preemptive F because graphics card shortage
oh no way, really?
right! why spend 400 on a ps5 when you can spend 3000 on a pc amirite
there's plenty of cheaper alternatives than 3k jlskdfj, plus there's a bunch of games that only release on PC and/or are best played on there
it's a personal choice
hades on pc seems like a dream, especially considering that modding is essentially pc only
plus for me personally, i don't see the PS5 as a must-have console as of now. sure it has demon's souls remake, but most other titles sony has planned for it are narrative driven cinematic games and those aren't my cup of tea
i got hades pc and ps5, same sheet different monitor tbh
i want a "casul" death screen 😔
To add to this, pc is slowly but surely getting some of the ps exclusives
right, but again for 400 bucks, youre getting essentially a 1200 dollar pc. and thats just a fact
is there a modding scene for hades outside of QoL like forcing dialogue or seeds?
for someone like me who isnt willing to invest into a pc, its the best alternitave
yeah man, that's totally cool
im no ps fanboy, but its a good ass deal if you can get one
i don't blame you at all
to each their own, both when it comes to your preferences and wallets
Yes and no, it's really hard to determine value like that
At the end of it its a personal preference thing
it do got that Ray Tracing though
if there's one thing I've ever needed in my day-to-day existence it's tracing dem rays
Rn, building your own pc or getting decently specced prebuild at a reasonable price ain't really an option purely because the gpu marked is so messed up
i get a PS5 the second fromsoftware announces bloodborne 2 exclusively for PS5
like oKAY now i gotta i guess!!
which i'm afraid will never happen 😔
it sucks when it comes to fgs like gg strive though, where ps has like 300% input delay as pc, even though its still pretty negligable, unless youre literally playing a pro level, it hurts to know that
there have been rumors about Bloodborne PC port
more like wishes about Bloodborne...
every day i send miyazaki emails
But depending on the games one playing, you can build a decent gaming rig using 2nd hand parts for quite cheap
Better to check the modding server
oh yeah I heard that Uncharted 4 & The Lost Legacy is coming to PC
i play dmc5 at 120fps raytracing on ps5, again for a 400 dollar console, i aint touching those specs on pc for less than a grand
i'm pretty excited for Elden Ring though
now that's a dang good idea
PC is also not that practical if you're moving around a lot
That's where mini-ITX builds are incredible
hey speaking of godspeed y'all played The Messenger?
u still playing a P(easant)S4?
Well...yes
ahhah im just talkin smack
i'm quite content with it until I get my upgrade
not like PS5s are easy to find...
i got mine before the ps4 pro came out
This is mostly due to a couple of things, DMC 5 is incredibly well optimised and consoles dynamically change the rendered (or was it native idqr) resolution to ensure a smooth gameplay experience
truth
and it needs a few more exclusives before I jump in, personally
I hope one day I can get a PS5 and foce my Dad to play The Last of Us
join a ps5 stock discord. i hunted for a ps5 for 3 months day in and day out. joind one of those discords, got one in 4 days. told a friend at work, he got one that day, and another 3 days later for his girl
i've been into several stores over the past year shopping for other things and walking past the PS5 section out of curiosity
and i have nEVER seen one for sale anywhere omg
saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaame
So its really hard to accurately compare console to ps5
TLoU is a PS3 game, though
Gamedec finished 8.5
same with the xbox series x
yeah but the Remastered
saying ps5 is better than pc because of DMC is like saying AMD is better than NVIDIA because of Doom (2016) performance
never seen one in the flesh
Glad I KS'it
also I want to only get one PS console
it's a non sequitur
either way, 400 bucks gets me 120fps with ray tracing lol. good luck getting comperable experience for even double that price on pc. i understand pc is more than games and has infinte potential, but for gaming on the cheap, comeon. its unbeatable
its just 1 example. and your ignoring the 1/3rd or less price bracket
well ps5 is $500
Am I the only one whose main priority on choosing console is the exclusive games I can buy/get from it?
dang I want to say something to that but eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh
yea, consoles are more affordable, relative to PCs, especially in the early years of a console
nah
I do that too
this is why I don't buy Xbox
yea, exclusives for me, plz
Ngl, I don't believe dmc 5 on console can run at 120fps with RT without comprimises somewhere
120fps with ray tracing on one game
Luckily 90% of great games come to pc.... Eventually
I did it anyway
indeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed
There are only 2 exclusive PS games I'm interested
it looks like that's true
And that from memory
I got a long list
the 10% that doesn't, I buy a console for
120 no ray on crucible on destiny 2. 60 4khrd on literally everythjing else
same upscaling involved, but 1080p 120fps upscaled is respectable
Bloodborne and Aegis Rim are the only games I would buy a PS for
at least i did not expected it myself
RT (depending on how its implimented) has been shown to significantly hamper performance time and time again, with current hardware
That Last of Us 1 & 2 (don't judge me please), God of War, Spider-Man, Spider-Man Miles Morales, Uncharted 1-LL
and also the ones coming out
Spiderman 2, too
yee
precicely. its obv gonna be 1080. again its 400 bucks lmao
Spider-Man 2 fits into this
I already have a PS3 so yeah except TLOU 1 that I already have those are good choices
Although the only one I could be interested is GoW
The thing is I wouldn't buy a console for them
I have played The Last of Us through PSNow but I want to play it without input delay
it's not awful
I would for 5 bloodbornes and 5 Aegis Rims
but I also want to play Grounded Mode and the DLC
I got a year of PS Now, to play through all the PS3 games I missed (never got a PS3)
I'm actually glad the Final Fantasies ended coming to PC, those I were interested in
oh yeah
gow and horizon are pretty much system sellers for me tbh. if it was betwwen those or halo, meh, ill take the ps, and get the gran turismo, and the other misc ps exclusives(spiderman and whatever else, thb i dont even care about those lol)
Same as Sunset Overdrive, THE good xbox exclusive
but I think I'm gonna wait for the WHOOOOOOOOOOLE saga to come out
that's also on Steam
that might take a while, haha
Yeah, that's why I'm glad it stopped being a xbox exclusive
Horizon was pretty cool
I liked it
im SO HYPE for gran turismo 7. i got a racing sim rig, my life will be gone when its out
My point is that most exclusives end in the sweet embrace of PC
but that's also on PC
yeah
Horizon was cool, yea
I honestly hate and love exclusives
there's a cruel lack of dinosaurs/robots in the industry, imho
was tsushima and sekiro multi platform? those ruled too
Sunset overdrive
XBOX
October 31, 2014
Microsoft Windows
WW: November 16, 2018
Tsushima no
Almost 4 years as exclusive
nice, those are must plays as well
Sekiro yes, sekiro was multiplatform on release
Because different publisher
it's on my WL, I'm waiting for a sale
bad publisher
I'm happy I swept up the game before the uh...
controversy...
plus i doubt the next true persona game(excluding the maybe someday smt5 on switch lol) will be ps as well. im a lowkey weeb and ps has all the dopest rpgs
there's gotta be DLC
Sekiro? At this point the chances are nil
im so happy hades is on literally everything. it really is the best game.
