting for is Eula rerun so not much incentive to spend
to be honest i haven't done an ex with randoms that didn't involve me panicking constantly, but some of my high-level hellblade hunts have been incredible. my one successful g4 was insane
Redhelm got a nasty windup that got two faints at the start lmao so it was stressful but that's the fun
to be fair redhelm can just oneshot when it wants
but yeah that's what made the g4 so good, too. that's a one-faint fail so you need a full comptent team to stand a chance, but when you get that chance it's great fun
a lot of games in the earlier days of mobile gaming genuinely were not like that, we already explained this lmao
i realised why i was so bad at MGR parrying
i actually had to use the light attack button then quickly point the stick to the direction of the attack
i did the opposite
Wait so... how did you miss the info?
Not as bad as me I guess, I didn't know you could dodge in MGR
wait...Dodging?
Is that even a thing besides doing an attack that automatically targets an enemy
It's the defensive offensive skill
I didn't know/use it
Throughout the whole game and DLC

ahhhh
To be fair, you have to buy the ability to dodge
Y'all remember Temple Run? My sister and I were addicted to that. My sister more so lol
Some other good mobile games that had wide access even without paying are Plague Inc (tho it can be slow) and most of Rayark's earlier games like Cytus. In fact, it was Cytus that really got me into rhythm games.
we gathered around the only guy who had an iphone during school breaks, watching him play doodle jump
this and aerial parry make the first legit chapter a pain sometimes
YES OMG TEMPLE RUN
i have so many fond memories of that game
The tutorial section on Revengeance is such a headache
minion rush enjoyer
Minion rush is good... game
"fond" well thats debatable but yeah so much nostalgia
fond for me 🙃
Pros of nostalgia: happy memories
Cons of nostalgia: oh no I'm old
metal gear rising fans when they see a dog in real life
nah only the old republic and club penguin
Started playing Dorfromantik last night
It's effectively a zen 4X match the tile game
Very simple but a great game to play when your mind is overly busy
YES
i loved animal jam
i would do warriors rps on there..
Ok, Citizen Sleeper is legit good, it makes me relaxed and anxious at the same time lmao
mind if i slice in
I still hate konami for regionlocking the game
konami ruined metal gear
idek know how mgr came back into popularity besides the memes
but im glad
The answer is that it was, like a lot of Kojima related media, surprisingly prescient
And also lacking entirely in subtlety in a way that's refreshing

Was interested at the game after I saw the trailer. How was the gameplay? Is there any combat?

omg
I love vanripper's artstyle
(As you can tell from my pfp)
Yes it's literally Beel as Venom Snake, fan coloured from a sketch he made on a stream
Imagine Hades Characters wiggle in music
omg yes the chibi sprites dancing to the helltaker soundtrack
Chinese fan-made Eldentaker
(interactive video)
idk the names to the elden ring chars but love to see it
Nope, as much As Disco Elysium. You just roll dice and use the dice to do actions and pray for luck
oh that's great! Been eyeing it for a while since the reveal, good to hear it turned out nice.
You basically start with a set number of already rolled dice, a Hunger bar and a Stabiliser bad (If that goes to 0 you die), you use the dice to do actions, with those actions more things may be unlocked witha circular bar representing something that can be opened if you roll the dice there x time.
Time goes in cycles every time you sleep, and the circles with a 🔄 sign, fill instead by passing cycles instead instead of your actions.
if the bar of the circle (Cyclic or not) is yellow something neutral or positive will happen, if red, somthing negative, giving you a sense of urgency to try to do something related to that countdown before you run out of cycles
How was the writing? Good?
Still to soon to tell, as I only did 10 cycles so far but it's nice, kinda reminds to DE but less "Teathrical" so to speak, kinda like a mix between Disco Elysium and the Shadowrun Games.
Disco Elysium's prose is something else. Citizen Sleeper's dialogues are more conventional, and fits the setting of cyberpunk. The narrative does cyberpunk and it's philosophical themes well and engaging
Prey is on my short list
Right now I'm cracking in on Zone of the Enders 2 and Dragon's Dogma
im scared of playing Prey
I hated those damn mimics
My favorite youtuber lol
prey is an amazing game, also not as scary once you get into it - i remember being scared of playing it because of the mimic jumpscares and such but its not that bad, and it being such a good and immersive game really helps
even if you get it for free you should try it out :]
expected a do you guys not have phone moment
was pleasantly surprised
I mean…. Eve online’s economy is pretty spreadsheet intensive
dark souls is a fun and fair game, why does this boss get a free pass to completely ignore my shield and oneshot me with a normal attack if he feels like it
Git gud lmao
Which boss?
Some heavy strikes bust through blocks, you can do it too if your hammer is wide enough
ohh, I’ve been wanting to play the first game
Im watching a video about Firefall and omg
I wish real time combat MMOs were more common
I only know of Destiny 2, Foxhole and that's really about all
I guess Escape from Tarkov counts
who the hell thought wiggling a stick in MGR was a good idea to break free
where else would you bind it?
artorias, specifically that one jump slash that has an 80% chance to be blocked fine and a 20% chance to instantly destroy all stamina and health
but i have since beaten him
I‘d go for Bioshock, Deponia, Dreamfall Chapters and Kona first
Don’t sleep on Sunless Sea 🌊
ty for the recommendations :] i actually started playing the longest journey, with the goal of playing dreamfall chapters at the end. im excited for it
there is also the absurd amount of games i am "currently playing" (started and didnt finish lol) that arent here
I only played Chapters, still need The Longest Journey... love the adventure vibe, it's really like a classic adventure game - and it feels like a journey too. Bioshock for obvious reasons, dunno if it needs any introduction - Kona is a really stylized detective thingy and the Deponia series is imho the peak of point'n'click adventures - Daedalic does incredible things with them
yeah... I mostly haven't touched my 'currently playing' games since october, though I actually got back into Outer Wilds now. And Ghostrunner isn't doing itself any favors with its terrible checkpoint system 😭
i see......
HAHAHA
maybe currently playing and unfinished is a better distinction. there are games there i havent touched since 2016
at that point, its a brand new game
Have you played 999 and Virtue's Last Reward Alma?
If no, Zero Time Dilemma won't make any sense
That too, it's a common opinion I hear
Good, I didn't have to apologize to the funyarinpa 😅
yeah, ZTD goes a bit downhill compared to the previous ones. that said, i really enjoyed some of the moments in it
Yeah, I started 999!
so the nonary games isn’t on there
not stalled i hope!
im playing it with a friend, so it depends on his schedule
i do really want to play more, ive been wanting to play it for years now

