he reminds of a certain type of guy who always wants to show people his knife collection
B-but I have a (small) knife collection 😰
I don't mean it's bad to collect knives
but like. some people collect knives and are really weird about it
Ah, Ares. Sharing voice actor with Dionysus and Theseus lol
I like him. So polite. Finally someone who doesn't make Ares be a complete angered madlad just because he's the god of war
is hades basically the same story as encanto?
I've not seen Encanto, but I know the gist. I'd love to hear your reasoning!
Black sheep child of a great family who rules their region from their magical house
The main character is only member of their family with no real role or place
The cousins and siblings are all magical and do things like control the weather or have super strength
Character tries repeatedly to understand why they don't fit on while investigating their past, causing the head of the family to repeatedly reprimand them and insist that if they persist in their quest it will destroy the house
Character eventually finds and brings home estranged family member, making the family whole again, the house stronger, and causing the head of the family to admit they were too harsh
prophecies about the character and decorating the house also feature prominently as themes of the story
thats crazy
@wicked cosmos to unlock aspects you have to talk to people
Just make sure to talk to everyone after every death
Especially Nyx and Achilles
I freaking forgot about the other aspects
If we can agree that Than is Isabella and Meg is Luisa than we have no problems here.
hi
could anyone help me? I can't unlock the last hearts of Patroclus and Achilles, I've almost completed everything in the game but something must be missing
Have you reunited them yet?
not yet
Yeah you gotta keep talking to them until you get the option to do that
Just gotta keep doing more runs
But I don't know what to do to bring them together
And making sure to talk to Patroclus
ok thanks
lol, demeter has a voice line specifically for if you kill hades by shatterinhim with winter harvest
she just throws shade at him
ohh yeah she says "reap what you sow"
there's so many little throw away lines
the rare fungus is real
the narrator said that's how i died once
and i thought he was just making up BS
but then I saw a shade in the house say they died the same way

(No spoilers beyond Escape 7 please)
I just successfully escaped for the 7th time, when ||Persephone tells Zagreus not to visit her anymore||. But I accidentally skipped past some of the conversation as I was moving my laptop 😦 Is there anywhere I can find that dialogue again?
In game no
Is this it? https://youtu.be/fqWTJguklZ4?t=358
It is, thank you!
Oops! I've fixed the timestamp
i love how hermes is basically a speedrunner
he's always making meta commentary on my runs
see
If that were true
Why’s he jealous of my sub12 runs
🤨
oh that was him being sarcastic
he's actually dissing you
which housemates can u rizz in hades
currently rizzing meg n than
||heard u can have a polycule||
yes to the ||polycule||
dusa as well, but ||she ends it to focus on her career||
she's brat coded she listens to charlie xcx
dusa is such a bad bih
may be showing my age but i don't know what charlie xcx or bih are
oki,she listens to britney spears
megera listens to eminem and thanatos listens to linkin park
zag dunno
brat coded? isn't bratty like... high maintenance?
dusa mostly just tries to stay out of the way
Than
Oh “meg n than” nevermind
yeah it’s them and dusa and you’re done 😔
its new lingo dunno what it means but it seems in the bimbo-core vain
but zag wants that sleepy femboi gods damn it!
You lost me on the lingo so hard
There’s already enough incest with Than
didn't they technically choose the correct greek canon to make it not?
zag is listed as thans freind n coworker
they go down on each other the moment they realize they are not biological brothers 🤔
than is too buff for ma taste but zag needs love
if you prefer twinks you unfortunately can't romance hypnos
Orpheus is married, eh
uhhh
A'll rizz em both seperately
"till death do us part"
because everyone knows ancient fictional greeks used modern chrisitan wedding vows
Pretty sure they frowned upon adultery anyway in many cases
Mmhm unfort
gonna cheat on megera with the murder girl
Well, it was nice knowing you
the murder girl is ironically the easiest fury to kill
it changes a lot with weapon and heat
any weapon seems to melt her
plus her tiny last 2 arenas
fists, gun, spear doesz best in that order from current experience
I think Tis is the hardest
Alecto because she inflicts emotional damage
I think tis stops the timer during her invulnerability because its a cutscene
which is nice because the other two burn time with a lot of rude invuln periods
The timer never pauses in Tis fight
Also, the others are faster because they are eaiser to instaphase
shes just flirting
Finally someone agrees with me
she has the flower effect when she threatens u
have had gfs and friends who are that aggro but dont really mean it(mostly)
A wish alecto could be in the house
alecto means it
Hopefully we all take good care of Battie
if you take care of battie
battie will take care of your mini bosses
bad? or lawful neutral?
Lawful good!
why doesnt battie fly around with me tho
A expected a floating companion
okay drake
That would be cute
My names not Drake
After Persephone goes back to the underworld what is the reason that zagreus goes to grecce?
Gardenin'
thats it?
It ain't much, but it's honest work. Also, the House assigns him the position of security researcher for the Underworld
like your being serious?
then why is the furies, hydra, theseus, and hades continuing to fight us?
My always serious. Security research to make Hades inescapable
I just thought it was to keep the illusion that zagreus is still trying to escape to Olympus so the gods don't get suspicous
I am legit confused
one half is telling me that your joking
but the other actually believes you
The latter half is right
I need someone else to confirm
cause this feels wrong
I just got pass the credit and omg your not lying
Yes, that is your job
Zag gets a job post credits correct
This is also true, but it is also his job
Of course this is all just an excuse for the game to keep going indefinitely
It’s also a nice way to give zag a purpose. I think he is the god of escape.
God of sass
When he sasses his dad he totally slays
I have to appreciate that the devs just didn’t make Zagreus an edge lord when they could have just as easily done that
“Oh he rebels against his dad and kills off the wretches, what an edgelord make him like Dante from the DMC reboot”
“NO WAIT, we will make him a gentleman and a scholar!”
I think zag is seen as a god of rebirth in some greek texts, which is like, about the most fitting thing for this game i can imagine
to us he's the god of roguelikes
He is absolutely not a scholar I’m sorry 😞
i think you mean disciple
Better word
blood and DARKNESS
and a f''''boy
lol
My personal headcanon for why Theseus calls upon Artemis when Zag has a boon from all Olympians is that Artemis has a deal with Hippolytus to help him. You may wonder why the son Theseus killed would want to help his dad. Well, I Hippolytus forgave Theseus on his deathbed! This is what I like to believe, anyways
I mean, it's not just Artemis whom Theseus can call
Or do you mean "this is why Artemis listens to Theseus"
It's "This is why he defaults to her over a more fitting god, like Aphrodite (who he built a cult for in Athens after the labyrinth) or Poseidon"
how many times you fight theseus?
Several, but I saw on the wiki that it said "If Zagreus has boons from every Olympian, Theseus will call for aid from Artemis."
