JARVAN????????
VILE!!!
wait im gonna show riot tinybun your vi time tho
she wants to know if heartbreaker was ur most used vi skin or if the site randomly picked that
time spent dead: 1 day 20 hours

that just sounds like a real nasty hungover
imagine if there was a site that would track your party stats like that
yeah I answered in DM but it wasn't what I used, in fact, I don't even own the skin 😔
haha shhh
Jarvan is nice wdym, have you seen his pool party skin?

nuh uh
thanks for the ping 👍

me seeing the ping late like
normally i miss the ping until way later
wooo finally got my hands on P3R, it's so good
I'm watching At Dead of Night playthrough
it still manages to scare the crap out of me

i am
this close to pulling the trigger on tekken 8
i'm on the store page
i'm one click away from buying it, full price
oh wait
I can't cause my credit card is blocked
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
yeah i know it's pricy, but...
this game left such a strong impression on me that i'm willing to pay that
which doesn't happen often, mind you
it looks really good
i haven't bought a full price game in AGES
never played a 3D fighter, aside from when I got soul calibur 6 for very cheap to play 2B
HANG ON
while the game is downloading i'm just going through my usual youtube viddy game garbage
and i saw detroit: become android pop up
who here was on that david cage marathon as of late?
i wanna say foxhope, but those aren't either mobas or rogueLITES so probably not
um
sidenote
Tekken 8 customization is something else
i wasn't expecting... this
i don't get the first one
Bruce Lee maybe?
I think it’s Rock Lee
Oh yea
Tekken 8 - Creative Cosplay from character customization, made by combining accessories & recolor. Including some characters from Resident Evil, SPY×FAMILY, Pokemon & FFVI.

I always wondered why in all Mass Effect 2 cover arts it's always Thane and Miranda with Shepard
Like, why Thane specifically.
anything interesting from next fest?
im going through it rn and opening everything that seems interesting
but i came across 3 games that "borrow" UI and art style from hollow knight pretty heavily already
it feels very mean to say this about indie games that had a lot of love put into them like this but from the little videos in the next fest screen they literally look the same
make that 4
Oh yeah I think I saw one of those somewhere
Like - as someone who never played hollow knight
I thought that was some silksong footage lmao
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1538710/StellaGale_The_Trials_Of_Faith/ this one looks interesting
A decade has passed and a glimmer of hope revealed a clue about her father's whereabouts. Stella, a young mechanic and assisted by her spirit-brother Gale, must become the strongest Gladiator in the most brutal Colosseum tournament to uncover the mystery of their long-lost father. Together, they delve into a world they've never seen before, a wo...
Coming soon
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2395770/Never_Grave_The_Witch_and_The_Curse/ one of those, Dead cells x Hollow Knight, apparently it's from the devs of palworld lol
Authentic 2D actionNever Grave is 2D action game where you journey with the aid of a cursed hat. Identify enemy attacks, fight with magic, and sometimes use the terrain to win! Dungeons such as ruins and botanical gardens are auto-generated and change each time you play. Furthermore, there are obstacles and puzzles waiting to block the player's ...
Q1 2024
ooh niceu :3
this is something I've been vaguely following the development of
same solo dev as Haiku the Robot
https://store.steampowered.com/app/2666510/Rustys_Retirement/
Rusty's Retirement is an idle-farming simulator designed to sit at the bottom of your screen allowing you to work on other tasks while caring for your farm!Grow crops:Plant crops and watch Rusty get to work as he waters, nurtures, and harvests. Q1 2024
i feel like some of the previous next fests had very little that seemed interesting to me
now, i went through all the game and made a pretty big list of everything that caught my eye
so thats cool
ill actually sift through them later tho
im guessing, Deviator, Never Grave and what's the third?
There was this one demo of this sort of puzzle game set in some destroyed facility
It had one of the crappiest trailer
Just the solo dev reading a script to a crappy mic with no pop filter while some gameplay footage was rolling in the background
It sounded super awkward
But then I got the demo and it was pretty dang good
Islets maybe?
saw it a while ago, Mendacium instantly reminded it
islets has already released
well, i'll say two of them kinda reminds, places in one look kinda similar, and one is a shameless ripoff
is good game would recomend
im kinda afraid for teamcherry
the longer fans wait, the higher expectations will be
iirc, that's what stopped valve from making HL3 when it was possible
a lot of people unfortunately don't understand that team cherry is such an incredibly small dev team (3 people iirc)
yeah
right, there was also this https://store.steampowered.com/app/1614330/Crowsworn/
Explore a Ruined WorldA dark curse has befallen the land of Fearanndal, a once vibrant kingdom. All but the last remnants of humanity have seemingly vanished, as the world is overrun by sightless creatures of nightmare.Explore a large interconnected world as you fight against hordes of monsters that roam the forsaken lands. To be announced
seriously, it's hard to understand how one game managed to change metroidvanias so much.. while its own release went almost unnoticed
Mass Effect 1 is the start of a fascinating series. It has incredible worldbuilding, and wonderful pacing in its main content all the way up until its conclusion.

man why is the worldbuilding in this game so good
Oh and i tried Children Of The Sun, it's a sniper, puzzle, superhot-ish hybrid, pretty fun
did they ever come out and say they won't make it? because a small part of me is still waiting
no, i don't think so
yet they explained that the whole thing was rewritten and started over several times, eventually many people behind HL2 left the development
probably the release of Alyx was also because they wanted to try and see how series feels in the modern times.. and also retcon some scenarios
big Ep2 cliffhanger left way too little options to make something
holy hell
why not the awoo warwolf patch... https://www.strangerealpatches.com/cdn/shop/products/IMG_20200430_1819541_1024x1024@2x.jpg?v=1588289294
i got it off ali express for like, 2 euros i think
not my proudest aquisition
it took one month to arrive alongside some screen protection foils for my phone
which were 1 euro for 4
and god damn, i literally screwed up puttin on 3 of those before nailing the last one
i suck at putting on screen protectors lmao
yeah
my advice is to like
get all of your stuff in bulk
as in, make sure you include everything you want cause if you forgot something that's another month on ya
Can anyone suggest me similar games like hades
Hades 2
Bruh
You could try supergiant’s other games (bastion, transistor, pyre) bc they have a very uniquely supergiant feel
If you’re looking for roguelites, I’ve seen a lot of people mention curse of the dead gods
Children of Morta, the story is also pretty good for a roguelite. Curse of the dead gods too, but the combat is more deliberate than hades imo
Yeah the combat in dead gods felt a bit off to me
A bit too stiff
Children of Morta, though?

