Chaos, yes. Dusa is more a plutonic friend, probably asexual (depends if you consider Ace an Enby thing or separate I guess). I like how many "atypical" personality types are represented. Artemis seems obviously either slightly autistic or at least a little neurodiverse. Aphrodite is obviously bisexual, and Poseidon is ... a bit of a twat

Is also think Chaos is possibly plural (i.e. multiple personalities) since a few dialogues use "we" rather than "I" IIRC.

artemis is a "virgin goddess", much like athena. there are some potential symbolic/ritual reasons for this (here's some wiki info https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Artemis#Virginity). some modern folks have also posited that artemis and/or athena are lesbians, rather than asexual/aroace/straight and just very chaste

imo, artemis as sapphic/aspec are valid interpretations. but i'm neither pagan nor an academic authority on the issue, so i don't know if my opinion counts lmao

Athena is a 'pretender to femininity'. In myths, she upholds the patriarchy, often very violent ways (see Medusa, Clytemnestra), and is intentionally distanced from contemporary femininity through her virginity and lack of a mother. The region for which she was patron (Athens) was one of the more oppressive Greek states for women. Oh, and she was Zeus's favourite. Naturally.

Sexuality was also gauged very differently in Greece, but to get into that might be nsfw, so I'll leave that there. xDD

Why is Hermes not forging bond with me

I've talked to him with maxed keepsake like 5 times

by talking to everyone do you mean talking or nectar

just because you have met the requirements for a thing does not mean you will immediately get the dialogue you want. the game only checks that you have met requirements (in this case having max lv keepsake equipped) and adds that dialogue to your available choices when you talk to someone. some people may get the dialogue they're looking for right away, others may take a number of attempts. this is just a symptom of how the game's dialogue system works. so long as hermes is still giving you new dialogue and not recycled lines, nothing's wrong and you just have to keep trying

if it's been some time and you're still not seeing progress then we can start looking at if there's a problem but if you're still getting new dialogue then chances are the bond dialogue just hasn't cycled through yet

This engine has potential. I can see a prequel to Hades where you play as any of the fighters from the Trojan War, there are already divine boons and we can kind of modify the rate at which you get them and how they fit into the gameplay. It'll be less small chambers and wider battlefields.

each of them have certain conditions you need to reach in order to progress

it's different for each person and the game won't explicitly say what they are but they're all achievable just from continuing to play the game

it's done in a way that all the conditions are reached just by playing the game normally

but if you need to know exactly, the conditions are on the wiki i think

hi friends, i just completed the epilogue, and gotta say... ||im a little disappointed? or perhaps confused on how im supposed to feel. i hate to say that, too. it felt good knowing that we're all g with olympus, but it felt rather forced? unrealistic? it lacked the more intimate parts of a resolution, i think. like it would have been more interesting to see how the gods would interact with zagreus for the first time. maybe im wrong or misinterpreting, but the credits ending definitely felt more fulfilling, idk.||

Yeah. Given that the epilogue was the last bit of real content they added I'm not too upset that it's a bit light on content. A few more reaction dialogues would have been nice though (especially if you invited chaos).

Leveling up aspects is expensive, may want to consider holding off on Hera for max level for the time being, it doesn't scale that hard off of aspect level.

Broadly, they're very similar but SGG did take creative and artistic liberties

There are a lot of references, to the point you can consider this story almost canon in greek mythology (which is amazing honestly)

this is just a tiny nitpick but there isnt really a canon to mythology, as mythology was built upon thousands of years of stories told orally before they came to be written down, so at most you could say there is a certain set of mythology that is commonly known and accepted

there's no telling how many stories were lost to time, even besides the fragments we know about

but yeah besides that supergiant did go through all sorts of things like ovid and hesiod in making the story for hades

oh absolutely! i just try to stray away from use of "canon" in regard to mythology since most people interpret that as like. well, the fandom interpretation of canon. these events are true to this plot, this is the narrative source, which is not really how mythos works. i know supergiant has been guilty of using canon too though but its really cool to see more obscure things referenced in hades too, and thats also why i appreciate that they focused more on chthonic deities than olympians, since everyone knows about the olympians and focuses on them, but nyx and hypnos are much less known. thanatos i would argue is fairly well known, if only because lots of games have used his imagery over the years rofl not necessarily anything to do with myth itself but just thanatos/death

Last night, I finally got to the run where Zag is trying to get Tis to say his name. I was very pleasantly surprised to find that the next run after that, when I met Tis again, that she'd actually progressed a bit more in her speech. I love the continuity in this game

Yknow that reminds me of this idea I had regarding Heracles. He's mentioned in the story and I was wondering. Would he be in Elysium even? If I remember correctly there are two deaths for Heracles. In one death he is killed by his wife accidentally and is made a god, therefore he would be on Olympus. But the other death I believe was him getting stranded on an island by the argonauts and spending the rest of his days looking for a friend. If anyone knows anything about whether or not this is true feel free to ping me!

