and the ||satyrs|| that throw ||poison darts|| are just a matter of timing
Is talking about the enemies in act 4 count as a spoiler?
idk
I think it's fine to talk about Styx enemies - the only things that need to be spoilered are the final boss and anything that's unlocked after beating them
ur correct, i was just being extra "nice", but i guess that doesn't make sense
Is there a way to tell how many titan bloods ive put into each weapon?
you can back it out by how many levels you have and the wiki
Aaah oh god Alecto no not the beyblades
I got the leaping special upgrade for the sword and I am definitely not good enough at positioning to use it against a boss
Learn to bait her into traps when she starts doing a barrel roll
You can make her kill herself. Hilarious and effective
Yeah I should have just focused on keeping myself alive and let her kill herself
Got spoiled by a bunch of spear/bow runs where you can mostly move freely without leaving your attack range
Yup
If you got your first wins by Playing Lame/Winning Game using spear and bow theres no shame in that. I cheesed my first clear with doom on bow special
But eventually it’ll come time to outgrow those safer training wheels and see what melee builds can offer. All in time. You’ll be fine
I’ve had some success with the fists as well, but I tend to lose health I didn’t need to from mispositioning
Fists are my personal favorites
Muhammad Ali said all that needed saying about how to play fists. Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee
Let your mobility itself be your weapon
The fists are really good, yeah! I like the standard flurry attack more than the specials but having that dash-special is nice too
Fun fact: you know chaos curses? Know how they can fall on your special and damage you?
Fists dash special ignores that 😁
Ooh that is nice
The regular one will still hurt, mind you
But you should basically always be dash-specialing if you’re going to hit the special button
Also know that you can chain dash special directly into special
For a double uppercut combo
Major endlag on that one though :/
I’ve ended up trying the double-special thing due to boon rolls but it felt pretty static/committed which kind of defeats the utility of the fists
Yeah. Use with caution and as a finisher only. Can be nice, it is technically the fists highest burst DPS option, but a big commitment
If I wanna be mashing Q I have the Chiron bow for that
One thing I run into is not knowing when to stop dodging, once you start hitting that spacebar it’s easy to waste time or overextend by keeping it up too long
Bow + rapid fire really is easy mode huh 😂
Bow is hilarious with hammers
Some weapons have great hammers, but bow truly has the goofy busted fun hammers of the whole crew
Twin Arrows plus the rapid fire hammer it amazing
Does buying a cosmetic go towards completed house contracts?
Yes
Tyty
Would y’all suggest Persuasion or Authority of the two Fated mirror options? Either one seems really good for any run so I can’t decide which to use
Either will serve you well
There isn't exactly a consensus
But Authority is slightly more popular
(But doesn't mean it's strictly better)
So divided but probably persuasion, got it
use both and see which one you prefer
Haha, will do.
it's a great weapon, but it's all you
Tragically it seems you cannot deflect a very large rock dude just kind of landing on you
meanwhile you can deflect a spear being lunged straight towards you
did you try the hammer of triple dash attack with poseidon?
is it better to focus on one weapon until the first clear
or is farming darkness (using the weapon with the purple glow) more efficient overall
I'd say focus on one weapon until at least the first clear, you'll probably get enough darkness regardless.
First one, then the other
Your first job is to build skills and confidence enough to clear the game. Your second job is to sharpen those skills, learn to apply them to every weapon in the game, and farm materials
So find the weapon you love most and make it your bedrock. Practicing with one weapon will let you develop the muscle memory you need to fight with it, which will take mental load off of fighting itself and let you start learning the things you really need to about the game
After the first couple clears though, it’s time to leave the nest and start training to earn your real big boy pants. At that point, purple weapon for a long, loooooooong time. It will get you more resources quickly, and it will make you a much better player without you realizing it
At that point you should be switching over to farming for a long while too. It will throw an extra little weight atop your training set not being able to buy things in shops during a run, but again you will end up a better player for doing it
I just followed the darkness XD
Keeps me on my toes lol
Never a bad strat. That’s not the wrong way to start at all if you can hack it. If you struggle, get comfy with one and work from there
the base sword sucks lol
do the darkness strat
you'll get experienced with all the weapons
and will find out your fav weapon
Yeah I wouldn’t recommend your bedrock being sword if you go that route
Everything but sword and fists can be played pretty safely with the base aspects at first if you need something to rely on
To tailor this to you, how many attempts in are you? Do you feel you’re progressing well, or are you struggling with anything in particular?
Im 28 attempts in, i feel like im progressing well with the bow, but others not so much
But sometimes i feel like im skipping on learning the enemies' patterns due to the safety of the bow
How far have you reached? Do you make it there with any consistency?
Pretty much, i reached the end boss 2 times already with it
No, you’re just learning how to adapt to enemy patterns exclusively using the bow right now. Later you will see that these patterns are different for other weapons
But the knowledge you gain now with the bow will always be pertinent to your bow play. So it’s not a bad thing
Honestly you’re doing fine
(the enemy attacks arent different, its just that you'll feel them as different when you play with other weapons)
I would say you’re on a perfectly average track
Thank you for the translation ❤️
lol
I need if sometimes, I acknowledge it openly
Oh, i guess that makes sense. The weapons do play differently after all
keep playing and make sure youre looking at the final boss' attack patterns, and dodging them
dont be hungry for damage
This is good to know
patience is key
Where you are right now you’re starting to hit sparks
You’re making the final boss
One or two of the cylinders are starting to catch fire
You really aren’t far from breaking through, statistically
Ah, im pretty guilty with this one. Duly noted
You’re pretty close to my track if I had to guess
this worked for me, YMMV, but i loved the bow early on too
Bosses can always kill you quicker than you can kill them. ALWAYS.
Dodge before hitting
and i was amazing with it
If they can’t hit you, you can’t die
killed the boss the 2nd time i reached him with the spear
Learn to fight like a pacifist. Tie both hands behind your back and survive in the ring for 2 minutes as practice
This will really, really help you
Then start punching back
Was this like a thing where you suddenly found your perfect weapon?
