Yeah if she says something about like “subsection alpha gamma zeta” or some other combo of Greek letters I forget that’s the trigger
before you can proceed with the quest
Does anyone know how to further unlock the Artemis gifting thing? I have just been using her keepsake every run in hopes just spam interacting with her would do something but it has been so long.
Goit it!
Can you deepen your relationship with multiple people or are there negative consequences
You can deepen your relationship with multiple people with zero negative consequence as far as I can tell
Cool
Supergiant said Polyamory Rights
Yo I got a message saying a work order would be unlocked to free Orpheus, but it didn’t happen. I don’t see the work order. Did I do something wrong?
no, do one run and then come back
can you use ambrosia for anything besides gifting it to unlock companions?
or can i sell some of this off for other thigns
It upgrades the summon the companions do to give you more uses.
ah
me: "YES! I finally killed Hades!"
2nd phase
me: surprised pikachu face
Ah the bliss of lack of knowledge that Hades has two phases.
I lost both of my death defy on the 1st phase too
Oh oh
Would you like me to tell you or would you like to find out on your own?
What to do with Bouldy?
love him
Once the Bouldy trinket acquired...
he gives you a small boon when you give him nectar
love him... or else
Give him love!!! He’s a really great listener.

Okay, who gave Bouldy a knife?
What have you got? A KNIFE! ... NO!

Dear gods what are these emoticons
ambiguity bonus, what does it do?
Conversely, if you don't believe in Bouldy, Bouldy won't believe in you
and your lies
Wish I had that emoticon
out of curiosity, i take it that the archive room is related to the whole "get sisyphus out of trouble" thing, but what exactly do i need to do?
Have to talk Nyx about it, do a run, talk to her and then you can get the contract. Do another run and then you will have contract available to purchase.
Suggest stacking up on diamonds
ah gotcha
You know how when you finish a run the narrator says something along the lines of let's just pretend you got clobbered here
Why don't they just make funny/stupid ways Zag dies like falling off a bridge or Gods playing a prank on him, every time he dies he goes back to the underworld whether he escaped or not, why not have a bit of fun with ti
well, you do see how he dies if you die during regular gameplay so that wouldn’t work
What is the % of chance to get 3 heroic boons following each others ?
I am not able to find any information at all about what the Pack of Punishment Benefits Package does online, does any one know it's a permanent upgrade or temporary bonus?
Anyone fancy helping a bro out?
I've been trying to reunite our lyrical lovebirds, but even though I've had dialogue eluding to finding Orpheus's contract as a means of reuniting them, I haven't had anything else from this subplot (this was about 10 runs ago).
Since then I've reunited Nyx and Chaos, unveiled Arthur and took it to the surface.
Am I missing something?
I've had both at the lock since the pre Demeter patch.
I just wanna reunite them T^T
@silent hull Benefits package gives enemies with armour a random upgrade, such as extra health, damage, AoE, Teleportation etc.
Some fun shenanigans to be had with that punishment 🙂
Ah so it makes the game harder for even more heat, thanks for the clarification it sounded like an bonus upgrade from the title
Yeah - I can understand the confusion 🙂
I think the minor prophecies lists all the available upgrades enemies can get
Should have called it a penalty package
It's benefits for the enemies
everything that adds on heat will make the game harder
yep - its a benefits package for the enemies, not for you
Guess I'm just going to make my own researches
i think someone here made a chart, but if you scroll a bit you can see it in the patch notes too
I dont know why, but I like to think that Routine Inspection makes one of the shades in the House just come into Zag's room and manually switch off the talents.
wait so how do i reunite people? i just give them nectar? i havent been doing that stuff yet xD
only one i gave nectar to is my boii Cerb because he is the best doggo
yeah, basically drown them in contraband bevrages and do some dumpsterdiving sped-up bureaucracy.
im glad dusa gave the ambrosias back lmao
and what means that clock heart?
not yet in the game
oh okay so i just wait i guess
jdjfjfjfj zag goes back into his room for something n sees a shade poking at his mirror and hes like >:0
Dusa giving back all those Ambrosias is a huge moral dilema. On one snake the Best Platonic Girl deserves it, on the other... those Aspects are not gonna upgrade themselves and I lowkey don't wanna go past 10 heat...
YEAH for sure.... in the end, i took them back and felt happy with my descision, but it was SO HARD to choose
well
she said she doesnt want your help
and wants to achieve stuff on her own
so yeah taking it back is the nice thing
yeah!! its growth for zag
actually Listening to what someone needs of him and respecting what they want, not what he thinks they want
why Zag never tries the nectar? i mean he is nice and gives it away but maybe he should taste it?
I think the reason is:" where I'm going these are not so rare, so I'm giving them to those who would need them more than me"
oh yeah i remember that line
Until he steps on a banana peel and dies, eternally.
imagine Zag finally getting to Olympus then accidently dies and goes back to Hades lol xD
hes not going to olympus though
He is going after his mother
i know
Going to Olympus is a lie so the gods can help him
He only said he is escaping
Speaking of which, gods in game can clearly die (like Hades), so what happens to Olympians if they "die". Do they just get to use the teleporter like Hades?
maybe they just end up in hell and be like "Hey Hades long time no see" xD
but i dont think gods die often
or if they ever died
xD
Or Dionysus after a really crazy night
among other things, they don't have authority, or at least have lessened authority, in the underworld
and I feel like the olympians are really not interested in going anywhere where they're not in charge
true
maybe minus outliers like artemis and hermes
Well Hades can "die" so I have to assume so can the Olympians, in game.