Great couch co-op game
One of the best I played in years
Thanks
But yeah
Get a buddy, a cheapo gamepad, a beer or a capri sun or something (depending on your age) and play some children of Morta
It’s got a great single player campaign that’s paced
just right
With lots of opportunities for experimenting with some really cool skills
And once you beat it you can sink A LOT of hours into a dedicated roguelite mode it has
It’s good fun
my guess would be that it's because Drells were a new species
don't see any other reason
Im back from work
I’ve got a big ole cup of coffee
Got my pc all warmed up
Let’s see if tekken 8 was worth its asking price
God I’m so hyped
ITS GOT CROSS PLATFORM MULTIPLAYER!!!

10 seconds in and I can already tell it was worth it
oh my lord THIS GAME IS AMAZING

man i haven't had this much fun with a fighting game since MKX
and that game is like 9 years old at this point
man
im getting even more reasons to replay ME Trilogy
not only because i wanna be maleshep and go almost full renegade but also make ||Make Saren and TIM off themselves in 1 and 3 respectively||
i am seriously considering buying a fighting stick for this game
any recommendations?
man I played tekken 5 alot back then, Jin was my main, determined to learn the "new" Jin moveset
I am looking at playing other super giant games. What are they in order from best to worst?
transistor is great 🫢 i thought bastion was a bit dated in terms of gameplay, i never rly got into pyre tbh
For me Hades > Transistor > Bastion, havent play pyre. Even the "worst" from their catalogue is still really good
yeah hades is my least-favorite and i have 600 hours on it. what can i say
i think its best to just play them in order of release, not "best to worst"
For me I think its Bastion = Transistor < Pyre ~= Hades
transistor is equal with pyre to me, then bastion, then hades. but yk, i love hades a lot so
For me, Pyre > Hades = Transistor > Bastion
I should get into Pyre ASAP
quick
someone pull out a calculator and figure out how many different combinations of 4 variables you can have
and boom - that's how many different opinions you're gonna get lol
anyways
now that i've got your attention
i need you to listen to this track

GOD why is this game so good?
4! = 24 i believe 🫢 also i kinda assumed that they already played hades so i didn't include it in my list
Maaaan
I’m stuck at work
I could’ve stayed at home
I could be playing tekken right now

SUCH A LUST FOR REVENGE
WHOOOOOOOOOO
you know what?
MGS5 gets a bad rep
and while it may not be my favourite
i still love the absolute cheese factory that is skullface
he's so cheesy it puts lactose intolerant people in danger
that's the spirit
is anyone getting helldivers tmr 🫢
I am very excited
But my friends and I agree to wait a week
for proper reviews from both critics and users
then if it's good, we will buy 4 copies
so far, reviews have been decent. some concerns about the amount of contents, but given most games are live service nowadays, eventually it will be good, right?
right?
i think they did a pretty good job w/ live service in their first game 😔 plus they have the whole small indie studio thing going on
hopefully it’s good and my friends can be convinced to play though 😃
been playing botw and i like it but like
the vast, vast emptiness of the first area is dragging on me
does it get better later?
everything else is even emptier, since it's even bigger than the first area. emptiness / isolation is kind of what they were going for with that game
i do get that, like narratively it makes a lot of sense
i still liked it (not at first, only after playing tears of the kingdom) but i feel like you spend a lot if time just moving between things to interact with
the positive thing i am trying to say is you might get used to it
Are there any standout demo's for this Next Fest?
tbh i think it'd bother me less if i wasn't so hopelessly lost
That just comes with the territory when it comes with open world games tho, no? I've not played it, but I think the clarity and direction comes after playing it a bit. At least, that's my experience from the other open world stuff I've played
with most openworld games you can come across some landscape, pointless rocks and bushes, at least something that make one place distinguishable from another
from what i saw, in botw it's mostly about minecraft superflat or standard gmod kind of empty
Well
Tekken 8 has a great demo
It’s not a part of the next fest, but hey
It’s there
And it’s damn good
Oh hah I'm not much of a fan of fighting games
It doe look fun but it's not for me
I'm glad you've been enjoying it
Yeah this is the most beginner friendly fighting game I’ve ever played
It welcomes newcomers
Loves button mashers
To the point of making a whole separate campaign mode where you’re supposed to just have fun and goof around and the main villain of this story is… a massive gatekeeping edgelord that looks like a miiverse sephiroph
And he’s all like „ooooh I came here for competition but it looks like I won’t find any”
And I’m like „yeah whatever - imma be here playing a bear with a baguette lmao”
They got VLC in Tekken?
nah i'm just using instant replay and taking screenshots from there
there's no way i'm gonna let go of a gamepad during all of this insanity just to take a screenshot
also
i'll just go out and say it
AI ghost battles are the most fun i've ever had with a fighting game
period

i have no idea how they pulled this off, but it works really well
i mean - just today i got to fight luigi while wearing a traffic cone on my head
i barely won with knockoff Bruce Lee ||Marshal Law|| dressed as a proper Bruce Lee
and got absolutely rekt by some mad lad kuma player that - and brace yourself for this - trained his ghost AI to constantly use cheese strats
i ain't even mad
that's hilarious
oh my god i only just got what you meant there