What they are saying is a thing the game has where if you have every god in your pool, the game defaults to artemis being called
Most commonly seen on fresh file runs where you only have 4 gods available
oh
i assume it was just a codign choice and not an intentional thing
but yeah, don't think she'd like him at all
he's more of a zeus/poseidon type of guy
I've always just gone with the explanation of "even if a specific god doesn't like Theseus much personally, they sort of have to help him when he asks for it because he's a legendary greek hero and the champion of elysium"
It likely is, but as I said, it's my headcanon and the one connection between Theseus and Artemis is his son whom Artemis favored so much she personally had a cult made in his honor when he died
I just wanna say I appreciate your "whom"
knock knock
who's there?
to
to who?
don't you mean to whom?
@atomic forge i found something
Hades by Supergiant Games, is one of the most beloved rougelike games of all time, and with the release of the second installment in the series, Hades II earlier in 2024, it's time to explore a world riddled with tie-in's to ancient Greek mythology and the cycle of life and death in the Greek Underworld!
Exploring the HADES Series Iceberg - Lor...
not sure if this is what u r looking for but yea
plus i havent watched it so i have no idea what it has
also it has some hades 2 stuff in it
I just got a joke from the game
I was wondering how dionysus was considered immortal if he had a mortal parent (semele)
So I found out that in ORPHIC (important) mythology, Dionysus was born from Zeus and Persephone and called Zagreus
so it comes down to this
So there was ingame dialogue where they were pranking Orpheus and telling h that they (Zag and Dionysus) are the same person
Completely flew over my head when I first saw it I thought the devs were just adding it for giggles
there's like 500 different versions of 'canon' in greek mythology
and it was changing all the time
and separate canons got remixed together constantly
and then its further filtered through our modern limitation of only having access to the texts that survived, and having to deal with greek myths being reinterpreted by the rest of europe and their various cultural and religious influences on what aspects of it survived for 1000s of years
the game is just poking fun at that
I think in most canons dionysus was always a full god though, despite having mortal parents, zagreus is just a really unknown figure with little written about them, which leaves a lot of room for the developers to work with
putting in-universe pranks as explanations for why modern greek mythology is such a mess is pretty funny though
They should've kept checksums like the Old Testament SMH
Tbh I thought the same way until I accidentally researched into a rabbit hole on it 💀
that blockchain has so many forks it wouldn't matter
Thanks, I do too
harem god*
It’s still soo unbearably funny to me that Hypnos just. gives you his wallet
Makes me feel like a bully except I didn’t even do anything
I like to believe it isn't his and it was just handed to him as "lost and found" and he just gives it to you because he can't be bothered holding onto it anymore.
Although I have no evidence to back this up
It looks just like him
What a coincidence, eh?
Let's be real, Hypnos can be kind of a pushover
That's pretty in-character for him
This ain’t even him being a pushover this is him preemptively bullying Himself for you
Levels of pushover we never knew existed
pushover, or playing 4d chess with everyone?
give you wallet -> you get farther in your escape attempt
you get farther in your escape attempt -> you die in new and interesting ways
you die in new and interesting ways -> hypnos gets new items for his list
So
Nod your head if Hades is just acting like he didn't die at the top
Else, be quiet
Just say no or something
You'll see
Can I assume something?
I don't think that's even Hades
As hypnos says, we kept getting killed by [redacted]
Interesting theory
And it doesn't register as Hades
Keep playing to see if you're right
Zagreus when hypnos suggests anything be like:
Mhm.
Keep playing, you’ll figure it out.
I'm right, aren't I?
Do not respond 🤫
Don't tell me
Although, that's what I think is going to be the case
how do you get zag to learn music?
i got the orphues scene where he teaches zag an improv
but its npt giving me the price
Play it 210 times
There's multiple scenes of orpheus-zag about the lyre
is there any way to track how many times you have played it?
Not really
You can get how close you are by how well zag is playing at least
The better it sounds/longer it takes between animations you are closer to finishing
You could try do it all in one go then just do reset runs for the dialogues
Or just play like usual and play it 1-3 times between runs
The music kinda improves every like
maybe every 70?
It felt like thirds of the way but I can’t remember
Find it funny that Zagreus and Theseus have beef bc Theseus was an absent father big time in mythology and he also killed one of his sons due to a crazy series of events and because Aphrodite got pissed. Zagreus, ||who kills his father||, vs Theseus, who killed his son.
Is the reason why Hades is angry with Zag is because Persephone left?
In a sense
Zagreus' existence constantly reminds Hades of Persephone
Interesting and why is that?
Probably because the top of his head plus one eye strongly resemble hers
Would partly disagree with this statement, Hades is angry at Zagreus because it's his nature and he actively has to hold himself in check to act decently towards him (not a moral judgement on Hades just an observation that he's pretty moody and angry in general - much of which can be explained by his history with his family like his father eating him and his brothers functionally abandoning him to run the underworld). So without any support he defaults to anger because it's something that comes easy to him. I'd say he improves significantly when he is shown support from the members of the house and obviously when Persephone returns.
He shows similar anger towards almost everyone in the house (Nyx in particular) so maybe it's heightened to a degree due to Zagreus/Nyx's connection to Persephone but it's hard to tell for me.
Well like it's not mutually exclusive, he could be upset with Zagreus both because it's just generally how he is and because of the connection to Persephone
Because Zagreus is Persephone's son?
And so every time Hades sees Zagreus, it's a reminder of all the terrible things that happened with Persephone
Yeah it's not exclusively that, not a condradiction to anyone point just thought I'd mention this line from after the credits:
"I believed she was better off without the lot of us, Olympus included. Deceiving both of you... it tore against my being. But it needed to be done" - Hades apologizing to Zagreus in regards to him venting his inner turmoil onto him.
So I personally think it's a bit more complex than just anger like he is personally feeling angry at himself (tearing against his being) and venting that onto the people around him but yeah it's probably in relation to Persephone's leaving.
Especially since Zagreus' birth was the event that finally drove Persephone to leave
A fair point
*edited a bit, sorry bout that
Hey question
So you guys know how in the beggining of some runs, there's a blurb of dialogue from Hades to a presumably young Zagreus, where he tells him all sorts of things, such as lessons or whatever
Well there's this one blurb where Hades says something along the lines of "The mortals have one thing over us, they become men quickly, this is the Fury Megarae, she will hasten the process for you"
What did Hades mean by this? How exactly was Meg suppose to turn Zag into a man more quickly?
You got two options: Hades set them up romantically/sexually (which 🤮), or he made Meg responsible for Zag’s maturity (eg. she had to keep an eye on him/instruct him to be more responsible). You can tell which one I prefer.