Dionysus has canonically died at least once in the myths
Pretty sure he was born a god
But I'm talking with game lore
Not many ways a baby can survive being torn apart
so he's been once, and presumably wasn't too enthused about the lack of drinks
Dios history.... Is... Stranger than others.
yeah he was a vampire
i think im missing something xD
But in game, our point of reference is Hades. Who can be corporeally dead (is that a word?)
As oppose to ethereally dead?
Then reconstitutes in Tartarus like the rest (assumedly). So do Olympians, if they get disembodied, go to Hades, curious ideas.
whose body can be killed
Do they just then teleport using the red portal?
Obviously zag should be able to do so, except he refused to learn how.
I’m on the boat that they just respawn on Olympus
Do you mean the teleporter in the administration chamber? I thought he just didn’t have the authority to make it work.
But why? We know a known OG Olympian can die and reconstitutes in Tartarus.
Zag says he never learned how to use it lol
Yeah he also happens to be the king of the underworld and that’s his home.
Right but their cosmic status didn't change with the duties assigned. Hades is not technically cthonic.
We could like, try stabbing Ares and see if he pops out of the pool of Styx.
I like that plan. He should be cool, violence is kinda his thing.
what if you just went hunting with Artemis and accidently shot her ?
because fly was on her back maybe?
Honestly I think that'd give her Orion flashbacks
can anyone tell me why Demeter doesnt like Aphrodite? im super sure Demeter was talking about it but i forgot the reason xD
im guessing demeter is by nature just a reserved person and aphrodite is very... extra
maybe even some resentment for falling in love with a mortal, so she might blame aph for that
I mean would your grandma enjoy the company of some nudist lady
yo, has anyone found the trigger for the new Zeus/Artemis Affinity unlock?
@silent pond you just have to keep talking, there's nothing special for em
I had repeating lines after some new ones, and then new ones again
according to the codex and the patch notes there is
huh odd, I guess
stuff coming in the future: https://imgur.com/a/cldSzjL
vs this https://imgur.com/sXy9p0U
is what I mean
both zeus and artemis have it, I cant seem to get the trigger for it, idk why
the lock
yeah, just keep talking
odd
I haven't gotten either of em myself but keep seeing new lines
so probably just gotta exhaust em
Nah just talking to them
Hey will progress the story that way and open up the rest of the hearts
I just don't want to ||get friendzoned again like with
||
I dont think I can take that kind of dmg again
Fisguinho's resolve is tested...

HOPELESS
didn't Artemis like, swear herself to chastity
and also the fact that she's Zag's cousin... 👀
Who knows, Greek mythology is like Alabama
She's been talking about some guy so I'm getting bad vibes from it
Some guy? All I've heard her talk about is Callisto
callisto is a girl lol
Callisto's a female nymph :X
At least it ain't popping in my head who it is
Aight
Wouldn't be surprised to lose to her either way

Man Eros is pulling you around hard
i mean, callisto/artemis is still like a thousand times more probably than zag/artemis anyway 😂 i believe greg did mention in here that thats not happening whatsoever
yeah seems like they setting it up for callisto and artemis given she calls her ||my callisto|| and stuff
i'm very excited!
how do i get the 4th aspecs of the weapons :c ?
you have to talk to achilles for the spear and nyx for the sword, idk exactly when those dialoges unlock tho
ohh so basicly progress with conversations ?
probably a mix of that and game progress? honestly no idea
okay, still thanks tho :D
You can check the pins for Arthur's :x
Alright I’d love to hear theories on what we’ll see next for the Future Weapon Aspects and who the next/last Olympian might be?
I thought we weren't getting new olympians?
i think it'll be people from different continents? like we have guan yu for asia, arthur for europe
idk who'd qualify tho
Oh my bad I counted 8 and I thought there was gonna be 9
On the off chance that we do get new Olympians showing up
I'd like to see Supergiant's version of Apollo
supergiant pls
We're apparently getting one more character after Demeter but not for a WHILE
It was asked in ask-supergiant a while ago, wasn't it?
So no sunlit abs? uOu
i think some olympians were also directly mentioned to be busy in some in-game dialogue, but idr if it was apollo
*smashes skateboard and phone*
Demeter says Hestia and Hera are busy :<
yes, ty!
i remember i wanted to see apollo and hera the most, tho i have no idea what their boons would be honestly
i think the gods in the game rn are great, i dont feel like the variety of powers is lacking
more boons is always exciting tho
if they went for apollo i could imagine more healing stuff but otherwise no idea
hera can summon one random family member asdfgh
Pardon for the long quote from #ask-supergiant “<@Anonymous user
Are there plans to introduce other gods even if they don't get their own boon? Who would you like to add the most?'
Greg: We have plans for one more character as part of our push toward exiting Early Access and getting to v1.0 of Hades. It was never really our goal to add all of the Olympians, vs. telling the specific story we wanted to tell. That's part of the reason why we opted for a frankly unpopular Olympian in Demeter over someone like Apollo, who is much more widely known, but less relevant to the specific story we're trying to tell here.