I'll be doing this then, to learn the patterns at least
i used to not use any other weapon than the bow, which was bad
Where you are it’s your choice. I leave it to you. If you really love one weapon use it to build your confidence to its utmost. Get your first couple clears and then start farming and changing weapons to learn
On the other hand, you’re probably good enough to start changing weapons now
you talk like someone who hasnt used the chiron bow
Was about to fall into this when i literally atarted
It will likely delay your first clear, but that’s all it will do
my top weapons so far are fists, shield & if I really want a ranged then the gun
And you’ll earn and learn more in the mean time
well, I haven't unlocked it so
exactly
I've only played 55h
my priority has been Than
but max chiron is insane
Yeah Chiron lvl 1 is a trap
well ambrosia and titan blood are different currencies
Only buy Chiron when you have 15 blood in the bank to 100% it
I'll be sticking to the bow until my first clear then. Hopefully it does build my confidence. Thank you!
Don’t see her when she’s ugly
I meant that as in I've been just neglecting weapon aspects XD
Don’t do that to our beautiful girl
I only remembered they existed.. yesterday?
It’ll sully her image in your head
or the day before that lol
Yeah those are mega important lol
I was just trying to idk
I was blinded by Than
now I've slowly started to try out weapon aspects XD
though slowly for me means I fully upgrade it before I use it 🤔
I loved the extra ammo I got on the rail - was really fun when I got seeking fire boon that run 😁
Design ofc
Than is one of my fave characters XD
loll
I just wanted to keep talking to him
I’m sorry but there is nothing more cursed in this game than Than_Front.jpg
He’s a lovely brooding nightmare otherwise
Kind of bad at his job frankly, but sweet in a distant way
lol
whats that?
the than smile?
He is creepy as hell when he turns frontways in his portrait lol
Hey, I just got the game and am in about my 15th run and having some trouble with megra. ANy tips?
thanatos’s smile is perfectly symmetrical
oh no
its very scary
ironic that the scariest thing about death incarnate of all things is his smile
really let you see into why these mortals are so cripplingly scared of him
i'd be terrified too if thanatos came staring at me with a "perfectly symmetrical" smile
the reason mortals are scared of dying is not because of the pain but than’s smile
Spend a bit of time watching her attacks to learn the tells. You can block (if using the shield) or destroy the projectiles with attacks
he just smiles at you the entire time he escorts you down to the underworld
Idk I use a switch
idk i use keyboard and mouse
I use a PS4 Dualshock controller, works pretty well.
I think the secret best is actually an arcade stick for this game 🙈
But I haven’t tried that to verify it
Any good controller will be fine
Speaking of, anyone seen that Hades arcade cabinet someone on Reddit made?
Hades would be a surprisingly good coin op arcade game

How do i unlock ||the 7th heart of Sisyphus? Do i simply talk to him? I had though the locked heart meant i needed to give Ambrosia.||
Complete his favor
In his case, that means ||spending a few diamonds to nullify his contract||
Is there a way to figure out what his favor is?
As in if you didnt tell me how does one find out?
Zag eventually asks if he can do something about Sisyphus's situation
Gotcha
@grim iris - all of those for any character will happen with time. Discussion will turn that way, you'll get contractor updates if needed, etc.
Awesome ty
Bow seems terrible. Its so slow
And i think its the only weapon you cant just tap Y to attack, you have to hold it down for a second first
Bow takes the most input skill of all the basic weapons to make it good
Dont feel too bad if it doesn’t click for you immediately
It gets better
Im ok with it up to ||hades|| but then god its so slow
To learn proper form with bow, practice always dash attacking and almost never regular attacking, and practice your powershots
Those two things together make a veeeeery large difference in how effective bow is or isn’t, especially base/zag bow
Even dash attacking feels slow because you still have to hold down Y
Time your powershots by observing your charge meter on the ground. When it flashes briefly, that’s your cue to release
Im pretty good with powershots
Try to do whatever you have to to your play, but try to play entirely around dash attacking and powershotting off of that
With special use as needed
That’s basic good form for Bow
Ok
Takes a little getting used to
Power shot takes muscle memory
And definitely the most techskill-intense of the starting weapons to make work well at all
I was using ||chiron|| but i havent levelled it up much yet
But very, very powerful. Dont give up on Bow yet, just file it away in the back of your memory for a while
Bow is probably the latest-game weapon there is between its different mechanics and expensive upgrade tree
But the argument for best weapon in the game (by the best players in the game) is a 3 way brawl between users of different aspects of bow, fists and gun
so take that as you will
I like the fists. Theyre fast
I like the gun too
Gun is great
Zag aspect gun is a cheap, effective murder machine for 5 blood
Eris is better, but zag does lots of the same work for 1/3 the price when you’re starting out
1/3. I didnt realize the next aspect was so much more
Mmhmmm
All zag aspects are like that. 5 blood to max
All other named aspects are between 15 and 16
I wasnt able to get the hermes boons recommended for it tho
And unfortunately zag spear is kind of the worst aspect in the game
yeah hermes and zag sword are nutty
||Chaos is the best god||
||I like demeter.|| Mainly just for her design but i like her personality too
||i feel like chaos is the strongest god tbh||
they're beyond the term ||god|| though
||YES why the call chaos "them" but it's only 1 person||
Damn it is? Ive been having some fun with it. Whats the best?
||Chaos is the originator of all things in greek myth - aka no gender pronoun really as they're neither male nor female =w=||
||Chaos came before everything else||
Though zag shield is near and dear to my heart, and my personal favorite zag weapon
I play zag shield when it’s time to turn my brain off and have fun with this game
I have 2 clears with the shield
||So he came before even the gods ?||
Being able to block virtually anything and dash from far away, through an enemy, and then farther away still
It makes it easy lol
I literally never touch the block button
||yes.. from chaos came the titans & the gods are the children of the titans||
Blocking does not exist on the shield as far as I’m concerned
@fresh current what do you recommend for the spear then?