Well Heracles is following a certain story structure right

Same as the Epic of Gilgamesh, which also just ends with Gilgamesh returning at a loss, no friend and not immortal, to being a king

So you have two major variants of the story that reflect one side of either option

Either his life ends in obscurity due to pride, or he ascends after trusting someone too much

Both are true at the same time

Just think about which one is applicable to you I guess

another character that might be cool to see is Hemera, day incarnate and one of Nyx's daughters. iirc in the myths she and Nyx are on alternate shifts in Tartarus, so Hemera is out in the day, and Nyx is out at night. And since Nyx says she isn't on good terms with some of her kids, Hemera can be one of them since she doesn't want to be in the same place as her mother for all eternity

there's the gender neutral pronoun iel but it isn't the most widespread thing so i wouldn't be surprised if they just settled for "il" which is masculine but Can kind of still be used gender neutrally (since it's plural form is still used for the french equivalent of the plural they)

havent played the FR translation myself but one thing ive heard being criticized is that zagreus apparently switches from formal language and informal language inbetween dialogue (in french; there are two main ways ot refer to someone else- "tu" which is the informal way, and "vous" which is the formal way you usually refer to like.. higher ups/teachers/etc, from what ive heard zagreus does both depending on the dialogue) and while yeah i can see it being a problem i kind of don't mind it because it seems fitting for a character like zagreus ?

Having worked a lot with translation agencies, sadly I could believe it's just inconsistent (a translation this size would usually be split across multiple primary translators and consistency checking is often overlooked).

one example being when Meg refers to her sisters - in Chinese, the term for siblings depends on whether the sibling is older or younger. And since she's the oldest, she should use the term for younger sister, but sometimes she uses the term for a collective of older and younger (or just relative age unspecified) sisters

And a lot of literature, including I believe a very old story of Athens, involved Theseus basically fighting off other thugs

And that's how he became a hero and a king

And later these thugs became monsters

It's a hard to understand perspective

The other god’s abilities are pretty self-explanatory, like Artemis and crits, Demeter with Chill, Aphrodite with Weak and Charm, etc2, but I can’t quite think of anything pertaining with Hades and Ares and how it works with their mythos

the most notable thing about him is frankly his war chariot, ares himself doesnt really have any distinctions? it's hard to identify him because its a game of "is this ares or is this just some random warrior"

So, new here, I’ve played the game for almost 190 hours now and have done nearly all interactions and gotten nearly all of the dialogues, but for some reason I never got one scene between Meg,zagreus and Thanatos to happen. Anybody know what were the specific requirements for it to happen?

You need both maxed out hearts, but I'm sure you know this. Other than that, assuming you've had both Meg and Than "visit your room" separately, I think it's just RNG. I'm not sure if turning down either of them individually would prevent the interaction (I've never turned either of them down).

64 heat isnt really designed to be beatable

if you dont get the right rng. youre guaranteed to time out no matter how good you are

and you basically cant at all get hit because no stubborn defiance

rough translation of Damue's comments about ultra high heat on their 62 Zeus vod:

RI3 disables double dash and casts, ie you only have 1 dash and 1 cast. All non-shield weapons need double dash to position and deal with EM4, so they're maxed at 60 heat, unless you grind AP to get the boons you want + Hermes +dash for 62 heat. Beo also stops at 60 bc of single cast. Zag and Chaos shield need ME for damage output, which is hard under AP2, so they're stuck at 59. Only Zeus shield doesn't mind RI3, and can do 62. 63 and 64 need RI4 which disables SD, so you start at 50 HP with the only recovery being centaur hearts and darkness. Add TD3 and EM4 on top, and it seems impossible as of now.

Super late, but beo allows you to load your casts into your bull rush to turn it into a dragon rush, giving the rush extra aoe, damage and cast effects

for dio cast id be using stygian soul and looking for extra chaos casts if you arent doing that

normally beo is used with poseidon cast so you can get mirage shot easily and with infernal soul

I tried both and did way better with dio BUT I didn't roll mirage shot

Which was sad

I didn't do stygian but I'll that next time. Even though it was slower to get casts back, with 3 casts loaded I hit hades for 2,500 hp which was pretty awesome