Meg once refers to their.. ahem, black-out scenes as “a tutoring session” so I prefer to imagine she was his tutor turned fwb ¯_(ツ)_/¯
I find it unlikely that Hades would set his son up with Meg romantically (partly because there would be no point since there aren't any political benefits to that and also I find it unlikely that his morals would let him considering the pressure Persphone faced in being "given" to Hades). The mortals becoming "men" may reference their growing to adulthood quickly and finding/doing jobs which likely imply that Meg became Zag's supervisor or was in charge of giving/teaching him responsibilities. Their relationship would likely have been something they developed afterwards. (Also I find it unlikely that SGG would write a romantic couple/throuple in a predatory light without significant context/development as we've seen with Hades/Persephone).
Also, Hades isn't the type to speak in innuendo
Ah I see, I see, @mortal dune and @gentle meteor ,that makes sense, thanks for clearing that up
Honestly, I was just genuinely confused, and couldn't really come up with anything
Nah I think he’s just a tough love dad
he’s a stickler for his rules too and zag’s kinda breaking them all in every escape attempt
Bureaucrats! Amirite?
Hades really should hire extra help for administrative work
After all, he did say there were countless shades, hungry for work, and not like he has to pay them
He did what do you think the admin room is for
Clearly it wasn't enough people
I JUST MADE IT RN FR TO THE CREDITS LIKE 5 MINUTES AGO
🤝 🤝
Goated ending tbh
its tots in the blood if you know what i mean
Yo what happens if you attack Hades while he lets you pass
Do you start the regular boss fight?
I remember when that happened I just started wailing on him
I remember thinking my build was kinda sick and being disappointed that he wasn't gonna fight me
I was almost dying with horrible boons and praying the Gods (eh) that he would kill me instantly to restart but instead told me to go and I was quite confused.
A common reaction
Question about Hades' room, I gained access, but I don't see anything to grab, am I missing something?
|| From what I can remember, there where like two minor dialogue things upon entering, a vendor you get later on and a comment about capes. ||
Aside from what was already mentioned, there should eventually be a painting for you to look at
It's embarrassing how long it took me to realize why Theseus is Like That™️.
He's a pro wrestler.
It’s kayfabe yes. He’s the heel
I was kinda under the impression that Zag's the heel, given the whole "hellspawn" thing and the regularly tearing through elysium to get there. Plus the lone fan in the stands.
Oh so that’s why he beat asterius bare handed
What actually made it click for me was comparing it to how the zone bosses in 2 were kinda mirroring the ones in 1 and had the moment of comparing multi-point boss fights and "one-sided rivals in a performa--oh my god it's AEW (Athens Elite Wrestling)"
He’s our heel I’d say
That I can absolutely agree with
Does that mean he doesn't actually hate Zagreus?
I'm pretty sure he still does
Both in the abstract "i am hero and you are villain" sense, and the more personal sense given the amount of times Zagreus has humiliated him
||Wait so Zagreus isn’t able to live in the surface? How did he die up there? (Sorry I finished the game for the first time)||
He's bound to the underworld
If you have read/know the persephone myth, something similar
Oooh I understand.
Wow I feel bad for him
Just keep going now
Thanks for all the help. This is what they call heat right?
Yup
ahh okay ty
Okay, so I beat Hades for like the 4th or 5th time last night, and I got this hilarious dialogue where Zagreus tells Hades to just burn his cape and get the battle over with, then continues saying Hades must have an entire walk-in closet full of the same cape. 🤣 Just found it pretty funny, I think this is the channel to put this in? If not, I can delete.
Maybe not in the Vile Hellspawn, Return To The Depths Whence You Came sense, maybe more in the "oh gods, I'm on shift with this guy again" at work
Theseus does actually give Zagreus credit for landing good hits on him and there is the one dialogue where he goes “I might be fooled into respecting you”, so I think it’s not as vehement a hatred as one might believe
I'd still say that it's a lot of contempt and hatred in general; at the very least, neither of the two are remotely interested in being friends anytime soon
Naur they’re doing each other’s nails currently
Goals
My favorite thing about Alecto is that she actually just hates Zag and wants to nothing more than to bleed him in every part of his skin.
how many chambers are there in tartarus?
12, and then endshop, and then furies
So 14
Same here LOL, she's very blunt. 😄
What if she just has a biiiig crush on Zag and expresses it the only way she knows: picking on him like a little girl who's madly in puppy love
why is it atleasy a day between runs? what takes a day? styx perhaps or halls between areas?
@/mods
More fun if it’s just unfiltered hate
TBH that occurred to me too, mostly 'cause my brother has someone who hates on him all the time(from our martial arts class, no less), and I honestly think it's cause she likes him. 😄
daaaaaw 🥹
Tisiphone absolutely likes Zagreus
i mean his name is one of the only two words she says
i remember that one amazing fanart where the two other furies get upset at tisiphone for saying zagreus' name but not her sisters' names
I'd love to hear a conversation between Tis and Charon
That would be so profound that it would break reality
Not to the level of bouldy and charon, but almost
Oh my gosh, they'd figure out the meaning of life! Or death I guess
Charon, Tisiphone and Bouldy walk into the House's lounge
Charon orders a Hrrrrnnghhhhhhhhh
Tisiphone orders a Mmmuurdererrrrr
Bouldy orders a ...
when's Zag showing up in Fortnite I want to see him do all the gay little dances
Zagreus hitting the griddy
thx
bro wtf is aphrodite married
||To Hephaestus yeah||
||is hades II is sequel btw or a new standalone? I’m gonna buy it regardless because this was an amazing experience that I slept on for too long||
Sequel
iirc in the myth Zeus wanted to marry her to someone as a way of keeping her under control and basically just married her off to his son Hephaestus
is it so she doesnt romance with every one
it's more that all the goddesses were jealous and her powers tended to run rampant.
but a different version says that it was a bribe to make Hephaestus comply
I hope that if they were to acknowledge the marriage in H2 they make it a genuine thing
It'd be sweet
not that it works
she still cheats on him just as much as zeus cheats on hera
well in the bribing Hephaestus version it worked very well
is there any version where aphrodite and ares don't constantly shaboink
no
i didn't think so
i wouldnt want my wife naked bro wtf
what if she was as hot as aphrodite and actually loved you
well tbh there are hotter characters in game
answer the question
no
weak
Normal situations sure, but she’s the embodiment of sexual love
Kinda lame if she’s not
Guys, does Hades mind control his employees with the contract? Just heard a dialogue between Orpheus and Achilles where the former says "We are most fortunate to have employment even after death. Imagine, merely resting for eternity, when you could work!" and Achilles I think answers "Now that you mention it, I can't"
Pretty disturbing
maybe they are just grindset pilled like Dusa
I get you. The world has a weird understanding of rest, especially in the US.