that's a good pun
AAAAAH
this was almost perfect
i wish i didn't mess up that last kick
argh
i absolutely adore this game
i'm gonna rave about it as much as i did about AC7 last year
this is my AC7 of 2024
Urgh why has HEALTH done a collab with Signalis now i don’t wanna play survival games 😭😭😭
Is there something about health I should know 💀❓
maybe some people think they're just collabing with everyone w games and stuff
burnout ?
my best guess
or possibly people are over the memes
Iunno man
I think this collab shtick led to their best album yet
Rat wars
It’s really damn good
God I love their collabs
Yeah
The NIN collab was great
I mean - I’m a nin fan so I’d call it „great” either way
Then there was lamb of god, hakita, perturbator, sierra
It’s good
Good viddygamey music
speaking of collabs
SOON
I can recognize like all the Eddies except the one on the top
I may be stupid
interesting
Helldivers 2 went from 55% mixed to 70% mostly positive in the span of 24 hours and one day 1 patch is quite an achievement.
this just proves modern gaming is a roguelite
they did better on the second run

i literally saw a video of an ai cover of Shepard saying the Navy Seal copypasta but adjusted for the mass effect universe
Does anyone know games like factorio but more tower defense but still with much logistics mining etc
Satisfactory
It's Factorio but 3D
I thought satisfactory didn't have enemies and turrets and etc
also @fathom juniper on a new HideoTube video, Kojima said additionally that DS2 will have forest fired and earth quakes
idk didnt play much
i should get back into it
Well tower defense is when there's enemies and you defend against enemies with towers
It's like some of my favorite things combined
"Hey there, pretty momma!"

This is from a very credible source who has accurately predicted multiple characters who ended up being in tekken 8s base roster so this could be real. Of course take this with a grain of salt, you can never really know for sure. The leak info is leaked below

LIDIA IS COMING BACK!
i hate that we live in a world in which developers regularly put the "dlc" in the main game already
you... do realize the DLC isn't in the game files here, right?
it's just some scrapped strings in already existing game files
games have scrapped or unfinished crap hidden in them all the time
i mean - just look at valve games
there's references to other projects in every major update they do to their games
tbh i didn't watch the video
my point still stands, though not in regard to that particular game. sorry
ah
fair enough
i thought you meant t8
my bad
actually
hang on
wasn't there a tekken game that did precisely that?
or was it street fighter?
from a cursery look it was street fight x tekken

so i was either double right or double wrong
depending on how you look at things
who wrote that?
that's a face of someone who loves bad puns
i mean, i did. i made an assumption w/o watching the video, so you were right to make that correction
jesus christ somebody help this poor man
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8wpWATodZM8
he couldn't even get up
it's gonna suck when the time comes and i'll have to try out other characters
cause i've been doing nothing but learning nina for like a solid week
it can be pretty funny in some cases too
guilty gear players have been using a similar datamine to t8's to think that slayer was going to be added for three years
still no sign of him lol
OOOHHHNNNOOOOOOOuuu
king started doing his usual shenanigans
https://youtu.be/6-x73WLypKs
i'm getting tekken 3 flashbacks
this... this isn't good
i don't know how to handle this
what am i supposed to do?
that was like 5 command grabs in a row
this is hilarious
i love the character editor in this game

stupid technology
so i was trying out tekken 8 multiplayer, right?
it was getting pretty rough
pretty sweaty
i was on a match point against some azucena player
and then my stupid "smart" watch went all high stress detected! and started beeping at me and vibrating and it distracted me and i started to choke
and got rekt

i feel old...
im sorry thats very funny
my friend was playing survivor in dead by daylight and his wifi died, disconnecting him from the game right as he was about to lose
he was agonizing about it seeming like a rage quit LOL
lmao
no one would believe him either way
"oh no i didn't rage quit - my wifi died"
i saw it happen... i believe him.....
"yeah sure...
"
Just downloaded spelunky. Why is this game so hard
setting up my new gaming laptop 👀
just installed steam and
throwback to the days where i would boot steam up on the reg...
yo nice! what laptop did you get
Old chungus (pink Transistor and Nyx laptop) vs new chungus (purple and mint green laptop below it)
those stickers are amazing
i really turned my milennial pink content creator laptop into a junction jan's pizza box
the glow up is real etc etc
Been playing some demos this week and I have been pleasantly surprised by Cryptical Path (a roguelike where you build your own route in the world), Going Under (a roguelike where you delve through corpo offices fighting with random office stuffs), and Telmari (a cute platformer where you use plungers as platforms to launch yourself with and navigate levels).
going under was fun
Ye, I'm gonna pick it up next time it goes on sale
Speaking of tactics games, Trash of Titans looks pretty cool! @worthy dome
tried out cryp path, I like it
It has a lot of potential! I enjoy the combat and movement quite a bit
I'm glad you like it ^^
its insane how much character customization stuff they had. like i recently looked at calibur 6 and they had less. AND those were microtransactions too
also the games after 3 dont have this story campaign where you play as a char you made, and its also a real time strategy hybrid
custom character in 3 get to choose from like...idk 6 or so? moveset. these arent moveset belonging to the standard characters either
namco needs to go back to sc3
well - i'm coming from mortal kombat and it's almost the same deal there
the only difference being they're cutting gameplay features
good gameplay stuff for causals and beginners
X had the crypt, living towers, all sorts of modifiers - the works
then 11 came out and...
well - let's not talk about that - i don't wanna get banned due to excessive swearing
and then mk1 which feels so barebones
in terms of content it doesn't even stack up to early ps2 games
hell even tekken3 on ps1 has more fun stuff
seeing how you enjoy tekken 8, thought you might like sc3. maybe
is it on steam?
so...
i just went on youtube
literally the first thing that popped up in my recommended vids
i am calm
for now
but i can imagine not being really calm when i get confident in my playstyle and then someone brings me down a peg
imma just...
imma just save this for later
AAAAAAAAAAAA
DAMN IT, MIKO

