uhhh so how does one finish up the heart conversations with the gods? I've gotten up to the lock on almost all of them bar ares and zeus, and both of those arent letting me give them any more nectar. Is there some form of side quest/objective I need to clear first?

I kinda don't blame hade for not wanting zagarus to leave because it must be so painful to watch your son who you don't want to be hurt get to attached to a place he can't physically stay in so each time he eventually reaches the surface will die. Like I don't blame Hades for all his anger I don't think it's just him angry at Persephone or angry at zag wanting to rebel those contribute I just think it's the fact that he knows what will happen each time and he'll have to watch it . Hey, so I've nearly maxed out everyone's hearts in my 2nd save file. But Hypnos won't unlock his last few. Is there anything I can do to get them unlocked? He isn't giving me any new dialogue after 10+ runs

you're adding more dialogue to your available dialogue pool, so that will affect it, yeah

the 4th aspect dialogue should take higher priority but that doesnt always happen if you've got a lot of dialogue in queue

I think asking him to skip dialogue is in the minority, but in the spirit of the game and this server there is no actual judgement (at large, no telling for individual users) for wanting expediency.

I personally try to always listen to his dialogue all the way through, but if you prefer to mash Space/A/X, that's your bag and your game.

Its such a small detail but it always bothered me--why are thanatos & ares close work associates / why did than say that the surface war took a toll on him when he is the god of nonviolent death?

like wouldnt he not really be involved in wars for the most part?

thanatos was also not always nonviolent death, his earlier incarnations were death as a whole, and this was separated to violent and nonviolent death at a later period. the game does idly remark on the nonviolent aspect but doesn't really stick with it either

well yes but also no, that wasn't exactly his intent. theres a couple different versions i recall that change who ordered his capture and for what reason. thanatos is sent to collect him, but sisyphus fancies himself quite an intelligent man, intelligent enough to outsmart the gods even. so he tricks thanatos into trying the chains meant for him, more to escape his own punishment than anything else. and with thanatos bound in chains and out of commission, mortal things are unable to die

sisyphus also again tries getting out of his punishment by throwing his wife under the bus lmao declaring that she never went through proper burial procedure for him (as a result of what he himself told her to do to his body just to use this excuse) may he please go back and rectify this issue? of course he had zero intention of actually doing anything about it and goes on to live his life as normal. hades tries to send thanatos after him again but thanatos refuses to deal with the man, so sisyphus is allowed to live out the rest of his life... until he dies for realsies and finally faces the consequences of his actions and becomes well acquainted with a boulder

also multiple versions of this that i remember, anyway sisyphus cheats death twice, if you want some context of why thanatos seemingly loathes him ingame

camus's absurdism states that we are all sisyphus, because nothing in life inherently matters, one must imagine sisyphus happy

because he wanted immortality and it doesn't even matter that he's being punished, because in his punishment he experiences immortality

Sisyphus in the game has also been coping with the torture and the insurmountable task by zenning out. Like, he and others all mention that he's changed quite a lot since he first came to the underworld, so he's not expected really to be that much like he was in the original myth.

it's explicitly a modernist reinterpretation and i like that the game runs with that

in particular it's acknowledged in the game as a representation and parallel to zagreus's own repeated escape attempts

the difference lies in the fact that while sisyphus never gets anywhere spinning his wheel emptily, zagreus is literally building his world piece by piece each time he goes out and comes back

it's just such a solid representation of the fundamental conflict between absurdism and existentialism

even though you'll die anyway, you will still have left a real impact on the world, and it's the human connections you make that make your life meaningful

Achilles says in his bond conversation that you're only supposed to get ambrosia from duels in elysium, and dusa says in a post bond conversation that she's gonna work hard and get her own ambrosia for the house, and no one ever complains about the house being understocked

She is fighting, and winning, against shades in elysium

And she does that on top of her job cleaning the house

I've been really struggling to unlock the lyre. I've maxed out Orpheus and Eurydice, completed their quest, unlocked the music box, and doneany successful runs. Is there another condition I'm missing? I've tried looking online but haven't found anything I'm missing. I've also purchased everything available in my room except Aphrodite poster.

dionysus' favor requires 6 forged bonds, and it requires you to gift 10 ambrosia to any number of characters

i have meg, orpheus, hermes, artemis, ares, athena, hades all maxed out hearts (persephone 7/9)

ambrosia, meg = 4, hermes = 2, artemis, ares, athena = 3 (1 for each of them), and orpheus im sure atleast has 1

that adds up to 10

how have i still not gotten/unlocked dionysus' 7th heart

This may sound silly and not easy advice, but from someone who got his favor completed and finished his whole affinity pretty early, i realized that i kinda got it by really prioritizing him? he is my favorite so giving him lots of attention was kind of easy, but i always talked to him and still do every time i come back to the house, i got ||asterius' autograph, the tombs, the orange chaise, and talked to than a lot too|| and all that seemed to help as well, even if not all directly related

just kinda pampering hypnos lol

i'm sure there's more game mechanics to it to some extent as well, but not forgetting to talk to him, or even talking to ||Dusa and Nyx|| a bunch bc they're related to his favor as well