But I never begrudge those that do
||Chaos is a primordial being||
For aspects Achilles is the universal choice
||SO THIS MEANS THATCHAOS IS THE GRANDFATHER OF ZAG ?||
There are some hidden spear zealots, but Hidden Spear is Git Gud: The Weapon
Ah ok
So I don’t advise it for new players
||no, that would be Kronos - Titan of Time||
Cool ill try it out ty
||in the messed up family tree that is the greek pantheon they might be likened to something of a greatgrandparent I guess? - it's so complicated||
||Is there anything special left to do after beating hades the first time? I'm not sure how i feel that ive seen every area besides erebus and beaten the final boss but dont have the full story yet. Im worried there wont be anything special left to do to get the ending... I dont want spoilers, but is there any more to the game besides heat levels now?||
||story?||
||but the story just reveals itself as you continue to beat hades however many more times + give nectars and talk to characters right? Like the ending will just kind of show up at some point without anything particularly grand or new before it?||
||is chaos a bad guy ?||
||there is a post-ending story that you have to unlock stuff for, but if you’ve already unlocked it then idk 🤷🏻♀️ ||
||I’d say Chaos is Chaotic Neutral||
When a msg refuses to add a spoiler to itself
Stupid spoiler tags
||It’s mostly story. Not sure what level of spoilers you want.||
Just unlocked ability to use titan bloods to upgrade weapons, think I’m going with the spear.. can anyone recommend good aspect/builds
I was thinking the aspect of zagreus sounded good.. and maybe Zeus? But not sure who to try and duo with? Or if I’m completely thinking wrong lol
With Zag Spear @quartz jungle ?
Haven’t chosen aspect yet but was thinking maybe going zag spear:: don’t know if it’s any good tbh
I would say that most aspects/weapons are all 'good' but it does kind of depend on your play style a bit - which can change the more time you put in toward experimenting with Duo combos
Not deliberately trying to give you a non-asnwer
Personally, I have a lot of fun with Poseidon/Zeus, focusing on the Special.
But it takes a lot to get that build off the ground.
Poseidon/Zeus is also good, I use that combined with Chaos Shield
Off the top of my head, though.. I would say that pretty much all of the Zag aspects are very viable. I prefer to use Zag shield, bow, spear, and fists - for example.
Now that's not to speak towards.. like.. success. Once you get into Heat runs and such, things change.
Poseidon cast with the cast-loading bow is great
See, stuff like that.. I haven't gotten that down. I've got about 200hrs in games and all of the casty aspects just feel.. off to me - there's this extra step for initiation.. -To be fair, though, I primarily play with keyboard and mouse which can make things feel awkward or different.
Regardless @quartz jungle - Its not a bad idea to just save your blood and continue to focus on feeling the weapons out. I play Hades for the fun of playing Hades - so while certain weapons/aspects may not be as viable as others, I took my time to figure out what was fun for me first and then journeyed on toward experimentation.
Yeah I think I’m going to save, no point in burning up blood just yet. Really want to get my first escape finished but I doubt a few levels in an aspect will be the clincher lol
I wouldn't think so. If it helps at all, when I first started.. the shield was probably my least favorite weapon but I do believe it's the weapon I got my first clear with.
@quartz jungle - fwiw, 5 blood to max Zag aspects. ~15 for the rest.
Oh man I hadn't even considered that - that's an incredibly solid point.
@fresh tide - cast builds can be weird, but poseidon sword lets you use your cast as your main damage then the weapon is just for a quick reset or applying boons.
Oh that may be a good starting point for me.
Idk where Hera bow really shines. Haven't figured out a way to make it work in a way that grabs me.
For sword though, you just have to look at which cast you want to focus. Artemis Exit Wounds boon is also very good. The other gods generally have a cast-related boon that augments them (Demeter gives you +dmg & resist when you're empty, for example)
Poseidon's cast is probably my favorite for that.
Well I'll have to give that a go sometimes - thank you very much for your input there, my friend
Hestia is really fun for me
How many runs did it take you guys to get your first clear? I’m on 12 or 13 now and I am getting to Elysium quite easily but getting sucked by the chariots and spear guys lol
Around 35 for me
12 for me. Each boss (incl. final) took me a couple tries to get past.
I think 50ish or so for me?
Theseus & Asterius the most 😑
How do I unlock the third-to-last song on the list? It's not available at the house contractor.
||im assuming its unseen ones?||
Took me around 25. If you're dying to the chariots and stuff, id recommend just running from them until they slow down/stop chasing you. Then you can get some damage onto them
it took me 25 because i had no idea how to make a decent build and just went by the pinned guide here
you know ||extremer measures||?
ah I see.
hey sup yall so i got hades yesterday and i wanted to know what is the best weapon in ur opinion i currently have every weapon and i do like more than the other the shield and the fists
So you prefer fists and shield?
I feel like it’s difficult for anyone to proclaim anything as best what with the level of RNG you experience throughout the game. Some of the most effective, op builds rely on a particular hammer or boon or duo
It's mostly your own preference for what feels comfortable. The bow is my favourite
Yeah. For me - I really thoroughly enjoy the gameplay of the fists. It’s probably my favorite. How viable/effective is it later on as you play... eh it can get pretty dicey. I consistently fail my runs using the fists. But I’m okay with that because they’re so fun.
Overall, it does seem that the weapons and aspects with range have greater potential and longevity as you progress in difficulty - for sake of safety if nothing else.