no it's not about soul calibur
i was on my couch, screwing around on my phone
and then i saw a popup on my desktop PC that you replied to me
so i got up, went over to my desk to see what you wrote
and sat down on my chair only to realize a quarter of a second too late that it's all wet cause i just finished washing it

that's why i wasn't on my pc cause i was waiting for my chair to dry up
what a rotten way to die
touche
you know what?
now that i'm thinking about it
it feels weird to play a tekken game without hatchi in it
i never really liked him, but - you know
he was a series staple
don't care
lidia is coming back in dlc
i just hope she gets a better VA this time around
you were supposed to react viscerally to having to buy characters in fighting games!
lmao

yeah i'm kinda on the fence about it
i'll just wait and see what's their pricing
and how they're gonna sell it
if it's gonna be a pack of like 4 characters for a reasonable price - sure
if it's gonna be every character separately?
nah
especially if it's just a character and nothing else
also - i cannot wait for the first wave of nerfs to roll in and see all the reina and victor mains losing their mind
that guy
yeye he's, uh
hworang's buddy
or something
i don't know tekken lore besides the fact that hachi has like 20 children and loves none of them
sounds accurate
and his favourite pastime is yeeting people into volcanos
bonus points if they're relatives
come on now
def SBMM
i don't even know what that means
skill based matchmaking
oh, right
BUT!
you wanna know the best thing?
I FLIPPIN' WON SOMEHOW!
https://youtu.be/tCm_pffsvhw?si=OoJzJ7AK3fHTNlPW
i don't know how
but i did
ok
i'll stop spamming tekken stuff for a while
i need to cool off a bit
Clutched? That was a 3-1 lol
You rolled that guy
look at the stats, my guy!
i was D ranked in everything
they were S, S+ and S+
my tekken points?
100
their?
over 750 000
Pshhh
i'm the type of person who usually runs away at the mere thought of playing anything PVP
pvp is so much fun though
in general heh
but it's just my oppinion
it depends mostly on the community
you can have the crappiest game but it can still be fun to hang around with some fun people online
or you could have the best gameplay in the world and it would still mean nothing if your PVP was infested with a bunch of a-holes
- cough * KF2 * cough *
but here?
we've got both!
great game and a really welcoming community
Well that's really cool
How do you hang out online in Tekken tho
Discord?
Or do they have a general lobby where you can chat with people and challenge them
there's the tekken lounge
a separate mode where you make your xbox360 looking ass avatar and hang around with other players from your region
kinda-sorta like a tiny MMO or something
Ahh that's nice
you walk up to someone
oi - wanna fight?
and then you can challenge their ghost AI
which is their main with all their goofy AAH cosmetics and even goofier strats
because the AI can do that in this game
or if you want to go pure online and fight someone you can just use the normal quick match option
The fact that the AI can mimic a player strats is really friggin dope
Can you see who challenges your ghost?
oh yeah
and they make a big deal out of it too
like - you can visit one specific arcade and train your own ghost there and then fight it
and it blew my mind how well it was mimicing my playstyle
i think so?
i know that i can see the players profile and what not
but i haven't found the option to check who played against my ghost
and you know what's the best?
i've been playing it for over a week now...
...and i haven't even started the main campaign yet
there's so much stuff in this game
Oooh what a cool training mechanic!
Find your own weaknesses and openings lol
that's just the tip of the iceberg
i'm usually pretty bad at fighting games
but here there's so many tools to learn moves and - most importantly - your weaknesses and what not
I doubt people play these for the story hahah
not only the training mode is the most robust i've ever seen
it's so complex it should come with it's own tutorial
BUT!
and get this
yea, I could never get into these because the sheer number of combos is really intimidating
hands down the best feature in this game
your replay system is your own personal coach in here
Wait what? Does the game add commentary to the replay?
better
The game points out mistakes right? Or something like that
so let's say you played with someone online and got rekt, right?
the game saves your replay
and then you go and watch it
and the system detects the moment where you got schwacked the hardest
stops the replay
and goes "oh hey - you should punish this kind of move with that kind of move"
"would you like to practise that now?"
and you just press one button and bam - it transports you to a separate training room
displays the entire combo
all the imputs
it even has a demo on the timing and what not
and you can practise it
BUT WAIT!
THERE'S MORE!
once you're done practising that move you can go back to the replay
AND RESUME FIGHTING FROM THAT POINT!
and that ghost AI system takes over the other player
ohoooho wow
absolutely mindblowing
yeah kinda like that
it's amazing
also you can knock someone out with a baguette
10/10
few days ago i met luigi
someone dressed up his Jin in a green t-shirt and a green beret
and today...
i saw on youtube someone dressing up their Azucena as mario
https://youtu.be/TmYYs8v44l4
WAHOO! WAHOO!
... I'm actually trying to main Zafina 💀
#tekken #azucena #tekken8
high-pitched ***wahoo!***s andd all
there's also the little things
you know how in most fighting games player 2 starts with a disadvantage? @toxic cosmos
cause they're facing left and all their inputs are flipped and what not
tekken 8 is a 3d fighting game
Nope, I've next to no experience when it comes to fighting games lol
so your position doesn't matter
they just flip the camera around for you, that's it
so you're both player 1
that's all it took
Wow how cool! Man I'm so glad there are some games that make these sorts of improvements to their series
yeah this is probably the most welcoming fighting game i've played
How does that work in LAN tournaments tho, isn't that how those are hosted?
ah okay, so they don't use the same screen
only couch VS shares the same screen
I'll have to try them sometime, but I don't have the time to sink into learning them rn
that's good though!
this is the sort of attitude tekken 8 wants from you
it starts you off with a "special style" which simplifies the controls
and then just goes "go nuts - go mash those buttons"
and you can play like that as much as you want
it's up to you when you want to switch to "normal" controls
and i do mean - the game says that
the arcade mode starts with you tagging along with some dude and he's your coach
and he just tells you the basics and then goes "just mash some buttons, i guess
"
I'm sure that's what all new players do anyway
Might as well embrace it and try to have them learn from it somehow
that arcade mode is a joy to play too
it has a silly little story about you making friends and goofing around in the game
and the "villain" of this story is some...
gatekeeping edgelord e-sports pro that goes "oh i came looking here for competition, but it looks like i won't find any"
also
tekken ball is back
https://youtu.be/gmtQgjtSb5M?si=gkxp_yswvNLksft-
wait wrong link
there we go
omg that looks like so much fun
yeah it was so much fun all the way back in t3
basically - you can't hit each other, you have to hit the ball and then that ball carries the damage of your last hit
only took them over 20 years to bring it back
I'm familiar with this kind of mechanic from Shellshock Live, they have a rebound mode where you need to bounce your shots off of bumpers in order to deal damage, I enjoyed that mode more than the base game
i mean - hell
there's two games that are just like that
lethal league
another "fighting" game i quite liked
anyways
ehck out this cool sax solo