Wrong, DOOM 1 is in everything, Hades can't run in my polaroid
Lmao, it might if you try hard enough
Hades demake
Anyhow
Gotta start Eastward tomorrow
And I'll continue Berseria calmly
I'm making time for the 28
So I can play the GOATEST game again
Hades is not on the GBA
DOOM Hades
can run on calculator can't run on calculator
conclusion
hades is the literal only game that can make me say 1 more run, 9 times in a row, and lose 4 hours of sleep, multiple times a week lmao
Cars Mater-National is better that both of them
Remember Nightmare House 2? That famous Half Life mod?
Switch Steam Deck
Can't run LoL Can run LoL
Conclusion
Switch wins
Their creators are releasing a game next week
I have a friend that plays League and I sent that to him
I think he laughed at it
In Sound Mind is called
Seems interesting
God NH2 was from a time I get spooked easily
alright
I'm out
haha LoL and that entire genre of game is just impossible for me to get into. even watching high level guys on twitch is just paint drying to me.
Fun fact the first game I bought in Steam was a MOBA
And the best MOBA I ever played
im gonna play some blazblue, enjoy the debates playas!
Anyone here played Awesomenauts?
The game came out in 2012 and bought i back in 2014
yeah i rememberthat
That game was my true jam
I played a few hours, probably during a free weekend
short and sweet rounds
I can't do DOTA 2 anymore, with 90-min games
Yeah I played HoTS cause I preferred the short and intense games
oh yea, HotS was a nice change of pace from DOTA2, too
Oh, the Nintendo Direct was at 6am tomorrow at my time zone. Guess I won’t be watching it lol
not live, at least
I still like to spend time to watch things like that, even after they air
get some hype, haha
i dont own a switch so that means nothing to me
Yeah, I’ll just be bombarded by news that I will carefully not pay attention for until I have time to watch it lol
I still don’t understand why Silksong is always speculated on a Nintendo Direct
Like it’s an exclusive lmao
Switch is a good place for indies, that must be why
I guess so
So many indie gems on the Switch that I would otherwise not be able to play since Switch is all I have
switch for indies i feel is its true home. trying to make high tier demanding games just makes the system look like garbo. but for indies on the go, who could ask for more. thats 99% the reason im getting a deck. for indies. theyre legit my favorite thing. ill play AAA games at home on my baller tv, but my fav pixle art indies on the go is glorious
Older games as well
I played Witcher 3 first on the Switch
Doesn’t look as good lol
But it works
i love just laying down on my couch playing handheld also for most switch games
The best feeling
Awesomenoots Pog
One of 2 mobas in I'm not terrible at
What's the other one?
oh held back by that thing that 90% effects people 35 years older than the average age of pepople working in the field?
lol, jk. kinda
dunno how long they worked on the original game...
Silksong isn’t held back by covid at all
They already worked from home
also hasn’t even been 3 years since announcement
3 years
hungry knight tho
A knight from hungry?
Battlerite, sorry just saw this
np
Aka the other completely dead moba
My guess is the game is that large akin to HK + expansions so that bug testing (and fixing) is taking significantly longer than expected
Because I remember reading they were heading into final testing earlier this year
Weren't bugs a feature in HK
Lmao
yea, so they test them a lot more. the bugs must be perfect
I thought their engine was all set since HK, so this might mean they're adding lots of moves and new enemy types
I know nothing about Silksong though
I think so?
With 150+ new enemies (according to the reveal trailer), I'm sure there's lots of AI, pathing, hitbox, general fight feel testing to be done
HK:S has been memed to be in Development Hell long before Dread was announced tho
And let's be honest it's HOLLOW KNIGHT. Not even Metroid can make the hype that surrounds it to quiet down
Ye, the hype surrounding HK:S is insanely high
I'm 99% certain there will be people that hype it up for themselves so much and be dissapointed by the game because of it
FeelsCyberpunkMan 😔
To be honest the reverse for me
So long and I have found lots of games i like more than HK
I just want rhythm heaven man
So I have lost the hype although I'm still interested in playing it
Tbh, I don't even remember the reveal trailer contents anymore but that's probably for the best since I wanna go knowing absolutely nothing
Like now I found Blasphemous and Ender Lilies overall much more enjoyable for me
To give two examples
Or Vigil the Longest Night
I wanna check out Ender Lillies at some point, looks quite fun
For base HK, there's definitely been games that imo have improved on what it does
Ye ofc, the industry as a whole be like that
Always taking from what came before it and improving (hopefully) upon it
Having played through HK again revently, I still love it but there's definitely some gripes I have with it
The main one being wayward compass costing a notch slot.
