If you're using Zag or Hera bow, the special is usually a trap, don't use it unless you have doom/deflect on it

It's used in ||very high heat/post win challenges because one of them stops healing from normal sources||

So it's very good for learning and challenges

Keys arent that hard to get, and you run out of major uses for them once you unlock all weapons and the full mirror

If you dont have that yet, I strongly recommend it for learning.

Most important thing usually when you start Lightning Strike on anything is to get Static Discharge asap and pom that.

And if your Lightning Strike is common, you probably wanna put a couple poms on that, too.

On rail, though, if you're starting Lightning Strike, you're actually prioritizing Tidal Dash over Static Discharge. But you do want both.

hell mode is normal mode but harder, specifically
||enemies deal 20% more dmg, there's 20% more of them, they have 15% more HP, your healing is 25% less, and you don't get a shield if you take lots of dmg in a short burst||

If you dash before getting hit by enemy attacks you get the RR buff

There is an indicator for when it procs so if you use it you can get a better feel

Yeah you get mirror skills that buff damage, some directly some indirectly

use your cast to get boiling blood to focus down enemies

Charged Skewer and Exploding Launcher hammers are good for spear dmg

Put Aphrodite or Artemis in special

id say if you're struggling with projectiles from all the heads id recommend bring Athens's divine dash for deflection to get more breathing room, overall just keep playing the game and you'll figure out what's a better strategy

All of the shields are very good, though. You can block and you're invulnerable during Bull Rush, that's very strong.

Base shield without upgrades is very slow unless you get Charged Shot. Chaos Aspect has some similar issues but can make up for it in other ways if the build comes together.

For people struggling to complete their first run, I just completed mine about an hour ago. I used the bow that stored casts in the attacks and used trippy flare and urge to kill to do massive amounts of damage. I then run around avoiding damage until the casts are ready to be picked up and used again and repeated the stages. At the Final boss fight due to the amount of levels I had on each of the boones I was doing over 1.5k damage a hit, give it a go if your struggling

Hold you attack to charge it and after a bit it should be a brighter white color with a flash, that's your cue to release it, powershotting has a different sound and it does more damage

If you feel like you're struggling a lot and progressing very very slowly it's okay to turn it on, you can also turn it off later, it's basically damage reduction that increases each time you die so you can tank stuff better and eventually beat the game

What is the epic thing about ||Aspect of Chaos|| ? I mean it's awesome, but it feels like it's all thanks to shield's defensive style. It doesn't deal big numbers. I thought it's overpowered since it deals tons of damage while providing a lot of options to defend yourself againts damage.

apparently pre-release it used to be powerful because the extra shields fly out in a star around you instead of the fan now

but right now it's not amazing yeah. Thunder Flourish makes it quite decent if you get more Zeus boons which speaks more about Zeus boons than the weapon itself

well you can do a lot of damage with it but its mostly just stacking zeus boons. its not a very highly rated aspect by experienced players compared to other shields but its a very safe weapon and easy to clear with.

I personally like doing drunken flourish on chaos shield and going for curse of nausea with Ares and potentially low tolerance. The damage isn’t crazy but it does pretty good damage and is quite safe. It used to be a lot better but it’s still decent.

zeus special on chaos just feels so much better. the mini discs not bouncing kinda sucks for quickly stacking hangover on groups and you have to shotgun to get stacks on bosses

with zeus special you have both a lot of aoe and more consistent damage because of jolted

That is true. I know I don’t get much use out of low tolerance I just prefer getting aphro attack and curse of vengeance, and if it can still do something it’s whatever. Both proc priv status but weak lasts longer than doom so more benefit from it.

Fiery Presence for rail, since the special can't backstab.
Stubborn Defiance if regular rooms give you more trouble than bosses. If you keep your revive towards the end of an encounter, you can take some intentional damage and revive to gain more HP. Kind of like a 30% After Party.
Ruthless Reflex on the 4th fist, and on shield builds to gain more DPS
Stygian Soul for casts that hang out for a while and don't lodge in enemies: Ares, Dionysus, ||Demeter||

High Confidence for speedrunning to kill things faster than they can damage you
Priv Status if your build has a good way to apply 2 statuses
Gods' Legacy if your build needs multiple duos, or really, really needs a particular one
Fated Authority for Zeus stacking memes

Things you almost never touch:
Dark Regen - requires choosing darkness rooms to heal, very nerfed if your bosses still drop currency instead of darkness
Golden Touch - requires around 200 gold saved up at each area transition to beat out Deep Pockets. And if you're starting out, you should spend money to buy things rather than trying to galaxy brain the compound interest. If rando forces this on me I have to actively remember to pick the free reward door instead of the end shop
Olympian Favor - just bc Dark Foresight is so much better since it gives more boons, money, hearts, etc.

Chaos, Chiron, and Hestia require some more levels to be really good. So I'd recommend one of the others first until you have more Titan Blood.

Zagreus Aspects only require 5 to max out. 2nd aspects and hidden aspects require 15. 3rd aspects require 16.

With 3 Titan Blood, you could get a Zag Aspect to level 3.

Zag Shield, Zag Bow, and Zag Fists are all pretty good if you like those weapons.

Zag Sword, Zag Spear, and Zag Rail not so much. Well, Zag Rail is still powerful just simply because it's the Rail, but you'd get more out of unlocking Eris.

