um.. AC:NH counts?
are collections allowed?
the irony, but yes
depends on the collections?
I would say something like megaman zero collection is fine?
prolly orange box...?
i'm thinking about Ark survival evolved as well
game gets too dark at night
Assassin's Creed: New Hampshire?
||Yes I know it's Animal Crossing||
probably some kind of Sea of Thieves, idk
i haven't played conkers bad fur day yet
so maybe rare replay...?
ooh
hades
how could i forget
Ys VIII
how long is it?
that answers the question actually
even longer if you do as much as you can
Also depending if you can play with tears in your eyes
tsk tears...
it's a jpeg game huh
i'm calling visual novels that from now on
no it';s a Jfif
at first i thought about tears as lacerations
Do I look like I know what a JPEG is? A ͩ̔͒Ȃ̋̾n͌͒̓ ͤ̃̾j̀͛̚p͑̽ͤe͒̈́ͥĝ̈ͬ ͪͣ̚҉̦͍͉t̍̋͗h͆̍̚a̅̐̎ťͧ̈́҉͖̼͠
one game that made me cry like a baby was Yakuza
Zestiria, a little
Dark Souls
Worst game I played and finished was alone in the dark for Wii
well thanks there goes my answer
I'M THE LIGHT BRINGER
you don't even play it lmao
Iron Man, a game from 1998 made in 2009
I heard Berseria was better, but something about the character designs of the last 3-4 games has really rubbed me the wrong way.
but prolly something like hotel mario
Haven't played anything since Xillia 2.
lol Hotel Mario
Ooh, maybe Black Ops 3 on PC.
sonic 06
good ol Sonic 06]
sunless sea and middle earth shadows of war are both disappointing though
oof, at some point i wanted to buy ps3 specially to play it
I also finished Resonance of Fate which was eh
yes, i know it's bad, but still
Although I don't regret to finish it
I think my two hottest takes are that Dark Souls and Bayonetta aren't good.
there's a fifty shades of grey game i want to play
Oh, man.
it's prolly pretty bad
I watched the end of Shadow of War, and wow.
The rest of the game better have been stellar.
I wanna play more hot garbo games
baolan wonderland (?)
I enjoyed the games even if they used Tolkien's worldbuilding as toilet paper
THAT BEING SAID there is something that I admire about them
a popular one is ride to hell retribution
oh yes especially that one
I am aware
Well, not even speaking narratively, the end of Shadow of War is boss/miniboss spam and they all heal themselves to full when you kill them.
what are those?
like the ones not hilariously bad, but have just enough hook to drag you in
and never ever deliver
there are bad games, that you can still enjoy, and good games which you absolutely hate
Tolkien's message about Absolute power corrupts absolutely is well represented in it and the game pulls no punches about how the protagonist quest is doomed from the start
Hades is bad
/ban @polar dragon

The entire server is just a huge inside joke that Hades is good.
There is this ps3 game a friend of mine haf
(bonk)
I hated it with all my soul
It was unironically the ugliest game with relatively good graphics I've seen
Time & Eternity
https://youtu.be/ssJ7Lxmb_6E?t=1278
......just look at it
Wir haben für euch mal Time & Eternity angespielt und dies in diesem unkommentierten Gameplay Video festgehalten.
Review: http://germangameroom.de/review/lesen/94/time-and-eternity-ps3-review/
Danke an Indigo Pearl und NIS America für die freundliche Bereitstellung... :)
Webseite: http://www.germa...
oh god it's "family friendly japanese film"
okay maybe not
the box art was a tad suggestive
2d characters living in a 3d space is uncanny, man
oh Ihave that game
poor plant dude, being kicked for no reason
that frame rate though
i've always thought that 3d is 2d's biggest enemy
3D CG in anime has gotten way better
i can weep about it
Get one last peak at The 3rd Birthday before its release.
tbh
I loved the 3rd Birthday unironically
narrator sounds like a prozd impersonator
whee, tentacles
IT KINDA DOES LOL
🥺 partial nudity
I played it as a teenager and Aya Brea definitely was something, especially with all the fan service.
vimmnet i go!
Still love it though. Confusing story with mediocre gameplay
so typical Square Enix kinda stuff then
yeah, still love it somehow. maybe just a nostalgia thing

maybe
the download just went backwards
actually looks like a normal game from ps3 era
from 38.2 to 0.0
wew
for a certain market
now it's not downloading
Oh no.
geesh
download the 3rd birthday and let me know what you think
I saw that Time and Eternity game, read the "hand-drawn sprites" and was not expecting that.
yessir
There is also the holy trinity of games I've spent much longer I want to admit playing:
APB Reloaded, Gunz and S4 League
they need more frames
at least, they were not lying
a lot more
It's anime. those never run at high framerates lmao
Boy I LOVED S4 League
?
guess, back then there was no such software
ah
S4 League?
or it was too expensive
Street 4
Yeah read my former comment
oh I thought Season 4 League of Legends
Lol no
I want a Hollow Knight length/size game that looks like Mega Man X4.
I miss those sprites.
I want a challenging Pokemon game with a deeper strategic layer, not just more grinding.
i just want more games of megaman genre
I've heard of many romhacks in that vein, Fox.
not just clones
Mighty Number 9
might exist somewhere