I get it from a gameplay perspective, but from a qol perspective
The thing is, I get lost suuuuper easy lmao
its meant to be a crutch for newer players, personally i think its a perfectly sound design choice
since if youre more of a casual player having a set for exploration and a set for bosses is nice
i always just run the same stuff thats combat specific
like shaman stone, mark of pride, quick nail, spell twister, and i think thats all notches lol
since once youre good enough and dont need qol stuff or the more niche charms you can just run around and kill things
and in speedrunning you like only use 1 or 2 charms
That depends on the run
shaman stone on a any% and shaman stone and dream wielder on true ending
anything different sometimes you dont use any
low% you dont pick up a single charm
you also dont get dash
i think
Similarly as to why they go out of their way to avoid fighting gruz mother in low%
the people that do low% have wayy to much time to spare
yeah, agree. Same for map updating being a buyable. It's cool from a storytelling perspective but not from a pleasantness perspective. Also imo the crutch argument doesn't really apply here since the main challenge is the enemies, not the map
One QoL idea I have for HK is for those essence trees to become warp points after you complete them, like how Ori 2 implemented the wells, minus the healing every time you use it
I'd love that
Gives more reason to actively seek them out and complete them outside of an amount of essense and lore
to me the buyable map is cute enough to make up for the inconvenience but i definitely felt the wayward compass notch
🍰
still yet to play it after clearing the 1st boss and getting totally lost in the next area
i have tried to get through it a couple times but haven't been able to
i dont remember the boss names or orders so idk where i got stuck uhhh
is, like, which faction you swear allegiance to important
because I just said yes to the first person who asked and have no clue what it does
¯_(ツ)_/¯
@wraith cradle dude, did you realize the cutscenes are all redstrings? like, mindblown. haha
I'm playing the ending of Kasane's route and my mind has like a bomb in it
Completed Chapter 1 in RDR2 yesterday
The shooting is pretty good, better than GTA V's paintball mechanics
Guess the game really opens up in the second Chapter
I like the division 2 for all my shooting
mfw I'm dying in battlefront campaign
ngl i don't want silksong yet
haven't gotten all the hk achievements, thanks pure vessel
It's an old ps2 game
I tried god hand when I was... idk 7?
The hand chopping scene haunted me
Haven't touched it since
tfw I haven't even cleared P4
not particularly
covenants give you various bonuses but many of them are PVP-oriented
is this about dark souls? yeah
i actually made a list of all covenant effects some time ago.
the only important things you can only use while being in a particular covenant is the sunlight spear and the darkmoon blade, both miracles.
apart from that it really doesn't matter
Ah
nintendo direct is in 4 hours boys
it’s more like
Nintendo themselves put a timeline on their JP website
i’ll spoiler tag the leaks ofc
like game releases
Ohhh
|| new kirby game called kirby discovery of the stars and bayo 3 for 2022||
Were they all like indie games because I'm guessing they wouldn't y'know leak the big ones
😶
yeah maybe its best if i don't click that spoiler tag
wait was the entire thing leaked if so i will be severely disappointed
Yea
i like those games
Kirby best Nintendo character
Dang I shouldn't have clicked the spoiler tag without reading the previous conversation
but I wanna know what secrets the black box hides from me
dang, i wont be able to watch it because im going to be watching something else with a friend. im counting on everyone here to talk about everything that is happening so i can catch up :P
then again i dont have anything nintendo so maybe it wont really interest me. i just like watching gaming events lol
their consoles were able to give solid 60 back in 1980s
and yes, at this point idk what to expect.. maybe some news from the parallel universe about "we fixed joycon drift"
something that will make me actually buy switch over new laptop when im rich enough for that
Bruh RDR2 is comfy as hell
This and BOTW really did nail the cooking aspect even though I didnt like the latter as much
i'd watch the direct but like
i already know there's a very low chance i'd be interested in something and tbh i'd much rather just have a clear list of everything but that's not gonna happen
Yeah, idk what to expect as well, since, well, not really expecting anything right now
everyone i know is watching in the morning and all the sites that report it say only what they care about and i'm lazy and it's a mess
this is one of the reasons I regret owning a switch
The new big releases recently is, idk, Diablo 2 Resurrected, Eastward maybe
just how hard for is for nintendo to make new big games like they used to 😔
the big games are coming, just much later
HL3 will come out along with the Steam Deck
Maybe some new Metroid Dread stuffs, that probably the biggest stuff right now for Nintendo
you heard it here first
It's going to be midnight for me when the Direct airs, but I'm watching it live regardless.
Will probably also watch a couple of discussions afterwards.
I swear I think I heard this 2 years ago as well
Enhanced touch control and gyro aiming gameplay? Lmao
lol
Metroid Dread is cool and all but still doesnt feel as big to me as Prime 4
like the only games i've gotten all year are rise, stories 2 and miitopia
and unless something new comes up the only things holding my attention are danganronpa decadence and shin megami tensei v
so it's gonna take something big
I never was a fan of Metroid or platformers to begin with
How do you categorize "big games"? Mario Odyssey, SSBU, BotW, Bayonetta, Metroid Dread, Xenoblade,...
This
That’s about it
Dunno, Dread genuinely feels like a spin off to me
Those are the big ones
Maybe Im too much of a zoomie used to Prime trilogy
how
i categorise big games as 'the ones nintendo doesn't shut up about'
yea, Dread being 2D doesn't feel as big as Prime 4
Well hopefully it's as good as Fusion but doesnt feels the same like it
Just because a game is 2D, doesn't mean it's any less than a 3D one. Metroid started its life with 2D games.
I rather have an invincible threat ngl
The trailer implies Dread has one of those invincible enemies to run away from
That’s the Dread, I think
Well, I hope it takes efforts to do that, rather than just needed a new weapon/upgrade to kill it lol
tfw Metroid ran away from 2d so far that direct sequel for the original series feels like spin-off
I mean I think this because for me 60 dollars must mean some real real important stuff in that game
Hopefully it has enough content
I always like getting my money's worth
my god i still haven't finished any games
i'm at a lot of comfy stopping points but :/
Depends what you’re going for in a $60 game. If it’s just gameplay time spent, well, they could still pad that with useless stuffs lol
Maybe it'd be fair for me to mention that I strongly prefer 2D gameplay over 3D gameplay. Just so everyone knows where I'm coming from when defending games like Metroid Dread.
Well I paid 40 dollars for RDR2 but damn it if I wasnt going to pay 60, it genuinely feels like it's worth that much
When talking about games and their prices, it’s hard to really quantify if a game is worth it’s price anymore these days. Gameplay time can be screwy, art is subjective, and pure enjoyment is different for different people
Mfw I unironically spent 60 dollars on Animal Crossing
Also Im really skeptical about fully priced games because of Borderlands 3
I got the super deluxe edition for 38 euros, sale from 100 but I still feel like I was ripped off
Speaking of 2D games. Anyone tried Diablo 2 Resurrected?
My brother can't get into the game, server issues.
I suposse it's probably like the original one but no way Im giving money to AB, I never did and never will
Blizzard and launch server issues...
Borderlands always feels to grindy to me, enemies feels too spongy and quests are kinda repetitive as well. Not to mention enemy respawning. I get that it is a looter shooter and that’s how looter shooters goes, but I’m probably just need to play a proper shooter instead of Borderlands
I grew up with it I got a lot of bias about the series but damn it if it aint dead
Typical Blizzard launches, wait for a patch or maybe wait just a few more days until launch hype is down
Yeah, I told him to be patient. Same thing happened with D3 when that launched.