So for me, fists and spear are my two favorites I think. As far as ranged goes.. I like the bow better than the rail.. but I’m better with the rail than I am the bow.
u guys are good, it took me 40 or 45 tries to get my first clear
cause i played hyper aggressively
Saaaame
Never played a roguelike before so I didn’t know what I was doing. So I proceeded to just hack away like it was Diablo...
i love this genre, still sucked hard at first
i only made it to chamber 10 on my first run
after I reset my game I did beat the game on my 13th attempt and am currently on a 10-win streak
Oh very nice
I haven’t dared to a new save yet, I want to finish all the contractor stuff I’ve put off
Do you get anything for starting a new save or is it ok to go on the same one until you finish everything?
i went from epic to steam and wanted to reset for the achievements and the "proper 100%", i also wanted to start from a fresh save to see how I handle stuff after i've had over 200 escape attempts
didn't go as smoothy as I thought it would xD
I got my first escape before 10 attempts B)
ur good
once i've finally 100%ed this save file i might make a hell mode save
I have experience with roguelikes so i got the hang of the game pretty quickly
i don't know how u guys do it, i couldn't even reach styx without maxing out the mirror talent that gives u 50hp
after that it was a smooth sailing
i have over 100+ hours on gungeon and it still took me 25 runs to beat up ||dad||
then again i'm kinda more used to not having any permanent upgrades
True
It gets easier the more mirror stuff you have
3 death defiances is all you need to win every run
except for ||32 heat|| where stubborn defiance is optimal
i've always ran SD, as soon as I could afford it
Shut
the pat boon is just too good
yes, anything from who the final boss onwards
which would technically make ||Demeter|| a spoiler, but im not sure on that one
touch of styx dark is so good
||dem|| is a spoiler in this channel yeah
good, ||she|| was a nice surprise
i guess the only exception is ||weapon aspects||, right? ppl seem to mention them here all the time
Except the hidden ones I believe yes
sure
Havent unlocked any myself 😭
the initial conditions are not super straightforward, if u haven't looked them up
I have not
I havent looked or asked about anything because I wanna experience the game to its fullest by myself 😈
Exceot how the heck to use the Calls because I did not understand them at first
that's what I did, it was great
you know what's funny? At first I thought that to get someone's call, you need to get a dialogue with them saying something like: Yo here's my call Zag. Found out you can just take it from the selection later xddd
Ikr
And it doesnt properly explain how to use it or how it works
I didnt know the charge disappeared every room
Or how to fill it
i've played fighting games with meter, so it made total sense to me
Not to me 😔
Also with my poor eyesight I didnt even notice the meter at the bottom at first
that remind me of Clashes in Injustice 2
how it would drain your ult
iirc, they didn't drain ur meter, u had to bet with it
i think its a little counterintuitive to only fill it up to 25% when theyre introduced but you can find out that it fills up by hitting enemies in the next room
and even if you dont notice it, often times "Press X to use call" pops up next to zag
is this game worth buying for 35$ aus from a non bias pov
yes
why
i was gifted the game on the Epic store, played it for nearly 40 hours
bought it recently on Steam at full price
u just get a lot of content for the money
the combat is fluid and extremely satisfying
there's no other roguelike quite like it
the storytelling is great
does it compare to dead cells and is it worth getting if my performance won’t be great like my pc performance
dead cells used to be my favorite roguelite
also how many hours will i be able to play it for
because of Hades i can't go back to dead cells
yes
i loved dead cells because of its combat, Hades makes dead cells look like an alpha game in that department
wow ok
so how many hours will i get in the game
keep in mind i’m not very good at video games and especially pc as i plau console
it really depends on how good u end up being, but at least 40-50 I would say
i play the game with a DS4 controller on PC, always have, it's great with a controller
40-50hrs at a minimum, if u like a challenge u'll get a lot more out of it
If you’re used to Xbox, most Xbox controllers should be plug and play for pc
so is DS4 with this game
yes
it's personal preference
alright cool
and is it still worth getting if my pc performance isn’t the besy
i use a laptop
that’s meant for school
first make sure u can run it
or get it, try it and if the performance is less than ideal - refund
that's what the steam '2 hour' policy is for, more or less
being from aus that play time thing doesn't matter as much
oh ok, do you reckon it would go on sale in the rumoured lunar sale next week
i’m also from aus!
something something Australian Consumer Laws
wait does that mean it doesn’t apply
yeah, kinda
does that mean u can always refund?
oh damm
in aus
no, in aus if you have the game you can get a refund outside the steam 2 hour limit thing
but there's limitations to that, mostly regarding the why you're getting a refund
if you're not sure, wait for a sale!
Most modern hardware should run it fine, even if at somewhat reduced settings. I wouldn't say it's a very intensive game, even with a lot of enemies and effects. - It is generally recommended to play with a controller. I play with keyboard and mouse, personally but it has its faults
when would a sale be
i think there's a sale soon
Sure, hit me
shouldn't there be a "minimum specs" in the steam page?
intel pentium silver N5000 1.10, UHD 605 and 8gb of ram
there is but idk how that compares to mine honestly
yeah the only thing is the min specs don't specify what resolution and frame rate they're targetting
neither the recommended specs for that matter
Okay.. wait wait.. well let me ask you.. What OS is it running?
windows 10
Should be fine, man
lets go
do you play games on your laptop?
what do you play
if you can run minecraft, you can run hades no prob
I can run Hades on a 2011 macbook, which sports about the bare minimum requirements for hades
its not a taxing game. most indie games dont require a monster pc to play
Yeah, you could run Terraria.
lets go
from my experience the fps can be painfully choppy but far from unplayable
I'd say that generally most modern laptops, even the budget ones, can run games like those you've mentioned. Not only are they mostly low performance or otherwise not overly hardware intensive games but developers do a better job these days balancing the load between CPU and GPU instead of hard hitting one.
games that look bad > games that look good
actually.. are you using java or bedrock? @wind wigeon
im really glad i can run hades and terrariam, thanks everyone for helping me out today and java
im going to go watch anime bye
lol.. if you can run java, you're good
yeah java runs like crap
only with bad and settings down but yeah
its not that it runs like crap
badlion
it's the fact its on java
which uses a lot of memory
and can be extremely taxing
although just one thing i have 128mb of video ram and the min is 1gb will that be a problem
possibly
Uh.. yeah.. that can be a problem.