Hypnos is good (gives you gold), Skelly and Eury are defensive ones you use for the harder bosses, and then probably all the gods so you can focus on certain builds and such, altho yea Athena has a lot of defensive potential but I wouldnt just keep forcing her everytime, it’s good to change things up

Spear feels safe because of the range but it doesn't have as many advantageous hammers as the bow and the spin can leave you wide open for punishment. It's one of the last weapons I got comfortable with.

I got the problem that I cant manage to get through a run with another weapon then the shield.. I managed to play through a run with ares special and athene dash on the shield and since then Im trying basic weapon builds and the maximum I get to is hades' first phase and die there.. Until then I usually lose 2 of my 3 DDs.. I tried Poseidon sword with zeus cast and poseidon dash, ares special and Aphrodite attack on the spear.. Athene attack, Aphrodite special and athene dash on the twin fists.. I cant manage to get through the game.. I tried the bow aswell but forgot the build

I'd recommend using a key to respec your mirror upgrades, theres a lot of resources on that on this discord somewhere that explains why some mirror things are better

Ok guess I should be able to get them using the base versions. Btw, which keepsake's would you recommend for a "normal" run? I've been using poseidons keepsake to farm gemstones and a combo of athene and demeter for deflection and decay but those tend to result in a passive playstyle/run andI'd rather speed things up. I've seen people use the shields hidden aspect with powerfull cast boons. I assume that is one of the faster methods?

if you have the codex upgrade to check the boons of each god you can look at it see something you like to try for then plan for that so something like
tart: god keepsake to guarantee the god you want in your build
aspho: 2nd god you may need to complement the build, or if you already got it and still missing something from them
ely-styx a defensive keepsake as your build should at least be strong enough to not need another god

Right, I've been taking a lot of hits in ely so maybe use the broken spearpoint? I'll check the codex for a good zeus or artemis build. Seem to have some fun options

Spearpoint is decent, some endgame players use Skelly's tooth as an emergency DD, the usual keepsake is Eurydice's acorn since the boss hits pretty hard

i usually use earydice's acorn for Hades, I usually do not have much trouble with the ely bosses aslong as I have decent dmg output so I tend to use a 3rd god specific keepsake.

played about fifteen escapes so far, what is the strategy for thesus? I only managed to kill him once because of doom and lots of hiding but surely I could do it better

Killing Asterius first is usually easier for newer players, so do that.

As for Theseus, rush him down when he phases when he uses his Call because he won't be blocking there. So you can get a lot of damage in and hopefully finish him off right there or just have to pick off the last few bits of HP after that.

Asterius' attacks have decently long cooldowns, so attack him during those time

I find I take the fight too slowly which ends up in me getting chipped now and then over a long period of time, leading eventually to death

Learn to punish after the triple leaping attacks. He always jumps towards where you are, so it's easy to dodge by running towards and slightly to the side of where he's coming from. After the 3rd landing, get some good damage in.

Look and listen out for Theseus targeting you and try to keep the first part of the fight with Asterius towards the outside and behind pillars.

If you get a well before the fight, it's well worth looking for damage increase according to you build.

And you want to plan to have a call by then, but save it for just after Theseus goes super Saiyan.

It's just pretty difficult to get a high DPS build without sacrificing the survivability that you need as a new player. Keep upgrading your mirror and focus on doing better in the run before you get to Theseus and Asterius to have more HP and DDs for the fight. That'll probably do the most tbh.

Also, take the Evergreen Acorn into Elysium.

So after you grab a God Aid you will see a charge gauge under your health bar, it's also segmented, at a certain point you have a charge that we charge, usually referred to as a lesser call, you can use your Aid at that point, you can also wait until the Gauge is full and then use a Full Call

Yes, it fills up whenever you do damage and whenever you take damage, there are also other things that help you fill it up such as Gods' Favor from Hermes, and Smoldering Air, both of those fill it automatically based on some conditions and at certain rates

Fast hitting weapons do a better job at filling the god gauge usually, some effects also help a ton like Hangover because each tick adds to your gauge

Yes, you can unlock aspects later on which are different variations of the base weapon, for a total of 24 different aspects, you get those once you buy each base weapon for keys, then do a couple of runs then you should be able to interact with them

Yea Zag sword is quite underwhelming compared to Nemesis, it's okay to take Deadly Strike, usually people build it with Merciful End or other source of damage because the base damage of the weapon is very low, so you rely on other sources

I think I would prefer the Dash strike damage but you're the one playing, can judge the build better, both are fine picks tho

I finally try the fist for the first time and tbh, the fist is actually pretty good. I was surprised how far I got since I didn’t try to go far with the fist. That being said, I still love the standard spear.

its not that janky - deathless stand replenishes a use of death defiance, so if your slot isnt empty it wont give you the extra life. if it is empty, it will give you the death defiance and in the next room, stubborn defiance will replenish in addition to it. its as simple as that

yeah, because the sd+deathless/last stand thing is a bit of an exploit that was left in the game, i believe. but you cant replenish a charge if you dont have empty slots :P

it will still give you the longer imperviousness when you use your sd

or if you get last stand, you restore more health on sd, which is pretty good even if you dont get the extra dd from it

Something like that. The devs learned about the fact that you can get DDs from Lady Athena if you lose your SD before picking up the boon from some of us in Early Access. What their original intention was, no idea. All I know is they learned about it and decided to leave it in the game.

It could be a bit because of the timing but it's also worth noting that your dash only grants you iframes if it's an empty dash, if you dash then decide to attack middash then you're vulnerable and have no iframes anymore