I like the gunplay, it’s good, but most of everything else, isn’t very fun for me unfortunately. Like I’ve said, probably should be playing a more traditional shooter instead
The only FPS games I ever liked were Half Life and BioShock. It's a genre that rarely works for me.
This reminds me how stuck some people get in the Half Life series kek
The more recent shooters I’ve played were Apex and PUBG. BR are a doozy these days, but when I was still very invested in them, I did have my own fair share of fun playing them
this reminds me i never even finished half life, it was so painful to play lol
Good fun, but of course, hype dies down over time
I've played HL2 and sequels, but not the original
Black Mesa is a remake of the original one, go try that
I didn't like HF2 half as much as the original. Half Life was something truly special.
Got Valve’s blessing, if I heard correctly
The original one's problem is the bullet spongy enemies
(never use the MP5 against HECU
But I played a ton of it, Opossing Force and Sven Coop
i've played all of them and many mods for original.. still have some mods for hl2 and portal in backlog, and i clearly understand why people love them
I know the whole game layout, if that's something Im supossed to be proud of
yea, probably gonna play Black Mesa at some point; it's just that FPS games are lowest on my list of preferred genres
somehow even with limited possibilities of hardware of that time they've managed to make a pretty immersive world
speaking of Valve they did a big update to CSGO
No more Dust2 T mid camping
I dont know if that's good but I'll let you see for yourself
Yes, it was very impressive for that time. Especially the way it told its story through pure gameplay wasn't seen before.
well, guess people who play same map over and over for years now have to actually think how to win
(no offence lol players)
yeah true
hahah
Also yeah Im tired of Mirage and Dust2
Btw they just added a new hostage map called Insertion 2 which is brilliant
also the riot shield from danger zone which is truly annoying but cool
(ignore the russian kid)
yeah, R6 siege is something
Nahhh shields were a thing back in CS1.6
although you had a pistol with it
The shield's really gonna change the meta
(just like the revolver, then get nerfed to be useless af)
E3 was all "games releasing in 2021" then botw 2 was shown
righttttt I dont have hopes for that one
Yeah... his chances are very, very low.
i'm still somewhat expecting Sora
My man
If Kingdom Hearts wasn't so intertwined with Disney, Sora probably would have gotten into the game a long time ago.
yeah, i feel like the involvement with Disney is what might be a dealbreaker in Sora coming to Smash
Sora is a Disney Character
everyone will be a disney character, just give it some time
me: so the Nintendo Direct just... Announces more directs?
chat mate: it's the Nintendo Indirect
prob bc they know its stuff people are gonna ask about so theyre like "yes we know you want this but this will be later"
mario movie cast broke my tl
BAYO IS BACK
no want chr*s "mario" pr-tt
new design 😳
sorry forgot to censor his name 😔 😔 😔 😔
xD
that whole voice cast is like a prime example of why voice acting becoming "hire the most well known actors to make this as prestigious as possible" is awful for animated films and why we need to bring back using talented voice actors
im TIRED of this!
i cant believe mr mario signed off on this, please
apparently jack black is in it and i'm not complaining there but damn I wish modern day voice acting wasn't cast like this
Seth Rogan is neither CGI nor makeup
It's Seth Rogan doing monkey noises and no character questions it
Like Seriously
Martinet has been doing an excellent job for literal decades
There is few VA I trust more with their iconic character as I do with Martinet and the Mario Cast
project triangle might get on my "look out for sale" list
OP was solid
So I hope it is too
But I really hope Project Triangle is a Placeholder name
its just called triangle strategy now, they dropped the "project" part
man I wish they'd de-normalize the $60 price
well, games do be expensive
to make
it'd be nice if all games were like, $40 USD
So, A friend is playing Sable and he's telling me the game is very good
but I can't see that happening anytime soon
So I'll definitively buy it in the future
but have they become 1.5 times more expensive than previous years
hello and welcome back to the Fashionably Late Show with Go Kart Man
on tonight's episode: the Nintendo Direct
||the casting for the Mario movie is not great
N64 Online is no good
3D Kirby is great
I give the presentation a 7.5/10||
I don't know
God the NSO
pisses me off so much
no fixing any of NSO’s current problem
Just “more money for n64 and sega genesis”
but considering that they have to hire people to write the games, code the games, then they have to do all this motion capture technology, which will take a long time
they also have to make it look realistic because every single video game ever made has to look like the outside world or it is immediately terrible
it's an expensive endeavor
also the hollow knight discord went insane after the direct was over
i simply think that games who charge full price AND include microtransaction systems in their games (for anything ranging from loot to boosted exp and any other such things) should not be full price. yeah making games is expensive and most reasonable people do not argue otherwise. but to charge a premium price for your product and then have the nerve to add in additional monetary features "just in case" people them is in fact scummy, full stop. no one adds monetary features just as a side extra, they are there with the expectation that people out there WILL pay for them. doesn't matter that you don't have to buy them if you don't want to, and often times games are built around the monetary features. gestures back at shadow of war and how the game had to be entirely rebalanced when they removed microtransactions because, surprise! the game was balanced around the existence of monetary features and was far too grindy without them
"tatz how is this relevant" because a lot of high profile games anymore charge full price AND have this junk in them and i'm beyond tired of it. dlc and proper expansions is one thing but this other stuff... nah. screw your pricing model
oh yeah
haha 66% of things listed "bad"
Ill give it a 7.5/10
maths
I dislike that roo
well there are a lot of better things
I just forgot them
fair, it was just silly reading it hahaa
yeah
I really have no respect for studios that do things like that
but I was kind of envisioning something like uh...