Idk why but I just like looking at game list and be like
Yeah... That's a good list. Not gonna play most of them, but that's a good list
Gradually I learned I like organizing games than playing them
There should be a game like that
Where the gameplay is you organizing and categorizing stuff
backpack hero
a button lmao
also I went to an arcade today
I played some Sega WRC and some Outrun 2
cause here it's either Alien 3 The gun or tons of racing games
the WRC game was awesome tho
shifting gears, handbraking etc. was awesome
i love arcades. we have barely any here but it's always a good time when I find one
Granted, the plot falls apart if you think 5 minutes about it
Like, I admit I like the game but the plot of Deliver Us The Moon makes absolutely no sense
Otoh it made me discover "The Rule of Two" in astronomy so I'm grateful of them for that
My trick is selecting 6 games of my backlog: 1-2 long and the rest short and playing them back to back
Right Now my 6 games are:
-Tales of Arise
-Citizen Sleeper
-Tales Of The Black Forest
-Rise Of The Third Power
-ANNO Mutationem
-Voice Of Cards 2
I do exceptions if a game I really wanted to play comes out, tho
cough Elden Ring cough
elden ring... i made a promise to myself to actually finish and not put aside that one, because i know if i will, its never getting picked back up ever again
and its my first souls game too
My first souls was Bloodborne...and that didn't last long
Eldritch things and blood everywhere? Too much for the first time
i was promised elden ring doesnt have to be a hard game, so i caved and got it
im having fun with it, mostly because i dont get angry when i die. cant imagine how awful it would be if i did
About a month ago I got Nioh for 10€, thinking it was a bit faster paced, it wouldn't be too tough...silly me, the first mission is proving to be a problem because of the ki mechanics
I think getting stuck on Margit is intentional to make you explore the rest of Limgrave
i may or may not have bought smt3 because it was on sale. can someone sum up dante from devil may cry because i don't actually know anything at all about him, but he's in the game
dante runs a...private eye business. people go to him to solve demon related problems. dante goes out and shoots and slices everything. in style.
margit was not that hard for me, i got stuck on tree sentinel after beating margit 😔
The one in SMT3 comes from DmC2, AKA the one that nobody wants to know about because that game... wasn't great
Applies to all of them, even the one from the reboot
so did you get him yet?
mr crucible got me real good
i see. also i have a feeling, just a hunch, that maybe he will attempt to shoot and slice me. with style
can't wait
yup, typical detective work!
super late but i feel like thats the general opinion of people who played them. 999 was fantastic, it had the appropriate sense of urgency and danger in its narrative, the puzzles could make you pause but you felt really good solving them, and for the most part the narrative across all endings wasnt too confusing. vlr.... well i bought it bc it was a sequel to 999 and i really enjoyed 999 and... i didnt enjoy vlr as much. the puzzles felt more like they were there just to be there and i didnt feel as accomplished if i figured them out, iirc i had to look up more of them bc they just werent clear to me, the narrative felt slower, less urgent. there was still a sense of danger but on a safer level. the overall story honestly lost me the more i learned.
and ztd, well. the less said about it, the better. i never even finished a single ending to it lmao i got bored and sidetracked to a different game and never came back to it
this is entirely my personal feeling but 999 hooked you in right from the very start of the game and immediately set the stakes high and the sequels never quite recaptured that feeling that drew me in in the first place
Agreed mostly with Tatz although I ended finishing the three games. I liked the new protagonists in ZTD but the plot. Eeeeeeh
AI The Somnium Files. Tho. That's some quality right there
Excited for the sequel
i remember VLR fondly because i was quite mind blown by the sci fi twists
and Luna endings. ohhh Luna endings
Somnium Files is really fun but for me the mindblown factor i got from Zero Escape was missing from it
Announce Trailer of OXENFREE II: Lost Signals coming to PlayStation.
Super sad that Afterparty flew under the radar (though it felt like it was kinda incomplete), super excited to get back into this
Finished Outer Wilds, just wow. Impressive how all those loose dots point to what you need to do, and if you try it, it just works, some super impressive polish. And the true otherworldly feel of dread and accomplishment when finally landing on ||the quantum moon|| or getting to see ||the eye of the universe||. All while being easy enough for even a big dum dum like me to not need any help. Definitely gonna give the DLC a try
I played for a bit, but my (lame laptop) computer couldn't handle it I guess, just kept freezing and I had to give up
i played it 3 times to get all the achievements, it was a nice game. didnt get me as much as oxenfree did but i enjoyed it and i loved all the different drinks, very creative
Anyone here a big elden ring fan? How the hell do I get better at it lol.. First souls game so I’m kinda struggling with the combat
Tbqh, I liked it much less than Oxenfree,
Bought it on ps5 and haven’t really touched it since launch, got annoyed
Oxenfree had a plot and mystery much more engaging
While Afterparty felt like it was kinda meandery so to speak
It’s also my first soulslike (I play on pc though) and what I learned is not to fight every boss as I encounter it, to explore and get stronger first. Also, you don’t always have to fight - you can summon your horse and run through large groups of enemies and such. Also, use summons against bosses
Finished Citizen Sleeper (Well, one ending) one of my favourite games of the year, do recommend, took me one route 6 hours and a half
I think the biggest trick to Elden Ring and other Soulslikes is rewiring your brain to recognize that death is not a failure state
Souls/echoes/runes are ephemeral and there will always be more, and every time you die you are learning something new
smt3 is hella fun but my main two moods alternate wildly between '5 has taught me well' and '5 has spoilt me'. the main gameplay and all is great but when i delve into anything to do with learning skills and managing stats then it all just becomes a confusing mess. but i want to understand it and make plans of action before i screw myself over, lmao
oh yeah iirc skill inheritance and stuff works in mysterious ways in smt3 lol. i just looked up gamefaqs for them
yeah it's. weird lmao, if you want to get skills on something you have to try your best to get as many desired skills on as many parents as possible, then savescum and hope your result isn't biased towards the parents' innate moves. i think
some good tips up there. i'm gonna add that smithing up your weapons is huge. a +4 weapon may do twice as much as one not upgraded.
put lots of stats into vigor. you'll learn enemy behavior better when they don't 1-shot you! endurance good, equip better armor.
pumping those stats rather than damage stats makes learning the game easier imo
Wait. So Coffee Talk is getting a Sequel?
That's.... Surprising
Specially given the creator sadly passed away
how's okami on the switch?
it works fine
its not as HD but it works well on the switch
havent experienced any lags or delays while playing the game itself
I didn't know this
Yeah, Mohammed Fahmi, incredibly talented writer and dev, sadly he passed away at the end of March.
Damn, that's awful. I'll have to read up on him
He was making also Afterlove EP, which they announced had to delay it for his passing but they still want to finish it, so a friend of his took over.
He also made What Comes After which is a nicely well written game.
I see. Thank you for the heads up on the games
Goodbye FIFA
lol I thought this was a joke
That the actual fifa is going to call itself EA sports
is this a roguelite https://store.steampowered.com/app/1608290/GNOSIA/

it's very fun because the protagonist is very savvy. (compared to like ace attorney or danganronpa when you feel like you know the answer already but the protag is slow)
i just wishlisted this one recently! it looks interesting
I have wishlisted this VN because it looks good but expensive