We didn't always plan on having Demeter in this game, and I'm really glad we did. Our cast has expanded to include characters we didn't originally anticipate, and at this point it has just about everybody I would have hoped for. There are tons of other compelling characters from Greek myth we think about, too, though we want to fully deliver on the many individual character stories we've set up.
yeah, it feels too broken for a roguelite in theory when i thought about it, and he also shares some stuff with artemis so maybe redundant
honestly i just wanted to see jen's take on him and the banter with artemis, i was less interested in... the actual game side of it LOL
same with hera i suppose
I totally agree with what has been said
And I also agree with wanting to see those interactions
Or at least one-sided cameos
but yeah. im so glad demeter is in the game over everyone else, shes been great to see
Absolutely
She’s a grumpy grandma but she’s still a well-written grandma
Let’s see
Hestia and Hera are busy
Apollo’s very popular and a bit redundant (might also be busy with being the sun every day)
They might end up freeing some time in a future update/paid dlc. I would gladly pay for more biomes/weapons/olympians.
That’s also fair
I’d be happy to support SGG more
Do you think SGG would/could do anything new with Hephaestus? Or Pan?
I know Hephaestus’ forge domain is kind of covered by Daedalus and Pan’s wild nature is covered a bit by Artemis
Apollo's god of plagues status doesn't really show up often so if he had any gimmicks I'd like something like a DoT that spreads
well, dionysus has that boon
which is why i feel like apollo would kind of be redundant
yeah! theres a boon that makes it spread to other enemies, iirc?
im p sure
Peer Pressure: Hangover-afflicted foes contaminate other nearby foes every 4 Sec.
dreams shattering even more :'D
if anything id imagine hed be a huge egomaniac like Theseus
"By my Father, there's two of them now..."
God, the fact now Arthur aspect allows you to bypass traps makes all the difference for me
As you barely could see them with the aura on
Yeah, no kidding, and it DOES feel more in the spirit of it to just tell the darn things "no"
That'd be NICE considering the aura makes it hard to tell where the platform ends and the magma begins but I haven't tested it yet
Some Titans would be cool as well. Anyway, so many characters in the Greek mythology...SGG has to do the cut! Or it would become Hades in Creed Odyssey 🙂
I won't be home for a bit still, has anyone seen updated patroclus model, I would like to see He
im updating my game rn in hopes of seeing him, but with my 100kb download speed.... it might be a while
pls post
@frozen jolt us @ anyone playing rn: pspspsps patroclus
it seems there is also new Hades model when he's in the house
patch notes say he has new animations but nothing about new model
upload somewhere else, like imgur or another discord server, and paste the link here
👍
Hades be looking sassy doe
https://i.gyazo.com/3492fe8c2b835b540d6bcea2004ad2fc.png thanks for the new skelly animation you snuck in, this is hilarious
lol what the actual
In my head I can just hear it belting out opera
"BEHOLD, BOYO!"
omg
the real endgame of hades is a visual novel
When you keep hitting Dusa after summoning her and she be like "Good thing we have this bond!"
Aww no! I didn't know you could hit her!
(I thought she was an enemy, please don't hate me)
You can, but she's invulnerable
I once accidentally knocked skelly into the lava immediately upon killing the hydra and he was like uh????
Whoops
Going back to the last Olympian discussion for a moment: I'm really interested to see whom they might choose. They might not even be a traditional Olympian. But it seems like SGG is very consistent in developing the stories of each of the Olympians as well
Artemis and Callisto
Zeus/Hades/Poseidon dynamic
Demeter and Persephone
Hermes' "undercover" work
Aphrodite and Ares
Athena as Nyx's contact
are there more olympians to be added? i thought demeter was the last one
or rather. another one
Greg mentioned that there would be one more, but it wouldn't be for a while
Or at least, that's what it seemed like in #ask-supergiant
I thought they said there was one more character, not necessarily an olympian
i mean.... it better be mom
I mean I think Mom is already established as going to be in the game
Heracles could be interesting...
Part of me is really holding out for Hecate actually
Or Hephaestus
I'd love to see Hephaestus
i know anything could happen but part of me is hoping the ending isnt going to break my heart, id really like a satisfying conclusion for all the time i spent fighting to get out of hell
if it's not mom, i hope maybe a styx npc? all the other biomes have npcs
either that or another face at the House 👀
i wonder how the game is going to be when you can actually escape, its terrifying to think about
With the Olympians finding out?
It's SGG, I expect the conclusion to be heartbreaking, or at least bittersweet
idk, with the way narrative events are set up right now, i'm not sure we're gonna be able to "escape" the first time
I'm thinking that if you forge maximum bonds with at least some of them, they'll be more understanding/less angry
there are many lines you unlock only after escaping the first time, and plenty of them say something like "i thought you escaped!" etc
its just that right now, every time you beat the game you go back to the house. and im assuming when the renovations arent ongoing its not gonna be like that
there's a line with hades you can only unlock at 20 heat and you've already escaped at least 20+ times at that point
either way im excited to see it
im gonna unlock as much as i can while the game is in EA and start a fresh save when its fully released, i think
I think the same goes for me
I'm very curious to see how they handle the ending, if there even is one. I feel like the current "loop" is quite fun and I wouldn't like if winning a run meant that you couldn't go for another one
Oh! You know what? Pan as a new character could be interesting especially with "panic" since he's responsible for its conception
And yeah that's fair
A lot of Hades' appeal is the replayability
It's part of the genre at this point
I've seen some people talk about Pan potentially being a NPC in Styx, like Sisyphus and the others
I'd be interested to see what they decide to do whether Pan is "alive" or not
Oh yeah because he's the only god to actually die right?
is there any particular reason that we suspect sggs putting pan in the game?
ive seena lot of discussion about him but idk why
Not to my knowledge
Not to my knowledge either
I think he's just obscure enough to be interesting
While being well-known enough to have stuff to work with
He would be interesting for sure
i wonder if they're gonna include the gods/beings that have aspects named after them
I know I've said it before and referenced Overly Sarcastic Productions, and actually "blarghhh" was here when I said it before
But Pan might not actually have died
talos would be wack but i could see eris maybe being in the house with her mom nyx
Oh Eris would be fun
oh lol i remember that.