Spider-Man 2 or God of War: Ragnarok
take: games that charge 60+ should not have paid DLC, no excuses
The Hollow Knight Fandom now is a giant wheel that cycles the Five Stages of Grief Over and Over
there still are games like gow, spiderman, horzion ect that are pretty much standalone. but fighting games will always have dlc, between color palattes and new characters to keep the game relevant for more than 6 months. its not ideal, but thats a fact of gaming life now, and its not going anywhere
Sports games have it the worst
sports games indeed the worst
but its like, also, how many hours you gonna put into a single player? like realistically. games like destiny have players wtth literal thousands of hours. i cant imagine putting more than 150 into the very best single player games, ever. UNLESS some other dlc comes out to bring me back to it.
one exception being hades lol, im at like 400 on that, and come back to it every few weeks without fail
yeah, i suppose the exceptions would mostly be run based games/ but a linear story, or even open world game, its like, once you burn through the content, there isnt TOO much to draw you back if youve platinumed it and gotten and done every single thing
like i remember when the first infamous came out. i played that game to death. got every trophy. cleared 100% of everything. and after i hit that 100%, sure i may fire it up for 30 min here and there to enjoy a fun mechanics game, but after that 100% completion, im more or less done with it
There's nothing wrong with that though
that being said im not excusing loot boxes and xp buffs or pay to win mechanics.
but paid dlc isnt inherently bad. day 1 dlc, BAD. but down the road, to keep the game alive? not bad.
i’m fine with day 1 dlc as long as it’s free
like kirby star allies on launch kinda sucked
they did actually fix it later on with free updates
also ngl
paid DLC is ok on like, $20-40 games if it's a good, healthy chunk of content, paid DLC on a USD $60 game is
mobile games are easily at fault for microtransactions
yee
when companies realized they could squeeze more money from consumers that way it was over
also off topic but disney + is thinking about adding ads
so, youd rather be done with a game forever after you put your 45hrs into it as opposed to getting another 20hrs out of it 6months later for 15 bucks?
ill cancel the day they implement that. its already meh thb.
aside from like 3 things all its content is elsewhere
yeah.
in the paid plan?
or a seperate plan?
especially if the 20 bucks was content that was free in a previous iteration of the game
lmao. that may be the silliest thing ive ever heard. but hey to each their own.
Probably paid knowing how scummy they can be
like?
And so all this is malleable," he concluded. "Again, it’s soft clay right now. And we are very pleased with what we are seeing with addressable advertising on Hulu."
The CEO reiterated being "really happy" with the service's current model, but noted, "that doesn’t say that in the future, we might not look at different opportunities for an increased level of addressable advertising across our platforms."
So whatever it’s like on Hulu they’d probably do
im not talking rereleases im talking new games ie gow. if gow added a 20 dollar expansion to get me a reason to play it more, that is only good.
What's the point of asking a question if all you're gonna do is disparage the response that's not what you're expecting
they pretty much asked a rhetorical question
it was basically rhetorical
The only "good" "DLC" I've experienced is WC3 TFT, a full game that added to the base story with new mechanics and the same amount of playtime
Fallout new Vegas has good DLC
or frozen wilds in horizon. how is that anything other than a great thing to get you playing a previously great game you may have finished a year ago? (also rhetorical)
So a question that is snark, dressed up as an open discussion. Alright.
especially since, with Spider-Man Remastered and the GotY Editions of Spider-Man, it's free
yikes, eh sah sensitive. also, thats literally the definition of a rhetorical question lmao. its a thing.
I think dlc that’s just skins or whatnot feels like it belongs in f2p games
well, if you interpreted it like that, you have no one to blame but yourself? I think?
if you're still harping about this, I blocked both of you so save your breath.
yeah I should go now
did I get blocked or...?
I'm not meaning to be snarky or anything
genuine question
Oh and if a 60 USD game has only 45 hours of playtime, it's already a scam
who even wants a conversation with someone who pouts when you raise a point about their flawed logic
okay yeah I'm gonna go before things get out of hand and I piss more people off
have a great day gamers and remember to look both ways before crossing the street
how dare you tell me what to do, BLOCKED
lol jk
yeah I know
you especially gotta look both ways before crossing that street
I'm going to go with not minding DLC if it's stuff that wouldn't have been made otherwise
but back on track of dlc. I found 6 or 7 dollar dlc that added vergil to one of my favoite games dmc5 and basically got me to reinvest 100% of my initial play time to be an amazing thing man. idk how someone could hate on it, but again, to each their own
games should try to be complete experiences on release. what gets bad is if the dlc is planned to be the conclusion of parts of the game because they couldn’t finish the game in the original production cycle
You can say FFXV, it's okay
@tribal lotus that i understand fully. they sell a fractured product and then sell you part of what shouldve been in it in the firstplace. but im more talking about games that give you a full package. they rock. then 6 months to a year later, they sell you additional content to get you more play time out of it, ie frozen wilds
i dont inherently think paid dlc is a bad thing but at the same time i come from a time where paid dlc in games were often pretty hefty expansions that added on a lot of content to th ebase game. like. yknow. brood war for starcraft lol. stuff like that i have no problem paying for. its the things that are a bare minimum job and barely add anything to the experience that, yeah, im not paying for that
It's funny because like
Paid DLC should either have no mechanical effect, or add big acrual content
The extremes of the scale are fine, but the middle sucks lol
the paid dlc that infuriates me is like blazblue and guilty gear charging 11 dollars for 3 additionall color pallates. that kind of stuff should be unlockable ingame
yeah that's why I said my model for good DLC was WC3 TFT which was practically another game
its exra annoying to be because you cant really say its pay to win or anyhting, "its just cosmetics" which is a valid statemnt., but it bothers me deeply haha
remember when we used to b able to unlock things like cheat codes and alt colour palettes just from playing games and didnt have to pay for that sort of stuff 🥲
also I don't think RoC costed the equiv of 60 USD even adjusting for inflation
man those WC3 cheat codes. And people nowadays complain about easy modes.
the "just cosmetic" argument bothers me bc like. if its "just cosmetics" then why does every company choose to lock cosmetics behind paywalls anymore? because they know that people want to look different, good for you if cosmetics arent important to you personally but they are to a lot of people and companies are well aware of that
yeah it was discussed in Fortnite convos wrt kids feeling left out if they only had the default skin
theres literally been reports of kids being bullied in school by their peers bc they didnt have valuable cosmetics lol
I remember the days of wanting to smash my ps1 and burn my house down trying to unlock cyber akuma in some mvc type game. had to beat the game on ultra hard, and the computer could read inputs and just neo from the matrix you. as an 11 year old, that did not sit well with me lmao
yeah the cosmetics thing is the main thing ruining destiny 2 right now.