It's kind of the same thing as RAM for your system but specified to your GPU. It's in large part the massive increase in VRAM in GPUs over the last 5 years that has kinda paved the way for the 4k gaming world.
so do i need it for performance or does it make my game look better?
You need it for performance. Which means that it's not necessarily a deal breaker...
There was a time when we played games on hardware that wasn't up to snuff - which generally meant it would heavily tax the rest of your system. But it was a norm and manageable at that time.
so really try it and see if it's playable, the minimum/recommended specs list isn't reflective of every possible system config
Exactly
yeah im waiting for next weeks sale but when that happens i will
well that should be all thanks again
Just a fair warning, Hades is a cheap game as it is so it's likely to only go down to $20 from $25
so about 25$ AUD
Ah right right right, forgot AU..
unfortunately
has it ever really gone below $20 usd?
it may of during the christmas
No - I don't think it ever will.
idk tho
It just wouldn't make sense.
nvm
during the steam sale i think
Pyre is still $20 right now, for reference.
Bastion is finally down to $15
So no, I wouldn't see Hades going below $20 any time in the near future. People gotta be paid and we have to fund the next endeavor, I hope.
But chin up @wind wigeon - it's totally worth at least trying to see if your system can run it.
Yes, precisely.
No no, I'm just saying that the sale won't be substantial that's all.
ohhh
But I did forget about the AUD conversion and all. So it would be more worth while, perhaps.
even if its like 5 or 10 id rather that
im getting it so i dont see why i wouldnt wait for a sale
Yeah, absolutely fair. - I was fortunate to receive a copy for free from a friend. I'd totally understand waiting for a sale, I'd generally do the same.
thats pretty lucky, hes a nice friend and yeah, well alright cya
See you around, my friend
yeah see ya around
im learn a bit slow at first so uhh 34 or some i think
i think it was my 20th or 19th run
i play like an idiot so it took me a while
when I open the boon menu, what are these golden pins for? what do they do
they highlight boons when your cursor isn't hovering over them, it's good for showing off your boons during a good run or after a run @eager trench
i bought hades for 20 bucks in december i think? during the sgg sale
btw if yall are looking at prices and what not for the steam version (im not sure if another exists), you can google {game} steamdb to see how low it has ever been (ps currently the lowest was 20%)
I'm trying to get better with builds not centered around deflect dash
I wish I didn't start off using it haja
Deflect is good for learning dash timing.
tbf nothing wrong with selecting deflect dash, its one of the best dashes
you can just focus on not building around it, rather try out other builds (and if you see deflect dash, lucky run)
divine dash is usually something that just adds defensive capablities to your build, unless going for merciful end
so you usually dont build around divine dash per say
I legit lol @ the whole Lernie bit
And yeah, but getting used to it first got me into this playstyle that doesn't mesh well with any build that doesn't have it lol
while divine dash is the most defensive dash, another strong dash is tidal dash which is on the more offensive side, so you may want to try that out to try different playstyles
Yeah I tried tidal recently and really liked it. Its much stronger.
stronger is subjective but it definitely does more damage and is suited to an aggressive playstyle
works nicely with rail
probs not on actual melee weapons, like the fists in particular
it deals good damage and the knockback prevents enemies from being able to hit you. not bad!
aight
Its good with anything really if you get the rupture boon
Tho it is a little annoying chasing foes down w melee lol
I've been chasing merciful end for like 3 runs cause I wanna try thr combo
And I just can't get it lol
For merciful end, to trigger doom, do you need to actually deflect an attack, or just hit them with an ability that could deflect?
Actually hit them
apply doom > hit target with deflecting ability that deals damage
basically anything except for call works
is cursed slash a great weapon change?
i mean if you don't wanna beat the game
my other chocies are piercing wave and super nova
Piercing I guess
God damn dude ||hades|| is so much harder than any of the rest of the game
||it gets worse||
you dont need to deflect anything, just hit them with anything that deflects
the only boon in the game that has an effect that actually requires you to "deflect" something is deadly reversal
actually brilliant riposte too i guess
Its kinda frustrating to be able to easily make it to the end every time and then it's such a spike :s
making cursed slash work requires too much work for a clear
unless you somehow got 9000 rerolls, it'll never be consistent
Okay, thanks!
What so deflect damage doesnt require you to actually deflect?
Yeah but other than ME
Like divine flourish, the deflect damage hits even if you dont deflect anything?
Hey, does anyone know why I seem to get darkness instead of the usual reward (titan blood I think?) for beating the first boss? I really want the normal reward because I wanna try different weapon aspects
oh, no, in that case deflect damage comes from deflecting
Right ok
If you already beat him once you only get darkness after that if you are using the same weapon on the same heat level
is this your first run?
oh
before you unlock the heat system, you can get titan blood with each weapon
and aspect (i think)
k thanks
What were the first build you guys were able to do ||hades|| with
I dont think different aspects give blood
Cause I beat once. Got there like 70000 times tho
Zag shield with ares on special and ||demeter on dash|| iirc
i think it was a chiron hangover build
I beat them whith some garbage shield of chaos build. 😄
looking at this image now i'm so viscerally pissed at myself for not getting divine flourish instead
i had the perfect setup for merciful end
Sigh.
spoiler the above please @marble hill
the final boss is a spoiler in this channel 🙂
Yee im staying out of here til i beat it tbh
Victory screenshots belong in #h1-victory-boasting
a wise decision @leaden whale. Although spoilers are moderated here (as in, this channel), things do slip from time to time until a mod catches. frankly, mods have lives too and can't watch this discord 24/7
I did the same thing.