Nexomon extinction
Rokko-chan rules tbh
I'm waiting to play it, though, gonna wait for at least the whole campaign if I buy it in EA.
but out of the setting i can remember only Shovel Night having some similarities
It's anti grinding as the enemy levels are ALWAYS balanced around yours
That game forced me to create a balanced team
idk on one hand i actually like crushing enemies through being stupidly overpowered, thats part of the fun
if game allows it, then why not
that's the only good part about swsh
yeah that looks interesting
I might check it out
being lvl 85 in the champion battle was pretty cool
The bosses also truly felt like bosses as they were ridiculously op but balanced around a 6vs1
Animal Crossing
Already said :p
Harvest Moon
my dad has like 8000 hours in a civilisation game
oh my
so it begins
I'm sold
and he only has half of the achievements
By the way it's a sequel but the first one is not that balanced. But don't worry the game was designed around most people NOT playing the first one (it's set hundred of years in the past)
yeah it's fine, ill circle back to the first one if I enjoy this one enough
though the premise seems awesome so far
Yeah something I also liked is that there is an starter for each type
Something pokemon seems not have gotten the memo :p
i said he's a casual. plus sometimes he does just leave it on while he works outside.
yeah it seems like pokemon, but without the annoyances
ahh
50% of those are prolly legit hours
hehe
still impressive imo
mhm
anything above like 250 hours is pretty impressive ||and sad||
nothing
Looks at my 1100 hours at siege
picture or it didnt happen
250 hours is kinda low no?
HAHAHAHAHAHHA
I mean for replayable games
ahh doggo you're a hoot
Ok
I played XBC2 for like 200 hours
wew
what's a tiempo?
time
Playtime
ah
chat, pick one, C9 or TL?
doesn't matter if you don't know what that means
i vote for C9
both of them
C9 it is then
i'm going to regret i haven't voted for TL, 100% sure
can you tell us what they mean now?
it was just the 2 finalists for the LCS
and C9 just won game 5 in a BO3 very convincingly
it was a joy to watch
I said it before but competitive League is fun to watch if you know what's going on
it's like any sport, really
ah
mostly yes, but teamfights are beyond my comprehension
so many things happening in such a short period of time
yeah, that's true. but now we have replays and what not so it's easier to follow
it's been a good 6 years since i've played league. what's happening is beyond my comprehension
I think it's mostly just the general vibe of seeing who dies and who lives.
I have been watching for a while and I don't catch everything either
oh cloud 9 and team liquid
I just watch hp bars drowning
yup
draining*
it's a hunt for the ADC and midlaner in teamfight
seeing which team's crucial targets go down first.
oki starting 3rd birthday
you can be unclothed...?
how mature...?
17+
i don't think i'm supposed to be playing this
tbf it's mild
it said partial nudity
FBI is coming for you
lets keep it clean folks, this doesnt seem like a game you should really so much as be mentioning here
aye aye
man ppsspp has had so much effort put into it
the games gameplay so far seems a bit braindead and repetitive but i'll play it more later tonight to see if it gets better. i've only played the first mission.
Dw Still a good choice
that looks like sugimori art
Attack on Burgers
Yep! It's like watching a medieval drama
there's a lot of quotes i like from that game. very fun to say
Wishlist on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1104280/The_Slormancer/
Warning: This trailer features some content will only become available in later updates.

The Slormancer is an epic 2D Action-RPG Dungeon Crawling game following a band of outcasts on their fight against hordes of enemies lead ...
One of my favorite quotes:
are not chattel! We are humans, no less than you! What flaw do you hold there
to be in us? That we were born between a different set of walls? Do you know
what it means to hunger? To sup for months on naught but broth of bean? Why
must we be made to starve that you might grow fat? You call us thieves, but it
is you who steal from us the right to live!```