Bullies gonna be bullies they'll find literally ANYTHING to bully you over
I think it was battleon premium in my elementary school days, though it was more
"wow cool skin"
"yeah it's premium only"
"oh boo"
F2P was the norm
youre not wrong but theres zero reason to add fuel to the fire. cosmetics are inherently seen as a status symbol and this is true of many games
actually thinking about it, that's why they market cosmetics now. They don't want people to feel like F2P is the norm
used to be able to earn it all, literally ALL of it in game, then they added the real money store being the only way to get 50% of the cool stuff. then 80%. now its basically 100%, and the only cool stuff that comes with the season changes are in that store, and the stuff that comes with the season outside that store is literal trash
Remember when Horse Armor was a meme?
How innocent we were back then
How. Innocent.
like... i did my 4-5 years of primal carnage or whatever, and cosmetics in that game literally were a status symbol. the rarest skins were hundreds of dollars on the marketplace and owning one had people flooding you with requests to trade and stuff. games that build up economies around cosmetics usually tend to gravitate towards rarer/higher quality cosmetics being a sort of icon in that game's community
to be fair, kids bully kids regardless. if it wasnt about cosmetics, it would be about their dorky shoes, or too short handmedown pants, or getting free lunches at school, bad haircuts, smelling bad ect. bullying isnt going anywhere. at least about cosmetics in a game isnt even a tangable thing.
That was 2006 which in Internet years it's The Napoleonic Wars
to be fair, kids bully kids regardless
youre not wrong but theres zero reason to add fuel to the fire. cosmetics are inherently seen as a status symbol and this is true of many games
lets not excuse this as "well kids bully other kids anyway" because that gives off major "oh boys will be boys!" vibes to excuse awful things that shouldnt be a thing but continue to be a thing bc people just pass it off as a norm
i mean, i dont disagree. but agian IF bullying was an inevitablilty, id rather get picked on for my character not looking cool, but having the possibility of being better than them at the game. vs for being poor or short or something you have NO control over and is real life situations. its not good, and shouldnt be excused. but if its gonna happen, id rather it be over some digital bs that means nothing
I am not passing it off as the norm, I'm just saying that Cosmetics have 0 to do with bullying, bullying is rooted much more than just some dumb skins, it's about kids perceiving power and using it to abuse their classmates
and saying, we just need to stop bullying, is not gonna happen. its like saying abstinence is the best form of birthcontrol. like, sure, in a perfect world that is true. but we are never gonna be there. unfortunately
My point is that without MTX you would stop exactly 0 cases of bullying.
Its main crime is creating addiction
there are literally games for kids, clubpenguinelikes, that have literally nothing to do in them but walking and talking and couple of simple miningames
this is valid
if you don't want to pay for cosmetics, which are thousands of
and guess what, ppl without any payed clothing are getting bullied, and not everytime mods seem to care
Just personally pay the developer to give you your own personal cosmetic
or just become a famous streamer that speedruns a specific indie game until inevitably you get your own skin in the game
it's happened before
roblox be like
Just become a famous streamer that makes your own indie game with all your desired skins
It’s happened before
it gets even better, bc sometimes mods do have unique skins that only devs can have
and it creates lot of envy and attempts of kids to become mods just to get those
man
i mean that’s not the fault of the devs
That’s the fault of people wanting to assert their higher status over others
So they stoop to “you didn’t pay for lines of code that simulate clothes in a video gaem”
they pretty much know that, and they don't seem to care
the "pay to pay" system is a thing now, not a joke
well, if a singleplayer game is not story-based, it can last for long. like, sandboxes or something
minecraft and terraria are not the only exceptions
and for that games DLCs usually ads lots of content to play with, sometimes enough to start a new save/world, but they can be interesting even without those
Some games have an hour cap and that's okay
I enjoyed games that lasted me 12 hours
which is fine, it's just.. question is, would you pay equally for 6-8 hours and 300 hours of gameplay
even if second is pretty repetative, but interesting nonetheless
it's not just about the amount of hours
yeah
Portal 1 and 2 were short, but count as one of my favorite gaming experiences
I'm on the side of "I'd rather have a short but fun game rather than a game that's worth it's price in length, but it's just boring"
yep, that's when we should mention added length just to make people play longer
i was just giving a vauge example of something like gow, which you can more or less 100% is 40-60, and basically get everyhing you want out of it. not that thats the gold standard number. but its like, you get however much time out of the base game. move to the next one becasue youve done everything you wanted to do, and then at some point down the road, a new dlc drops that lets you go back to it and play that game you loved with new content. thats only a good thing
grind walls and stuff
unless you're poor
and can't afford it
but no
you dont NEED that
if you have the base game, you got the full experience. ]
if down the road, you have the money, hey we got some extra for you\
if not, you had your meal, just skip the surprise dessert lol
if the new dlc is just NEW AXE SKIN FOR 10 green presidents, maybe then.. no
haha, thankfully im not poor, so if a favrite game got a dlc that added some actual new content, ill prolly get it.
but yeah if its the purple and black color of the same character skin or something, yeahhh, ill pass
remember skyrim, okay
and then there's R3MAKE where you have to pay like, $5 to get a stupid costume of Jill and Carlos with a worse haircut
honestly havent played it, but im thinking like, destiny 2. you got that new exotic gun? heres a 10 dollar skin that makes it silver instead of gold. GG bungie
never really played Skyrim
there were those horse armors alright, but there were also completely new stories with lots of mechanics with them
not a big RPG guy
im more jrpg myself
persona 5 and ff7remake were dope af fan of rpg or nah
i think, prices of dlc should be based on prices of base game and amount of content they add
if they add another 20 hours to 30 hour game of the same quality, then it's ok to charge 67% of the base game value for them
i get it, thats how i feel about the wow and auto chess style games. just, not appealing to me, in the least. cant explain it but it repels me haha
yeah
I think I really don't like those RPGs that have grinding
like, a lot of it
oop dinner's here I gotta go
see ya later
peace ooot
bon appeti
DID THEY?? or is that a hopeful non rhetorical question?

on the other.....

