Each heat level (up to 10 heats, for now) has 4 bounty slots. It's either Diamond (which is used to buy music for the music stand, for now) or CKey (which is used to upgrade weapons' Aspects.
It's designed as an incremental heat system for us players to unlock each heat level's bounties. Also for new players to slowly increase their skill level, heat by heat.

the bow has a lot of weird aspects tbh, esp Hera
and its Zag aspect is kinda just meh, whereas the gun's does help you output more dps and having more ammo can be pretty helpful depending on your build
the gun's upgrades are a bit simple and its mainly cause the rail lacks damage compared to the rest of the weapons so the aspects just provide bucketfulls of damage

Hades Aspect seems to be the go-to one for me. The dmg buff on attack and special seems to be way better than Eris Aspect on Rail.

In some versions, Ares was supposed to be that one (being the first born Child and all). But Zeus got clever and avoided that legacy by giving birth to Athena first instead.

Well, in term of Medusa's corpse, 2 things for sure spawned out of it: Pegasus the winged horse, (and also a giant or some sort). There are mutiple things also said to be spawned out of it, vipers, corals etc.
But definitely not other gorgons.
(But then again I remember how problematic the story about Medusa could be yikes 😬.
Feminism issues aside, it is said that Medusa could just have been a black African woman with dreadlocks, and the ancient (male) greeks were terrified of her. So they made her to be the OG nasty woman

I can't speak to the origins but the Ovid version is not exactly feminist. With Medusa being err...ravished by Poseidon in Athena's temple and Athena being angry at Medusa for it. The transformation was a punishment—taking her from beautiful enough to tempt a god to so hideous she turned those that looked at her to stone. Fun times. But it's possible she slept with him willingly and was apparently a priestess? Is that the word? To Athena so that's why she was angered. There'sa few variations.

Poseidon and Athena have a very long standing feud, and it began with the founding of Athens. Both of them want to be the patron god for this city, so they have a contest between each other. Long story short, Athena won.
So someone could see that Poseidon's dirty "behaviour" right inside of Athena's temple was a petty pay back. (Poor Medusa 🤦♂️)
And they are not the only gods who are feuding with each other in Greek myths btw.
Artemis and Aphrodite are supposed to be feuding with each other like how Athena is feuding with Ares in the game!
Aphrodite made Theseus' (third) wife to fall in love with her stepson Hippolytus - a (rare) Artemis follower, simply because Aphrodite just can't stand virgins who deny loves in their life. So what happened? The stepmom got rebuffed by her stepson, so she made a fake r*** accuse via a letter, then ☠ herself.
Then Theseus fell for that lie, asked Poseidon to kill Hippolytus in his behalf. Artemis managed to save his body and reborn him into a Roman god of the woods instead.
To pay back, Artemis killed Aphrodite's most famous lover, Adonis, by sending a wild boar that can't be killed with normal weapons. (Some say it's Ares who did it. But I say, tomato toMato)

Also, right now I just have some Weapon Aspects ideas. Hear me out. How about...
- Cupid/Eros Aspect for the Bow 😈🏹😍. It has 2 different types of Attack arrows (Golden ones and Bronze ones) with different effects that you can switch in between. It's a brand new mechanics that maybe a bit too much to make in the game. 🤔 (but then again, it could be a cool addition to the game during a Valentine update, yah?!! 😁)
- Athena Shield, which has the Medusa Head on it. Turn your Charged Shot into a AoE shield Bash attack that stuns/turns enemies to stone for short period of time. Your next attack on stunned enemies deal extra/critical/KO dmg.
- Hephaestus Aspect for the Rail: turn the rail into a flamethrower (with shorter time in between each Attack, so normal stuffs like Zeus Attack or Support Fire become even more broken lol) 🤭
- Apollo Bow? Give you extra bird eye view of the (bigger) chambers and help you deal more dmg on distant enemies.
Or maybe the next weapon in the game is (a) musical instrument(s) 🤔🤔🤔 that would change its apperance with each Aspect. Apollo Lyre/Athena Aulos (flute)/ Pan's Flute. Or even a Zeus Electric Bass Guitar or sth lol 🤭🤭🤭.

