i've been getting back into bloons recently

I like to draw a similarity here, I love this game called Cossacks European Wars. It is a mediocre RTS game and you probably haven't heard it. But it has a special place in my heart because it was my first true online experience.
I remember figuring out GameSpy (now that's a name you haven't heard in a while) by myself and got completely dumbstered by my opponent. I didn't know English back then so all I couldn't express myself while playing. Yada yada, you know how nostalgia stories go.
The point is, it was special for me.

Back to art, sometimes, art is special because it means something to someone. Being mainstream doesn't take away its value. Mona Lisa got famous not only because of its artistic value but mostly because it was stolen and got retrieved. People wanted drama, then so be it. Art, to me, doesn't have to start out bring impressive or crazy technique-heavy to be good (not that Mona Lisa isn't). It just needs to draw you in, for whatever reason. The same way I like Cossacks European Wars, because it was special to me, not because it was a particularly good franchise.

Like in Hades, the enemies and characters aren't 3D models in-game, they're animated in 3D, and rendered from each angle, saved as 2D images. I can't attach files or I'd have just showed an image, that woulda been easier lol

I see, I can think of a couples, Darkest Dungeon does this. Enter the Gungeon kinda does this (it's actually 3D but it's purposefully made to look 2D with sprites)

technically most 2D games with pixel graphics have sprites like those but I am assuming that's not what you are referring to.

I mean sprites that are made by taking pictures of 3D models, that's probably a better description

oh then idk. Hades uses its own proprietary engine to do this so I am not sure if there is any other game that does the same

some fighting games like Dragon Ball Fighter Z used 3D models and then kinda 2D-ized the model but not literally taking pictures of it like Hades.

I have been playing the CRAP out of Gunfire.

No problems with movement, getting a speed-up happens way more often than not. Some platforming can be a little sketchy, but if Doom Eternal can win action GOTY awards despite being 35% first-person platforming, Gunfire can more than get away with it.

Haven't played Dead Cells yet. I think they did something similar, but the game does it live. It's kind of like anime fighting games where they are 3D models, with an applied filter/shaders to give a 2D look

Dead Cells was modeled and animated in 3D then in post process down scaled into pixels.