League music has some bangers
I mean it's just Imagine Dragons and K-Pop
As well as a not too bad metal album
imagine dragons is league music?
League music isn't just some compilation of dubsteps and "gaming" music
it's collaboration with various bands
Warriors by Imagine Dragons is one such collab
really
The battle begins, and sixteen teams across the globe are fighting towards one goal – to win the League of Legends World Championship. To kick off the start of the action, we set out to craft a war cry to rally behind. Whether you’re a solo queue warrior or fighting off the LCS jitters – every moment counts.
"Warriors" -- a creative collaborati...
Yup
it's the official theme song for competitive tournament in 2014
recently it's quite kpop heavy
I mean I like watching Genshin Impact trailers
doesn't mean that I will ever play or like the game
wait no that's a different song
but league isn't a genre
but yeah, not a "genre"
that's why i found it funny
or michelle obama
My brother once tried to give me some garbage like that. He asked for gamer music, I put on an Armored Core OST, and I'm told it's not what League players listen to on streams and is therefore not "gamer music."
there's this really gamer music band called gorillaz. they make really good gamer music ;)
I mean what the streamers listen to on stream is different from this playlist lmao
I highly doubt them "hardcore gamers" listen to kpop for their "intense" sessions.
this is literally just a playlist of League (Riot Games, really) and various artists collab.
whoooooo careeeesssss what music you listen to when you play video games, just put on some stuff you enjoy, don't worry so much about what music other people have going when they stream
anyway the spotify ai thing called me out for listening to too much league music bc they are indeed bangers, warsongs was a good album. I don't really like playing music over games unless it's smth i can play a bit more passively like a card game or whatever tho cause like. a vidya takes most of my available attention span and music makes it harder for me to focus </3
Generally speaking I prefer in-game music, it tends to gel much better with the action because it's intended to, you know?
Like, I could put on something super heavy for the final boss in Hades, but the current track not only already shreds, but it was designed from the ground-up to go with the fight.
hades is very much not a passive game for me lol something i actively have to devote more focus to im unlikely to play music over. i can't even type while i have music going in the background because it destroys my train of thought. that's why i only play music over something lighter that i can shift attention away from more easily rofl
Yeah I'm the same way
i wanted to mention neat battle music in games but that sort of topic should probably move over to #music while this shifts back to games specifically lol anywho i miss pokemon conquest, i'll be back later
Meanwhile, in Mass Effect 3 MP or a game like League, I absolutely have my own playlist because either the music is waaay too sparse and it leaves gaps that feel weird or the music just isn't very good in the first place.
tbh it fully depends on the game for me
like, if i'm playing a rougelite then i like audio cues and usually the soundtracks slap anyways
if i'm om pmd (or other turn-based games) then there's nothing to stop me listening to something else but there's a 60% chance the theme slaps
if i'm deviant farming on mhgu then i will not listen to it as the deviant theme is bad for a number of reasons. i'll take these hellblades silent, thank you very much
yeah honestly this.
Isaac, Hades, Risk of Rain, Darkest Dungeons all knocked it out of the park in term of soundtracks.
i play those with podcast running on background but that just me
if I'm playing to progress the story, then obv I focus on the in-game audio all the way.
If I'm just grinding out side quests or beating up jobbers, I'll listen to a podcast
i only ever play music over games whose soundtracks aren't really memorable or add to the experience (and sometimes ror2)
like slay the spire I'm definitely listening to some other music
Fast paced games list?
furi
wipeout
Speaking of platinum games
I was fairly hyped with their new game
...then found out it's apple arcade exclusive
My phone's android
Hyper Light Drifter.
I'd like to say that FIFA 15 released on the PS2.
is Darksiders Genesis good?
Nice
Yh only platinum games I haven't played is Vanquish
I'm trying to remember a game.
It's first person shooter and the guy can shift time.
He jumps only to the past state and present state of something
timesplitters? driver: san francisco?
titanfall 2?
Quantum League?
Singularity?
that has to be it
idk, time shifting is a main part of it, but protagonist can't travel freely at any time
but can make things old or new
titanfall 2 is closer, but it's only a chapter
which is a shame
gotta say naming my character Ayaya must have been one of my smartest move
Ayaya?
Ayaya.
what's an ayayayayayayyayya
sounds like the hook to that song "rooster"
"Here they come to snuff the rooster,
AYAYAYAYYAYYAYA"
"No, he ain't gonna dieeeeAYAYAYAYA"
disco aztec playing in the background
Portal
lol I'm late to the 'do you mute music in games you play or not' but I do it almost never
One time I really disliked an RPG battle song but it was the one that played the most so I replaced it in the game files instead of muting
... but in that game I also muted a certain boss theme not because I disliked it but because I was nostalgic for the old one lmao
I mute Pokemon (and now Nexomon) music during my playthrough because it can get repetitive
I think that's a special occasion though cause that battle theme pissed me off really bad for some reason
I feel like a lot of JRPGs with some grind elements can be muted
Otherwise I only mute things when I'm actually tired/overloaded and I want to play but all sounds irritate
Non-voice acted Fire Emblem games also fall into this catergory
(but then again I've been muting Ys VIII an alarming amount lately. At least it doesn't affect the voiceover)
that's true but 90% of the ones I play have a neat battle theme that I don't want to mute
I like that weird feeling when you listen to it outside of the game and you're like 'ah it's that one I had to hear for at least like ten hours and it's still good'
not for me
(usually) but to each their own
Like if I heard Chrono Trigger battle music right now I would jam
I don't think I ever once muted FFX.
And I've definitely played that more than 1000 hours.
Even now, if I were to get it on Steam (I've still got a copy on PS3), I don't think I'd mute the music in-game.
wow you didn't want to mute Tidus
(sorry that's literally all I know about the game. That and the island music is amazing)
I know the laughing scene is a meme, but contextually and in its entirety it's one of the most moving scenes in the entire game.
wow I'll believe you
Cause I know it's a meme but i am genuinely a little interested in the game
It's one of my very favorites.
Only by the pure magic of the last 5 years of indies has it been pushed out of my top 5.
It's a masterpiece from top to bottom.
Incredible gameplay, story, graphics, music.
Also I did not want to bring this up but like I played the game https://youtu.be/c_WfQ_JsDq8 is from for 103h and I modded the game I previously mentioned with it and that took me 180h

And I listen to it outside of the game a lot and still like it
In hindsight that's pretty uh wild
I've got a not-small number of game OSTs in my playlists.
Hell I used to play smash to this
I can barely remember the last time i listened to something and it wasn't from a game
Idk what this says about me but idc
Personal taste is personal taste.
I listen to stuff all the time when playing. But mostly these videos. You know the ones, where they go about one game for 2-3 hours for analysis and I play some other game and think to myself "Hm yeah that is interesting point."
Well not all the time, just when I think the game I play I won't really listen much.
Which is quite a bit
Check out the gameplay trailer for this upcoming real-time strategy game, Age of Empires IV, that puts you at the center of epic historical battles that shaped the modern world.
Age of Empires IV launches in fall 2021 on Xbox Game Pass for PC, Windows Store, and Steam.