Instead of Athena aspect, since she comments on how her own shield is only a replica of that shield, implying she didn't wield it, how about calling it the Perseus aspect instead. And for the bow, I'm kinda hoping for a Heracles or Odysseus Aspect myself, which could increase charge time but drastically increase power shot damage. Was gonna go for crit on Power Shot, but then they changed the standard bow to crit.

Is there anything official on what exactly Zag is the god of ? My first thought would be that he'd be like....a God of Rebirth/Renewal because he's the son of Death and Spring, and the point of the game is to kill him and bring him back again and again basically. His goal is also to escape from "death" (the underworld) to "life" (the surface) as well, but Persephone kind of already covers the rebirth base with the seasons.

It's like the other bosses, just gotta get used to it. Can take some time, but eventually, you'll never get hit by the main head. I'm sure you've noticed how the lava blops before a head comes out, so you can know where the first head is gonna come out of, instead of running around until there is one to fight. Lets you plan a bit. There are also two urns on the top left and top right corner of the room with kebabs.

No, you unlock new aspects for your weapons. It's still Zagreus wielding them.
Every aspect has a different thing. The Achilles aspect is a spear aspect that changes your special: you still throw the spear, but instead of it coming back when you use the special again, you bullrush to it.

Yeah, Greek Gods have different Aspects of them in different locations too. For example, Aphrodite was considered a goddess of War in Sparta.
Spoiler: the game maker played with the idea of Zag being one and the same with Dio in a very funny way (Poor naive Orpheus 🤭🤭🤭).
Some used the myth about Zag as an origin story for human beings in general.
So to me, it could be interesting for Hera's introduction (if there's ever a plan for her in the roadmap). She could show up instead of assisting, but challenging him instead.
She could then give him great poms in return, or her god boons could be like Chaos' instead: she does not give primary effect boons with status, just bonus buffs in general. I have just some ideas how to make her boons set different to Chaos'.

It's very much in Hera's nature to not show her powers and purnishments directly. She often sent others to do the dirty works for her (she's THE Queen after all. Ask Hypnos, he should know all aboit it).

OHH I thought Zagreus was entirely made up by Supergiant for the game, that's so interesting ty.
Greg mentioned at the pax west panel he was inspired by a small bit of mythos that suggested Persephone had a son but I didn't think there was more details then just that.
@karmic meteor I had a lot of trouble with the hydra too. I don't know what weapon you like best so I'm not sure if our strats should be similar, I use Aegis though. It helped when Hypnos drew my attention that different colored heads use different attacks. What I do is I take down one head at a time, starting with the first that appears or switching if its using an attack I have trouble with. Really whats gonna help your survivability best is understanding each head's attack and how to avoid it, and that's just going to come with experience. Lava patches are also aimed at where you currently are, if you're getting them thrown at you, just switch to another head where the ground is clear.
As far as actual weapon stuff if you also use Aegis, I'm just a real brute lol. I call it "slash 'n dash". I just attack nonstop while dashing to crank as much damage out as I can as fast as possible. Because well....if its dead, it cant hurt you. Because dashing can avoid attacks and Aegis' attacks also destroy enemy projectiles, as long as you're watching what attacks are coming at you you can avoid taking a lot of damage like that. Because I play like that I focus on boons that raise my damage and defense, especially Athenas dash-to-deflect and revenge damage for defense. For attack, you can rack up a lot if you get the poison or doom effects on your main attack.

Kill things before they kill you is a solid strat. xD As solid as "maybe don't get hit". It'll definitely work! You're absolutely right about figuring out which attacks the heads do being key. It helps a lot in prioritizing during the chaotic latter stages and altering an approach based on what spawned in can be the difference between coming out of that battle with one death defiance less or cruising through without getting hit at all.

dabs awww yeeee. Yeah I keep aiming for 0 damage especially cuz im leveling pierced butterfly atm, but still working on that lol. On the other hand when they give you so much life and healing opportunities I don't make it a priority. I think Aegis is good for that since it has the block as well as the projectile destruction. I feel like aiming for something like 0 damage though can raise your awareness in general even if you don't manage to avoid everything so its a fun challenge for yourself.
I kinda wanna get better at rail?? Especially now that they have the Eris aspect, and the fact its probably easier to avoid things with something long ranged. After going all in with aegis for so long though playing it distant and safe isn't as fun for me.