Gonna quit the embed to not clog the page
synergia was nice, but i wasnt blown away by it. i heard its getting a free dlc
Yeah but the artstyle was quite enjoyable, there is something ethereal yet gritty about it
yeah the art was why it caught my eye! i thought it looked really cute
just got a steam deck as an gaming upgrade for a Mac what non-aaa windows games should I get for it
What kind of games do you like?
crosscode, va-11 hall-a, oxenfree, the danganronpa games, p4 golden, omori, the messenger, katana zero, going under, the artful escape are all great indie games
and should run on steam deck no problem
Anything with a cool art style or emotional story tbh
Thx for recs
kentucky route zero, norco, and tales of berseria are other good ones
darkest dungeon, katana zero, dont starve together, hk, limbo, inside, dicey dungeons are good options imo
Unreal_Life is both!
ty for recs everyone will look into all
Jenny LeClue, Night in the woods
Spiritfarer is good
it's a cute game
I'm not a ER player but I enjoy the fan-works.
Also I watch my cousin and friend livestream

this art style is so cool!
i hope i beat this game one day... i enjoy the bosses but the exploration is so scary lol

Explain? I'm guessing that word is bad?
SooOOooo… In their next update, Dead Cells is going to put a Continue Mode in their game, basically it’s a setting that allows the player to just get back to the start of a biome instead of being back at the start of the run when they die
It’s an accessibility setting
Nice, guess all that wanted to win it normally had done it already by this point
I don’t really mind it, but it seems there is a certain pushback from some players regarding it
Thoughts?
didn't even notice that tbh
There's pushback on literally all accessibility options if they aren't in the game from the start regardless of any context ever
I'd take that setting as some sort of training wheels, use if I have trouble actually finishing runs until I can do it consistently, then take it off
i think that's a pretty cool setting
The biggest points that is being said the most by some people is that it’s not a roguelite anymore if we have that setting
People genuinely complain about games having difficulty settings fun fact
What is cool is when old games still receive updates
i dunno, does it matter if it's not a roguelite? like does that change anything about the actual game or recursive if it's maybe not 100% in one specific game category?
Gives me a excuse to replay them
One of my favourite games ever is getting a new dlc
I mean, Hades has God Mode
6 year old game, btw
Exactly why I think it doesn’t matter at all. Like, at the core of Dead Cells, is that it’s a solid action platformer, and I feel like there’s actually some people that just enjoys that and not so much on the roguelite part of the game. Continue Mode is a response to those people, a tool for them to use that tailor the game just for them
And again, 5 year old game, most of the people who actually wanted to finish the game the Standard game already done so, this helpes the stragglers that wanted but were put off by the difficulty
Here’s the video that sparked the discussion on YouTube btw. It’s a two-parter, so, there’s another one in their channel that started the whole thing
This is the part 2 of the continue mode debate. Make sure to watch the first part if you haven't. I answer some popular arguments surrounding this topic, and give my responses to them.

the idea that people complain when nothing was taken away but new things got added is baffling
smt3's matador is really something. i went and prepared as much as possible and then the man just pulled out dekunda and focus 😔
anyways onto the topic of dead cells. accessibility is not bad ever. thats all i have to say on the topic
still remember getting rekt by matador! been over a decade now lol
yeah he is quite something. i had everything i could want for that battle except for access to dekaja and he still was an absolute pain lmao. thankfully counter knocked him down in the end
to be fair this is what i was fully expecting going in
Though I'd find Mot to be even worse, given the randomness of his AI
yeah i've heard many bad things about mot
but enough of that, i'm gonna go meet up with my favourite incredibly suspicious and unnerving old man. because i probably should not do that just yet
they can just... yknow, not enable it lmao
it literally takes away nothing from their experience.
i would love to see the twitter thread of that
some DC people continue to impress me with how elitist they are. I have said before that they are by far the least fun roguelite folks that ive known of.
Missed this from earlier but the relationship between Mohg and Miquella is like, Huge Bad Big Gross
typical divine pantheons!
:O I might actually finish the game finally
Anyone try sound fall out yet? Seems like a cool game
Yeah I know that but it's funny that in many artworks Mohg is the one being bullied and teased in this relationship LOL
Do you think Freddy Fazbear's does Delivery? This is a time sensitive question
my question is does it show that you have it enabled in like
end of run stats (I assume dead cells has this I haven't beaten it)
difficulty options are cool whatever elitists are annoying
idk if I consider difficulty options 'accessibility' though
being hard is not being inaccessible
So I tried Dreamscaper. I have few gripes with it yet I always come back to it
Accessibility seems to have widen into a bigger scope these days, ranging from handling issues with disabilities to being new-player-friendly to having less and less player-quit moments
🤷♀️
No, it doesn’t, Dead Cells never had end-of-run screens, it just fades to black, credits roll and you jump back to the hub
yes
henlo, frens
i...
have finally played that fabled, mythical leaked 2001 build of DNF
and i am making a lot of really sad noises

finally, some closure
it's been 20 years
duke nukem forever
one of the most infamous or THE MOST infamous constantly delayed game
they started working on it in 1997
delayed it a bunch of times
switched engines like 4 times
restarted the whole thing a bunch
there were lawsuits, most of the staff left
it switched hands more than once
its publisher went bankrupt
and then gearbox got the hold of it and released it in 2011
and it was utter garbage
and now...
now we got that gorgeous looking build from 2001 - the one that looked out of this world for the time
if this game were to actually release in 2001, videogames would've look completely different nowadays
oh wait
I read that as "not aware"
i need some coffee
youre right though lmao
i... still can't get over it
i still can't get over the fact that i have this weird piece of videogame history on my hard drive
this build is downright legendary
https://store.epicgames.com/en-US/p/prey
prey is free today on egs
amazing game, grab it and play if you havent already played it
kinda related to that DNF leak, in a twisted and equally just as sad way
GIVE ME MY OG PREY 2 BACK, YOU COWARDS!
release my child, please

nooooooOOOOOOOOO!
a mirror's-edgy first person action game set in an open, grimy cyberpunk-ish universe where you play as a bounty hunter/killer for hire?
and it's a sequel to one of the most underrated FPS games in history?
gimme that
there are a lot of projects that got cancelled or never came to fruition and its okay to be sad about it but i hate that arkanes prey is getting the short end of the stick about it because of that. the two are definitely not related at all
that's... exactly my problem
i'm not saying this new prey isn't a good game
it's flippin amazing, actually
but i hate that bethesta just... parades preys dead body just for brand recognition and nothing else
and i think it was even confirmed in the noclip doc
they were like "so we've got this prey loicence... and we're not doing anything with it... ah - just slap it onto arkanes new thing, whatever"
like
come on
also - the fact that this OG prey 2 was going well and it got scrapped because of a really hostile corpo takeover makes it even more painful
like - the dev process was going well
but this awesome looking game died because some suits got buttblasted
this is why we can't have nice things
corpo bad
unless it's nintendo
I'm still salty about Prey 2
Oh God Opus now has voice acting. Perfect opportunity to replay it later
Although dunno if I should play it in Japanese or Chinese
it's used as an informal synonym of money in some latinamerican countries
ohh interesting. i just knew it as money in disco elysium lol
voting japanese because i dont know chinese
Yeah I like Japanese dubs but the Devs are Chinese so maybe that was the intended way 🤔
Guess I'll play 10 minutes each