An RTS in 2021?
Impossible
why not
My friend is a huge fan of AoE, should show this to her
RTS as a genre been in a mud for a while. There have been a few released recently there and there, but they were or not that great in balancing or not popular enough for the genre to start going off.
So yeah seeing a big release RTS in 2021 is something
Yeah
Though in my mind, I think RTS has evolved to what is now MOBA.
Which is not too far from the truth.
RTS in general - Warcraft 3 custom maps - DotA - League of Legends / DotA 2
i think its pretty different in nature as in moba is more akin to a multilayer diablo rather than rts
Yeah that's fair. Moba has the the RTS sort of structure? But everything is basically more automated and most control goes into 5 for each team buff units.
And not far off too!
Resource management? Yeah
Small units to waste into defenses? Yeah
Defenses and towers that need a good attack to take down? Yeah
Main goal is basically take down the base? Of course.
I'm alluding more to the "origin" of MOBA as a Warcraft 3 custom map
Many of the RPG elements like items, heores, etc. are closer to Diablo than pure RTS, but even in that sense I think that's a Warcraft 3 thing rather yhan Diablo thing.
It's just that the isometric view is so ubiquitous with Diablo that every isometric games give a Diablo vibe.
Hell some people called Hades a Diablo clone.
I am thinking of maybe one day getting back into Moba tbh. I was playing HOTS a lot with my friend, but now that their trace is gone from the Internet I don't feel like playing HOTS purely because I can't think of playing it by myself lol.
When VR gets big enough we might never see a "pure" FPS again.
That's my prediction.
Game genres are fluid and changing.
something tells me that most of the RTS things evolved into other kinds of strategies
most of the things made by Paradox Int, for example
But anyhow, it's good to see some RTS games being made, even though I'm more and more into turn based nowadays
and in general "build your own town" things
I doubt that. At least doubt the change of FPS "purity" for a while due to simple how VR will have to go for a while before becoming a common product.
Yeah, but VR seems like a good bet for the future though. I'm talking long long term.
This time for sure
thats like saying flying will never be real
I mean it's not.
Airplanes are fake.
They are just there to spread chem trails.
Anyone who claimed they flew before are paid actors.
after experiencing the impact of cavalry charging into formations in total war, this AOE seem kinda lacking
People apparently prefer Grand strategy over over short term games
birds aren't real
as a bird i can confirm they aren't real
the return of a well known rts like age of empires is certainly noteworthy for this year, but then again age of empires hasn't really been inactive either since they've put out a lot of hd and definitive editions of previous titles over the recent years
i think the last big name rts was like... sc2? and the protoss campaign came out late 2015.Theres been indie rts titles in that time like tooth and tail but i can't think of any well known ones from the rts golden years (as far as like... there has not been a release in many years)
dunno, i remember there was that command and conquer mobile debacle, i can't really recall any major pc returns though lol
Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid is getting a Street Fighter crossover, with Ryu and Chun-Li transformed into the Crimson Hawk Ranger and Blue Phoenix Ranger respectively.
Announced exclusively with IGN, a Street Fighter DLC Pack will come to PC, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Stadia on May 25, priced at $12.50 USD. The pack will include...
Hell yeah
Enter the Reapers’ Game on July 27th, 2021 with the release of NEO: The World Ends with You on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch!
Explore the dazzling streets of Tokyo as Rindo, leader of the Wicked Twisters, caught up in a battle to survive and win the “Reapers’ Game.” Team up with a vibrant cast of characters, collect badges to arm yourself w...
We have the Total War series, Stellaris and other grand strategy games that got pretty popular and active.
Also MOBAs are kinda RTS-lite and undoubtedly dominate the eSport scene right now.
But yeah, the base building, resource collecting, troop raising purist RTS like AoE and SC has passed its golden age and a Renaissance is unlikely.
Yeah, Short term RTS are mostly dead as a genre
4X and Grand Strategy has much more wide appeal
i honestly think sc3 would fly off shelves. we haven't had a super main stream rts that has been good in a while. i know blizzard makes good games looks away from warcraft reforged therefore i trust them to give me a good rts even after what 7 years.
i honestly think sc3 would fly off shelves.
I don't see it tbh.
- SC must be an eSport. Explaining why it must be an eSport is long but anyone who play SC and follow the scene know this.
- SC is not exactly approachable in term of newcomers. This is the opposite of starting an eSport scene.
- Making SC3 would mean killing off one of or both of SC: BW and SC2. Yes, the scene is not as big as it used to be, but making a new game would split a dwindling community even further.
TLDR: SC will live on and the dedicated fans would keep playing it for a long time to come. But I don't think it can grow and SC3 isn't the answer.
The thing about RTS games is that they ask you for a minimun of dexterity that most players are unwilling to give
yeah, "traditional" RTS do.
Like I don't wanna click 200 times per minute. I wanna relax
I stopped playing SC2 because I got tired of that haha
Got to low Master level at one point even.
But I don't want my game time to be so stressful
this makes me wonder if there is space for a casual RTS somehow
Halo Wars came close but the game isn't popular enough
and console exclusive
i haven't played it but "dorfromantik????"
looks kinda like that but also not
yeah
it's more arcade-y

listen im well aware of moba's roots as a w3 custom map but i have been been playing rts since the original warcraft, i do not consider moba rts-lite lol. i mean i suppose if you played a lot of competitive rts against other people the comparison makes more sense, but the core of the genre is those things you labeled as "purist" qualities. those things are what make the rts the real time strategy.
i think a lot of rts folks forget that not everyone that enjoyed rts also enjoyed the competitive aspect and were there for the solo play instead
my dad and i spent many a long night doing solo starcraft 1 campaigns back in day lol
I don't mean to use purist in a negative sense.
it came off that way
I was trying to point out a difference between grand strategy and AoE/SC
maybe calling that traditional RTS is better?
idk