i cant watch now, g rank?
anyone know any *action cel shaded games like code vein, persona 5, ni no kuni, scarlet nexus, sao fatal bullet, genshin, demon slayer, tales series, etc?
astral chain
well it teased a new monster
and it killed rathy

wow this game looks pretty interesting
tried once, got a motion sickness from the mech flight movement rip
debating between M.A.S.S. Builder and ZONE OF THE ENDERS THE 2nd RUNNER
haha, thats a shame. such a fun game. armored core master of arena was one of my favorite ps1 games. and this gave me nistolgia haarrddd for that
2nd runner is cool, but plays horribly dated controls wise imo
good for nistolgia, rough for just coming into it honestly
the art style is pretty awesome though
aight thx ill remove it from my wishlist
i mean the game itself is worth playing tbh, its just clunky.
do u have any other mech games with modern graphics to recommend?
that looks sick tho tbh
ikr
also it seems like the PC release will be sunbreak altogether
REJOICE ALL WHO WAITED
FOR THINE SHALT HAVE MORE MONSTER THAN BASE
honestly, i cant really think of any
heck yeah. my steam deck will be waiting for sunbreak
shame that mecha as a genre is not too alive now
facts
aside from battletech and titanfalls
damn it I miss titanfall
theres those gundam arena fighters too i guess
I think gundam is its own thing lol
extreem boost versus or some absurd name like that haha
true. i was always an armored core kinda guy myself
but my favorite ac games were starting on ps1, then ps2 looked better, but i liked the faster paced ps1 games more, then they just got slower and slower and then it died on ps3. sad face
but I don't have the money and the price is pretty absurd. Also it's supposed to be played online, but I mostly play offline.... so nah
thats why i like daemon. its bascially a cell shaded ps1 style armored core. perfect game for me
i have one of them, that came out 2017-18ish. something with vs in the title. never really played it too much, but i got it in the backlog
i hear its pretty fun on fightstick, which i have a sweet one of those, so i may fire that gundam game up sooner than later
only gundam game i really spent any time with was battle assult 2. looovvveeedd that one
I remember vividly of armored core
im a 2d fighter fan. and it featured gundams from all the series to that point. it was amazing
AC was goat for mech stuff for a long while.
haha, my little brother probably has the same exact history with the series lmao
I actually remmeber him crying at several points
right, he was just a little guy, like 8 prolly. playing games at dads. and just getting steam rolled endlessly haha. had to be so unfun
as someone who hates losing, idk why he wouldve played hahaha
hey can you give me a link to one of those Discords?
The one i used was /spieltimes but it has for somereason expired for join links, but i told a few people in my clan for destiny about spieltimes and they said they followed their twitter, and all 3 of them got one within like 2 weeks
one of them was like 2 days later, from when they followed the twitter
thanks man!
GL playa! youll have it soon enough.
hopefully 🤞
getting a ping saying bestbuy is going live in 5 min is hard to beat
true
weird question but are there any games out there like the sims
okay so this is what Google is telling me
Two Point Hospital
House Flipper
My Time at Portia
Stardew Valley
Planet Zoo
Cities Skylines
and uh... GTA V?
my time at portia makes sense
asking this because... there's just so many things about sims 4 that could be better, some of which has been added or improved upon by mods, and at this point i'm wondering if any other companies ahve considered making a competing game
ah
not to the degree of the sims, no
not bad advice though. need to get back onto learning html
I learned my html from modifying tumblr themes
mine was neopets back in the day... and then i forgot everything lol. also neopets is doing nfts now
goodbye.
really shouldn't be laughing at that
but the neopets economy has been jank for some time 🤭
neopets joining nfts is a "disappointed but not surprised" situation
That’s exactly what I’m doing 😳
I lost a single HP at the last boss pogger
2nd look i actually lost 2
my day is ruined
Learnt HTML from Friendster and Myspace. Idk if you folks even knew what Friendster is
i've definitely heard of it!
please, I know what friendster is
honestly supergiant does attract a crowd that doesn't skew so young
Ah, I was mistaken then
It does feel that way. I'm nearly 20 and I often feel like that's closer to the lower end of the scale
I actually forgot that I'm actually 20ish
I feel like I’m the only 30-ish guy in here
aww! I know for sure that there's a few 30 year olds that are active in here. wanted to get my thirty something friend in the server but he doesn't like massive servers
anyway this is a convo for #off-topic-discussion
which I welcome
nope
Super Mario 64
Mario Kart 64
Star Fox 64
Yoshi's Story
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
WinBack: Covert Operations
Dr. Mario 64
Sin and Punishment
Mario Tennis 64
Interesting. Even though I emulated the crap of almost everything here
There’s the full list there
lemme guess you gotta pay more to get those?
It got Mario 64
You know, the game that was in a limited run late last year to earlier this year
I’m surprised people aren’t salty about this
I wouldnt because I can just emulate it
Also the switch emulation for that thing isnt even that good
also no DS content
So yeah why play the inferior version
I can see Gameboy games being on NSO. Any DS for it? No way
Not until 5 years later from now
That's what they get for ditching the dual screens
Although they can just uhjh
I dont know honestly, split the screen?
Well, the concept is easy, since the Switch looks like a Wii U gamepad already lol
But I imagine it will be too much work
Hope once the switch's lifetime is up, we go back to the dual screens
back to the true handheld
Tbh, I’ve had my time with a DS, and… it feels like gorilla hand syndrome. You’re juggling between two different control schemes, and while some games were awesome (TWEWY), some games were nightmares (FFXII Revenant Wings)
I rather flip those screens than just open normally a single screen
The best games that utilize the dual screens, are ultimately those that utilize it in simpler ways, like Pokémon or Fire Emblem
Dual screens are just cool!
Mom's back
dorime
A cult I'm gladly to be part in
i think i got all the info from the direct
ngl i'm suprised that there was actually actual news in it
i need to watch the sunbreak trailer at some point, and ngl i'm looking at bayonetta 3 because i hear it's one hell of a series

Is the same or different VA?
can't tell the diff honestly
I don’t believe so
That's a different VA but there's theories going around that that isn't Bayonetta proper
Which I'm hoping are true because otherwise her former VA got fired or wasn't asked to come back for some reason (probably union-related)
oh my yes please be good
Just hoping Joanna wouldnt look like some mid 2000's popular highschool girl that has the latest Blackberry model
(Although I like any ginger person)
Coming October 19 | Play the Demo on Steam: https://inscryptiongame.com
From the creator of Pony Island and The Hex comes the latest mind melting, self-destructing love letter to video games. Inscryption is an inky black card-based odyssey that blends the deckbuilding roguelike, escape-room style puzzles, and psychological horror into a blood-l...
Anyone here played Kena to give me their opinion?
Not a fan of her other designs but this got me.
I love.