In this case though, I guess the afterlife of Hades can be a bit idle and a bit dull
doesn't sound like mind control
Imagine if Achilles had a Fat Thor arc of his own
Specifically I meant when Achilles says he can't imagine life eternal life without work, it makes me think he realizes he literally can't imagine no working for Hades. But maybe that's just me! It wouldn't be too off the mark with the hole bureaucracy/work ethics vibe of the whole hades house
i think it's just you
especially when you consider basically everyone's personal plot lines
I think they’re just like most people and need some sort of job fulfillment even in death
Thanks (sry for late response)

Hello! Question about the gods we pick midrun.
Does every god boon we pick show up on the left sidebar when I press select? Are there any boons that wont appear there? Cause last night I could have sworn I got 4 gods (Demeter, Zeus, Ares and Dionysis on Fists). Dont even remember which boss I beat, but knew I was WAY too sleepy to continue. Got up this morning to continue the run, but when I checked this morning, I only see 3.
Me is confused.
did you sell the boons from one by chance?
Nada. I never sell boons
Sorry for the long wait. Life called.
I got back into the game, and turns out I DONT have the fourth god after all (confused it with the run before my current one). Thank goodness too, cause I need Athena 🙂
Thanks for answering!
Hi
yes
I'm a bit confused on one of the gods heart unlocks. The steam page says you have to talk with poseidon after catching a fish in the same run but fish is random and if you've already talked to poseidon you can't talk to him again
Is this one supposed to be really difficult to get or is there something I'm missing?
I just got this yesterday, when talking to him in the very first room
So I don’t think your source is correct
He did mention fish though
I think you just have to have caught a fish recently or a certain amount of them
Here’s what the wiki has to say
Favor
Poseidon's favor requires using the Rod of Fishing and successfully fishing up a minimum of 18 fish, and having at least 1 fish on your person. You can catch this fish in a previous run if you do not give the fish to the chef. [1]
Oh ok so as long as I don't sell the fish I caught I can get it okay ty!
The steam guide mentioned same run and I was like that seems really difficult
i think same run only counts if its your first poseidon encounter of the run, since gods will only speak with you in that instance. so if you spoke to him already, caught a fish, and then got him again that run it wouldn't work
been a hot minute though so i could be misremembering how that one works
ultimately though you just need to have a fish on hand. the minimum count isn't really important because chances are you'll probably be well past that by the time the right dialogue cycles around, i think there's just a minimum set to make sure the player doesn't get the bond dialogue too early
if it's not one of the main 5 moveset altering boons, you have to open the full menu
does hades always let you pass without fighting him on your 10th escape attempt or did i just get lucky
Always on 10th clear
ok gotcha
be grateful, it's the only freebie he'll ever give you
Opinions on zag, Meg and than scene
What do you mean by 'opinions'
Thoughts on it
It exists
It is something you can do
I did not do it myself for various reasons
But it exists
Not quite sure what you want to hear
if only you can reject the scene and they'll kick Zag out and take his room for themselves
third wheel to the extreme
Do you think Zag would be sad if they stole his board game?
yes
hello
during a first run clear
how does zagreus know who persephone is?
Shouldn’t
Because the flashback where he found out about her happens before the game even starts
The one we get ~10 runs into the game
Don’t think it necessarily explains how he knows her name, but Nyx may have told him this
fair
I didn’t know that was a flashback lol

Finding the letters that mention the queen is what prompts him to talk to Nyx and then she reaches out to Athena to help zag get out
a
what is the best bow build?
Depends on which bow, they all play quite differently
Absolutely fascinating implications for the story
keep this mechanics discussion out of my sacred story channel
Didn't Homer spill the beans about Persephone in a flashback
Yep! Entirely by chance…
is kore a deadname or just an embarrassing childhood nickname? in persephone's case, would there be a meaningful difference?
I think she's probably fonder of her dad than her mom, and her dad called her Persephone
It means “maiden”, is more like a title than a name
Kinda like "ma'am" then?
weird thing for a mom to call her daughter
Very cold of her
Apparently it means it in the sense of “girl” also
So, rather like hades always calling zag “boy”
It must've been so awkward for the House of Hades to see Hades and Zag getting along so poorly for yeaaaars
All the more so since Hades is a really good bureaucrat
I imagine everyone just buried themselves in their work and pretended not to notice when Zag and Hades had one of their squabbles
It's highly likely that Theseus and Pirithous didn't try to kidnap Persephone in Hades considering nobody knew that she was in the underworld. If gods didn't know, then Pirithous didn't know, and Theseus wasn't roped into it. This throws off my Theseus timeline greatly
Hades game Theseus is a total buffoon and his, ahem, close friendship with Asterius is the only reason why i can tolerate him
His friendship with Asterius is hilarious. Theseus is so extra, but bull is so, so patient
I suspect that though he's playing a heel, he's not really playing it that hard LOL
I really wish I could take the dating sim with megaera further
I also wish there was more to do in Persephone's garden in both the underworld and in the overworld after she returns
I also really wished there was a mount olympus DLC biome, but oh well, I'll have to wait for whatever is in hades 2
my favorite Thesues arc is when he's questioning his friendship with Asterius. lol
The romances minus maybe Dusa are kinda problematic as they are at the moment 😅. I'm okay with not developing them further
Garden sim though?! Heck yes!
I am Theseus's biggest fan to the point I know everything about him mythologically. Extensively, too. His relationship with Hippolytus is so heartbreaking. I wish they actually did something with that.
What if he's being a goober because he's very sad? A la Watiti's Thor in Thor: Ragnarok?
Do we get any hints of such cracks in this hypothetical facade?
His entire insecure breakdown with Asterius, the "All of which you own has been handed to you" (or something similar) line when he's battling, and I can't think of any others. I connect this all to the fact his father was willing to abandon him if he wasn't a strong hero. He went through the entirety of his six Labor deliberately because he needed to prove himself. This could explain his defensiveness towards his choice to battle over and over to prove himself, as shown in the line where he called Zagreus a maggot
Fun fact: Theseus has two siblings that are never mentioned, most likely because mythology doesn't mention them either! Clymene, his sister, and Medeus, his brother. I just wanted to mention them
Mythology media I mean. Media based on mythology doesn't mention them much or ever. Clymene is described in the illiad if I remember correctly. Her only description is being "ox-eyed", which means that she had very deep and beautiful eyes. Medeus had an entire journey after he ran away with Medea when their assassination attempt failed
I am somewhat more willing to tolerate Theseus because as much of an arrogant blowhard as he is, he did do something incredibly compassionate and honorable for the Bull (which is why the latter is so loyal to him)
Zagreus basically receives all of Theseus' cringe/unsavory side, but we don't see how Theseus is 'offscreen,' so to speak
Yeah. Is kinda nice: you don't often see that depth of friendship in media these days!