Be careful gamers
This affects a few source games and can spread unknowingly
damn
Oh this probably linked to that source code leak a few months back
what I really don't like about RTSes is that they MUST be competitive esport, thus all the gameplay comes to overclicking your rival
that's what SC is about, that's what keeps WC3 alive
but what if people want the same thing, but slow-paced?
I used to play SC campaign with low speed, just so I could watch how things are happening
remember old Strongholds? at some point it was possible just to watch your castle slowly prosper with chill music
what's the rush
love starcraft campaign, and warcraft 3 campaign. never bothered with multiplayer
yeah, but the expectation is there. w3 and sc without esport are not w3 and sc, unfortunately. it's one of the things that happened to be and will have to stay that way.
it's sort of like HL3 meme you know
Valve can't really release HL3 because the associated expectation is so different.
at least that's how I see it
that's why i doubt SC3 is needed
but, some kind of other slow RTS, not esport-oriented, would be welcomed, i think
also SC story is kinda complete.. but some spinoffs or prequels wouldn't be bad.. maybe of other genres
Reminder that in 4 days Portal 2 will be 10 years old
It's been a year since Valorant closed beta
Huh, it's been out for a while
Mundo has never such bs before
I will literally stop playing this game that I already stopped playing. Don't talk to me or my Mundo ever again

