It kinda is, dash striking generally lets you deal more dps and also lets you be much more mobile while doing damage. Positioning is very important in the game. Also theres boons like athenas dash which deflects attacks around you when you dash and poseidon's dash which deals a lot of damage when you dash

Depends on whats happening like if meg is doing her whip aoe then you want to dash away or dash to iframe it but usually you can just dash strike through an enemy to get behind them and theyll miss

So is there any early advice for a new player? I've only just now managed to beat the first boss, and only did so after dying and being revived two in the middle of the fight. At the moment, I'm not too good since I only ever use basic attacks with the starting sword and dodging. The other attack haven't sunk in yet as I usually feel better just approaching and attack with melee. I gave my first gift to Skelly and that's about it.

You could try some of the other weapons as well

Would suggest trying other weapons (shield is a personal preference/favourite since you can block with attack and special is long ranged) and unlock +1dash from the mirror (greater reflex) as soon as possible, if you have nectar give it to Skelly for one of the best defensive keepsakes in the game.
Try to prioritize getting keys over anything else, having all the weapons unlocked will probably lead to greater enjoyment if you aren't understanding the sword. Also keys are used for unlocking more upgrade options for the mirror of night.
For sword gameplay the best early combo is dashattack+standard-attack+special repeat.
For spear it's spamming attacks+dashstrikes
Shield has a lot of variety, would suggest just spamming attacks/dashstrikes for single enemies and bullrushes (hold down attack button) for lots of enemies. Put Zeus/Ares on special if you want a safe longranged build
For bow you should generally do dash+attack and get into the rhythme of doing powershots.

Sounds like a plan to work with. I assume the game isn't gonna be as hard as other Roguelike type games, since I have upgrades I can acquire to make life a bit easier along the way.

Yeah it gets a lot easier the longer you play. Experience plays a part but it's mostly that people get the upgrades and realize which builds are strongest.

The bar empties after every room. Generally you get it filled by doing damage and getting hit I think. As for aspects, sure, there's probably a meta, but using the right ones in combination with the boons seems pretty viable in most cases. Early game, just experiment, even with those you don't seem to like.

Dmg done/how many hits/being hit all charge it, with number of hits being the most important

So something like chiron bow or fists + zeus attack will have a better time at call charging

Is not needed for the story but if you want to max your weapons at a reasonable pace is really recommended to use it

There's a pin in #h1-high-heat-strategies that shows what pacts are easier to use at the start

you can skip it, that's completely fine.
Would suggest just taking something light like tight deadline 1 or lasting consequences 1 to start but it's only really there to spice things up when you get too good at the game and need some humbling

Big tip is to dash strike a lot, but if you want to dodge something, don’t do a dash strike because they don’t have iframes

Attack the one on the left or right side first, then work your way from one side to another. So you can dash into an area they csnt wasily attack

No, when the heads spawn dash to the FAR right or left. Isolate the last head and kill it. Then work from right to left, or left to right (depending what side you started on) and kill the rest. This strat let's you have an open spot behind you at all time

How do I get more blood

• beating the first boss for the first time with a weapon will net you one blood.
• final boss drops another + after that you unlock the best way to farm blood.
  other sources:
  trading for it at the lounge:
• 1 ambrosia for 1 T.blood is always there.
• 15 keys for 1 blood which is super good
• list of minor prophecies.
• Charon may sell one blood for 1200 gold at the last area shop

Chiron can be obtained by using titanblood on the bow weapon. I assume you've unlocked fist/rail already since you already got aspect of Hera so simply selecting the bow and pressing the "titanblood upgrade" button will let you get chiron bow.

If you haven't unlocked all the weapons with keys first you won't be able to use titanblood on individual weapons to get their aspects. Otherwise investing titanblood into weapon aspects should be fairly straightforward.

• beating the first boss for the first time with a weapon will net you one blood.
• final boss drops another + after that you unlock the best way to farm blood.
  other sources:
  trading for it at the lounge:
• 1 ambrosia for 1 T.blood is always there.
• 15 keys for 1 blood which is super good
• list of minor prophecies.
• Charon may sell one blood for 1200 gold at the last area shop

Some aspects work just ok-nicely at low blood

Other stuff really need levels for them to work

Yeah, it is part of your attack. The only thing that doesn’t affect it is the aspect of Hades attack boost

Generally speaking if it’s using the same button as strike it’s going to get boosted by strikes damage: so your dash strikes, your bullrushes, your spins

The only time buffs won’t apply is if a specific hammer just doesn’t make sense to apply, or if you’re looking at a few specific sword hammers

i think it’s really good with artemis and can get up to 700+ damage

Pomming has diminishing returns/rarity increases the base effect

For example doom's first pom is always 30 next is like, 20? Idk
Common doom attack is 50, rare is 75, epic is 100

For some stuff rarity matters a lot, for other stuff is whatever

Doom atk/aphro atk matters a lot for example, but aphro's cast is a 20 dmg difference on common vs epic

Hermes' rarity is also huge as his boons can't be pommed

those are some graphs for how some boons scale by rarity/and by poms. Rarity is often pretty impactful, as it’s typically a multiplier or just a big added amount on top of a boons base stats, but some boons particularly scale well with their pom scaling

some boons have a rarity as a random multiplier, as you can see with heartbreak strike, it scales like common: 1* bonus, rare: 1.3-1.5, epic: 1.8-2.0, heroic 2.3-2.5

It always depends on the boon for how impactful either rarity or pomming will be for it

Heart break strike is a really good example of one that scales super well with rarity compared to anything hangover having massive incentive to put all your poms on it

Either start zeus for his attack and look for static discharge or start ares attack and go for merciful end duo (athena)

The only real difference between dem and the other 2 aspects is that it helps doing some extra dmg before your build is fully online

What this means for builds is that you want to use keepsakes to meet the gods you need then close the pool asap so you have better chances at seeing them again

Cuz with the pool not filled you have a 1 in 8 to see who you want, going up to a 1 in 4 at full pool

(also there's another niche where you end up with pools higher than 4 but they are kinda whatever)

The better builds depend on one or two gods usually bc trying to get a perfect pool can be hard

Too many chances at 1 exit doors that offer you an unnecessary god

Take down the Minotaur first and leave Theseus to do his own thing, when the Minotaur charges at you run him into a tower (guide him into one)
When Theseus calls upon a god, he is vulnerable to attacks (he won’t block)

He’s dangerous if you end up in front of an attack but once you learn where he aims his attacks he’s actually very approachable

Also, the god theseus calls upon can never be the same as your aid god, so if you struggle against a specific god pattern (as i do for dionysus) try getting their aid to force them out of the pool