Although I'm not sure if the goddess of discord would be allowed in the House
is discordia roman eris i dont remember
Discord and Strife are essentially the same thing in terms of definitions
Fair enough. The reason I said discord was because the sources I've learned about her from referenced her as Goddess of Discord
ah
"Eris ("Strife") is the Greek goddess of strife and discord. Her Roman equivalent is Discordia"
Confusing
honestly most of my greek myth knowledge is from osp and (embarassingly) pjo/hoo
So we're both right!
Probably either the Temple of the Styx or Tartarus
ooh styx would be interesting
There's a lot of chaos/discord/internal disharmony in the temple
And I wouldn't be surprised if she played a hand in that somehow
Oh my gosh Eris is the reason the Temple has a pest problem
there's also chiron, hera, hestia, nemesis, and talos but i dont think chiron or talos would show up at all
ooooo
i like that theory
though if eris would want to sow chaos, its definitely bold to work against hades
considering her mother is in allegiance with him
I had no idea who Talos was until now and honestly wow
all i remember is taht talos is big robot man
i think thats wrong
but thats all i know lmao
Something like that hahah
He was a giant bronze man that threw boulders at passing ships
i'd always imagined hestia like, the bittersweet, somber, eldest olympian. wise but also emotionally grounded, yknow?
I can't overstate how much I love Hestia
oh oops
???
didn't realize we had a censor
i just imagine her as like a sweetheart. imo she would best be in the game with like mini hearths that replace the fountains
Yep there's a swear filter
but yeah i was a bit thrown off by hestia's first mention in hades being 'this is the goddess with a literal GUN'
lmaooo
she SHOOTS PEOPLE
it was a PHASE
with her MACHINE GUN
though interestingly she is referred to as the "fire" goddess rather than the goddess of the hearth
so maybe we could get fire boons from her
I mean it's just common hospitality to give someone some nice warm bullets when they trash your home
but i think of her as a pacifist
so maybe the fountains becoming hearths is more likely
yeah it almost gives me dark souls pyromancy vibes. fire as both home and warmth and also the fire that happens when you fire a high power machine gun
was she ever the latter in myths?
i don't remember her mowing down chumps with a railgun but it's been a while since i cracked open daulaire's book of myths
The fire as violent punishment was more of a consequence of people violating her domain of hospitality
ah
Since hospitality was a very big deal in Ancient Greece
Tantalus is a good example of this
wait was sisyphus the king who killed his kids and put them in bread or was that someoen else
???
that was tantalus
sisyphus tied hades to a fence
Sisyphus was still a terrible host though
ah i'd originally heard it as hades
He murdered his guests and stole their stuff
There are several versions of that story
but hestia is also the firstborn of the chronos so i'd always imagined her as being sort of uniquely powerful or cosmically placed
thats more an error of people confusing death and the god of the dead
Every time I forget Greek mythology is weird as hell and then it slaps me in the face
b r e a d
i find it very funny in the context of this game that it was hades he tied to a fence
I thought it was Thanatos?
Ah
But yeah I think part of the reason we don't hear as much about Hestia is because you didn't really need myths to explain a part of society that was so intrinsic
Hestia was revered always
And everyone knew who she was
the only other myth i remember was that someone slighted her (possible ||rape?|| unsure) and the other olympians took revenge on her behalf and it was intense
Yeah that did happen
Hestia fell asleep at a party and a satyr tried to pull some funny business
i think you might've told me about it aximeck but i don't remember what
like months ago lol
the other non olympian in the aspects that is the most plausible is nemesis... is she also a daughter of nyx? i feel like she is
speaking of kids, i wonder why nyx claims that meg has no parents
cause iirc the furies came from ouranos like aphrodite
Maybe she means that in the same way one would say "I don't have a dad. He left for cigarettes 24 years ago and never came back."
wait whats this about a man baking his kids into bread what
tantalus
greek myths why you like this
was a wack man
i kinda wanna see him as the head chef for the pure irony
i thought aph came from like ouranos' genitals that turned into seafoam
does that make her the eldest?
Technically yes
ive heard that both aph and hestia are the eldest
I was just keeping it PG
Before they resolved the Orph/Eury I was hoping she would end up the chef/ in the kitchen
or is hestia just the eldest of kronos' lot
Hestia is the eldest of Kronos
ah
So technically still younger
@hollow charm So there's no explanation why Tantalus thought it was a good idea to a) murder a family member in Ancient Greece or b) offer cannibalism to the gods, but essentially Tantalus invites the Olympians over for dinner and kills his son Pelops and cooks him for dinner
yeah it's supposed to be a weird duality where she's both the eldest and the youngest of chronos's children
yeah he's just wack
maybe he thought it would be reverent since they killed their parents
human sacrifice was a big big taboo too so
Pelops gets brought back to life, Hephaestus makes him a shoulder for the one Demeter accidentally ate
ok so tantalus was just crazy
wait his child came back to life??