Tell me the good stuff
Whoa, Curse of the Dead Gods added an Assist mode in their latest update
Typical Indie stuff with seemingly solid gameplay, pixel/minimalist art style. Some games seem a bit underwhelming to me, however. A couples that actually stood out:
- Road 96: driver sim, story telling game
- Getsu Fuman Den: action side scrolling
- There Is No Game: kinda like a meta mini game collection, kinda like Wario Ware Inc
- TNMT Shredder's Revenge: arcade beat em up.
- Skul: which was already release but is now coming to Switch
Honorable mention to Cris Tale, I like the artstyle but the combat seems gimmicky ngl.
But you didn't miss much tbh. Unlikely I would actually buy any of those games.
im kind of excited for oxenfree 2, i loved the first game. actually replayed it this year to get all the achievements and i still need to do ng+
oh yup, oxenfree is also quite fun, i hope oxenfree 2 is good
I like short bite size games like that
I agree with FoxHope about the summary, would add Olli Olli World to the list as well - looks very interesting to me
also Fez is getting Switch port
which is surprising
Didn't expect it to get picked up even for a port
And Silksong is trending on Twitch even though there was no news, lol: https://twitter.com/search?q=Silksong&src=trend_click&vertical=trends
The latest Tweets on Silksong. Read what people are saying and join the conversation.
some memes are good though 😉
how cruel would it be if they release silksong launch date on April 1st?
cris tale seems super fun imo, i played the demo and loved it :3
honestly hyped that it has a date now, its been tba on the e-shop for a while now
Would probably try to pick up Cris Tales, Skul and Road 96 when those comes out. Been waiting for a long time for Cris Tales
coolcoolcoolcool
Yeah Road 96 and Cris Tales are on my list too
Too true man
Am I the only one hyped for Oxenfree 2?
I am moderately interested.
It looks like it's set on the same island as the first one, huh
i know people on my tumblr dash are looking forward to it
i'm keen, even though i haven't played it. i know at least one other person on this server who would be looking forward to it
After the dissapointment that was Afterparty, tho
It had its share of problems Oxenfree didn't have
The plot was less interesting. Choices mattered much less and the writing wasn't as good
haven't played far into oxenfree the last time I tried. never was quite in the mood for it.
oxenfree is permanently one of those games where I'm a little interested in it but not enough to actually play it despite owning it
Yeah, hilariously you could end the game with ALL characters hating your guts
in what way is that hilarious
That you could actually make your character be an over-the-top jerk
i wish persona had that much characteristic freedom.
just be an ass to all your party members then they just leave.
That or like Tyranny you could make your character just Glare Silently to everybody
I liked the dialogue system in Kentucky Route Zero even if it didn't have a lot of impact on the story.
it's just really well written.
r/gaming is cancer yikes
about the mass effect remaster: it doesn't matter how improved the mako controls are, im still going to drive it as terribly as i can.
Never been there but why tho
yeah i'm looking at it right now nothing seems to be wrong except it crashed my chrome
It's just very bottom of the barrel
it's just a massive circlejerk subreddit
ah
and quite toxic in their posts at that
top/?t=all is fine
uh can I ask what circlejerk is
Minecraft good, Fortnite bad
CDPR good, EA bad
My father just died, he happened to play vidya so I'm going to milk his death for karma
League bad, League toxic, ew you play League?
Uninformed, fake outrage
Let me post an uber popular opinion masquerading as an unpopular and pretend that I'm not like the other gamers
TLOU2 is a godlike masterpieace and you are a doo doo head if you criticize it
yada yada
I just realized I don't actually know lmao
it's just the cringest motifs in reddit distilled in one place
ill dm you
it's an echo chamber of stupidity due to the presence of proxy
CDPR Good, until they do cyblooperunk and ruin my life cuz I thought it was going to give me a wife and fix my underlying issues of life
(lowkey did ruin my life, can't play any online game at all, and that's a somewhat good thing)
mark Vuckerberg
Mark Suckerberg
The Zucks
Ok, which Resident Evil is better? Remake of RE2 or RE 7?
re 5
Re6
stuff like this is why r/gamingcirclejerk exists and is great lmao
is there not a circlejerk subreddit for everything? there's a gorillaz one for gods sake.
best roguelikes besides hades?
exclude roguelites
i heard luck be a landlord is pretty good
i personally really like dicey dungeons
risk of rain 2 is a very action packed fun game
spelunky is a classic
:D but Hades is Roguelite, quite lite at that
just go with it, fox
If you are looking for a game like Hades, you can look into Curse of the Old Gods and Dead Cells.
Enter the Gungeon is quite good if you are find with a bullet hell game
pretty girls teach beefy guys is really good
what
Hades is trash
Uninstalled after my second run
They think that I am gonna do 32 heat on all weapons or something
I can barely play through 300 runs of this game
yet you've beaten it 250+ times
this is a new and interesting take
Hades is trash
Yeah
this is no longer a new take
Lies
#h1-discussion if you dare
Hades is trash, therefore I am not going to discuss about it
i'm unmuting hades discussion for this
this is gonna be sickk
i've never been a troll before this is fun
@polar dragon Are you enjoying Nexomon?
Yes sir!!!
Good to know
17 hours in like 3 days
it's pokemon but better qol features, more challenging, and better plot
I do miss the physical/magic split + the stats system isn't as in depth as the actual pokemon
but man if only pokemon can be more like its "clones"
i wish the "clones" would name themselves something original and stop using the -mon naming scheme
pokemon is never gonna make any major changes, the pokemon company is a highly profitable corporation that has zero reason to adjust its formula much because pokemon games still sell like hotcakes regardless of how the vocal minority feel
theyd have to really screw up hardcore for it to whip up enough backlash from fans to have any meaningful changes imo
switch indie sale, any recommendation from you guys?
I hate this comparison but Pokemon is really the CoD of the Nintendo world, huh.
its one of the most profitable properties on the planet what do they care that some gamer dudes online are complaining the games are too easy or whatever lol
rest assured i take no pleasure in it
no, it is the most profitable property on the planet.
wait it doesn't re-@ them when you edit the comment anymore. discord gods serve us mercy. 🙏
i will humbly accept my bonk
also fox, is it better in ror2 to rush to the tele or to kill most of the enemies first?
about 5 s min per stage.
so 3min30 for loot and locating the tele
1.5 to charge it and go
normally you probably get 4-6 items per stage if not more.
is 5 a recommendation or pretty much a must?
recommended, and really just for the first 4 or 5 stages
later on you can spend as long as you want
aight cheers
Temtem?
The hell happened here
Sounds like it's not a question, but the answer
A typical "I've played this game for 15 days of real time and I hate it" case
Hades bad, Fornite good
Our boy be spitting such normie takes smh
Normies
Agreed with the plot, It was surprisingly good, Fox
Smh
Reminds me of Okami
it is ammy from okami !!
unrelated, but cool
Rip

Discord costed me a screw up

You can't say anything naughty other than Damn
For some reason

I have a Nendo Ammy I won in an Otaku Mode giveaway
It's adorbs
You can, in fact say ||Heck||
that’s super cool!!
From Max Factory with supervision by character designer Kenichiro Yoshimaru and sculpting by Masu, Taizou, and Hiroshi Yuasa comes this Nendoroid of Amaterasu from Okami. Measuring 3.9” of adorable doggo, she comes with several accessories for recreating your favorite scenes from the game. Included are two face plates (gallant and cutely barking...

Look at this happy goddess puppy
It surprised that I even won
the adorableness is overwhelming

Can anyone confirm if Haven is a good single player experience or is co-op recommended?
I've had my eyes on it for a while but still haven't been able to commit to it TwT
I think I heard of it
Maybe from watching NitroRad
An incredibly ambitious project headed by Traveller's Tales that quickly fell into obscurity. What exactly happened here?

Is it this?
Wrong Haven
Both options are good. My reccomendation is that if you wanna play it co-op play it with someone you are close with or the gets is gonna get awkward QUICK
Source: I literally have a Haven pfp :p
I played with My Gf and even sometimes It felt awkward
that's what that attractive woman is
Great game tho
No you're more attractive
Interesting, by the developers of Furi.
Oh neat
Lmao I assumed you'd know
. But I play a lot of Co-op games with my older brother. Is it recommended that the co-op partner be a significant other? 😅
And Squids Odyssey
A true classic
🤩