i'm so happy that remedy is back on their feet
doing what they want and what they're good at
Damn I forgot this exists lol
Control is a really good example of how your visual design makes your game much more memorable (and frankly, better). Compare it to Quantum Break - similar gameplay, similar impressive graphics, but the locations are just so boring - some random office, a random industrial yard, a lab - the only thing memorable is the time machine
Oh my God.
oh for sure
it also helps that control is just generally a more interesting game with more "out there" ideas
they don't all stick the landing - it's a mixed bag ||the second mold lady quest can go and take a hike
||
but i'll take a game that has higher highs and lower lows over a game that's a constant meh anyday
also - control has way better characters
writing
music
levels
combat
yeah tbh I don't like bossfights in general and just overleveled in the end
it's just the tacked-on crafting and leveling up that makes me go
yeah the bossfights are...
eeeeeh
the upgrade to grab and throw three things just tears through everything in the end loool
the weird cthulhu monster was cool
that weird blob with all those clocks was meh
and the mold boss can go
oooooh that one
pure gamer rage, right there
I hated it
but then it had the ||esseJ fight||
which was awesome!
the whole setup and execution was just
pure Remedy goodness
anyways - my point is
i'm glad remedy got out of that financial mess and they're not stuck making bland games for microsoft
and i can't wait to see how a full on horror game written by Sam Lake pans out
totally gonna borrow my friends PS5 for it next year
good ol suomi janitor
the most powerful UNIT in the whole game
i love that wrinkly old man
always brings a smile
ok so i met dante and he is certainly a cool dude. even if his crit rate is absolutely ridiculous and he has dekunda
most if not all enemies are introduced with a little cutscene, sometimes with character interactions, this is one of my favorite designs... tho they're an absolute pain to fight, once they start spinning they're like a time-out for your combo, at least when you first encounter them with Dante, later on they become managable for... reasons
DEVI...
yeah he's cool
This game looks both fascinating and hilarious
Finished a game that was in my backlog since past October. It feels incredibly satisfying.
now if only we could get prey (2017) 2
or maybe the system shock franchise could come back to life for real this time please
DMCV actually has one of the biggest pop-off endings I've ever seen

yup

oh dammit now I wanna play as vergil again
I somehow went from trying to explain why the visual novel Arcade Spirits is so good to how the evolution of the visual novel genre has been influenced by the global expansion of the video game industry, especially the indie game market.
I am both impressed with and absolutely terrified of myself.
it do be like that
it really do be

Still
Square Enix's wildcard is yet to release
Forspoken, it either sells incredibly well or incredibly badly, no middle point
Plus The Diofield Chronicle, Valkyrie Elysium and maybe? FFXVI
I don't have a lot of hope.
Even less so since they recommended Balan: Wonderworld.
I hope poorly, due to 0 Black writers despite the story being partially about the Black experience and using harmful Black stereotypes when they described the protagonist. (ex: she was on the verge of going to prison, she's "very angry", and one of the devs described her walking animation as a "hip-hoppy walk" 😐😐😐) no way am I gonna pay money just to see people like me be ridiculed yet again
Oh, I admit I didn't know that
All g, even from a gameplay standpoint the game looks p wack lol
I just try to absorb as little pre-release material as possible because now all trailers are obsessed with putting things that are basically fat spoilers on it
Specially in a game that seems to be narrative-based
Fair enough, I'm glad I found out early on so I didn't have to be hyped at least
No worries thanks for the heads-up
With most of their recent games being flops and the president's interest in c rypto, can't be excited about their future, myself
Yoshida's back can't take all this carrying

i dont care about genre
OPUS: Echo of Starsong, Crosscode and Library of Ruina
Portal, Celeste, and Kentucky Route Zero
do i have to play the prequel to ruina b4 playing ruina?
played all three, enjoyed them all
Yeah, I figured there wouldn't be anything new for you there lol :)

Rhythm Heaven, Hollow Knight, Nier Automata

I can't believe it

They made it so you can Play LoR without LC as they explain to you everything that happened in LC, although the emotional impact is lessened.
Still recommend trying LC and if the game is too hard for you stop
crosscode, persona 4 golden, last of us part 2
That's because LC and LoR are VERY HARD games, but while LoR is hard in the "Thinking" way, LC is hard in the "Reflex and micro-managing" game
aight ty
miitopia, iconoclasts, and pl:a
transistor and cotnd are honorable mentions
is pla arceus? or does it have another meaning. Arceus was fun but I am surprised to see it as someones top 3
bastion/pyre (tied), the sims, ffta2
Pyre/transistor/terraria
Dust: An Elysian Tail, Muramasa Rebirth, Odin Sphere.
I should play Dust again
Pyre, Outer Wilds, Majora's Mask
I’d say, Diablo 2 LoD, Ni no Kuni 1 and Civ6
I just watched the recent Nintendo Indie World and coincidently, there is a crab game there
Also, the Idol Manager game has some gorgeous artworks, that’s my pick for this one
ffxvi will absolutely sell like hotcakes
idk if final fantasy ever sells poorly especially in recent years
lightning returns?
wasn't that only the western games
not like they have to worry about them anymore lmao
In September 2014, Square Enix announced the Final Fantasy XIII series has been widely successful and has shipped over 11 million copies worldwide.