I was about to ask a question that was a light spoiler too so meh
I prob beat it today
You can ask and just put it in spoiler tags
ME build on Fists with Doom on attack, deflect on special and dash, and Dire Misfortune to add more damage and the boss’ health go bye bye
I cheesed him with doom on either the spear or bow special my first time, I forget which 🙈
Play Lame Win Game
Let's say I'm on || heat level 5 (which means I did all Bounties to level 5), and I'm doing level 10. Will I get all previous bounties (from 5-9) in retroactive manner ||?
Also, is attack Damage effect Dash attack ?:-)
no
the game will only ever dispense rewards one level at a time
You can only get 100% of a single run's rewards over a single run, never a % more
completing at a higher level than necessary will just cycle the counter to the next eligible level until everything is caught up
I see. Thanks!
hello
Talos fist with plume. I forget the specifics, but I was flying (relative to previous attempts) and picked up rush delivery as well so I was getting more damage than ever before by a wide margin. I think it was attempt 49.
hi guys, im sorry i have to ask this but would anyone happen to have a spare account with hades on it, im trying to see if i can run it and i dont wanna buy it and then not be able to play, im from aus so idk if the return thing works for me, sorry if im being annoying
You can check the requirements for the game if you haven't done that yet
Can't you refund it if it doesn't work anyways?
im from aus so idk if that still works
https://store.steampowered.com/steam_refunds/ check this, Steam has a 2 hour policy
i think theres something called australian consumer law
Oh? What sets it apart? I have difficulties seeing that return policy not being able to work anywhere in the world as long as you can get a refund somehow (maybe to your steam wallet? idk)
I mean, worst case scenario you put money into your steam wallet if you can't runt he game at an acceptable level
good luck :)
I have 268.5 hours into it, approaching to be my most played on steam, it's a good game I think
I agree
Yeah I guess it's pretty ok
Australian consumer law in a nutshell is, if the thing don't work as advertised you're entitled to a refund
yeah it should actually be easier to get a refund in a australia
or rather, you should be able to get one in more situations
I have a question I noticed keepsakes can rank up but I have a 3 star rank and the stats don't seem to have changed at all Is there any benefit for gaining ranks with keepsakes ?
https://hades.gamepedia.com/Keepsakes The stats do get better when you rank them up
Keepsakes are items that can be equipped to obtain some sort of benefit during an escape attempt. They are acquired by giving Nectar to various characters. Hades is unique as in his keepsake is only available after finishing the main storyline. If you give him any Nectar before doing so you will not receive the keepsake.
A keepsake can be equipp...
okay yeah it was harpy feather duster the values of the higher ranks were so low i didn't realize it had increased what does this game have against healing XD
yeah... harpy feather duster is not one of the best keepsakes imo
The healing thing tho is kinda starting to turn me off If you compare Hades to say Dead Cells you have two very brutal demanding games but the latter still had significant mechanisms for health re gen while still balancing it out which gives less technical players builds that allow them to take damage knowing they can make up the difference later which Hades does but only with certain abilities and not in a very meaningful way. I assume thing get better after unlocking Stubborn Defiance but still. Later on the issue involves not having nearly as much freedom to dodge and evade due to area hazards which makes the problem even worse in my opiniom. So you essentially need to rely on the god mode to actually make you survive unless your exceptionally skilled at reading npc movements and timing
I am not that far along yet So i am kinda more regeneration options will unlock later
I don't want to sidetrack, but does anyone else have a leveling problem with feather duster? I took it into Asphodel with 24 encounters until rank 2 and when I swapped it out it said 18 until rank 2, so it looks like it leveled up half as fast as it's supposed to. I could've been mistaken, but if it happens again I'll report it
I got it to 3 by just doing the first few levels over and over
Speaking of health the few times I have managed to beat the first Fury I was annoyed that the room between levels didn't heal you fully ..... I would argue that clearing a boss really should ...
If you're having mobility issues, you should get the double dash ability, it's very helpful if you don't already have it
the main issue is that its a complete crap shoot which thing you can get
there is no way to intelligently build
Dashing twice a mirror ability
it was ?
That's why you use god keepsakes, they're very good if used right
Sounds like you’re making a lot of assumptions based on little playtime. Do what you like. But you don’t need to use god mode to survive no matter who you are
For example, if you use Athena she'll usually give you a deflecting dash, which is very useful
I promise I am not exceptionally skilled at anything
asphodel is the shortest region at 10 chambers, and keepsakes only level up if you clear a room of enemies. If you take all the charon rooms and get Eurydice, that might only put you at 6 rooms cleared
Especially against witches, Furies, and skeleton bombers
Oh, I hadn't thought of that. I only take Charon before the boss, but always visit Eurydice
I'll equip it again and count the number of enemy encounters this time
@errant bramble Yes I am I am just stating my observations so far I do expect to get better as time goes on but it is kinda frustrating at how slow my progress has been so far
By the way, about not being healed fully after bosses, another mirror ability gives you 30 (60 if upgraded) percent of the Darkness you get in health. That's 30 extra health back after Meg. It's one of the yellow abilities (if you click an upgrade or the symbol on the left it swaps for a different one)
and yeah, the game wants you to focus on being able to dodge attacks a lot more than tanking them. it's why melee enemies tend to have big windups to telegraph their attacks, and ranged ones have slower projectiles. Even enemies with fast projectiles tend to "tell" you when theyre going to attack
yeah I never have issues dodging the melee enemies
especially with ||the final boss, who can do up to 40(!) damage per hit||
its always the witches out of sight that fire projectiles that sneak up on you
or those laser crystals
for the witches, athena is very useful
and the crystals also have a slow turning radius; moving perpendicular can be enough to get out
Those crystals were really annoying at first, it makes it easier if you go up to them and attack as quick as you can
Yes, if you dodge the initial laser it's easy to run up to them. They don't have much health, either
for me its never the individual enemy but when things start getting spammy and tanky at the same time and you cant get rid of the trash as quickly which leads to projectiles building up to bullet hell levels
Which weapon do you use? I always used the sword at first, but I'm much better with the spear now. Having to run up to every enemy might be making it harder
Mostly I have been focusing on darkness so I pick whichever weapon the fates have decided will grant me a bonus that day
That's the best way to do it, yeah
but I am partial to Exagryph because it allows me to keep my distance more eaisly and if I luck out and get triple shot for the grenades
same. keeps me on my toes, although Exagryph has been my best performer
What's the farthest you've gotten so far?