Yeah as tempting as it is to say "Theseus doesn't deserve Bull," Bull quite literally owes everything to a completely selfless and compassionate decision by Theseus
Bull is doggo 👀
theseus my fav hades character
so real
gotta be real I like Megeara more than Thanatos
man she is so fun especially diologuewise
its fun bringing a new weapon into the tartarus boss room and Meg and Zag have a convo that's basically
"Wtf are you holding"
"Its a thing that I will hit you really hard with"
"Ok- but make sure to hit me REAAAAAAAALLY hard"
I feel the same, she’s just more interesting to me
I like talking to Than dont get me wrong but I actually dont like Than spawning 💀
cuz sometimes
there are just a lot more foes because its a Than room
Oh yeah he always forces the 3 waves
like unless its one of those armor encounters where there are like 12 of them in total
But he pauses the timer so I can't hate him for that
I can hate his pathfinding tho
H2 spoilers ||if only zag could see mel often… 😔 ||
Oh lmao didn't notice
I swear in early access than used to just walk to the exit and that’s why he just teleports now
or float…. Hover
Every so often I see him struggling for his life trying to drop the heart
He just keeps going in circles
trying to laaaand
I think its also funny that because of Extreme Measures 1 Diologue
Meg is technically more obviously sweeter post-romance than Than
Diologue with Than post romance lmao its like
"You bringing Orpheus back with his wife that he wants nothing else but to be back with was NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS" and
"Mmmm... to die repeatedly or to hang out with my brother... idk"
and Meg at EM1 is like
"Guys Ik we're going to jump on him but also he's ok 👍 "
Tbf the first dialogue isn't locked behind romance pretty sure
and also, zag was really pushing his nose into eury/patty affairs
Zag better than me cuz he at the very least helped cuz if I was him I'd just gossip at the lounge with the shades
the sadness I feel seeing Alecto instead of Meg since their rooms are almost identical
my favorite diologue with Asterius in miniboss room, cuz it made me gasped, was when I walked in with Gilgamesh Gaunts and Asterius said I was gonna fight him bare handed
alecto is so haaaaard to fight
i will still lose death defiances to her 700 hours in
Alecto is such a menace
and Zagreus was like "I didnt think anyone could beat you bare-handed"
and Asterius just said "The King did, but I was starving and inexperienced"
its normal to die to alecto
like bruh-
trash god
Asterius my go- my bull(?)
😭
oh yknow-
I still havent gotten the Asterius-to-Hypnos letter diologue
yeah i enjoyed how meg gets a little sweeter after the romance... something that really bothered me about than is even after the romance i would talk to him at the house and he would be like "what do you want." and teleport away
like, word for word. nothing more or nothing less
it hurts my feelings :((((((((
Than's rarity annoys me when you go back and he just goes "Woops gotta go" and disappears
like bro I did not just get you on RNG for you to say 3-6 words to me
Alecto is hard but also as a Shield main
I laugh at her
I dont just laugh at her I shrug, eyeroll, point, and laugh at her
high heat is your doing 🫵
i remember my furies suck phase where i quit the game because i cant get past furies
OH GODS I'VE NEVER HAD A GAME PISS ME OFF SO BAD AT NOT BEATING A BOSS THAN HADES-
game is not real if you dont steamroll everyone with hera bow crush shot!!!!
after like the 6th loss
my 7th attempt
EVERY. SINGLE. GOD.
had this diologue that was like "Ah you seem to be struggling with the Fury, Megaera! Maybe you'll actually win this time if you take this boon!!"
AND IT DID THAT FOR LIKE 3 GODS
I don't think any boss has pissed me off for not beating them
I get pissed off at my build instead lmfao
I tried hestia 50 once and heroes was actual misery
Wet paper dmg
when the game first came out in EA even before the first patch, i threw myself at meg so many times that when i got to asphodel (then the last biome) i recorded a video of me just walking around because i thought i would never get to see it again
Nvm em4 exists and is a real
moment sometimes
back when shield had innate deflect.... 🧓
I did the same thing at Persephone's cottage
didnt update my game because i wanted to beat her just once and i was not confident in my ability to do so
I was taking screenshots all over and sending it to friends, captioning it with "I will ever get here again"
Bro thinks he's the mirror shield from zelda
Didn't deflect used to delete the dad skulls actually
Then they gave that to shield and removed it from deflect
😭
it still deletes dad skulls
deflect doesnt, other methods of blocking does
oh I thought you meant shield block
oh my god lmao the innate deflect was in the EA game for two whole days before getting patched away
any iframes delete skulls
thats so funny
lmfaoooo
like if you dash through a skull while its flying
Wait what
Have I actually never done that
that explains I think I've had that accidentally and was wondering why there werent as many skulls on the map
😭 😭 😭
no way dash deletes skulls What
ive been enlightened. not that i can pull it off, i like button mashing just a little
wow you all make me question myself
yeah i saw on speedcord they use it for c2 dad or somethin
The absolute JOY I felt
on a SPIRITUAL LEVEL
when I got a meg diologue where she says "I cant remember the last time I beat you"
Summary of earlier chat

Him...
Yep, being the embodiment of death (god's blood being gold in color, and also being a son of Nyx.) It makes sense
Who’s your guys’ fav character
meg

Roc indeed
Meg or Dusa!
They're both so 80s somehow
Achilles
I rlly like Ares
Ahhh I need to test a theory someone posted a while back! Do you like pocket knives?
tbf I am british
so yes
Forbidden fruit!
I feel like Nyx' and Ares' relationship should've gone further
I like how Zag was incredibly uncomfortable with Ares messaging mama Nyx
yeah lol
Still never getting over the fact the game about familial bonds never mentioned Theseus's son that died in his arms that he loved so dearly that he said "My child, I am destroyed. I can no longer take delight in life." while he was dying. Like that feels like a miss. Wish he had a bit more obvious depth beyond his homoerotic friendship with Asterius
Alas, there are heaps and heaps of cool mythology that just can't be put in-game for obvious reasons
I know, but I think that even a mention or a few would have been nice. His entire portrayal in Hades circles around the labyrinth myth, and I know why, but outside of his travel to Athens and the Labyrinth, I feel like Hippolytus is his second most important myth and it's just perfect for the themes of Hades
Generally speaking though, Hippolytus isn't as well-known as the Persephone story or the Trojan War or so on
So I can understand why it didn't make the cut
Well, the kidnapping attempt doesn't make sense for Hades. Pirithous wouldn't have reason to know that Persephone was with Hades considering the gods themselves didn't, so why would this random king know? And she wasn't a daughter of Zeus here.
