There were recent updates to Castle Crashers and Nuclear Throne, the NT one was for the 10th anniversary and added co-op.

inhumanly fast pew pew gameplay makes my brain go weeeee so i loved doom eternal

i found the story to be great too

though the dlc was just "ok"

What took me out of Eternal the most was the big shift to "You are playing a video game, nothing about this is diagetic."

Significantly cartoonier enemy designs, weapons floating in the middle of a corridor like it's Quake deathmatch, stuff like that.

2016 immersed me significantly more.

Also, and I recognize this is a very personal and subjective nitpick, I hate the wrist blade.

Like 80% of the Glory Kills in Eternal that I've seen are quick little stabs with half the flourish of 2016's The Boys impressions.

it ditched almost all the fluff that 2016 still had attached to it

cartoony artstyle reminiscent of the original doom's monsters? awesome

bright and colorful floating pickups? yep

I don't really like the exposed biceps that doom guy's new suit has, but I love the predator blade

the way it slices and stabs, and how it often syncs up to the beat, feels really good

it has a heft that some of the punch based stuff can lack

I do think a flaw is just that the arenas can be a bit too small in eternal

2016 had some battles in really large arenas where you could have dudes up close and at a good distance away, but that happens less often in the sequel

also greatly depends on the game and popularity too. cards with higher prices tend to be more niche stuff. popular games with large playerbases will have cheaper cards and will sell more frequently, stuff with higher prices doesnt always sell often

even if you like. open a pack of cards and get a nice foil that sells for 5-10 bucks, youre not guaranteed to sell it even if you lowball

and it has this funky gravity thing where everything is the floor
so you can hold right and go up the "wall" and the "ceiling" and loop around going forever
and even projectiles follow this weird center of gravity

it's a bit , but it's a one off thing in the base game

now - that custom level i told you about took that tube room
made it spin clockwise
then made the floor transparent
and stuck another layer underneath with a star pattern and made it spin counter-clockwise

and then chuck a bunch of enemies in there going at you from all directions who all had to obey by this weird physics

this room... could even make the VR-pros go

W3 on deathmarch forces you to think and plan ahead, use signs, traps, bombs, Alchemy potions, oils

checked the monster bestiary pretty often and prepared accordingly

crafted new gear

explore to find the Witcher school sets

The Bear is the coolest looking one and the Cat is probably the best combat wise set

Sadly, Deathmarch has this problem where you will be force to use Quen Sign often thats the Shield

When asked for the voter’s GOTY nominee, Hades 2 gets like double digits when all other candidates get triple digits

True for various gaming platforms, tieba polls, etc

Even on bilibili GOTY nominees announcement when Hades 2 is shown it gets barely any live comments when all other games have a lot

You can see that from the Player’s Voice, where gacha games get nominated but Hades 2 doesnt appear, granted a lot of GOTY nominees didnt appear too but I feel it shows that it isnt really that popular in China considering how China takes up a big part of the global gaming audience

If you were to search Hades 2 on bilibili, compared to many of the other GOTY nominee games with top results of more than 6 or even 7 digit viewerships and hundreds to thousands of danmu, Hades II search results get like a dozen danmu for top videos, viewerships about 5 digits max

And also now that Best Action Game got announced a lot of bitter Doom fans and Ninja Gaiden fans are complaining how H2 pushed other games away from their competition

Well Hades in the previous game already selected an audience that is more tended to be towards the (forgive my usage of word, “woke”) side of Chinese internet

Though from what ive seen on the bilibili side of Hades community, (ie excluding tieba, xiaohongshu, and weibo and any other website’s discourse meaning it could be biased)

Hades II is in an awkward position in Chinese internet in that it doesnt truly appeal to the H1 side of the community but has some difficulty finding new players (doesnt mean there arent new players, but less popular)

Hades community in bilibili is divided into two sub communities, the gameplay side with videos that focuses on builds, speedruns, challenges, etc and the artistic side with videos focusing on fanarts, dialogues, music, story/narrative, characters etc

As Hades II spent a fair amount of time in popular discourse in China in the early access stages, much of the community saw an H2 that is in an unfinished stage for much of its existence.

The gameplay side would have issues because H2 shakes up the gameplay to be steadier but slower paced than H1, which alienates the audience that prefers a hack and slash “shuangyou”, reflected by the complaints in removed multi-dashes and stuff like that

Actually I should probably move it into H2-general or something
