i can tell, what i don't like in rogueli(k|t)es.. that feel, when you're losing.. i've tried some before, and it's always like "oh, you've made a wrong choice 5 turns ago, now your're gonna die in pain, and you can do nothing with that, and everyone you love will die and turn away from you, suffer, you worthless maggot", and all that

with Dead cells there was no such feeling, it's more like Dark Souls.. only you can decide, if the game will be easy or hard for you, your skill defines your progress

i've managed to get to the last level on 1st try with second savefile

when you die, you're just like, "lol i died, let's try again maybe"

it's a shmup that can feel similar to a mix between gungeon and isaac, since you've played those before

i've been a part of the classic doom community for years now - making small mods and maps and stuff - and...
while the community now is stronger than ever...
i kinda doubt it will ever go "mainstream", you know?

because I never thought that I would love playing DOOM, and then I discovered DOOM '16 and Eternal

I think about Eternal from time to time since i've finished it

I just want to say, that I'm having a blast with SW Jedi Fallen Order. If there's someone considering getting it - do it. The gameplay and story is really good and even though I'm personally not used to TPP, souls-like action games, this one is very player-friendly I'd say.

@fervent gyro I second Stardew Valley. It's pretty relaxing and productive when your siblings aren't trying to drive you nutz. I also recommend Civilization 6 or Age of Wonders 3 (you can choose to play matches as teams). There's also For The King if you like DnD-style RPG campaigns 🙂

exploring new biomes and stuff

i have 1k hours in terraria and i utilized the wiki a lot but i tend to refer to outside info in pretty much any game i play because that's just how i am? technically you can check items with the guide (the in game npc i mean) and see what you can craft out of that item but if you're going to do that it's just infinitely easier to check the wiki. you don't really need the wiki to play the game but if you want specific items, esp in the endgame, imo the wiki is necessary because you're unlikely to uncover that information yourself as you play, since certain items are rare boss drops, or have unique conditions

this makes me wonder if other classes have any new weapons that... basically fix the game now

its definitely inspired by botw and iirc they've been upfront about that. ive never played it myself though because i dont own a switch so i cant say if any of the comparisons are apt. i have been enjoying fenyx though, the dual narration between zeus and prometheus was genius and their banter through the game is so fun to listen to while you're doing puzzles or fighting stuff

What one have to understand is that Aonuma and Miyamoto design philosophies are diametrically opposed to each other

Aonuma is in favor of innovation while Miyamoto is in favor of keeping the games in their comfort zones