Well, I guess not
praise the vanillaware! 🙏
praise the vanillaware! 🙏
if only my psvita's memory is still readable
what about 13 sentinels
ok fluffy i'll have a bot remind me to remind you every day
sable, disco elysium, thumper
didnt include transistor because this is the supergiant server lol but it’s my most favorite of all times
FIFA 19, fifa 20, fifa 21
I cant make a top 3 i like so many games
I can do a list though
-Hotline Miami
-Red Dead 2
-GTA IV, and V
-Titanfall 2
-Half Life series (Black Mesa included)
-Dying Light
-BeamNG Drive
-Halo 2
-Borderlands 1, 2 and PS
-L4D2
-Arma 3
-Metro Trilogy
-Stalker Anomaly
Not all but these are my all time favorites I always come back to
and yes I really like shooters I'm that much of a normie.
I would have put Legacy of Kain games but I never finished any of them since I played them in my childhood
Also MGR would be there but there's some parts in that game that just absolutely put me off
And I'd say DMC but I didn't finish any game of that franchise yet
Morrowind is also cool but it's not something i can just hop in and out like those games
Wait, we can list more than three?
no will not tolerate this subversive behavior
in which case, adding nier replicant to my list
replicant over automata?
How different was Replicant from Automata?
personally, i enjoy the ideas and philosophy.
however the characters felt under-written and from gameplay standpoint, it feels dated
^ replicant
not my cup of tea
oh yeah both niers have absolutely amazing soundtrack
Modern doom is boring in comparison with the milion of adhd indie shooters
mhm! i love automata but nowadays replicant sticks in my mind more. i would even say drakengard, but i feel like the gameplay is so bad and the characters so controversial that i dont know that i can recommend it fully to anyone... i do love it though
also, it has more interesting fishing, and i liked the little gardening minigame of it. i feel like the remake also made the gameplay more fun and fluid
some things cant be fixed ofc like tedious side quests and grinding for materials but i enjoyed most of my time of 100%ing it
13 Sentinels goated
drakengard 3 is especially great with how deranged the characters are lol. but yeah i wish the gameplay was better
the only possible conclusion
That’s …
That’s the joke
lmfaoooo
imagine selling your western studios for nft investment cash a few days before nfts crash
if that means we are getting a new legacy of kain
i couldnt care less for other franchises
chibi jetstream sam is something i never knew i wanted in my life
SoooOOooo… I heard that Dead Cells Assist Mode will probably also still enables you to get the achievements. Now, now, I know this is the second time I’ve brought the topic up in these few days, I am really sorry, but, obviously, the question remains, what are your stance on this, and also your reasoning? I think this one deserves more discussion since it is somewhat heavier than the previous topic
Of course, I have my opinions on the why should this be a thing vs why it shouldn’t, but, I actually do want to know your own opinions on it
i dont see why it deserves "more" discussion, why do people who for whatever reason can not or do not want to play base difficulty be locked out of achievements?
because a bunch of hardasses of the genre say so?
Well, because it also one of the thing that presents pushback from certain players, with reasonable reasons as well
I guess I should state my stance on this topic as well; I’m ok with it, barring players from achievements when playing in Assist Mode defeats the whole purpose of the mode itself, it’s supposed to be accessible to more players but if you bar them from getting achievements, it’s like you’re saying, no, this mode is only there as practice mode instead of actually making the game more accessible
so you're scolding them for not playing the game correctly.
Maybe the real question is, what do achievements means to you guys nowadays?
when i think of achievements it brings to mind some kind of inane grind. so i have adopted the policy to ignore all achievements
Brain juices go when the cheevo dings
But it's a personal barometer more than a social one imo
"I accomplished thing and I feel good" vs "I accomplished thing don't you think I'm cool"
Like, I didn't plat Elden Ring and Bloodborne just to brag about it lol
i think some people really view achiements as a lot of time/"hard work" and so people getting the same achievements is devaluing that somehow. like well i'm part of the 7% of players who got this achievement, if more people get it then it's less impressive that i have it. when it's like, people using assist mode are still doing all the same things to get the achievement and still putting in the effort, it's just a little different. i think the whole thing is silly and just a lot of elitism.
And some of those trophies can't be obtained anymore if they're only obtainable by playing online and said online has died
it was super funny when yoko taro just lets you buy all the achivements lol
All I can say about people wanting to discuss why difficulty options bad is shut up shut up shut up shut up lmao
It is a single player game and has no bearing on your own experience if you're not going to use it
Something i only do if i like the game enough/find it not too annoying
Assist mode blocking badge-style achievements (ie those that completely don't affect gameplay. Cosmetics are not covered by this) is fine imo. Or they can add some asterisk on the achievement that said you did it with assist
What I have issue with is people arguing it should only be allowed on 0BC, or not allowing assist mode wins to unlock more BCs
Since that's locking lore and gameplay behind the skill wall, and defeats the purpose of assist mode
Maybe as in maybe comes in 2022, hell will freeze if it doesn't sell a lot
I'll be surprised if it's not good tbh
Yoshida knows how to run a project and the Devil May Cry person is on combat design
I don’t think making a separate achievements for Assist-Mode players is a good decision tbh, it’s like the game is still saying they didn’t really accomplish anything because what they just accomplished is the easy mode. It kinda defeats the whole purpose of Assist Mode; making the game as accessible and open for everyone, or as much people as possible, not really as an easy, cheat-mode to get by the game easier than everyone else
That doesn't make sense
First you say "the game is saying they didn't accomplish anything", and then follow up with "they accomplished the easy mode"
which sounds like you yourself are deeming using assist mode as an inferior way to play the game
when it's not, it's just different
it's why I also said it shouldn't apply to gameplay content (like not being able to get BCs in dead cells)
a player could work hard for their achievement. tested and researched everything, every bit by themself.
or they could have learned strats from other players.
or read the wiki
or just a boomer dad asked his kid to play for him.
at what level is it considered 'earned' ?
better question, is there a need to gatekeep?
but how will people know how awesome and good i am at this game if i dont arbitrarily gatekeep subjective measures of personal achievements 🥺
also gestures back at a story that was circulating around shortly after elden ring came about about a guy and his gf and how the gf beat the game, but she didnt beat it to his satisfaction so he considered the game not actually beaten by her because she used features within the game to assist her, and regardless if the story was fake or not there are actual people with this sort of mindset that say this nonsense all the time, because its just going to persist so long as there is gatekeeping over inane things like game completion and achievements. if you finished a game, if you got an achievement, you got it. how you did it does not matter, barring cheating in online environments that affects other players
if it doesnt affect other players then my opinion is stay in your own lane and stop caring what other people are doing and how they play a game <3
how dare someone value something so trivial as having fun when playing a game 😓
No, I didn’t mean that, what I meant was, having separate achievements kinda communicates that Assist Mode was different compared to the normal modes by making it looks like an easier mode, because it has separately tagged achievements that isn’t the actual same achievements you get in normal mode
Simply said, try to make Assist Mode as normal looking as possible as to not communicate to other that it is an easy mode, by making it looks the same as normal mode as much as possible
The game should try to communicate that it’s fine to play Assist Mode if that is what you wanted, without making it feel like it’s an easy mode
but why should Assist mode be "normal" looking? There's nothing wrong with using an easier mode if that's what lets a certain player to have more fun, so long as gameplay elements aren't locked behind hard modes
FE3H has a unique menu skin you can unlock only if you clear the hardest difficulty in a fresh file. So is that also exclusionary?
like I don't want to grind for it, so I'll never get the gold backdrop. But that's fine, it doesn't mean those who can't get it are inferior
Because you don’t want players to feel like it’s an easy mode? That they have to trudge through normal mode again after getting through on Assist Mode to finally get the real achievements?
see again, "real" achievements.
implying that Asisst mode clears are inferior
If someone thinks assist mode clears are lesser, that's their own problem
you seem determined to stand your point, so I won't bother arguing
Also, if someone doesn't ping you in a response, take the hint and don't ping pack
The thing is, they do, easy modes in the past is often made to feel like it isn’t even a legit mode to play a game, that you often don’t get the same achievements as someone playing with normal mode
Easy mode really do feel like an easy mode meant to be easier for players, and making it feel like they don’t play the actual real game because the rewards they get when they beat a game in easy mode, isn’t the same as the rewards a normal mode player gets
Assist Mode is meant to feel a different way than the old easy mode in past games, where Assist Mode players really do get the same rewards as normal mode players get
“easy mode feels like an easy mode meant to be easier”
i think nero is saying that in assist mode having seperate achievements the game itself implies assist mode is lesser as you don't get the same rewards for clearing the same goal.
but, somewhat related- i looked at the achievements for a game i like and got hit with the double whammy of horrific achievements: something that makes 0 sense on what it wants and pvp wins on a game that is dead but had a very competitive meta.
so now i'm stuck
The fact of the matter is that the "it doesn't affect you" argument is entirely true.
Few other arguments can disprove this
If you want a particular experience then choose such experience, any arguments against being able to alter a game is trying to force the same experience on others.
It's looking for approval and validation fundamentally speaking
Validation from other players and the developers
While I don't particularly agree with the above sentiment it is objectively* true
hi , i recommend katana zero, good pixel art game with fun slicing and planning 👌