And Pelops goes on to father the line of kings that results in Agamemnon
hell yeah last time i heard his tale i thought they got no justice
oh
agamemnon
hmm
augh sorry
also i like to imagine the diagram for the olympians family tree is just a messy scribble
rephrase
I can't find anything about bread though? Where's the bread?
Depends on the version
gods go absolutely heckwild when they find out he killed a human in their name and tried to feed him to them
i might be thinking of bread being in association with hospitality
since its a common "host" food
In some Pelops is killed and then cooked, in other versions he gets whisked off by Poseidon for appropriately Greek reasons
"appropriately greek reasons"
You can check the video of "oversarcastic productions" or wtv is called
that made me laugh
Red explains it very well with visual help
unfortunately i haven't touched youtube in forever
I love OSP
i've always thought it was interesting that despite all the general bloody awfulness woven into greek myth and godly activity, human sacrifice is this universal taboo across all the pantheon
lmao
yeah the gods have strange morals
they're a reflection of the worst of humanity tbh
Except for Hestia
also re: aphrodite, she's the closest olympian to the primordial beginning of it all, since she comes straight from ouranos. so, makes sense with her insane greater call move lol
honestly i think aphs call and her trial should be wayyyyy harder
her trial is one of the hardest for me tbh
the other gods allude to it but aph is a goddess of literal fear
that heart moves so fast i usually avoid angering her
I find the heart projectile funny for some reason idk
The whole idea of running away from a heart
Achilles said it well. A broken heart is one of the most deadly things in the world
i always really liked hestia's portrayal in the percy jackson series, i thought it captured that kind of quiet, bittersweet home and hearth feeling
which kinda took me aback for such an action oriented ya series
i thought tone wise, at least
like how percy gives her pandora's box
and gives her hope as his offering to her
and the way she appears as this kind of quiet, demure counsel in the middle of all the hogwild YA-fic new york war excitement
and then the fact the whole book is straight up named after her, 'the last olympian'
tbh hades has had me really wanting to reread the percy jackson books
the pjo series is fun. not in the sense that it's like great revolutionary literature but more like its an enjoyable power fantasy
nothing against riordan tho
i really enjoyed just, the very unnerving sense of sadness behind it all? like below the quirky YA action there was always this unedgy darkness to it that i thought really set it apart
like the huge overarching themes of child abandonment
personally i felt he didn't tap into that aspect enough tbh
there's also the way it never really frames teens going on adventures as a good thing?
like no one really rejects the gods or higher beings in general despite all the bad things they've done
isn't that kind of the point of chronos? he basically built an army of abandoned teens who felt so rejected and unwanted by their family that an abusive monster could easily paint himself as their best option
and not in that like edgy athiest "the gods are dead" etc way, but they kinda do things because thats in their nature as demigods and no one really questions it
kronos? i suppose. i frankly don't even remember much about him other than possessing luke and something about a bridge
there was also that moment when he summons the shade of theseus in i think book 4, and is really taken aback that theseus is just a teenager, about his age, and is kind of disturbed to see someone he'd always imagined as an older man just be a kid, and the really awful implications of a kid who'd gone through the whole hero rigmarole
cause kronos's whole schtick was getting demigods whose parents never claimed them to join his army, and percy mentions a few times that he actually recognizes a bunch of the kids who ended up in joining him
oh yea that nemesis kid, cause he was the one that did the big blow to kronos in the throneroom
i think he died very tragically in a spin off book
nah he died there. i still remember that his last words were 'if they only had thrones...' before kronos kicks him off the side of the building
oh i have no idea who that is
i know for a fact that he was in the demigods adventure books thingie
he did spells in latin and it was cool
oh that sounds neat
Ethan Nakamura got his own spinoff book??? ouo
I liked the books he did that touched on Egyptian mythology and connected it all with his Greek/Roman series.
the egyptian and the norse ones were my favorites
out of curiosity, is there somewhere to find Charon's Shop theme?
i can't find it online
and i don't know what name it would be under in orpheus' song list
It's there
One of the low cost songs I believe
They have descriptions
His one says it was specifically commissioned for him
Happy to help!
talk about aphrodite earlier as the eldest olympian and the one closest to the weird eldritch primordial soup of the beginning has me vibing like, a terrifying, eldritch-looking aprhodite design
OOHHH I FINALLY GOT TO SEE NEW PATROCLUS MODEL im so 🥺 🥺 🥺 🥺
😭 i love him
"woe is me" - Pat
Yall are makin me jealous
He's beautiful.
if nyx and chaos, and eurydice and orpheus can reunite, let pat and achilles do it too >:V
surely its in the works..................... i can be hopeful right
yeah i think they'll do it... but i want it now :c
I wonder if that means Achilles will get some touch ups
his portrait doesn't have the hood covering his head but his model does
probably in the works, i'd say, like charon
btw does anyone know what that phrase he says is all about? ||fear is for the weak|| i mean?
given they gave pat a unique model, i would say all of the hooded npc models are going to get a unique touch by full release
the hooded portraits were always meant as placeholders, so the hooded models may all be placeholders as well. i wasnt sure if sgg would mess with them but if theyve done pat...
yeah, they seem to be placeholders :]
Your name is making me want to replay F.E.A.R.