You live in Alabama?
gerry stop
Nah, you can enjoy it as well. Just try to have fun lmao
Sweet home Alabama
@sour cipher The characters in Haven are apparently a couple, sooo...
understandable have a good day
I liked it because it skips the Flirting/Courting stage and goes directly to an established couple
And deal with couple stuff like sharing the chores, establishing trust in bed. Finding hobbies to play together :p
So you don't em to progress as a couple and just skip straight to being an item
Yep
that's lame
The thing that caught my attention is that the main characters literally look like my older brother and his girlfriend and I found that so weird but interesting
It also contains a banger soundtrack By Danger
Flirting is so fun tho
True
Makes both feel good
But flirting is stressful, I just wanna skip to cuddling watching Avatar on the couch.
Not if it takes them 2 years to notice
Or playing Pyre, if we're in the video games channel.
Aw
That sounds oddly specific. You good there gerry?
I'm great, I'm fine, how are you?
Hanging in there 😔
boring conversation, anyway LUKE WE'RE GONNA HAV
Ok I gotta go but ||Gerry is adorable|| ok bye noe
So you can get an idea of If you like it
I did play the demo when it was on a showcase on steam a few months back
Oh then you have an idea :p
I liked it, but was just wondering if it would be better with co-op or not
This is going in the feel good archives. https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/800967579920760855/832459438375698432/unknown.png
That will depend on your co-op partner
Gotcha. Thanks for the advice
@ocean cypress hi please dont evade the filter (eg censoring a swear), for future reference
it's most definitely a rogue-lite, but that's getting into semantics about definitions
and rogue-like/lite being a pretty awful genre name tbh (similar to the genre of doom clone before it got renamed to fps)
but we don't really have anything decent to rename the genre too that describes what the genre is well
🙃
By the Way, If you feel you are done with Hades, Dreamscaper maybe fills that itch that left behind
no i mean hades is really a dungeon crawler. it has rouge like element but mostly you have permanent stuff
That's why it's a RogueliTe and not a RogueliKe
Roguelike is a dead genre
There are only two people interested on pure PURE Roguelikes: Nostalgia seekers and masochists
Like Imagine each time you died on Hades (Not counting the ending death) your save got reset, all conversations got deleted and you had to start to talk to people from the begininng
now, honestly, are there even many rogueliKes left out there?
i don't know much of Tes, but can't pick a pure K among them
the only ones i can think of are Caves of Qud and NEO Scavenger
Dwarf Fortress?
Except there is no win condition :p
those're weird games man
RimWorld is the pure roguelike 😎
Anyone here played Factorio?
i'd like to, but too scared
they say, once you start optimising routes, it's hard to stop. and by satisfactory experience, i know that im susceptible to this
spelunky 🙏
Is Witcher 3 a game where new players will need a guide? If I accidentally played the game poorly, will I need to backtrack a lot? Should I consult a guide or walkthrough just so progression is much more linear than backtracking to fix a mistake?
And are there missable stuffs?
You don't need a guide. The game is open world so some backtracking exists, but it is not the emphasis (unlike say Metroidvania games).
As for playing the game poorly, it's hard to define poorly. The combat is moderate, not too hard, not too easy so you can play "poorly" and die but you can respawn. The role-playing, on the other hand, your choices have consequences. The game has different branching paths that you can go on. Being a murder hobo will generally get you a murder hobo ending (who would have thunk). Being a good person generally get you a better ending, etc. etc.
So in that aspect don't consult a guide, it takes away the choice element because there are some hard choices in the game.
Some side quests are missable, though if you really want to see everything you will have to play it through a second time, and for different endings too if you want that stuff.
Mu recommendation is definitely go in blind for the first run, then do a New Game + run with a guide on how to play every side quests and choices if you so desire, or do it blind again.
Side quests in witcher 3 is just
the characters' questlines is so amazing
for example Keira's
I played W3 blind 1st time, blind 2nd time, and with a guide the last time for completionist purposes.
I'm thinking about doing a new save/NG+ of witcher 3
Yeah. The dialogue is great 5oo
turns out 40 hours isn't enough
Some jokes are quite funny.
that Roach quest, so hilarious
"You smell really good"
"Hey we are at a funeral"
"You smell really good at this funeral"
I love CDPR's way of splitting quests into main and side quests
giving the side quests emphasis
Unlike someone
I just hope that they fix cp77 as much as they could
the sidequests (especially characters' questlines) are one of my favorite moments in the game
W3 is a bad starting game if you want an open world experience
Everything after that just seems so pale in comparison
IMO it feels slower in pacing
While yes , it takes more hours to complete than '77, it feels slow and sometimes people may leave it behind for a bit
hence why CDPR mentioned that the story may be lower interms of hours
It could be side quest fatigue
Could be it
Playing the game and completing every sidequests is exhausting
but I just feel that '77 in itself is faster in pacing and has a more lively world (no proxyword)
But if you pick and choose what's interesting to you, like really role playing, it's much better
For example, don't go collect all the gwen cards before finding ||Ciri|| lol
lmao
I loved the bit of diversity you can do with the upgrades
and '77 takes that and crank it all the way to freaking 12
you can play the game in any style you want
Nice
I've maintained the opinion that 77 will eventually be good.
When the price is lower it would be a good time to buy
Patch 1.2 confirms this so much
and just couple days ago with hotfix 1.21
There's a lot of playstyles and you can just mix and match
I can continue on and on about the list of styles you can do, it's really fun ngl
My current save (which is "Red"
) has the style of an all in blade only
(which is kinda what
does
)
Wouldn't red be more hacking?
Thanks! I’ll probably go in blind then. What I don’t like about RPG games is how some stuffs are missable and you had to play the whole game multiple times to “experience” everything, hence why I’m considering a guide
Depending on what you don’t get at the first playthrough, it can get annoying at times, especially when I don’t think I can cram in more than 80-100h on this game
Yeah I get you from a completionist standpoint. I used to have the same problem, debated whether or not I should look up a guide so I don't miss any sidequests. I eventually did that on my third playthrough. But the ones I missed wasn't worth it. It's one of the games that you just have to accept that you won't see everything unless you specifically look for it.
Aight, 3h into the Witcher 3 and I already got 5 side quests waiting to be completed
You can come back to most of them.
If you come in thinking that you should finish everything, you are bound to have a bad time tbh. The same way searching for everything in Hollow Knight blind would not be a fun experience.
Wait. Have you reached the ending already?
yeah
I finished it yesterday
the final battle was rough since you can't status the enemy
so I had to restart and respec to more damage moves
it ironically limits the strategic options of the game by nerfing status moves to the ground imo.
Grats* on finishing it btw
so you are not there yet?
Grats*
oh yeah :D
I finished it long ago :p
yee, it was fun. thanks for the rec
You are welcome
Imagine Danganronpa, but its an escape room and theres no cringey fanbase.
Thats what the Zero Escape series is.
So one of my friends told me I should play dark souls after u beat 40 heat in hades
Is dark souls good
Like is it hard in a good way or just not fun in its challenge
My friend did say that if I get stuck in dark souls it’s unlikely due to mechanical execution which is my main barrier in fighting games and stuff
dark souls is good and fun
for the most part the challenge is very fair; there are a couple stinker moments throughout the series
but they're rather few compared to the good stuff
More like overrated