I'll still long for a Hippolytus mention. Maybe make a mod for an arc where Asterius starts opening up about what Theseus told him and where Theseus acts super defensive when questioned
A few dialogues from Artemis and Aphrodite and maybe Poseidon would work too
Well no one's saying they didn't make their own changes to the myths, just that they chose a myth that's very well known
Yeah, no harm wanting and hoping for it
I will forever mourn the chance for Theseus depth through Hippolytus and I will try to make it myself. Rip potential mentions of "O Goddess let me die!"
This game is educational, I've never heard of half of these gods and never knew about any of them
Maybe Theseus got so sad he turned into Thor from Thor: Ragnarok
Theseus: YoU bLaGuArD- Gets melted by my beowulf build
I mean i dont see why theseus would really admit to something personal like that in the middle of a stadium to a guy he doesnt like. Its one of those things that wouldve been interesting to see yes, but it didnt really fit in here.
True, although I have been picturing vague mentions by Artemis and Asterius, possibly bitter words from Aphrodite.
I suppose. Im not familiar with the myth to understand the role those gods would play, but i guess they dont really care all that much about him outside of combat purposes
Artemis favored him dearly. He was her friend, they hunted together, and Hippolytus worshipped only her. She told him "And yet I love you, though you are destroyed." While he was dying. She killed Adonis as revenge for his death
Aphrodite despised him because he was a celibate teen and pulled off this huge plot to ruin his life and kill him
Theseus gives me big fate gilgamesh vibes.
guess that makes Asterius=Enkidu (which fits well with mythology since Enkidu was a wild/beastly man, although in fate they made him a twink)
The game does directly call out this parallel
When you unlock and use Gilgamesh aspect
Difference is that Gilgamesh eventually learned humility and self-awareness
Theseus is a bit far
Yeah they both have that snobbish "i'm better than you mongrel/blackguard" attitude. Although with Theseus idk if it's legit or if he's playing a heel.
Never thought about it that way I guess. Makes sense since the red shade is Zag's only fan.
I remember that idea I had where if you repeatedly win against Theseus, the crowd slowly but steadily starts filling up with more and more red shades
Until eventually the entire arena is red and Theseus has an ego breakdown
Some of them have to be there for Asterius. He's just too humble to admit he has fans and would say they were there for Theseus anyway.
Fair, but at the same time Zagreus driving Theseus up the wall by stealing his fanbase would be
Quite amusing, to say the least
Yes, I would love to see it
They are all chanting Zagreus' name at the end though aren't they? I could never quite tell
they are indeed
I love Theseus.

Can you stop pinging me thanks
Oof! A ping every time? That's a bit silly

If hades was WOKE!1!!1!1!!1!
The "furries"
"Pronoun" Hydra
"Theyseus" and the bull of "minorities"
"He/she"ades
F-f-fuuurrrdeeeerrr!
cursed
If Meg ever did a hecking UwU, would Zag just die then and there?
Oh my gosh imagine how terrifying Alecto would be if she suddenly did an UwO
e_e
thats EM1 if you only get 1 Fury
"Hewwo zaggy UwU"
"Megara, why are you speaking like that? Did you happen hit your head upon bouldy"
"Nyuh uh (>ω<) I was pewmitted my hades san to do this cuz ur on extweme mesuws silly"
"Doesn't extreme measures make it so I have to fight both you and your infernal sisters.. Not whatevers happening now"
"Jewwus Zagweus? :3"
"Well, I never said I was jealous just a tad confused at first"

I'm erismaxxing
if you defeat her you also get the Heart-chat cutscene at the house of Hades
and she's still in UwU mode
The bed scene....
yeappp
genuine question cuz Im actually curious
I've triggered Meg's bed scene like twice now since the initial romance-completed one
does Than just not have that? Cuz Ive never seen it come up
He does I'm pretty sure
Getting anything to appear for Than is a pain in the ass in general
maybe if his diologue wasnt 60% "woops gotta go" I wouldve gotten it
He always goes after the times he does show up
Him being necessary for hypnos favor is a pain
Also imagine ext measure meg going "Zagreus, put on the cat ears." if you lose
I've seen something similar but dad seeing zag testing gilgamesh
it will forever be funny to me how there's a handful of Meg diologue thats just
"grrrrr you keep winning"
"I'll get you this time"
like there was this one run Meg said "maybe I'll kill you this time for old time's sake" and I just laughed
Zagreus and Meg are so cute cuz I remember how Zag's quipps at meeting the other 2 furies was like
"oh crap, Im meeting the family already?"
what is this
Wouldn't you like to know
Gods I wish someone could dub this
Atrocious
Erismaxxing
The existence of yellow bananas in Hades makes me laugh because. they didn’t
Prove it
I'm just so sad we've lost our candy-flavored bananas
Balatro (super good game and cheap too, plug plug plug 🔌) shouts the banana lore out

BULLHORN!!!!!!!!!
DELTA STRIKE!
There are these lines in Hippolytus that gave me intense Thesterius divorce arc energy
" ARTEMIS:
And now, farewell. It is not right for me to look upon the dying, to defile my vision with a mortal’s final gasp.
And I can see that you are close to death.
(Exit Artemis.)
HIPPOLYTUS:
Immortal virgin, I bid you farewell.
The gods are truly blessed. How easily you take your leave of me, and our long friendship."
He's such a drama queen 😭😭😭 like father like son
Theseus's Minos design's cloak could have been an Ephebe cloak! In ancient greece, ephebe (young men in their teens up to age 20) had a special cloak. In Hippolytus, Theseus was confirmed to have been Hippolytus's age (17) meaning he would have had the cloak. His Minos design didn't have the exact same cloak, so it probably was a coincidence, but I like this idea!
All the cool kids had cloaks?! We must bring this back
They got the cloak during their rite of passage.
If Asterius was the same size he is in game when Theseus killed him, I understand why he would be incredibly humble towards Theseus. If I was that big and some 17 year old killed me I would also act like that towards him in the afterlife
It could also just be the homosexuality Theseus and Asterius share
It really doesn't read like homosexuality to me. Seems more like a deep friendship
Well, deep friendship + Theseus being very extra
Achilles and Patroclus are 10000% gay and I am all for it
But Theseus and Asterius? I just view as comrades in arms brought together by honor
I feel inclined to point out the fact that not everything needs to be romantic, and friendships are very important and valuable as well
As Tolkien stated so well
Hi guys! A spoiler question: "When can I consider the game finished?" Is there a credits scene or something? Like, I played for 115 hours and it seems not done with the story.|| I have all the weapons, companions maxed, all souvenirs bounded and maxed, 100% achievements on steam, 100% prophecies etc. I just didn't beat the 32 heat yet for the 3rd statue and some fishes.||
Did you forget the credits that rolled before/as Mom came home?