started playing Slay The Spire
played it for over 16 hours in under 2 days
and im gonna play more
welcome! what's your favorite class so far?
it's soo good isn't it
The reject
First of all - I identify with that name lol
And second
It’s a class for lazy people
You just have to get a few cards that give you more orbs and then watch them play the game for you
It’s amazing
Good bye, social life
It was nice knowing you
i just got back to playing a card battler myself and ive been having a lot of fun, but i mainly play it for the story, instead of building my deck properly i skip all the difficult battles
Defect I believe is the correct name
The watcher is my personal favourite
But I'm not the most competent in her playstyle

The defect haha but cool
Slay the Spire is soooo good. One of the few games I've had to force myself to uninstall because I just got way too addicted to it.
Just curious, what other card battler are you playing? Slay the Spire also showed me that I really like that genre.
Extremely late to the party, but bought Hollow Knight. A family friend who I haven't seen in a long time has recommended it to me. On top of that, I am now interested in streaming. Thing is, I suck at PC, and the only console I have is my Switch, which makes setting up a streaming rig ten times more painful.
It’s called black book! I’m playing it for the story (and there is a lot of story) but it also has a roguelike dlc which I haven’t tried. It has a feature where you can skip battles if you fail them about 3 times with no punishment, so instead of building my deck in a smart way, I’ve been utilizing it a lot to just see the story…
Oh yeah, I've heard of that one. Onto the Steam wishlist it goes. I like the idea of being able to skip battles if you keep failing them.
i only wish the skip was there from the beginning, but i suppose then it would defeat the point of it being a card battler and not a visual novel lol
Yeah, something like a story mode would probably be good for that game. I've started really appreciating games that let me just get on with the story if I'm not feeling the gameplay.
Just got a Series S for Game Pass and golly is Tunic a good game. Not sure why I'm so much more engrossed in it than Death's Door, despite both games having a lot of similarities
Do you ever wake up, get a good look at that goofy texture that is somehow perfectly replicated on every ceiling ever, and wonder what the Beyond Good and Evil 2 dev team is doing at that exact moment?
That still exists?
ngl I thought that game came out a billion years ago
Haha

It isn't worth the potential time to be spent though
I miss rpgmaker games
Also a game with quite the engaging demo is coming in two days
I reccomend trying the demo
Eternal Threads is a single-player, first-person story-driven puzzle game of time manipulation, choice and consequence. As an operative tasked with fixing corruption in the timestream, you have been sent to the North of England in May 2015, where six people died in a house fire. Prohibited from simply stopping the fire, you must instead manipulat...
May 19, 2022
Basically you have to manipulate the decisions taken by 6 people the day the died to create a perfect situation where they lived
As far as I played the game is quite throughout on how to handle the consequences
Tunic has this very old school Legend of Zelda aspect where there's as much a sense of discovery by just learning the game's mechanics as there is by actually exploring the world
It does a good job of seeming very cryptic and "Nintendo Power-y" in terms of figuring things out while actually doing a really good job of guiding the player
Death's Door has the better combat but lacks a lot of that explorative sense of discovery that Tunic has. I certainly don't blame people that prefer it over Tunic, but Tunic's design and world building feel a lot better imo
I see I see
Now you're playing with Nintendo Power
Yeah, one of the game's main collectables are basically pages of a "Nintendo Power" style guide manual for the game, and, while most of it is in a gibberish language, there's a lot of visual aides and just enough English to make it perfectly understandable
so moonrunes
Essentially, yeah
So you're essentially learning more about the world by finding the pages to this in universe game manual thing while you're playing. I'm honestly a little stunned by how clever it is
Plus, the feaux NES game manual look is just adorable
That really does look nice
yes that's the one, comissar
Lmao

Ey Foxhope Have you downloaded the new Furi DLC?
oh dang i wasn't aware that it was out tbh
smt3 story update: i have disowned all my friends. where is dante i'm joining his side now

Papa Bear to all units: Bohemia Interactive has deployed its first milestone on the road to Arma 4.
Watch the first trailer for #ArmaReforger, now available on PC (Early Access) and Xbox Series X/S (Game Preview). Enjoy the studio's progress on their new Enfusion engine, offering a glimpse of things to come. Functioning as a creative platform, ...
Oh my God.
I missed the livestream 😭
God I can't believe it's happening, a new functional Arma game.
Although this is more of a tech demo as Arma 4 is still in development.
Is anybody here playing V Rising? Why is the most sold game rn on Steam? Never heard of it
apparently its from the same developers as battlerite, which i vaguely remember hearing about
i saw some good reviews of it on YouTube last week
I think it’s a vampire arpg with good combat so ig that’s why people like it
isn't that the same one people were in the forums like, hey remember when they abandoned this other game
Do I have to play the previous dmc games to enjoy dmc 5?
Should i buy dmc 5, mgr, or bayonetta first
You don't really, there's some refs but if you watch a summary on YouTube that'll tell you everything you need to know, also I'm pretty sure there's a recap at the very beginning of the game
And I'd recommend playing the special edition version if you can
Bayonetta real

i finished black book btw, i really liked the story and reading the folklore in it. i did 2 playthroughs, one good and one bad, and it was really neat to see the changes in dialogue between them. i didnt try the english voiceover for too long but it seemed to me that the russian vo was much better
Semi regular Tunic appreciation thread: Game still good. Please play good game if you have Game Pass