I played 1 and didnt like it that much
most of the difficulty comes from how punishing it is when you fail-dying can send you all the way back
the game often intentionally booby traps you so its kindof sysiphus quest
that being said beating bosses can be rly cool and satisfying
Dark souls is one of that game, which are as difficult as you want them to be
you can always grind and level yourself up to the point enemies will die just by coming closer than nessesary
even though the so-called admirers of the series are not reccomend playing that way and leave a fair challenge for yourself
but it's a possibility
while some people who excelled at the game find it interesting to make a walkthrough without leveling up with bare hands/wooden club and in a piece of cloth for an armor
that's a third way, another extreme
or finish the game with a Dance Pad
for me, Dark Souls is of the best series I ever played (including Bloodborne, and Sekiro to some extent), every challenge feel doable and overcoming those challenges are really satisfying. Everytime you die its MOSTLY because of your own fault (mostly, because ngl there a few BS moments especially in DS 1)
and DS 2, those hitboxes are bs
I tried to get into Dark Souls, once and it was DS2
never going back to dark souls series lol
different producer, it really shows
I think DS3 is more accessible to newcomers, DS 1 is pretty dated
try playing using a DK bongo next time
bloodborne is probably the farthest souls game I've played
haven't beat it tho
too lazy to come back
kek
Top kek
first time i've saw DS was a letsplay from a complete stranger in the series, and got bored
also repulsed with the graphics quality on yt with 420p
but then several years later got to the BB stream of a series fan, who also told many things about the lore of DS and the features of the series while playing
was so interesting i get DS and tried to play
with kbm
oof
ofc, had to drop soon, untill got a normal controller couple of years later
now im a fan of series
later watched same guy playing DS3, haven't seen Sekiro unfortunately
now should seek for his DeS playthrough, if there is one
after all, the root of the genre
oh right sekiro exists
been thinking to jump back
I really like the combat
mainly cause I can cheese the enemies by abusing stealth
you can abuse the parry by tapping L1 as well
da riddim
gesundheit
Mmm honestly kinda disagree. Almost every single trap can be seen, assessed, or dealt with before it becomes an issue just by looking around or taking it slower. The games just want the player to actually pay attention
idk man when I beat the boss and then got one shot my this random dragon
didnt feel good
gotta do it all over again
I played a bit of DS, a bit of BB, some traps are f you material ngl, but there aren't that many of them so it's not a big deal.
well, yes, sometimes it can be not too easy to spot a whole dragon above
That's why I said there are a few stinker moments earlier
But most of them really aren't pure f you energy at all
yeah I heard ds1 is the worst about it and I only played ds1
so biased opinion I guess
Yeah DS1 is kinda rough in places
mostly worst traps are in Sen's fortress and the sewers
legacy games are funny that way.
also can I say I hate the woods and swamp areas in souls game
I'd play bb if it wasnt ps4 only I dont have a ps4 :(
and yet there is at least one such area in every game
I like its asethetics more
like, whyyyy
Indeed :c
I only played BB on my roommate's PS4 in college lmao.
Was fun while it lasts.
yes.
DS3 drawing a lot of inspiration aesthetically and mechanically from BB was honestly for the best I think
Just wait like a decade or two for BB PC port or emulator xD
tbh I prob just don't have the energy to finish one of these games with how much other games im grinding too
how dare you play anything but Hades
hades is one biiiig grind
This is how it felt when rise came out lmao
I bet on 5 decades untill quantum supercomputers will be in every house
PS4 will become cheap and affordable much sooner

im prob gonna get passed on the ps4 of my brother at some point it's just a matter of time 😇
lmao