Sword's a little the same. But the combo and the hammer upgrades make it a bit fresher and combat can get very frantic the moment projectiles get involved. It's great and keeps a good rhythm going.

Hmmm you know i know i said it can be repetitive but i take that back, one of the reasons I actually like aegis is my playstyle has to shift a lot depending on what boons I'm given. The special and attack are so different your playstyle can change a lot depending on what your power ups end up being for.
And for shield aspects i've just been using zag so far because the damage reduction is helpful for my reckless style haha.

I think this is different depending on what religious or mythological construct you view hell through. Definitely in the sense of Christianity (and especially in the modern day since our modern view of "hell" is based off the interpretations in Dante's Inferno) this is the case, but I'm perfectly fine with it being a bit more vague, as the greeks never really distinguished between "heaven" and "hell" and hell (being the underground fiery pits of doom that we love to make them in the modern age) relates better to "underworld" than heaven.
Just my thoughts on the feedback. I like calling it hell just so I can make memes about me getting upset at my dad and escaping hell :kappa:

Let me explain: Due to the Underworld's custom, in order to pass the river Styx and enter deeper level of the underworld, dead people must give their coin to Charon in order to be on his boat. That's why Ancient Greeks were buried/cremated with coin in their mouth/over their eyes.
The fact that Skully still manages to keep his coin IN Tartarus is... suspicious 🤨🤔😑. He should have given it away to Charon way before being in the depth of the Underworld.

I just discovered a very nice UI touch! The weapon aspects that appear in your left sidebar are color-coded for rarity. I have a max level Nemesis aspect and it has the gold legendary border and my level one Achilles has the blue rare border. Very nice polish! I'm definitely not the first to notice, but I was so excited I wanted to say something 😂 It's very accurate to the display of your build's power and it feels like an accomplishment to have a legendary aspect after all that work!

@onyx spoke the point is that they shouldn't still have their coin(s). The Greeks made a big deal out of it, as people who didn't have a proper funeral with such coin custom on their dead bodies would be denied of entry to the Underworld by Charon and stuck forever at the entrant(s) of it. Being all miserable, ghostly and never be reborn again, etc.
That's why in the Illiad, the greek heroes tried their best for a whole chapter defending Patroclus' body. Or why both sides/Homer made a big deal out of having proper funerals for their dead heroes (even Patroclus allegedly came back to Achilles in a dream to ask him to do it).
So those coins in the Underworld have really big values, as in you can free all those stuck souls out of forever damnation just by giving it to them and allowing them to be on Charon's boat.

So, does anybody have any theories as to why Zagerius bleeds? Papa Hades says its an aberation, that you shouldn't be proud of it, and not to tell anyone. Seems pretty clear that it's more than an aberation, but since Persephone is a god (traditionally) and she's supposed to be Zag's real mom, where'd he get the mortal ability to bleed?

My current wild theory: in abandoning her duties, Persephone became mortal, so Zagreus, while fully a god, is still half-mortal (because magic bloodlines, don't worry about it)

Alecto may not meet a lot of gods OR fight with them all the times. Their jobs are to hunt down mortals only (because a lot of gods committed all sorts of Furies' Punishing crimes! Especially the "children killing their parents" one!)
Also, Greek gods bleed and get injured all the times I must say. The birth of Aphrodite, Aphrodite's blood turn into roses myth, Ares and Aphrodite both got injured in the Illiad, not to mention Eros's burn from just candle wax by Psyche (man! the Aphrodite fam got injured all the time now I think of it!), etc.

Well, I did have to refresh my memory on this one. Ichor is said to retain the immortality power of god's foods: In The Iliad, Homer writes that “(The gods) drink not wine but nectar, eat not the food of mortals, but ambrosia; thence it is that they are bloodless and from death exempt.”

There's also the thing with Achilles telling Zag to let the Olympians think the reason he's trying to escape is so he can join them on Mt. Olympos, and not to tell them the real reason is he's looking for Persephone.