this game...
just won't let me go
i've sunk as many hours into STS as i did into DS2
and you know what?
DS2 left me drained - it felt like i played it for at least a 100 hours
while STS after 40 feels more like... 10
got to zone 4
and got rekt
died to a heart
poor draw's to blame
i ain't even mad
cause it's still a good game
Welcome to a candidate to one of your favorite games
I still can't beat act 3 reliably
games i have over 100 hours in
except it gets progressively worse
botw
acnh
sims 4
miitopia.
that's it
also if we are counting online mmos
animal jam
which i prolly have like well over 500 hours since ive been playing since 2010
adding FE3H
Finally finished Dicey Dungeons. I am so happy that it allows for save scumming, because I don't think I would have beat some of the later episodes without it.
Monster hunter tweeted the new bow switch skills and I am so on board with this, I am so ready for sunbreak to come out
just one more month
man I play 3 weapons and all three have looked so good so far, I'm so excited for the insect glaive stuff, let me yeet myself into a monster attack until I get used to the timing lmao
As trite as it sounds, I always felt like the Mother series was one of the original "Undertale" style niche classics that the gaming industry got
They're very much not the best RPGs mechanics wise, but they're carried so hard by their great, offbeat writing and atmosphere that they can punch way up anyways
try Elden Ring
I would if I could
have you played yggdra union? its been long time now that my memory of it is hazy, but i remember liking it quite a bit
I've heard about it, but I haven't played it
i just remember its was unique, and pretty hard
unit dont recover between missions so you start to really feel it the further you go
i like the tenseness you feel from that though
Yeah, that game got really difficult later on. I never have been able to finish it. Too bad because it's really fun.
That sounds really cool. I like games that are different on the second playthrough. Definitely going to pick that game up when I catch it on a good sale.
Black book is on my backlog
so I sort of took a wrong turn in legends arceus and ended up at a place with L40+ Machokes when my team is all mid 20s
the twist is I have a Drifloon that they all can't hit
so I'm overleveled now lol
17 more to go brother
also have you ever played StS together with someone and discuss/backseat the choices?
more fun that it sounds
Me with friends on L4D2: "yea let's do advanced hard eight. What could go wrong?"
2 days and 15 retries later
Me: "I'm so sorry for suggesting it."
try B4B maybe?
My friends understandably don't want to spend money on that game
I mean we did try on the beta? I think
They weren't very impressed
B4B afaik got worst post release especially with the devs nerfing stuff because it wasn't "the way the game is meant to be played"
as well as explicitly nerfing things speedrunners used
A story about how Turtle Rock Studios turned against the Speedrunning Community of their game. Watch the whole video, because this goes beyond Speedrunning. Turtle Rock's actions explained in this video should show the entire player base that the developers don't understand how to keep their game fun and balanced, and are trying to control playe...
Fox, I'd suggest watching the video ^-^
(I saw the deleted message)
oh cool, I need something to watch
okay but he doesn't address the fact that speedrunners can and have ruin games in public lobbies using speedrunning techniques, i put the video in 2x so i might have missed something but still
21:25 ig he does mention it
but his response is that the speedrun community "discourages" people to do that in public lobby
those rushing public lobbies in the vast majority of cases aren't speedrunners
okay fair
anyone who speedran B4B did it offline
okay agreed
there's also better ways to discourage people from rushing than completely nerfing the cards that speedrunners use
i honestly don't see how
L4D2 spawning in enemies like hunters, chargers etc.
you go too far ahead alone you get punished for it
they already have that implemented
the zombies AI and director spawn enemies closer and directed at the person closest to the saferoom aka the person using the speedrun deck
also a quick google search on "speedrun B4B" yields mostly negative results on forums
i love speedrunning, don't get me wrong, but the video seems a bit one-sided to me
if i was Turtle Rock, nerfing cards would definitely be on my radar, not because i want to screw over speedrunners, but because it is a possible way to stop non-speedrunners from abusing the system
it's coming from someone who speedruns for a living, it's always gonna be biased towards speedrunning
whether maxylobes is conscious of it or not
fair enough. and as a casual player who play solo in public lobbies, i have had a fair share of people abusing speed decks, either trivialize the game for everyone or suck hard and make other clean up their mess
the nerfs went beyond nerfing specifically speedrun strats tbf
idr everything they nerfed because it's been a while
but a lot of the justification boiled down to "the game isn't being played as we intended"
they do nerf many things beyond speed yeah
for example, melee durability has been scaled down a bit
yeah i can agree with this.
it's more of a poor execution than a malicious intent, but Maxylobes made it out as if Turtle Rock is out for blood (no pun intended) which rubs me the wrong way i suppose
yeah, I get that, part of it could be salt from a speedrun he enjoyed being effectively killed with the changes
absolutely poor execution on turtle rocks part, the obfuscated patch notes don't help in one potentially reading that turtle rock did it on purpose
truth is i think B4B pales in comparison to L4D2, the only thing that keeps me hooked on the game is the different characters/classes and the deck system
the best thing they have done yet to the game
though this seems to be the consensus haha
ye, I always go back to L4D2 at one point or another and I never picked up B4B because having watched people play it (outside of speedrunning) something about it didn't feel right to me
it's the extreme coordination required and the bullet sponge specials for me
who needs league when you can play B4B lobbies
lol
i am a sucker for a pain huh
yeah, that might be it
I definitely noticed the specials being incredibly bullet spongey
that was never the case with L4D2 (outside of the tank)
yeah, one person can take out specials in L4D2, not quite the case in B4B
imagine a L4D2 Episode 2, where L4D2 is upgraded with some class/build system
we don't talk L4D3 because Valve can't count to 3
Lel
tbh I like L4D2 cause it doesn't have class/build system, though it may help on some harder runs.
I just remembered that World War Z is a thing
oh that was pretty fun
sprint....and ADS
That’s how I got introduced to STS in the first place
A friend dropped by, showed me this game and boom - suddenly it’s 8 hours later and we’re arguing who’s a bigger dumbass for not being able to count our block points
Spoiler alert
No one was right - we were both pretty
b4b is so funny because they advertised it as being by the same people as l4d and it turns out its actually like...3 people
everyone forgot its the same team that made such classics as Evolve

