tbh I mostly took the most "rare" boon I could usually. I used the +15% gold per stage and stacked gold on the first few stages. Then I used charon's keepsake before Elysium. Spent some gold on Charon boons that helped me out. Made sure to buy some before going into Styx. If you're lucky you can go into the Hades fight with Charon items helping you out

||It's alright once you get the hang of it, you'll know what to expect and when to expect it, and you'll have a better idea of when to attack and when to run away, trying to get a bit of dmg in at every opportunity you find might not be the best play, and can get you in a way worse situation if its a bad call, so yea just play safely, get to know the moveset of both phases, get used to the timing of dashes to avoid taking hits and so on... And it'll be all good ||

i find the ||first phase much more bothersome than the second due only due to his spawning of enemies and the fact that he is invulerable while doing so. The difference between the time to kill a few flying skulls and four shield bearers is a huge one, while the second phase is more consistent.||

and watch out for spin attack, make sure you're ready to dash out or bull rush/shield up

The only thing you get in the beginning is the map that you see between chambers (remember you can just quit and restart a run if you grabbed the wrong one). Eventually you unlock a better way to keep track of bounties.

to be completely honest dont worry about optimability or duos when you first start the game. meet all of the gods, find the one you like, and try to have fun with builds. but if you want my genuine opinion athena is an amazing god for survivability and has some fun duos like merciful end with ares. aphrodite is just chunky in terms of damage(same with artemis(also some fun duos like mirage shot with poseidon or deadly reversal with athena, splitting headache with dio is also fun)), and zeus is pretty fun. besides that its dependent on how you play and what you like. i personally dont like dionysus at all and thus have a negative view on almost everything he gives but but some people swear by him. so just experiment and try to find stuff out on your own :3

When I played the game I started off with the sword and decided I would first beat the final boss with only the sword before moving on to other weapons

It definitely taught me how to time evading attacks and how to watch all the stuff flying at the screen and what stuff is actually gonna hit you

I haven't tried enough of the other weapons to have a good opinion on which weapon I like the most; unsurprisingly I like the sword the most right now lmao (the special is probably my favorite of the weapons I've tried so far)
I tried the shield and it feels so slow; it's okay (I think by the nature of the weapon it would naturally be slower)
The lance is nice, but the special isn't as satisfying; the dash attack feels nice though
The fists are nice too, but the special has a long cooldown period where you're more vulnerable (if you don't get any of the upgrades for it)
Haven't tried the ranged ones but I think I'll probably enjoy them since they feel like they'd be safer, but the dark thirst thing hasn't chosen any of them yet.

The fist's hadouken upgrade for the special (which turns it into a projectile and takes away the post-attack cooldown time) is pretty silly and great though

it feels like it turns into a bow that also lets you hit things fast close up

Regardless all of them do "feel" very different and are still fun to use