Epilogue too!
Maybe 👀
But there is a lot of story after that.
I bet most people don't even find out who hired Skelly 👀

oooohhh I only found out via a YT clip
never actually got it myself
there's also this one diologue I wanted to get but never got
its when Hades says smth about asking Zagreus why he purchased the Sun Dial
once you complete the epilogue that comes with the fated quest "The Queen's Plan", the main story is basically over
So, you're saying when|| "The Family is Reunited (together or something like this)"|| happens, right?
||The dinner invitation||
there's like a giant picture and like a circle of all the gods' symbols while the narrator speaks
yeye
This channel (and category) is for discussing the first Hades game. Please go to #h2-discussion to talk about Hades II.
Game completion depends on you really, some people ended on the credits, others on the epilogue, others want to 100% the game. It really depends on what you want to do
There's also the completion of ranks from the resource director in Hades' old room:
Where you'll need 325,000 darkness to complete.
question and i hope this is the right channel for it.
but lets say i am doing a heat32 run on the 10th clear (the one that hades lets you go without a fight will that still happen with heat on or does that cancel it out?)
kinda wanna cheese that part like that but cant find any info on it
Does count
Someone has done 40 on 10th win too
thank you ❤️
Hoooooly! I would take a lifetime to complete
Should be only a few hundred hours
Not terrible but still yeah, commitment
also for the last price then?
32 is the last prize so yeah
ah sweet
guess i just also cheese it out
im on my other save at like the 7th run aswell
(needed to restart cuz ps4 didnt had save transfer to the 5 xd)
but tbh its a lovely thing re enjoying the story etc 😄
Hello! Question regarding Hypnos favour and the epilogue.
Im at over 120+ runs, at Family Reunion quest. Havent talked to Mother yet, Ive already looked up all the dialogue Ill need to unlock it (need the Dusa/Hypnos one about faster lines from Royal Tombs), but at this point, Im tired of more runs. Heck, EVERYONE in the hades home is out of dialogue (even Than and Dusa) and STILL the scene wont play.
My question is, will the Family Reunion scene be different if I dont have Hypnos favour?
Nope
The only thing that alters the epilogue a tiny bit is having done the nyx/chaos quest before the epilogue
And is just a few extra lines
Thank goodness. Ive already done those.
Thank you!
Have fun eventually doing the hypnos favor
From a story stand point
Would any of the enemies ever learn to fear Zagreus after a certain point through word of mouth?
Since at one point the player just scours through the underworld without problem. So
I think they just die tbh
Good point lmao
And they still have to do their jobs
Unfortunately risk of death is not a reason to call in sick
They’ve got jobs to do, & Hades is scarier.
Good point, guess there's never a rest day for those in Tartarus
Since it's ever shifting rooms too, They probably don't know when they'll go against him
lol Zagreus is a horror movie villain to wretches confirmed
'Dude I was just patrolling like I was supposed to and he THREW HIS SHIELD AT ME AND LIGHTNING CAME OUT? And last week he had freaking grenade launcher! I want to go back to the furies!'
Truly a worse punishment than anything the furies could come up with
A snarky bi boy
mfw I'm an unarmored wretch and Zagreus is speedrunning
I'm going to assume since Lernie reconstitutes, every other shade does, and that they're more inclined to listen to Hades' orders given even if they die repeatedly they've already DIED-died and nothing is permanent I'd assume
Average lifespan of a wretch is 0.3 seconds
with hestia
literally .1 seconds of life
the wretches finally glad to hear they can just stay and a room and wait until further notice
The new punishment they werent expecting about to appear and disappear in a flash of blood and pinkiness:
"Did you hear the Furies were assigned to a different task"
"Phew, I cant imagine anything being worse than they were"
The Bisexual with Father-issues and online distant-family support:
How do you reunite euridice and Orpheus? Just keep giving them flasks to build their relationship hearts?
You also need to have unlocked the administration chamber
Did that. Just haven't seen euridice in awhile. Kk ty
Also nyx I think
To get the dialouge for End to Torment do i also have to talk to Bouldy and give him nectar ?
Don’t think so
Because i maxxed out his hearts and I have all the other requirements but everytime i meet him now nothing happens.
Yes i also already completed Orpheus's achivement.
Might need better luck, or might need to get through some other characters' stories too. I believe there's some overlap between characters involved in Sisyphus's story and other characters' stories
I already talked to Than and Meg about him so I guess maybe Nyx is left ?
I really like Zagreus's voice. It's the perfect amount of kind, boastful, and smooth
On my father’s authority
On old man H's blood power stuff
his attitude completely betrays his character design in the most delightful way
Zagreus is a Beanie Baby collector
Canon event
when I was 6 I collected those💀
Those where dark days
I still have my orange cat and frog beanie babies! I won one in class during elementary by solving a puzzle
I think the prize was the frog, and the cat was a prize from something else
It is literally only now connecting in my brain that the Titan's Blood you get from the Furies is from Uranus
Maybe not just from him
There's a bunch of Titans imprisoned in the underworld
true but also cuz Furies are born from Uranus blood so Im assuming most of it
if not the very first batch at the least
soo i have 50 escape attempts rn but i have meg, tan and dusa heart locked, is there anything i should do to get favors?
iirc Meg's and Than's are just conversations, but Dusa's does have a prerequisite
I forgot what tho I have to search it up
the text is spoiler blocked anyways so it should be safe for you to just check it out
Dusa's heart unlock basically has a prophecy triggered by buying stuff at the Contractor, and buying even more stuff
thanks!
Just learned that the Zagreus-Dionysus myth comes from Orphic myth specifically, so cool
What zag dio myth. Like the one where they the same person
Yeah !
There's a Greek god who's Roman name is Lucifer. Eosphorus, originally a separate god from Hesperus before they became one, is the god of the planet Venus and known as the most beautiful star in the sky. One name for him is Aster Aphrodition, or Star of the goddess Aphrodite. He's also called Phaesphoros, or Lucifer in latin. This is just interesting considering the aspect of Lucifer. I've just been thinking about him a lot
Cicero, De Natura Deorum 2. 20 (trans. Rackham) (Roman rhetorician C1st B.C.) :
"The star of Venus, called in Greek Phosphoros (the Light-Bringer) and in Latin Lucifer when it precedes the sun, but when it follows it Hesperos."
There's also "Lucifer (the Dawn Star) [Eosphoros] sails upon roseate wings, whom Venus [Aphrodite] rejoices to lead forth in a glorious sky."
Not related to Hades but there are some interpretations of the book of Isaiah where Isaiah isn't actually describing the backstory of a fallen Angel named Lucifer.