And I already did that like six months ago.
I love to see how the game is slowly getting all those seemingly small visual touch ups, but when you look at it all together, it’s a HUGE improvement from what it was a year ago and so much work has been done. supergiant art team doing fantastic work
@vapid parcel probably generic pep talk
ahh that’s just my name D: no relation to scary alma
idk about that tho? it sounds like such a specific thing tbh
I mean, Zag had to face Hades
I don't think Alma is scary inherently, she was made into what she is through years of abuse and experimentation.
telling him not to crap his pants is a solid advice
Haha but I suppose she still causes like literally all the spooky to happen as a result tho so I understand the distancing.
idk anything about that game other that it’s horror soz
Dang those first two games are so good.
i mean you're right but also this doesn't seem like something achilles the way we know him would say like that? like he also said that every.setback is an opportunity to learn and that's a very different approach
but feel free to keep talking about it in #off-topic-discussion !
well, who was the god of fear?
I dunno, maybe a hint towards him
maybe
he also says it in the complete codex entry for Patroclus
ah
it just seems to be some sort of mantra of his
well, there you have it
He's just spitting facts
it's just pep talk
@modern hearth there is though
well, it’s not necessarily a very healthy one to have, yeah
babies go to Hades, too
if you shut down all your emotions like that
yeah
Why are they sending babies to Hades
def not good and probably trauma bc of the rage
Do they become baby shades
he went into after pat died
the fact that he passed it down to zag as well is :((
it’s time for therapy in the house of hades I think we could all use it lads
So do they reside in some sort of limbo area because aren't the areas you arrive at usually designated by your actions/morals in your life?
A baby is essentially a morally blank canvas
who knows
it’s time for therapy in the house of hades I think we could all use it lads
@frozen jolt oh def
Do they stay babies forever
It would suck to perpetually be an infant
Hades needs to reexamine this baby clause.
thinking about song of achilles where achilles tells patroclus, they dont allow you to be famous and happy, and just looking at sgg achilles and how remorseful he is.... oof.
Depends if you believe in tabula rasa
it would be great to be an infant perpetually
are there evil babies in hell
I don't think anyone ages downstairs, nor do they seem limited to the form they died in
shame you realize it too late
Not if your mind was that of an infant perpetually as well
I need to finish song of Achilles
its so good
exactly bc of this
very sad but so good
I have trouble reading books but i enjoyed it
[chanting] read it read it read it
i wonder what myth they use as base for his story
everything is new and wonderful
It'd be kindest to just let babies reincarnate and get a chance at ageing their souls a little before assigning them to an eternity of paradise or pain.
o:
WHERE
AHHHHHH
got u fam

Wow that makes me want to die from how cute that is

This is the way
this is the way
turn left
Here we go, this is a better crop.
Have to have the crossed arms for the full measure of disappointment Baby Than is experiencing.
perfect
Baby Zag reminds me of Baby Hercules from Disney's Hercules.
thats what it reminded me of!!!
It's the spirals on the elbows and the general chubbiness haha
Disney Zeus
it was bothering me fkdhdkfg
oh my god you're right
tbh the one thing i think is a bit weird is that partially they use the greek names for stuff but then they use latinized names for other stuff? it kinda confuses me xD
is it just me or anyone else thinks Nyx is just super mean now? before update i thought she was kind and sweet but now she is just mean all the time
I haven’t gotten any mean dialogue tbh
I think that just may be a coincidence revolving her events.
ive never seen her be mean?
I thought she was mean the moment I saw her bullying Dusa and that was way before update.
yeah that was mean :c otherwise not tho
maxed her dialogues before updates, and I think, i can tell how things are going before.. don't think she was that kind.. at least to everyone
I wouldn't consider that bullying Dusa so much as being rather strict considering who Dusa's ultimate superior (Hades) is.
That was the one time Nyx wasn't full-tilt "I support you and everything you do."
nyx is very matter of factly and i think some people may interpret that as mean in some instances
Mmmmmmmmm
also yeah it’s kinda weird they use some latinized names and other names that are greek
I think in a lot of instances, being strict directly conflates with being mean.
at the end of the days gods and primordial entities dont really experience empathy in the same manner as we do, zag is like. the outlier
he is the outlier and he should not be counted
That reminds me, does that mean when he's full grown he'll only be 3/4th the size of a God?
Are all the other Olympians the same scale as Hades?
humans dont continually regenerate upon experiencing horrifying deaths like zag does :v
no wonder Asterius calls him short one
agsgdgsggs
What development period of growth would you place Zag at rn
100%
Late teens/early twenties? Mid/late twenties?
mid twenties
I was thinking 24 - 26.
yeah same
But based on his design and general attitude he acts more like he's closer to 19 - 21.