this game was worth every single one of those 70 dollars
Im glad you're enjoying yourself so much

remember how hard i was ranting about ace combat 7 last year?
this is my AC7 of this year
zamn
I cannot man
I have plans with my money
60 euros this month that I'll save for a trip with some friends and see if anything remains from that sum
a trip for 60 bucks?
If I have the luck, I'll get a norwegian fishnet base layer thing from Brynje
where are you going?
the gas station?
nope
A city with some friends and staying a few days gotta prepare for the expenses which are basically cigars and booze XD
sounds like a fun time
I make some of the meanest meals when Im buzzed up, last time I made churros
Game wise I got Elder Scrolls Online Necrom Deluxe Collection and BG3 on my priority list
that's...
a really long title
It basically includes every single ESO expansion and Necrom and all the deluxe items from each
And I found it at a killer deal
Shapez 2 is so good
Try shapez 2 demo if you haven't yet
Very conveyor
I'll see tomorrow
Ok so…
Today…
In about 6 hours…
Im gonna try something I never thought I would
Im going ranked
Godspeed, Kraja
rip kraja

has anyone heard of dustforce?
I have
It's a 2D platformer where you use a broom to boost your speed or smth like that, no?
Why do you ask, are you playing it?
Ah, yes
the Ahti simulator2012
anyways
so i played some ranked tekken 8 today
dear LORD is it ever sweaty
but man
what a rush
yep
i tried and failed rather spectacularly
it's just like.. the most difficult game i've ever seen
was wondering if other people had experience with it
I've just heard of it, never tried it
First time I've heard of it
celeste seems so epic, awesome music and art style and its difficulty turns me off so much. :(
following convo in #h1-discussion
Tbh for celeste I wish the assist mode was a bit more than
"Infinite dashes/stamina/outright invincible"
Also do you ever clear something that is super hard then later look at it and just think "how the heck did I do that"
the base game is manageable, i think. but i've never done the b-side levels, or heart of the mountain
me and comb room
idk how I did that
and would not even accept 100 bucks to do it again
First time I played I did all up to ch7, assisted mode through ch8 then came back for farewell
Without having ever touched b sides
So uh
2hrs in and quit at where you need to collect the 5 keys
You know I don't get much the pain of comb room
Don't speak to me of the ice room
I did 2 paythroughs, one where I played the base game but felt too bad at it so I used assist mode infinite stamina and dash assist to let me take my time whenever needed.
the other I did a year later I did everything without assist
what do you do, I'm curious
just better execution?
But didn't know it had a reputation for example
5C killed me
To this day idk how you do 5c first room "intended"
Everyone has like a different way to go through it lmao
lol true
That said it was my first golden
this madlad did 5C before 1A
my first golden was 1A winged
I think most people struggle with timing the wavedashes at least
I would consider myself better at wavedashing than wallbouncing
I keep bonking my head on ceilings, and whenever it isn't that I am pressing the jump key too early or for too long, or am holding grab out of panic
That said
The section I used guides the most was the rhythm blocks kmao
My timing is awful
wow I breezed through that one
I was done with that within like 2 hours while event horizon for instance took me like 30
But yeah apparently I did well for my first attempt through most of farewell according to my friends
with more than 10 of those being comb room
you clearly did yeah
They were talking how much it took them and suddenly I appear with "now I'm helping the bird"
Also farewell - farewell is a fun section
yes
Moonberry path too
Fair
though the idea of having to die once intentionally is funny
But yeah most of my goldens come from "what lvl looks doable but also fun"
And so 7c became my 2nd golden
After I did farewell lmao
excuse me what the heck
¯_(ツ)_/¯
@torpid walrus ok this is easier than trying to post screenshots
go here https://www.dustforce.info/
don't bother scrolling the site, just open the menu, and look at the number of mechanics; they've broken it down into basic advanced and expert
C sides being 3 rooms help
i didn't play celeste through so i dont know if it has this many
And like the first 2 rooms of 7c ain't much
are you one of those 202 people
No
I did attempts at fw golden
Didn't get past the first section
I don't like the idea of goldening 6a-b either
https://celeste.ink/wiki/Techniques longer page
Techniques, often simply known as tech, are special moves Madeline can do to enhance her mountain-climbing ability. They come in a wide range of uses and difficulties. Many can be used to skip sections of a room or multiple rooms at once. There are a lot of techniques in Celeste and their variations, so it is virtually impossible to describe the...
I have all c sides golden
1-2-7a golden
1-2-7b golden
Okay, yes, that's more than celeste :D
Winged golden

