If you Dash-Strike, Zag will use up the Giga Cutter (on the frankly superior Explosive Upper) and then begin charging Flying Cutter.
Don't know why that never got "fixed" but it's a kinda-sorta-not-really anti-synergy.

Those timings seem insane to me! A friend of mine had his first victory in 23min. That's mind-blowing for me.
Does the time spend in menu to look for boon requisite count? 'cause I'm always exploring..

there's a lot of stuff that stops the timer
such as pausing, NPC rooms, boon selections, opening the codex menu
and then there's free rooms like shops or fountains where the timer is still going but you can just grab the stuff you want and move on to the next chamber

I remember Isaac with those gated optional boss to reach within -20min/-30min when it would take me double to reach that stage and then after trials and failure it became a piece of cake..
But in this game there is the meta scaling

it's also always best to go for miniboss tunnels than to go for normal tunnels when you're at styx since it's way easier and faster to clear out a single large entity than to deal with waves on smaller entities in a large, spaced-out room