BAYONETTA MY BELOVED
https://c.tenor.com/dKRtdaRixVAAAAAM/mob-psycho.gif
Bayonetta 3 confirmed via nvidia leak. POG
Anyone tried the Yoko Taro game demo already?
I mean we already knew bayo 3 news was coming
Nintendo themselves leaked that
The geforce now leaks happened before the direct Joker
In the same leak a silksong release date was apparantly also there
i did not lol
yea bayo3 was teased like a couple years ago wasnt it??
it was announced but no release window until now
1386 days without news
I have. Imagine Slay the Spire, with an RPG element to it instead of a roguelite
It even has it’s own blend of Gwent-ish game
The writing is fine, I like it. Game feels “slow” though, for lack of a better word
There’s so many animations and transitions with the cards, it feels like it overstayed it’s welcome
so... my copies of night in the woods and long gone days from itch unfortunately won't load on my laptop, so i'm gonna have to buy them elsewhere
I still got a feeling that ain't Bayo idk why
But hell I'm welcoming a new installment any time of the day
(Short hair Bayo best Bayo)
Some people theorize that is smol Cereza from bayo 1
But yes, short hair bayo best bayo
Mfw we still haven't gotten a western game with Ennio Morricone soundtrack
It hurts.
At least reuse some from his new films since he sadly can't do it anymore 😢
Holy guacamoley, the double barrel in RDR2 actually behaves like a real shotgun, and actually hits at longer ranges. Took a while to figure that out for game devs.
which game is that?
Voice of Cards: The Isle Dragon Roars is an RPG set in a world of swords and sorcery, told entirely through the medium of cards.
$29.99
Oct 28, 2021
oh it's a card game? i'll pass 😦
Finished the Demo, cool but VERY easy given it's a tutorial
The moment in the Direct I heard the music I was like 'Oh, damn it's Taro'
Also more like Card game it feels like a RPG/DND game card themed
It’s kind of weird to see a yoko taro game rated 7 by pegi
is it truly a yoko taro game if it doesn't make you question the entire meaning of your existence
It definitely looked like "what if we took a top-down RPG and replaced the pixels with cards" and tbh I'm kinda here for that
It's actually promising although the menu is insufferable
As in adjusting your settings is unbearably slow
Yeah, I blame the transitions
Yep and the fact EVERYTHING is in their own tab
Why do you have to do three clicks to go from Adjust music sound to Adjust voice sound?
Every legend has a beginning. Welcome friend, to the world of Arcane. Watch the first official trailer for Arcane now, coming to Netflix November 6.
Learn more about Arcane - https://arcane.com
poggie
beat u to it in #tv-and-movies
oh lul
I finally beat dead cells
Beaten a run? Or 5BC?
5BC
Kinda funny cause when something is relevant two two media channels I never know what put it first
Specially cause ebven if it's a Show, LoL is much more relevant for the people of this channel
i put it in tv bc even though it is set in the world of runeterra, its still a show
and discussion pertaining specifically to arcane should go there, not here in video games
also you dont need to be a fan or player of league to watch arcane
Right, then
are you a gamer if you don't play league?
Wow RDR2 is truly well tied together to RDR1
Like I never played the first game but it feels like they knew they will make a prequel sometime
I wonder how Jack Marston's life after RDR1 was
just wait until the sudden twist in act 2 where the cards start to question their own existence and change or something
at the end you have to set an actual deck of cards on fire to get the best ending
That card had a FAMILY
and still no tarot puns?
oof, im not even gonna read the past posts. but somebody mustve derailed this vg channel hard to be dead for 4 hrs lmao
Just you wait till the day after tomorrow
I guess it would be foolish to make bad tarot puns
Two very anticipated games gonna come out that day
against my better judgement, I tend to make bad puns
contrary to popular belief, this server is not continually active at all hours of the day despite the amount of people here. the portion of consistently active users is quite small. no chat in a channel, even in this one, for a few hours is normal
And let's be honest. We all run out of things to talk
It also comes in bursts
We can have hundreds of messages in like a full hour and once every person has said their piece complete Silence
i've peeked into the Hollow Knight server, and it's always going: new messages in several channels 24/7. i kind of like how quiet this server is by comparison: makes it easier to join in and participate
from what ive seen it seems to also have more members, but i could be wrong. im not in it
To be fair Silksong is always around the corner
yeah, the HK discord also houses the speedrunning community too
it's a very differant atmosphere in that discord
Shame what happened to the Speedrun communities
Hopefully Valve reverses their stance
about twice as many online there right now as there are here, so you're right
downpatching is hard af now
and a lot of the categories downpatching is optimal for HK speedrunning
Last Steam beta introduced an important change to game downloads.
With this change, it is no longer possible to download older game versions, because client asks for a code (GetManifestRequestCode) that rotates every five minutes.
201
601
Yep, it affects TONS of games
that's unfortunate. may make games less accessible overall (?)
For a casual gamer it won't be a problem 99% of the time
the 1% would be for example when EU4 completely broke down when Leviathan released
still lowers the amount of accessibility which sucks overall even if only 1% use it
But for the Speedrun community Oh Boi
yeah, 🤞 steam doesn't implement it in the live client
Anyone else proud of riot???
omg
they started off as an indie company ... and look at them now, they have animated shows now. Riot is such an inspiration
Im so happy for them
proud is not necessarily the term i would use bc of Controversies but at the same time that is an entire other discussion about the industry as a whole
i will simply say that i like the move to doing other things with their lore because the moba format is frankly garbage for expanding lore
now if only we could get news about ruined king
https://www.riotgames.com/en they have updated their site since they're doing that client update soon
AND they list ruined king and convergence, which im surprised they still remembered was a thing at all since we havent heard from that in ages either https://gyazo.com/3aa112db314988246e9b82bf9deade2d
so maybe something will happen... eventually..................
i just want ruined king to release already so i can have like a miss fortune emote on steam or something 😔 throw me a bone man
Riot probably graduated from the indie class a while ago. At least they definitely don't give out the indie vibe to me.
I like a decent amount of their contents and I think League is a good game (we are not talking about the player base here). They have had their fair share of questionable practices but I generally support them, the same way I "support" Ubisoft or CDPR - playing the stuff that I like, no more, no less.
Now if only they can get Ruined King off the ground so we have actual "indie" titles through Riot Forge.
Doesn't Hollow Knight have QoL mods that can patch speedrun friendly feature-bugs back anyway