And did attempts at 4a but then I moved on to strawberry jam
we're on the same page of talking about movement tech, right?
not game mechanics
because you're showing the wiki page for mechanics
not tech, which the convo was about
(decided to stop at advanced lobby)
me 👍
dustforce is about speedrunning
is celeste?
i don't think so
but i can't remember
it's one of the top speedgames out there
@worn marten https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1142115080809488464/1206666184502812783/image.png?ex=65dcd675&is=65ca6175&hm=4fb6a1242f77859531042309b66fb7beb5041175a78f93429443e4563dfc2cb6& literally front page of speedrun.com, it's fourth and been there almost since release
with a lot of inbuilt features that encourage speed and quick play
there's not a lot out there comparing the two
found that
https://youtu.be/KgUKhfZbfA8?si=MzCMFSFpV4mZkvQN
yotta ss is insane
ah no wonder i couldn't play it
rayman is more my speed
ultrakill
I've been told to play this by like 4 people but I don't like shooters because I suck at them 🫡
that looks awesome thanks for new game
transistor didn't grab me immediately. too slow
i still have to check out pyre, i downloaded it but didn't launch it
that's what they all say
well different in the sense that i really enjoyed it lol not like "shoot the thing until it dies"
crazy movement and variety, really encourages swapping out weapons and stylish gameplay, great speed game
if I ever do get the game I will create a voicecall with everyone who told me to play it in there so they can watch me be bad
and this is a promise
i was also bad at the beginning
and im bad now that im rusty
its so satisfying and rewarding to get good at it
if you play i really would like to see it, do you stream on twitch?
sometimes
bad computer though so resolution / framerate might not be great
aw. well if discord is better for streaming for u i would still like to see it 😭 get that gc i guess
I too am interested about #h2-discussion message @dapper creek & @wintry cedar
HK is pretty great and I've never heard anyone say that it's faulty
Unless you mean that there are some subjective things you find annoying that you wish they changed
Still tho, the game was constantly updated and tweaked for years after the 1.00 release
I mean, there are a few things people could find a little annoying for sure, like the backtracking from mantis lords and whatnot
But for the most part I'd consider it a functionally flawless game
(it's not flawless on a technical level in that there are definitely some bugs and whatnot, but functionally, as in what it means to achieve, it is almost perfect)
no quest tracking (not even main), compass taking up a charm slot, charm balance being garbage with half the charms being basically filler, best ending being locked behind an optional boss rush mode
Aww what
I had no desire to play Pantheon, it was miserable
the only good part of that DLC was the new bosses
a lot of that just seems like you didn't like the core mechanics of the game itself
and yet, for some asinine reason, the best ending was locked behind Pantheon 5
the compass taking a charm slot, for example, is to encourage people to try their hand at not using it
So they actually start memorizing the layout of the maps and whatnot
really, the DLC is a core mechanic? You can't tell me ass backwards map management and lousy travel points were actually well designed
The main quest was to kill the dreamers, so that was definitely tracked. Everything else was supposed to be a reward for exploring, a core mechanic of metroidvanias
I'll give you that, the dreamers were clearly marked.
And what do you mean lousy travel points? The stag stations? They were positioned pretty accesibly for the most part, the most annoying is arguably greenpath? And even that is for a reason (so you can get back to the first (hard) boss easily after leaving).
The dlc isn't a core mechanic, so I'll give you that part, but it's not a necessary part of enjoying the game. Yes, the best lore ending is locked behind it, but you don't actually need to get it if it frustrates you. It's meant to be a reward to the player for actually going through it all, yknow?
yes, stag stations. Having to go from the station to where you needed to was nothing more than busywork considering the benches were everywhere. They could've just allowed us to teleport to benches, much the same way travel was done in DS.
The lack of teleporting was also meant to support the metroidvania aspect- being able to teleport everywhere would make exploring almost pointless, as you'd never backtrack and find new avenues to go places
The game borrowed heavily from a variety of titles but didn't bother to improve on all of their faults. The reason it's baffling is that you can clearly see that Cherry avoided common pitfalls, like collectibles not being trackable until you get the Collector map, or Prince Zote giving a gameplay affecting reward upon first kill instead of full 9
Hollow Knight is not supposed to be Dark Souls
They could've easily implemented simple objective tracking (Silksong), allowed for bench teleportation upon progressing far enough into the main quest, made compass a default feature (which seems to be the case in Silksong), gave charms meaningful purposes beyond being collectible filler, and put the Godhome ending behind doing just the new bosses separately.
ahhh but that betrays the lore part of the ending though
unless you mean just doing absrad?
You'd just do the Godhome unique bosses, get the lines from the dude between em, and then Radiance same as usual
leave the boss rush as an optional thing
Objective tracking would break the atmosphere Imo, you get world sense after getting through the black egg, that was pretty enough for me?
you can't expect me to remember what the White Lady said 3 days ago when I played
I'm not asking for a pointer on the map and arrow over my head
Just like a quest list?
practically what I said.
and what Cherry was told countless times during HK's development
On this part we'll have to agree to disagree, cuz a quest list sounds like shrinking the magic circle to me
The kingsoul thing is for sure really obscure, but that's like the farthest extent of it
Fragile flower, I don't remember if the alternative Grimm ending is marked on the map
Everything else is much more intuitive towards exploration- the kings brand icon is in your inventory, so revisting areas in the game would instantly clue you into it unlocking the abyss.
Alt grimm ending is marked on the map, yes
third grimmflame quest has 4 flames, one of which leads to brumm
Oh unless you mean the torch?
Yeah the boss skip flame is marked on the map, but the torch is not
Mannnn but that one should be intuitive, though? Brumm literally tells you to go back to where you summoned the troupe, which is very clearly the torch
A lotta lotta lot of the game's exploration and worldbuilding and mapmaking is dependent on the lore, and on you growing to understand the lore
