The duo mostly tends to be supplemental because the core of the build is already strong enough to support itself

But for now, just figure out what works for your play style and have fun. The other beginner trap is to always pick the highest rarity boon. Read the boon descriptions (they are carefully worded) and think about possible synergies with what you already have.

Just the cast. Some builds are very similar like the Crush Shot/Passion Flare + Snow Burst combo but others arent even close to good is what I meant, like Flood Shot + Mirage Shot, which is Beowulf's strongest build.

Timing your dashes so you're invulnerable the moments the boss tries to hit you helps a lot, esp if trying to smack up close.

looking for some tips. I've beaten the first two worlds/bosses with all weapons, with most of them fairly easily. Made it to theseus 3 times, that fight is quite tough, but I also struggle in Elysium

I tried doing some recommended builds, but so far whenever I've tried anything beyond the most basic thing, I don't manage to get the boons I need.
e.g. I tried to do fists with Area + Athena for the duo boon that deflect inflicts doom. Checked the prereqs etc. rng gods just weren't kind and even using the ares/athena I never even managed to get the dual boon

Like I did at least 3-4 Zeus runs in my first 10-20 where I got easily 4-5 boons from Zeus. The last two times I've tried Zeus, after the first forced boon I got like, nothing else from Zeus for the first two biomes
And in general I'm just getting way more random boons. Can't build up to anything

another thing to keep in mind is that youll always be offered an attack/special/cast/dash boon if you dont have all those slots filled
also god keepsakes increase the chance to receive duos/legendaries from that god by an additive +10%

Keep playing is the only way. You'll eventually get more darkness and other upgrades, and more skill, and be able to go further with that which will get you more stuff.

beating the first boss for the first time with a weapon will net you one blood
final boss drops another + after that you unlock the best way to farm blood
other sources: trading for it at lounge (1 ambrosia for 1 T.blood is always there and sometimes 15 keys for 1 blood which is super good)
