You want to take gods like Demeter, Dio, or Zeus for faster moves and percentage-based boons like Aphro or Athena for slower attacks

I don’t use it a lot so I’m not 100% sure, but I’m pretty the weak spin isn’t too slow to activate so if you get an opening then try to just get the weak spin for the damage buff

Also another question: if you destroy all the bases, is there then an increased likelihood that there will be a case with gold in it in the next encounter? I have this habit where I destroy all the columns and cases after killing all enemies in each room (all the destructable things in the environment; it gets far more tedious in the lava level).

I'm already having a loooootttt of fun with combinations of boons. They did such an incredible job with allowing players to have the ability to build around a boon that they get at the beginning of a run. Because of that initially random foundational boon, it sets the runs up so that players get to experience a wide array of playstyles and thus they become diverse and really widespread in their knowledge of how to play the game

However, and I know that this is really asininely stupid, I dont ever use cast

friend of mine said the other day that asphodel ||is the level that forces you to focus on positioning, which is a really important skill to learn when progressing through the game. It can be pretty painful if you’re bad at positioning tho (like me lol)||

anyway i’ve kind of come to respect it from a design perspective, and kinda like it now, but ||i have died to lava so many times omg so|| i feel you

I at first did not like a number of the weapons, ||particularly the ranged bow and rifle weapons, as I didnt understand how to properly utilize them. There were two key things that changed that:

1. Dont try to manually aim at all. Just let auto aim do its thing by simply clicking /holding the attack /special button without touching the left analog stick to alter where stuff is going.

For the bow's special, just to very blunt aiming as far as making sure you're shooting in the general direction of where you want stuff to be going; you do this simply by just facing Zag in the direction of enemies.. ez pa.

For the rifle's special, you either let auto aim do its thing like always or you make slight adjustments to where its gonna land.

2. This is the most important thing to remember for ranged weapons.. distance yourself always no matter what!! These weapons are distinctly made so that you can use them in such a way that the enemies won't have a chance to hit you (aside from other enemies that have ranged attacks which you just simply dash out of the way from). I often dash in and out of the area where enemies are, particularly when I have a dash boon where the effect occurs where the dash ends.||

But yeah, that's the gist of my approach with those weapons, and it has become quite effective. I'm sure my approach will improve with time but for now this is working great for me.

resetting the run will only guarantee the first chamber stays the same, as a new seed is generated after you finish each fight

so it’s not really practical to see what you’re going to get then reset (outside of the starting boon)

if you’re planning to force a build using keepsakes/fate, then you can make your decision off that

if you’re just taking whatever boons come, then FF is probably a better choice as it’s more consistent

I didn't know you could make a God Call build
first time just ended up with a bunch of boons from Zeus related to the call and had Athena's shield call
Zeus had Smoldering Air duo that lets you automatically charge 1% per 0.2s which is insanely fast
Zeus boons do extra damage after call and faster charge when you hit enemies
And basically you're invincible for almost the entire time by spamming your call and getting damage buffs from it too, super easy for boss fights

I like Perfect Shot the most out of those. You'll want to spam Dash-Strike Power Shots, anyway.

Explosive Shot hurts your range, so it can be more difficult to play, and Flurry Shot takes some getting used to for sure. Flurry Shot doesn't work all that well for me on pad with aim assist.

Keepsakes alone guarantees specific gods + Fated Authority if you want even more control (eats up quite a good chunk of Darkness to upgrade it though)

That's usually all I need

Legendaries definitely need some luck + there's a mirror talent to increase your chance at Legendaries/Duos

@leaden whale Just having the god in your pool guaranteed is more than enough. If you're not getting it, then stop taking other gods, take the final keepsake to occupy yor call slot, remember the prereqs for the boon in question, and use rerolls aggresively

Also taking keys for more rerolls

The build system is so interesting BECAUSE it forces you to adapt and overcome

my best advice is to lure the minotaur away and kill him, while hiding behind pillars to avoid thesus throwing stuff at you.

Once the minotaur is dead thesus is fairly easy. Just keep dashing behind and getting a few hits in while keeping an eye out for god calls and hsi spin attack

also the minotaur is a bull. he's the bull of Minos

||focus minotaur first. his attack patterns are very telegraphed. Theseus is like shieldbearer+ archer. Keep dodging, look for windows to get in damage. Once Asterius is down the fight becomes a lot easier||

I'd pick ||erebus if you're already on at least level5 heat. Vintage nectar gives random level up for boons, they're already rare to get in a run so not a priority imo. Fated keys grant rerolls, early game it doesn't really matter since anything works||

Hi everyone.

I'm looking for advice on how to achieve higher survivability other than getting better at dodging and positioning which I'll hopefully improve at once I complete more and more runs.

So pretty much all but the latest one of my runs ||ended in the early-mid Asphadel, because I ended up at low HP post-Megaera. I mostly used the Bow in all of these runs.||

However for my last run I had the following build: ||3* Collar, Spear with Epic Dash-Deflect as the starter boon, Hangover on Attack, and Triple Jab as my first Daedalus. This lasted me well through mid-Elysium (Hydra fight felt very easy and I hardly took any damage), by which point I had 300 max HP and lvl3 Hangover. Then I picked up Serrated Point and I felt like that was a huge mistake, because the triple dash-strike didn't feel as good, and I sacrificed quite a lot of mobility in favor of it. Still, I started the Theseus/Minotaur fight at 300 HP and decidedly lost it without getting either of them even below half HP. Frankly I had no idea how to fight them properly, but that still felt terrible after a seemingly perfect run that far.||

Basically, I've learned that ||Dash-Deflect is ridiculously good for survivability, at least using this weapon||, so I'm wondering if there are other things I should know regarding that

Okay thanks. Because I hadn't really considered that until now in my runs, as I didn't use Ares too much. But I saw that having the doom on my both special and attack was resulting in a low amount of damage, especially as I couldn't manage to nab the stacking doom boon

Most of the time you'll have different gods boons on your attack and special

And I see looking into it that once you hit 5 stacks of hangover, new hangover hits will change the stack damage to whatever the newest level of damage is, not the strongest. So I should also avoid taking a skill with say 5 hangover damage if I have one with 9 damage. because the 5 will overwrite the 9 and vice versa.

There's also a duo that lets you apply more stacks

Open a guide and look at the gods boons with - or whatever on pc

Either way though, I guess just when you do hit that max stack, the weak one can keep ruining your stronger boon

It's possible to beat the game without any boons at all. If you're missing damage that much in Asphodel, your attack rotations are probably just still far from optimized. Maybe try being more aggressive with Dash-Strikes etc. Hard to give advice on that without knowing your aspect or seeing you play. I wrote some general tips for how to get DPS in the build guide, though.