So for people who don't care much about the lore I get that that might make things annoying- I have a bad memory so I can understand entirely missing out on cues and whatnot
I feel like you're looking at it as though you have to get 110% completion to enjoy the game. I didn't complete/find everything when I played, but I had a blast exploring and seeing how things change after backtracking
It is sorta a completionist's nightmare unless you're very good at the combat
yeah
Yeah this a hundred percent
There are also a lot of ways for people to track their own quests, like using the markers provided by Iselda, and the Dream Gates
Markers for inaccessible areas early-game, and then lore important areas late-game, and the Dream Gates to get back to them easier
the combat was not a problem
I did not want to do literally every boss and mini boss in the game for an ending. That is stupid
You didn't have to I guess
I think completionism took the fun out of some games like hyper light drifter for me. I'd have rather stopped after I had fun and remembered the good parts
hell, in order to get the new bosses, you had to unlock em via the Pantheon, too
Yeah, as a challenge
I mean, that ending isn't much different from the one without the pantheon. If it ruins the game for you that much just avoid it
Mhm
Hollow knight provides for different kinda of players
Hyper Light Drifter: the one where you use AutoHotKey for that one challenge
Lmfao yeah
and it sucked ass, because bosses served as a nice focal points in the overall story, a sort of breaks between the exploration
The only gameplay thing you'd be missing out on is AbsRad and PV, really
but being forced to do all of em, at once, one by one? Pure misery
ahh well I'm sorry you didn't have fun
Yeah that's totally fine
I enjoyed it
It's why it's in like a sectioned off area
I didn't wanna do those either, so I just didn't lol
Sisters of battle my beloved
You also don't have to do all the pantheons in order immediately
I definately wouldn't wanna fight mantis lords + right after starting
well yeah, I did em one by one
Did you take breaks? Leave godhome in between?
first three, relatively easy. The HK one was the beginning of the end
In a typical playthrough, you'd have the pantheons locked until you fought the specific bosses necessary
So you'd be forced to break and then come back once you explored more
Dyno's wrath
and then P5 was big poo poo doo doo
Well, like I said, I'm sorry you didn't enjoy it, but that doesn't make it a bad mechanic
it permanently stained my opinion of the game
"Hollow Knight sucks" reduced to "Pantheon Sucks," massive win for hollowcels
nah. Too much meandering back and forth in the main game, too.
ori isn't a metroidvania
Anyway I think you and I had similar experiences regarding exploration after a certain point
sure it is
you literally go back and forth, unlock new means of progressing through the story
But it's rather linear, no?
How often would you go back to the beginning area of the game?
Linear how? There's main quest and side stuff
Ori 1 didn't have a hub per se, Ori 2 had it, same idea as Hollownest
you also unlocked stuff in the hub as you progressed the story and did side quests
and yet, it wasn't annoying
I've never played ori so maybe I'm not the most well-versed, but a metroidvania is very exploration heavy, and you need to have a number of options as to where to go in the game
surely you've played Cave Story? Maybe Guacamelee? Blasphemous?
well, Blasphemous had plenty of issues
No, sorry.
I've played my fair share of metroidvanias
Alright, fair enough.
Then Hollow Knight is a metroidvania much more concerned with the freedom of exploration, which in turn makes things a lot less linear and, perhaps, more confusing
I personally didn't have an issue with any of the points you made, I thoroughly enjoyed the game
Did P5 annoy the heck out of me? 100%, did I like it? 100%
I think TC said that all endings are valid endings and that one is not better than the other, the P5 endings are cool, but not essential to the story imo
ahh well better is subjective
Yea, but I mean what can you do at that point
It's up to the individual to interpret and like/dislike the game
which is totally fine
yup
I think they locked some endings after the boss gauntlet as a means of motivating and rewarding players
What else could you put there that would just not leave you feeling sorta "That's it?" at the end of that hellhole
I'm sorry you found it so.. frustrating to play Zepp. Or I think you did, based on what I've read. Thank you for taking the time to share your point of view and I hope the next title will maybe alleviate some of those pain-points ❤️
What I recall from my first playthrough was getting absolutely lost and scratching my head on where to go, and I loved that because I dislike relying on guides and what not
the second was how every single boss whooped my butt. And yea, now there are strategy guides to every single aspect of combat/exploration/event, but that's not how the game is supposed to be played imo, and it's okay to miss stuff
One of the things I’m most excited about for Silksong is the exploration aspect, I want to get to know the lore through osmosis again
I wanna go in as blind as I can
I've been spoilt a little bit by the trailer, but I couldn't help myself 😦
I literally did not watch the trailer because I didn't want anything
all I know is Lace, that one guy (Seth?) and like. a button motif
I commend your iron will
All I know is there's two tune teasers from like a year ago and they both slap
for me p5 is by far the worst part of HK.
Fighting all the bosses back to back to back is imo not fun (especially with fighting practically all the bosses in the overworld and p1 - 4)
having a similar amount of bosses to p1 - 4, but them all be varients of existing bosses (eg. Sisters of Battle) would have gone a long way to make p5 not as unfun
I mean yea, I totally undersrtand, but it's not like it's mandatory content, it just has some silly bit of lore attached to it
Similar to clearing all bosses in radiant, it's crazy hard and dumb, but you don't have to do it
That was just Team Cherry's take on a boss rush mode
it has an achievement tied to it (unlike path of pain)
so people will feel like its psuedo required to get all achievements
I see, well.. idk
and proceed to bash their head against the metaphorical wall that is p5
p1 - 4 is fine as a boss rush
I gave up on getting all the achievements in Stardew because I could not be bothered with winning the arcade games
A bit unrelated, but I understand what you mean. 100% all achievements has this innate appeal
p5, combines both the ascended arenas and all 46 bosses back to back to back
so some bosses become inherantly harder on top of it being all bosses
looking at you markoth and no eyes
Unrelated but path of pain was fun
It was!
path of pain is fun ^-^
Kinda wanted more platforming challenges