I mean I love him but he's rife with the YA angst.
idk if id say that
we need to remember that his whole life just changed
and his father is abusive
I'm just basing it on the general age of warriors/soldiers/heroes back in Ancient Greece. 18 - 25 was generally their primetime.
who knows how he would act and what his personality would look like if he was raised by Hades alone, or surrounded with persons like Hades
but yeah, he kinda looks older that he is probably
oh god i don't want to imagine that :c my poor bby
okay another question. why Hades doesnt want Zag to leave? is it because Hades couldnt escape and is now jealous or does Hades actually like Zag? im pretty sure that they were talking about something i dont remember but i havent played in a while
i think hades just doesn t want him to escape his control
Hades is protecting him from something.
it's complicated and I think there's elements we haven't heard about yet
though I think primarily it's that Hades is controlling
||he also mentions there will be consequences greater than the endless winter if he tells Demeter who his real mother is||
If I were Zag I would be selfish af and tell Demeter asap lol
ahdhfjf idk if that's a good idea
Get me the heck outta here, Gma
given how she talks about everyone and persephone
maybe I think he is that kind of parents, who see kids as a property.. he already made up a life for him and gets irritated every time his property dares to mess with his plans
Throw hands at my dad while I finally escape
If you read the mythos
You would realize that would be a very bad idea
She literally created winter for "losing" her daughter
Which she's already done by the point of the game.
she is quite able to freeze the hell.. and heaven
Oh, yeah, Demeter is among my candidates for final boss battle if she finds out that her daughter had a child with one of the Olympians.
In the mythos she gets Perse back with the help of Zeus and co and then we get seasons.
well, Hades is hardly an olympian
he used to be tho
But this game seems to have diverged already because ||Hades doesn't know where she is either||
He's their brother.
and she doesn't want to be found by them
I wonder what her reasoning is
and why she didn't mention zag in her letter
Why knowingly drag out a winter
he's more of a chthonian, then? by appointment at least
hard to distinguish nature and office in this particular situation
hades is a mole olympian. live underground. also kind of a butthead
Also, where in the earth Persephone can be that she doesn't notice the neverending winter out there?
That's a theory
oof xD
How did she even escape
||nyx said she helped her||
i think theres more at hand beyond simply hades being controlling. he is and there's no question of that, he's controlling of every aspect of the house, not simply his dealings with zag. but why have achilles train zagreus if hades truly intended to make sure zag never escapes? that part doesnt add up, in addition to the fight commentary
maybe paid tons of money to Charon?
by not having anyone looking for her?
raised by mean mother, got to mean husband, don't think she wants at this point to be found
Ah blanketed her with night like she's doing Zag?
yep
hades was maybe more mellow before she left
He likely was.
tho I'd like to imagine she got some cool fights in
People have different sides
I think Hades might know more than he's letting on about the circumstances of Perseph's departure.
oh deg
Hades can be a total mitten when he was with Persephone. Who knows?
Cupid works in mysterious way
maybe he thought he was
i just hope they don't try to redeem hades
hades definitely knows more about whats going on in general than he lets on
but nah.. unlikely
Hades hasn't really done anything that needs redeeming.
I don't think Persephone in the surface either
He's just doing what he's literally being forced to do by his two a-hole brothers because they wanted the cooler jobs.
i mean... he's clearly abusive toward his son?
Otherwise Helios, her uncle will spot her already
Verbally and implied physically abusive, in the past.
yep
yep
My point is that that's in character for him, not a trait that requires a redemption arc.
An abusive person doesn't require a redemption arc?
and I’d hate this game to do the thing popular media enjoys doing, which is redeeming abusive parents
yeah exactly
That reminds me the whole speak Zag made in some early boss fight conversations lol
let zag beat his ass
i dont think anyone has ever said he needs a redemption arc, simply that they hoped there wouldnt be one.
we've talked about that the way he treats others can be understood.. why is he like he is
so theres no reason we need to make the assumption he will get one
but still, he did make mistakes
Sorry, didn't mean to put it like that.
I think there will be some softening of his character, but his relationship with Zagreus will never become truly loving at this point.
It's okay to provide context through which we can sympathize with his actions.
But it doesn't make him less of the bad guy.
Okay, I agree with that.
wait until now i thought Hades tried to leave because he didnt want to be stuck under surface forever but now i just realized he tried to find Persephone for sure
but a big major thing people are forgetting is that we still have an incomplete story, and we dont have all of the information that led events to happen in the way they did. nothing will ever change the actions hades has taken but we dont have all the pieces
yeah i just don t want them to make excuses or anything
most of the bad guys had some issues.. bad things in the past
Sympathetic villains are 10/10.
but i am very excited to see where it goes
But still villains.
something that made them broken
Unless your writing is good enough that you can pull off a Zuko.
I think the big three drew lots for their positions
In which case I would love for SGG to Zuko Hades.
zeus got heaven, poseidon got sea, hades got underworld, pretty much at random
But I doubt that's the direction.
God, Zuko is so good.
zuko is awesome
He was also never on top like Hades kinda-sorta-not-really is.
yeaaaah
I could see a... "this is why your dad is how he is, but you don't have to forgive or like him"
Zuko is imo one of the best written characters, just, in general. Of all time.
So a lot of his venom early in the series was cushioned by people able to go "Uh, no."
Agreed, Cale.
"just understand that there are reasons your jerk dad has become this way"
Completely agreed.
actually, there is a lot more in Zag from Zuko.. than in Hades
yeah def
beside he has never been a bad guy
and not just the eye thing
maybe... what's a comparable Bad Dad Redemption Arc
Well I was using Zuko more as a verb than a descriptor.
As in, to supply a character arc written well enough that his transition from villain to hero would actually work
But given how he's treated Zagreus even the greatest of intentions don't really make him a good guy. Just a bad guy who has done some good things.