Spear is evil if you get a lot of Aphrodite's bonuses
only one or two rooms past the first fury
i usually dodge into lava
Achilles spear is pretty good for aggressive playstyle
9 times out of 10 if i get past the fury I burn to death in lava
yea dodging lava is a whole new technique when reaching asphodel
Yeah, that's trouble. That's why double dash is so useful. You're invincible during dash, and lava takes a second to take effect, so you can dash in and out pretty easily
I've lost DD to it
Consider a Hermes boon if you get the option. His keepsake doesn't let you get his boon so when he comes is entirely random, but one of his boons is an extra dash (or multiple)
does anyone have a guide to casting i have not really figured out when to use it
Hermes gets offered in rooms twice in a run and one in shop in Styx sometimes
Right now i use the feather duster for healing items
Depends on whether it's base cast or a boon enhanced one
Dusa is best snek
cast works well with boiling blood, hit the big mob with it and deal +50%
Not a bad idea to quickly sink all 3 (or 2) into an enemy near you if you know you can kill it, since you get them all back when they die
Against Meg, just shoot at her constantly whenever you get them back and try not to miss
I have the timed regen so its not that big a deal
Also, gods can help very much by giving you casts. Harpy feather duster is a good keepsake if you don't have much health, but Ares' cast is one of the best if you can get him to offer it
Another question Is it ever worth Chaos Boons? I mean in and of themselves they provide a benefit for an initial drawback
I don't know how often he does, though
however the initial cost of life to access seems like overkill
chaos boons are very good
yeah .... but still when they all come with a drawback why add the life cost
How much life do they take and how much do you have? I forget if it's a flat cost or percentage
think its 25 fixed
If you have 50-60 I wouldn't recommend Chaos boons. Sometimes the 3 choices aren't even that great, and you lose the life as well as being weakened for a few encounters
its not based on how much health you have, it just randomly chooses a number within that range
might be 21-24 actually
If your average run is about 15 chambers, a boon that penalizes you for 3-5 of them won't be worth it in the long run
yeah don't get me wrong; chaos boons can absolutely be dangerous and its definitely a good idea to be cautious if you're worried about dying
but their effects can also be very powerful
imo use chaos if you know you can play, lets say without a special or getting hit by traps
Btw based on the codex it looks like you can give gifts to Chaos and gain a keepsake but he does not seem to actually be present in the area as a character
Yeah, some of them dramatically increase resource rewards
Chaos shows up every time you accept a boon, like the gods
so you cant actually encounter him as a character to talk to
Not outside of a run, no
Before you accept the boon
chaos acts like a god boon, gift nectar when you go in
There's an option to gift
^
I wonder if gifts are locked to specific progress in the storyline
I had one but could not actually see the option
they can be locked yeah
You can't gift chaos the first time you meet them
Same goes for any NPC/god - always have to have talked to them at least once
Oh you were right about Athena
Got the special Deflect ability if you wait for Meg to fire the storm of purple missile stand infront of one of the projectile lines and throw the spear they all go straight back at her and hit with the force of a truck
I like this combo
Yes, it's one of the best boons there is. You can even deflect bombs in Asphodel, but it's more difficult
That one's extremely useful against minibosses
Got a good bit into elysium in that run
Nicely done
Good one, was that your first time fighting the Hydra?
Play more
@glass flower Yes and honestly I think hydra is much weaker than meg XD or at least has less add spam and is easier to avoid
Also I am using Cast alot more
yo so let me get this straight
i've won hdes 4 times
sooooo wth am i suppose dto do
Keep going
Youve still need to get to the credits and epilogue
omg
4 times is nowhere near the end
you'll have fun
what do we get for winning consecutively
bragging rights probs
oh LOL
A streak
is fated authority or persuasion btr ?
I used authority at the start to get the gods I liked but moved on to persuasion to make sure I get the specific build I want for the run
most people use persuasion I believe
Wait, what does persuasion do?
reroll boons
Ok i need that
I need that Artemis ult man...
But no, I would get everything except that damn call
at a certain point in the game, keys give you rerolls, nectars give you half poms, and darkness gives max health. Is there something else that talent does?
Xd
like gems, and what not?
Gems give money if I'm right
oh, interesting
last time i checked it didnt give me anything so maybe i didnt notice
I finished the lounge yesterday
Looks nice
Also started ||romance with Meg||
I want all the ||pets, so I gotta "romance" both Dusa and Than while romancing Meg||
wait, so it's not a talent/
i mean the half poms that you get from the shop
oh
+1 to random boons
which one is it/.
it's a contractor upgrade
oh, so not a talent, got it
yep, all those things mentioned are contractor upgrades
i'll tag them just in case, although i think u can get them pretty early
i somehow completely forgot
but once u give ||2 diamonds to the contractor to take a break, all those contractor upgrades will show up - they also cost diamonds||
i had them, i wasnt sure if it was a talent or not
they're quite useful
until i unlock all of those i usually don't spend diamonds on anything else
ambrosia is what I mostly use them on after the contractor upgrades
||songs|| also require quite a bit, but I don't really bother with them early
What "fated" upgrade should I get first?