@onyx spoke to build on what people already said, Orphism (which had a fascination with Orpheus mainly) considered Dionysus to be the reborn form of Zagreus. I'm a little dusty on the exact story but the jist of it is that Zagreus left the underworld, was promptly attacked and eaten by titans, but Zeus managed to save his heart and used it to regrow a new person around it
And that new person was Dionysus
So they're basically loosely put reincarnations of the same person

The older one is that while roguelites have the permadeath and procedural generation of Rogue, roguelikes go a step further and have its turn-based, grid-based gameplay.

Also, I just found out that Zeus has been a consistent exposition source for all the Hades' backgrounds!
With my current save I have been ignoring Hades' interactions at the House completely (his pickering like a Ok Boomer just reminds me of my Nparent, so I noped the hell out of that!)
But today I was in a good mood and finally opened up all his dialogues. So, all the interactions at the house got lining up, from Hades yelling at Hypnos straight to Hades fights with Nyx.
Interesting enough, Zeus also suddenly talks more about his past with Hades out of the blue!

I have the suspicious feelings that ambrosia would be used in Trial of the God chambers. Like when you choose one god, his/her relationship improves. While the other god gets mad and your relationship with them lose a heart.
And if you want to earn that second god boon, you need to offer them an ambrosia right after defeating all their creeps.

So I just now beat the final boss (49th try is the charm, I guess) and narrator guy says there's more... later. So we could possibly be having another area on the surface? Or do y'all think it's just going to be an extended epilogue cut scene? I could see a sequel of Zag fighting his way to the peak of Olympus after the gods basically go "Good job getting out, but your kind isn't allowed on the mountain itself."
But then, Supergiant doesn't really do sequels.

Hey quick question. If we wanna talk about the final boss fight, I assume it HAs to go into this chat right
So I just had an amazing Sword run and beat Hades! I was only about to capture the last few moments of the fight. I had:
- Hammer Upgrade that made Thrust deal bonus damage and crit.
- Hammer Upgrade that made my attacks shoot a wave.
- Artemis boon that boosted attack damage and crit.
- Artemis boon that shoots minor projectiles each time I attack.
- Artemis/Aphrodite Duo boon that deals more crit damage to weak enemies.
Each time I attacked, I was shooting like 7 projectiles and I was critting for well over 500 damage! It was an epic run. Dad didn't stand a chance.
Also, I found a weird bug with the Poseidon Greater Call where I could somehow move left but Zagreus was "stuck" moving right constantly?

When we go outsite || to fight hades|| there is snowy. Just found on wiki that there is 'cold ❄ underworld'. The problem is that it's Norse Mythology. What do you guys think?
Can be the snow just a mist? So it could explain somehow that it's become bloody after killing him

Persephone is supposed to be confined to the Underworld during the Fall and Winter. Due to her eating 6 pomegranate seeds in the Underworld on her first visit, she's confined to the Underworld for 6 months, and can only return to her family for the other 6 months of the year. The reason there are even seasons to begin with is Demeter taking out her anger against Hades for stealing her daughter. (yes against the world, the gods are great arent they)
So the fact that she's not there in the winter is... in greek myth at least, a very major deal
She's supposed to be there but isn't. (Which is kinda the big deal about her not being in the underworld)

To clarify things further, I will lay out the structure of the Underworld (which is different depending on which Greek historian and Greek era your drawing from) as SGG has chosen to interpret it: You start each run in the "deepest/furthest-from-the-surface" part of the Underworld; that is to say, the House of Hades. You then transition to the labrynthine passages of Tartarus where those mortals who were wicked in life (as defined by the gods) recieve their eternal punishments. Next up is the Meadows of Asphodel, where all the "normal" people go after death. Normally it's a vast & verdent field of flowers, but is currently awash in flames for some reason (the game lore mentions this at several points, but never goes into detail). Then comes Elysium, the place where those mortals who lived their lives doing heroic deeds of valor in service of a great cause found everlasting joy and fulfilment. Finally, you reach the Temple of Styx where Cerberus stands watch to prevent any mortal from gaining entrance to the Underworld. And behind the giant double doors he guards? There lies the surface of the world; the realm of mortals.
