at least for now it seems like picking guns is more about how they feel in your hands and how they synergise with your current build

cause there's so many variables now it's hard to convey how a gun feels with just numbers on that spreadsheet

its a really great game in there but yeah it is tough to get the hang of at first. i suggest getting used to things in two layers: first work on getting through the first two zones as quick as you can. get used to the down-jump-stomp and the dodge roll. once you're a bit more comfortable with speeding your way through the first few areas then you can switch to start playing slow instead. work on killing the first few enemies without letting them hit ya.

and BOI does it show

i mean - hell - the lead dev - andreas - made all the music for it and went on to form his own band after this

and they're pretty successful

there's one scene that explains COF perfectly

there's this one place where you get a shotgun, right?
in every other game you'd just pick it up, the game would probably play some animation and have your protag say a oneliner and then that's it

but in COF you go to this like sewer thingy
there's some enemies there that are placed just to drain you of your health
you get through them, find a lighter, and solve a puzzle where you have to set something on fire

well - on your way there there's this little corner
under a single, flickering light
and in that corner there's a table
there's an ashtray on that table and a pack of cigs

and next to that table sits some dude... holding a shotgun
stock between his legs, barrel pointing at his now non-existing chin
and his head split apart with loose bits hanging off to the sides

dude basically cobaine'd himself (he's even wearing similar clothes)

and here's the thing - if you go back there after solving that puzzle and use that lighter on that table you can...
take one cig from that poor dude and just have a smoke... next to his corpse

and COF considers this... absolutely disgusting scene to be a quiet one
a break worthy of a cutscene

so yeah - if you do that the game just plays a secret cutscene and you get to just "chill" there
so if this is supposed to be a break from all the other stuff... just imagine how horryfing everything else gets

i grew up on horror games, and yet this one...
this one still gets me

i could go on for hours about stuff similar to this but then i'd be just...
spoiling the entire goddamn game

just incase they didnt || ive been holding off on saying how i feel about BL3 to not ruin it, but i watched a cut of 'The BL3 ending that leads into the BL4 traser" and it reminded me how awful the writing is for the whole last half of the game. Something very major must have gone wrong during production for BL3 because it starts off pretty damn good, it has really great game mechanics to it, its putting the right characters in the right places, incorporating the Tales from the Borderlands characters in a flawlessly natural way and then... then half way through things change. missions start feeling rushed. characters start making horrible out of character decisions. the general cutscene animations start getting all stiff... its why people hate on BL3 so much, not because its an all around bad game, but because it didnt look like it was going to be bad then became so. ||