Instead all I got was this cool sisters of battle
the pale court fan dlc has a platforming challange in it
Oh cmon there were 5 other bosses at least afaik
Yeah but I suck at them so is not that fun
alright lol
Speaking of platforming i just finished SANABI and simply moving around in that game feels super fun
Its not an exploration game. Its linear, has a very cool story, and the pixel animations are very detailed
looking at the steam page, it looks hella pretty
Uuu happy to hear that! I have it on my wishlist
Takes about...10 hours to beat? I had some afk time so it might be less
You could actually cheese Path of Pain with the honey charm
there ain't no cheesing Pantheon
I recently played Enter The Gungeon, cool game, very hard though, lol.
Didn't like ETG for the same reason I didn't like Isaac: nonsensical item descriptions.
Really? Huh… interesting…
Etg was fun but then I discovered rainbow mode and never looked back
Yes. I wanna know how good and useful something is by looking at it
take Hades, for example
there's inifinite soul totems all the way through, so its not really cheese
Oh, I get you.
it was pretty obvious that running poison attack on Arthur sword was a bad idea on account of poor attack speed
or how Zeus attack was nutty on the gun because of how fast it shoots
(opens up platinum god wiki as I play
)
in Isaac and ETG, you have to use 3rd party mods just to see what your items actually do
Wait, are you serious..?
I never knew that… kinda unfortunate actually.
Yeah those 2 are pretty much games to have a wiki open 24/7
Until you become obsessed enough to know most items
I mean, I just use the wiki for that, but I get what you’re saying.
(except isaac trinkets screw them)
You don't see that as problematic?
You want it integrated in-game.
I mean yeah it's absolutely annoying
yeah. Think of the boons compendium.
But nothing to stop playing
Most games are like that because people cannot be bothered to read imo
No, it’s definitely troublesome if you’re making up a strategy.
or it would ruin the aesthetic of the game
also, I hope we get a boons compendium in H2 from the start
(yet I read Hade’s codex all the time)
Guess I like reading then, they should still make a feature for those who would read.
The codex is an elegant solution to it for sure, but are you gonna sort through the hundreds of items that Isaac has? lol
Never played Isaac, so wouldn’t know… but yeah still.
You don't need to see every item at all times. Like, the item description mod for Isaac just tells you what the item does and its synergies with the items you have
Right but the mod is uggly as heck, imagine having all that info as a new player
but why not have the option of just opening the collection and typing the name of the item in the search bar to see what's what?
I was hoping ETG would tell you with its Ammonomicron, especially the quality of it too.
It's just a block of text on top of the screen, isn't it?
Oh cmon you know what i mean
BUT the wiki has that, WTH, lol!
what's another?
See, I understand that problem. I find that we get great guns, but me and my bro don’t know what they do until we use it.
You're telling me this is ugly? https://i.imgur.com/sMiSO1J.jpeg
yes lol
bruh
But you know what, I'm over it, you're right
it has the item icon, category, concise description. Short and straight to the point
Which is a slight issue when your trying to get a great synergy and build, so afaik, you literally have to utilize external components for the game’s items.
Which is kinda: impractical…
So yeah, I understand what you’re saying.
Like even both Risk Of Rain games did it perfectly even incorporating it into lore.
This is definitely uglier but ETG gets pretty complex out of the box. https://i.imgur.com/kLfO3FA.png
plus, the modding capabilities are wildly different
Wow, I wouldn’t get used to that…
I've seen enough ETG speedruns to be unphased, not to mention the invaluable usefulness of the mod.
and if you think that's bad, just wait till you get synergies
See, that what I mean! ETG could of done something better… but it doesn’t seem that it would have made it in anyway.
Anyways, have you played ROR?
Just so I can compare at least.
I've played the first one and hated it. The original ROR1
the level traversal was just not it
Weird, guess I am different.
But ROR2 is better though.
I've seen plenty of ROR2 and it seemed better in every way
I played it, really good.
I believe Risk Of Rain Returns tries to fix the original game, I’ve heard it’s better too.
You should try both if you have a PC and/or a console. I highly recommend ROR2 though, when you get the chance to play it and have an experience.
Buy it full price or on sale, and I believe it’s on switch as well.
my plate is already full with Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor, Rise of the Triad, and Turok 3.
Ok.. not sure what games those are…
Hi what game is this pls ?
Enter the gungeon
playing more of the cryptical path demo, the sacrificial rooms are funny with the "get a shield when healing" item
as they made it so the shield can be used to pay for the sac room
so you can use any natural healing room there is or build your own for easy items
also the "+30% dmg but double dmg taken" was much better than I thought
(you'll also probably run into the "heal 1 heart when building a 5 control or more room")
Overkill and animal abuse... english dub
helldivers 2 is surprisingly fun, those awful scripted trailers really did not do it justice
bought it to play with friends been having a lot of fun with it
it’s like destiny 2 but fun 🙃
the gameplay is super satisfying and it isn’t p2w or overtly grindy
man do i love metroidvania games with no map where you can't find anything
devs literally uploaded their own guide lmfao
maybe it's because they love the 90s so much and i'm just a poor bad gamer :(
blue fire. i will play dark souls once the first one ends up in a bundle or sth B-)
Question, what do y'all think of No Mans Sky? I've heard its good, but the only real frame of reference I've got is the Internet Historian video (which is 4+ years old now D:) Plus the game just got updated like a day ago, and is currently f2p for the next couple days
well
i haven't played it
but i've got nothing but respect for hello games for turning this game around
someone here said children of morta is a good coop game
is it good in single player mode as well?

'twas me
it's... alright?
although it gets a bit repetitive in singleplayer
co-op remedies that a bit by having a second player with whom you can mix and match different character sets and builds
and just goof around in general
i played like half an hour of it single player, then stopped because i thought i should do it multiplayer
hmmm maybe i should ask, is it good in co-op if you played it alone before?
probably hard to answer since it would depend on who you're playing with
but, like, does the story depend on not knowing it and being surprised?