I don't think Hades is in a place where he could fully transition into a heroic character, not just in the ending we have left.
there's nothing in the dialogue currently to suggest they would ever go that route
yeaaaah
well, etiher that, or some kind of Dio Brando thing.. bad childhood, cruel father, abandoned by everyone, but still you want to hate him.. as a worst person in the world
either a good bad_guy, or good bad guy
The only sort of 'twist' I could see happening is that maybe Hades actually conspired with Persephone on her escape and they're both planning something.
like a divorce?
That I could see.
a divorce wouldnt be a twist that would mean anything to the game's narrative lol
Then that conspiracy is a bit too cruel with her leaving that note
possible but he'd be a very good actor
signed a chthonic prenup
what if Zag was not so much wanted child and Hades knows it?
and he doesn't want him to ever know the truth
he def acts like he doesn t want zag either
so illegitimate?
The biggest problem I have with Persephone is that she didn't mention Zag at all, while she mentioned the dog
yeaah
Maybe she didn't write it
Like, is she even his real birth mom?
its not so much that he doesnt want zag as it is that he expects zag to contribute to the house as everyone else is fully obligated and expected to, so of course he gets angry that zag says no and blows that off. there's also nothing to suggest that zag was an unwanted child.
Did Demeter start the winter when Persephone initially arrived at the Underworld?
Or did it start at some point in time after she left.
well, that was just a speculation
Like, did Zag pop out of a pomegranate fruit or sth? How on earth did you not even mention your son, woman?
conspiracy theory
yeah i think we're just bouncing ideas arojnd
tbh i feel like the only way that really makes sense is if he wasn t born yet?
Yeah I guess we don't know the exact timeframe of her leaving, even.
Time is weird in the Underworld.
the ultimate moral of this story is communication is very important since nearly everyone in the game has communication issues, good grief
ahdhfhf
in different ways
Do you think Zag's flaming feet will be an issue on Earth
doesnt he leave charred footprints in the snow
According to Demeter (and Zeus), Persephone just dissapeared one day (Helios did see her entering the Underworld, Demeter refuses to believe it). So I guess over time Demeter grew weary and became completely disregarding to mortals.
i literally just finished a run i should remember this but i dont
He leaves charred footprints literally everywhere he runs
well the snow is on the surface
The snow is being useful in counter-acting the fire part
But I mean in areas where there is no snow
Zag would leave watery holes every where.
brace yourselves: Demeter is here
How tf is Zag going to walk around without starting fires everywhere
zag walks in grass and starts a fire instantly
Or just mud.
Also do you think the flaming feet contribute to his restlessness
Zag needs tungsten shoes
That's like restless leg syndrome x 10000
Imagine trying to sleep but your feet are on fire
He's always doing runs because he can't stand still
i think that migjt just be adhd xD
percy jackson
How how do you think his feet are in degrees
have yall thought about how all the chthonic denizens that are shown with their feet are barefoot.... zag, hades, thanatos, hypnos, and all the furies
shoes are for the weak
Most of the Nyx's side can fly. So...
His feet are hot enough to cause combustion on contact, even without an obvious fuel source besides oxygen.
Is there oxygen in Hades?
guess there are other gases in the underworld
Like, if I can float like most of them, you would never see me touching the ground ever
and magma is still much hotter than his feet
i just think its funny. its hard to tell with the furies but they are definitely barefoot as well
welcome to the underworld, leave your shoes at the door
also, we should consider atmosphere pressure
We are a float only household
And the color of the fire at Zag's feet is deep red, which means they're clocking in at around 600 - 800 degrees C.
abandon thine shoes
tho i we don't know if achilles wears shoes and i think sysiphus wears shoes so maybe only the gods
well, if he ever gets out and takes part in some kind of dancing activities, he better watch himself.. consequences can be disastrous
That's roughly the same amount of heat that a house fire puts out at full blaze.
@vapid parcel theyre shades though, not gods or aspect incarnates or anything
Therefore, Zag's feet have the potential to burn down entire Greek villages.
yeah i know, i assume they wear what they wore in death
what if when he dashes, the heat raises guickly, causing combustions
tho... that also means patroclus is still wearing achilles' armor
and that's why there are these traces everywhere
I don't think so. Theseus should have been a really old man when he died
considering.. dashing is not something a mortal can be able to do
maybe shades can choose how to look.. or they look like people remembered them
All this Greek talk has me craving a Gyro
well.. then you're just a amorphous entity in a hood
gasp
but i do like the idea of you wearing what you wore in life, just for the sad drama
I feel like a lot of shades would just be naked then
Those Ancient Greeks were wilin'
They'd all be oiled up too
u sure that's what the shades want xP
it's hot underground
Do they even feel temperature as shades
shrug
What should I have for dinnerrrrrr
this is fine
y
What should I have for dinnerrrrrr
@modern hearth sushi
No sushi place here is open with this Corona outbreak going on lol
pizza
Food establishments can only deliver and carry out.
i keep swearing on accident 😭
it's ok
I have to be super conscious of it because normally my vocabulary is very uh
same
there are no more grains and pasta at our place
oooof
everything was swept away
commercial voice you can! yes you! with only the right ingredients and recipe, you can make pasta
Yeah if only all it took was flour, eggs, water, and sometimes (but usually) salt.
(comment with sound)
huh
even if they don't need to
Shades eat the ghosts of all the food that gets sacrificed to the Gods
also yk zag keeps commenting that "they must have lots of these upon olympus" when theres a huge pomegranate tree in his home
agshfhfjh
when persephone ate those pomegranate seeds the reason she has to stay three months, in myth, is that the seeds are plastic and won't digest