I use Persuasion usually but honestly Authority is better. Sometimes the game has an annoying habit of basically forcing the exact same boons on you regardless of how much you reroll. Might be a bug.
depends on how early in a game you are , I think as authority is cheaper, it's more accessible and you can change rooms to get the gods boons
persuasion is good when you need to get a build right, or when you get really bad boons, or trying to avoid certain boons
I still haven't beaten the final boss but I've gotten pretty decent. If I die it's either to Theseus or the final boss plus I had a really good run that boosted my darkness gain by a lot so I can afford persuasion
I just wanna say. I've been playing for 5 hours. My first time. I got past the first area and all that stuff. Skelly is thee CUTEST NPC. I love his character
Its such an awesome game. Its a bit frustrating to get so far and then die to that horrible skeleton snake thing but anyways. We shall soldier along
Hades somehow manages to mix cute and mature and make it work
soul catchers aren't cute
||do i need to gift Bouldy Nectar to advance Sisyphus’ story/hearts?||
no
he just gives you little boosts
but don't underestimate bouldy, +2% increase on obols earned goes a long way
That ambiguity bonus hittin 😩
sometimes though he might actually give a considerable boost, like +10% movement speed
ambiguity bonus 😩 👌
1% special damage 😩 💯 💯
bouldy flourish 😳
Aspect of bouldy would be nice
Dang, nothing could have prepared me for my first Extreme Measures final boss.
I had 4 death defiances, +400 health, and the Rail but couldn't pull it off.
Should have maxed out my aspect
Ty
Why would one use God’s Pride when you can use God’s Legacy? Am i crazy?
gods' pride is nice if you're not going for duos/legendaries
Hmm but wouldnt either be better than Epic?
I'm wondering when ||companions|| come along. I have beaten ||hades|| twice. I'm tempted to look this up but I also like surprises. Is it coming soon? I have maxed out a few ||relationships||
sometimes you'd rather have epic last stand than deadly reversal
legendary or duos are not necessarily what you need
Gotcha
Ty
Although arent all legendaries just better epics?
I suppose the chance of a duo can mess things up
||It's not all characters that give companions, no olympian god does, for example||
I guess it all depends on what youre trying to build. I need to read more about legendaries
||so raising a relationship with a God just opens more dialogue?||
not just that, but i'll leave it at that
There is a point to do so, but I won't spoil anything for you as to why you'd want to do it 😄
if I were you I wouldn't look up companions, but if I REALLY want to know i would still ask a specific question here (and get a very specific answer) rather than looking it up
google has the nasty habit of spoiling everything
||It's not tied to narrative progress, but progress with different individuals. Not the Olympians (who progress does matter beyond dialogue), but generally just the person giving you the companion, anyone tied into their situation, and then one specific person who has been helping you skirt things this whole time||
That's best way to describe it without spoiling anything I think.
Whats the general consesus on Olympian Favor vs. Dark Foresight?
dark foresight gets you better runs
favor is potentially a better choice only for runs where you're farming meta currencies like gemstones
Wait isnt foresight the one that gives currencies?
Oh i would have figured favor would give you better runs with that 40% increase in rare boons
quantity over quality
Gotcha ty
hey i got a question how come my death defience (ik my grammar is trash) doesnt work at the bone hydra
You might be using stubborn defiance
Most likely.
I wouldn't recommend using it tho. I used it once and that was for the prophecy
True
SD is really good at high heat
I would use it if either you are losing a dd every chamber at high heat or if you have LC4 on
That’s a good way of putting it/looking at it @dull storm
I’d never thought of it that way but that clicks to me. For those that have boss mechanics down to a method but are more threatened by rooms as the difficulty rises.
i've always used SD, DD was not efficient for me
meaning I would get poked here and there way too much, poor hp management throughout the course of an attempt
and bosses rarely even hit me
I’m heavily reliant on DD, always have been. But when I’ve played with SD, I’ve always liked it. I think I should put more time in with SD. Worst case it’ll encourage me to play boss fights better.
not to mention patty's boon for SD is straight up "cheating"
does touch of styx dark also stack with the regular touch of styx from the well?
should stack additively
dang
but the well one is sort of useless if u already have patty's
keep in mind patty's is also additive with the default value
...who is that?
Patty SD is broken
indeed
can i run hades on this https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/H2VRy4
@wind wigeon yeah, should be no problem.
sick
nah im not like when i get to the hydra im using death defience but i still die of rip
im even using the bone guys tooth
fair warning, thiat infographic is extremely outdated
I have found Artemis's Greater calling is amazing in boss fights
It takes a while to charge but its basically all crit damage
Hey Artemis you see that Boss health bar ... I don't want to see it anymore
What’s outdated in it? Does all that info still not apply?
i suppose most of it is still accurate, it's just that i originally posted it partway into early access
Ohhhhhhh, it’s yours. I see lol
Randomly decided to do ||Tight Deadline|| at max and completed it first try... got ME combo on shield in asphodel and the game was over
Does bouldy have a keepsake/trinket i gave him... it... bouldy a nectar and i got nothing. ||he is just a boulder|| but is there a keepsake from bouldy
trust in him
and he'll trust in you
hmm
no joke tho that's actually what happens
so do i give bouldy all my nectar or not
yea he just gives you very tiny buffs and a wonderful portriat
i mean if you want +2% cast damage
yeaaaa
its funny
early game id say no
spend the nectar on gods for trinkets
but once you have a lot then he becomes a nectar sponge
i have all the trinkets except for spoiler and dad
how are relationships??
no one wants to love me
i focus on romance first then gods for the 2nd ending
i've given most of my nectar to sisyphus, eurydice, and patroclus
and no one wants to love me
the last I gave was Hypnos 😂
all my homies hate Hypnos
the romance options are ||than, meg, dusa|| :/
Hypnos needs to tell himself how to parry that, fricking casula
and you get ||companion trinkets|| from ||achilles, sisyphus, skelly||
oddly specific but k.
the romance options also give you those so like focus on those 6 first i wuold say
danke shun
small nit pick, 256GB SSD for about 50 bucks kinda sucks, you can find 500GB ones for not much more
how much more?
