just scrap all combat and give me cool levels to explore and solve
it's so relaxing with all the ambient sounds and comfy music

I think that's also an extremely inapt comparison and suggests maybe you and the game didn't click well (not that there's anything wrong with that)
you mentioned having played an hour or two which should be enough to experience the ||time loop mechanic|| and maybe read a few ||nomai writings|| somewhere in the system? For me this naturally led to a "I wonder what they were doing here/ what their story was, let me follow up on X mentioned in this blurb"
if you didn't get that sense of curiosity/drive then perhaps the game isn't a good fit for you (again, nothing wrong with that)

yeah so - This was maybe a year ago, but I remember going to a first planet and discovering some stuff. Story was getting good. I think I was searching for my brother or father or something. The astronomy and symbols were intriguing, but the gameplay wasn't fun. I also think I severely disliked the piloting controls and landing system, lol. I compare it to Starfield because it's a space exploration game with a 10-12 hour main storyline (but yeah gameplay is vastly different) that involves talking to a lot of NPCs.
All good though, not every game hits. 
I also didn't like Baldur's Gate 3...so maybe I don't like 1st/3rd person open worlds with NPCs that aren't mmos. 
, but I loved Disco Elysium. So who knows.

When you go for stylized graphics it's far easier to make them way more expressive and still have it look good. With realistic graphics you basically have to hit the sweet spot or it looks off either way. But I think there's always couple of games in a generation that make it and then people just remember those rather than most that just don't or don't even try

I 🦦 warn you that the story starts off very homely: you start off as a no-name adventurer, and boy does the story make you feel it. That said, if you enjoy cheese or at least have the ability to stomach it, you'll find that it'll have contributed a lot to world building later down the line, so it's still worthwhile
At least I quite enjoyed A Realm Reborn. Stuff gets quite sharply focused starting in postgame 😭

I usually really care about achievements to the point I stop playing games because my playthrough wasn’t “perfect” the first go
but in xiv it just feels like “hey, neat, I did that” and moving on

I never really chase achievements in any game, I view those as "bonus" stuff to chase, it's a nice ding and dopamine hit when you get something , but I wont go out of my way to do it

yea I also rarely use consoles anymore, it's mainly for the exclusives, but sony are releasing their games on pc these days. So ps4 is pretty much just a netflix machine

Yep! Some are quite reasonable. Others most definitely are not. I'm talking like dailies for 7 years straight (when super optimal) or 500 hours of basically running in a circle, etc. Bot work

I should probably give you a few tips too instead of just referring you to WeskAlber!
Generally in the very early dungeons healers will tag mobs with damage-over-time spells while sprinting alongside their tanks. Once the tank comes to a stop, continue dealing damage whenever possible using your normal damaging casts and try to time your healing cast such that it hits your tank right as they hit 50% HP. In FFXIV, everybody's damage counts!

gotcha that's what i've read too, generally all roles are pretty much dps first, since the quicker mobs die = less time tanks getting hit, hence less heals needed.
im interested in Sage, looks like really different than your archetypical mmo healer

i did automata and replicant "legit"
replicant was kind of ridiculous because i was cultivating flowers for like a rl week
and i remember grinding 2 hours or so for one item

HZD had optional bonus if you did link them, but not as a requirement. Hell even HFW that came out this year only had it as an optional thing.
I think currently only Helldivers and Tsushima's multiplayer have it as a requirement, but GoW Ragnarok is coming in September and that has it listed as an actual requirement, so they just kept moving closer and closer to it and now we're here

I believe they originally had it as a requirement but they walked it back before release, because Steam store page says it's needed for multiplayer and "playstation overlay" but I haven't played it so I don't know what that is