#IGN #MetalHell...
Good lord.
I want this although I suck at rythm games
Wasn’t there like a…
A second game like that in the works ?
Like - the exact same concept and all
Huh
people who drink energy drinks have my respect because i could never
i know some of my irl friends are playing tetris on and off and i miss playing it myself
makes my heart go funny
i predominantly drink energy drinks for work or for when i exercise. otherwise it doesn't make sense for me to drink them because i'm often sedentary
coffee is my to go drink for that
gfuel advertises its drinks for gamers and i'm just wondering what gamer out there needs 300mg of caffeine for tetris or sonic. 140mg? okay. 300mg? unreasonable
coffee is the superior drink but it stains my teeth u_u
just enough caffeine without wrecking my body like the one monster i had
speedrun tetris obviously
i have another gamer caffeinated drink that has 75mg of non-synthetic caffeine and that amount makes a lot of sense. plus it has coconut water powder, which makes it hydrating (but buying actual coconut water is cheaper)
also monster tastes gross
i don’t know about the other energy drinks but
i've never had monster and never will
what does tetris gfuel taste like
like fizzy tropical juice. the best tasting energy drink i've had so far. the faze clan sour berry powder tastes awful
ooh that doesnt sound bad
it's bitter, only slightly sour, berry taste? what berry taste
tetris doesn't taste artificial. faze clan does
yesterday i learned strawberry flavoring in a macchiato is underrated
its sounds terrible but its very subtle and delicious
if you want to continue the conversation, we can move to #off-topic-discussion
up to you though!
oh sure
wait are this and BPM related at all?
Nah mate
There was another one
so I just saw the new weapon showcase (LS and Lance) of MHR Sunbreak
wow
why, capcom? why?
Finally started getting into Persona 4 Golden
yeah this game is good
port 3 to steam already atlus
and 5 pls
I have installed skyrim yet again
can anyone recommend any good semi-arcadey games from the steam racing fest?
I found out my new elden ring build tree sentinel armor, Heavy Zweihander, and Lion’s Claw
my hades switch cart now lives in my hollow knight box and my hollow knight cart lives in the hades box, and I have no clue how they ended up that way
I have a deduction about that. Are you ready?
HK features, and centers around a sprawling, massive location beneath ground. Hades does as well. These two works, shares this theme. But one is about starting from the bottom, the other starting from above. They tackle it from opposite angles. And now they are in opposite boxes. Coincidence? I think not.
man energy drinks are a thing. i forget they exist
in other news i am now this close to getting every achivement in mhr but exams are literally just around the corner and it's just. not fun
All I can think of are NFS and Forza
I play racing games that lean more to realism
You know what?
Racing games - as a genre - make me sad
It has such a huge potential
And yet it’s the most stagnant genre out there
All we get nowadays are 4 different flavors of “arcade-y open world racing but with real cars” and maybe a cart racer once in a blue moon
Where’s stuff like carmageddon?
Destruction derby?
I wanna crash cars in cool ways
Where’s burnout ?
Where’s stuff like split second where you get to cut a whole track in half by dropping a whole 747 in the middle of it?
Like - come on
There’s so much cool stuff you can do with racing games
You guys remember Fuel?
Playing that stuff back in the 360 days felt like seeing a glimpse of the future
And no one since really expanded on that concept.
How about a car roguelite for @polar dragon ?
Where you get a single car - that’s your run.
If you crash it - it’s back to the start.
But nah
Let’s just slap some real cars we’ve all seen a hundred times into a sunny open world and ubisoft some events all over the place and call it a day.
Let’s make car paint slightly shinier and call it a sequel.
- sigh *
SuperGiant Kart when ?

Forza is very mid for me
I only like the real cars
it's the FIFA of racing
or smash bros of racing depends how you call it
but the driving physics are amazingly disappointing and unsatisfactory
I like Assetto but I cba to properly set up my cheap wheel
so I just play BeamNG
but yeah racing genre is insanely stagnant
GT7 could have been the game to revive it but ended up being bad
how about a new driver?
now there's a really good racing game - san francisco was amazing
buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut... then the sequel got turned into...
...watch dogs, believe it or not
and now reflections studio is doing...
...actually - what tf are they even up to nowadays anyway?
(╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

I'll proceed to not give a damn about Ubisoft as usual
Other than to laugh at them
i would love a good arcade racing game
something like redout or a mix between rythm and racing would be great
id play this
Redout 2 did get announced
Too bad you cant play it anymore
It's worrying that Mario Kart seem to be the most innovative games in the racing genre these days. They don't do very much innovating at all, but last I looked into it they innovate, which makes them the leader
Crash team racing is also really good
Well, except that new one kinda shot itself in the foot with MTX
Rocket League is a racing game.
I thought it was a sports game
Square is a rectangle.
motorsports 😎
is rocket league the one that is basically football but in cars
It’s basically that one top gear episode: the game
Yeah, I think so
oh no no no no...

what a good news to wake up to
Isn't the point of the apes is that no one can take em unless sold?
Ig nothing is nidiot proof
NFTs are genius tbh
it's a gold rush, a pyramid scheme AND an idiot tax all in one
brilliant!
Non Fungible Token?
more like - Non Refundable Token
no refunds, my fren
Non functioning testicles
man - cryptobros just can't catch a break
this makes me want ubisoft to actually go along with their NFTs plan and see them fail
and i don't mean "sales were below expectations" fail
i mean "literally only three people bought our NFTs and two of them got hacked" kind of fail
NFTs
More like
Ninety Five Tacos
Profanity filter won't let me put exactly what I wanted :/
I'm stealing borrowing this one
NoooOOOooOoo!
You can't steal my NFT like that!
i own it!
don't screencap it, nooooo!
I'd right click save that but the picture is uglier than sin so not even that
Got my eyes set on two games that are similar to Pokémon but are not Pokémon...
Nexomon and temtem
Would you recommend either of those two?
isn't temtem still being developed, haven't heard anything about it from people after the initial disgruntled swsh rush
like they haven't gotten to full release yet, i mean. from what i heard
what's this disgruntled swsh rush you speak of
Nexomon extinction is kinda fun. More exciting/challenging than some part of the Pokemon franchise.
The humor is there but it could be hit or miss. I personally enjoy it.
I've just read that temtem plays online only and may or may not require an online sub so that may be a no for me 😅
Nexomon on the other hand...that looks right up my alley, and the two games are going to be released together again, so...win win
tf2 !!!???
TF2 community, we hear you! We love this game and know you do, too. We see how large this issue has become and are working to improve things.

also bioshock trilogy is free on epic games store rn

when swsh came out
a lot of people looking for an alternative to pokemon around that time to due to how critically swsh was received, and temtem happened to come out around the right time for people to migrate over and try it, either genuinely looking for another game in the genre or looking to tear it down as an inferior product
that was the bulk of temtem's exposure back then
and yeah temtem is kinda being developed as this like.. sort of mmo-esque sort of thing
ah
which one was the one which had the trailer where you used this dumb little sheep man as a meat shield against poachers with guns. that was about swsh time and it uh. certainly was a trailer
Palworld. And apparently it was in 2021.
Sonic 06 of all games has been relisted again...based or stoopid?
the more people who have access to that game the more we run the risk of people trying to rewrite history as it "not being that bad" and a "misunderstood masterpiece"
jokes aside no games should be delisted unless there's a very very obvious reason
Manhunt, for example
aw man but i love violence!
oh BOI
was that post topical (at least for me)
i borrowed TLOU2 from a friend - just to give it another fair shot and look at it with a clear mind and some hindsight
and hoooo baby - i can already see myself talking a lot about violence in video games in the near future