But rather using the star Lucifer as a derogatory metaphor towards the King of Isaiah's time
Sorta like a "like the morning start you felk hard against the earth" metaphor cuz of how it sinks to the horizon when the earth turns.
The Roman origin of the name Lucifer is genuinely so cool
I'm rather certain that the Lucifer they are referring to in-game is the Christian Lucifer that everyone knows about, but interesting food for thought nevertheless!
The Christian Lucifer nonetheless comes from the Roman Lucifer
Which is pretty cool cuz it does make Lucifer Aspect feel a lot closer to the GreckoRoman myths used
If you mean the name in the Greek translations, I might find that plausible
Isaiah super duper precedes Greco-Roman stuff if I recall correctly. A good few hundred years at least
Goodness I need to brush up on ye olde Israel history
Pretty sure yeah but I think the use of Lucifer in that verse is only cuz of the Greek translations circulating after
I'm sure, but in regards to which tale is being used
Fair
I find it so interesting tho that Zeus is the one to deliver the Lucifer call phrase
I mean Ig since he's the sky-father
Question
Isn't the underworld of hades called.....hades?
Yet I've seen multiple characters mention "hell" as if it's still keeping it's original meaning of "fiery Inferno filled with death and suffering" from the bible, not at least the "organized DMV" of in game hades
Well the funny thing is that the underworld and Hades is physically under
Or below
But it basically has all the Afterlives squeezed into it
Like Tartarus, Asphodel, and Elysium are basically Hell, Purgatory, and Heaven layered on top of each other instead of being one going down and one going to the sky or smth
Technically speaking the origins of the word "hell" seem to relate to the underworld rather than just the abrahamic afterlife for bad people. (side note: funnily enough in proto-germanic roots it seems to reference it as the "unseen place" which also seems to be one of the ways of interpreting the name "Hades".)
As for what Hades is, within Greek mythology it was the place that all mortals would eventually go when they perish. Tartarus for various "bad" people, asphodel for most normal people and Elysium for the "heroes" or "greats".
Keep in mind though that the writers live in the 21st century and use 21st century ideas/lingo to express their stories even though they are basing this off of a mythology written thousands of years ago over several iterations. So it's up to interpretation what they mean by using words with modern interpretations that differ from there original meaning. (Also I might be wrong about a lot of what I say, this is all based of quick googling)
Hebrew says "Sheol"
Additionally since a lot of the Bible was circulated in Greek you could say that He'll is Hades instead of Hades being hell.
Cuz every time Gahenna was being refered to they were like
"Ah. Hades" writes that down instead
Ctrl+H "Gehenna" "Hades"
It will forever be funny to me that Sheol existed before the heaven/hell system so much so that it just doesn't fit with it and it got translated or "interpretted" out of the English versions
Oh yeah. If I remember correctly, I think the ye olde Israelites just assumed they'd be dead until such a time as there was a single, final resurrection for everybody
Yeahh it's basically a form of posthumous ultimate equality thing
Ah, death, the great equalizer.
After the Olympus gather at the house is there any more story progress?
Or thats it
That’s it for major storyline stuff
But every relationship has more story as you fill up their hearts
Such as Demeter, who you can’t even finish all her hearts until after the gathering
hey y'all, i'm having issues unlocking ares' last heart. i'm still waiting for him to give me the minor prophecy and i've been using his keepsake at the start of each run, but he still hasn't said anything in regards to it 😔
is it just up to RNG?
Yes
damn, oh well
dont borrow coin
Always borrow coin
ALWAYS borrow obols
coins for Charon
coins FROM Charon
what's the worst that could happen!
Does the “Friends Forever” achievement mean I need to three star everything?
That’s one of them, not sure it’s that one
How do I go about progressing the gods relationships to do the epilogue? Am I supposed to give the nectar to everyone even when it doesn’t say to “to further relationship” and then eventually ambrosia? For example not related to gods, Nyx has it saying to develop relationship but won’t let me give her either
If you check your codex you’ll notice a lock on the hearts of the npcs you’ve pushed to the softcsp
to get past that, each npc has their own specific favour
@fathom knot so what would I have to do in nyx case? And are they each drastically different
It’s very character specific
I think it’s reunion with chaos?
Each character’s is on the wiki
.
the texts are spoiler-covered on the link anyways so it should be good
its what I used for the epiogue too
Thinking hard about Plutus, god of wealth, who is either the son of Tyche, son of Iasion and Demeter, or son of Hades and Persephone
oh.
Should I unlock the epilogue for the game before getting Hades 2? I want to, but I havent been able to make any progress on the quest for a couple of days, the prophecy tells me to "get closer with the Olympians to develop a plan" but I've had all of their hearts maxed out (minus giving them ambrosia, so most of them are at 6 hearts) and the quest just wont progress. Do I need to do some extra stuff to unlock giving them ambrosia to proceed, or is it something else thatll take 20+ hours to complete? If I have to go really THAT out of the way to reach the Epilouge I'd rather just get Hades 2 and see what Ive missed with context clues
You need to complete each god's prophecy to unlock their Ambrosia-hearts.
Do I need to do that for the epilouge is what im asking
yes
Hold on let me just double-check to confirm
A spoiler warning is displayed at the beginning of each section.
These warnings describe the types of spoilers that follow so you are able to make a decision about whether to continue reading.
SPOILERS: This introductory section describes the epilogue in very broad (spoiler-free) terms but does mention characters involved by name and provides ...
Six of the following are required:
Zeus at 7 hearts Poseidon at 7 hearts Athena at 7 hearts Aphrodite at 7 hearts Artemis at 7 hearts Ares at 7 hearts Dionysus at 7 hearts Hermes at 8 hearts Demeter at 6 hearts You will need much more Nectar than you normally get in the game to fill the gods. Liberal use of the Wretched Broker is essential.
alright thanks
do you know if this:
"Ares' favor requires completing the War-God's Bloodlust prophecy and slaying at minimum 10,000 enemies total. "
means the prophecy where you collect all of ares' boons? because theres no quest completed or uncompleted for me called "War Gods Bloodlust"
according to the reflecting pool ive killed 20084 things so
In order to get the god prophesies, you have to have the god at locked-heart level already, and then there's a good chance they will give you the prophecy next time you see them in a run, at which point you can complete it.
Pat and Achilles having matching spears is so cute man.
I never noticed that!? owo
When you first get to Hades with Lucifer Rail, he says something along the lines of "You make assumptions about people you don't know". Does this mean Hades has some knowledge of who Lucifer is and what he's done?
Pretty sure he would, yeah.
I wonder what the Biblical God's role would be in the world with Chaos being the creator of everything though.
Large parts of catholic mysticism work just as well in a polytheistic setting.
Especially since most of the supernatural entities in catholic mysticism, aside from Yahwe, Jesus, and the holy spirit, are either not actually in the bible, or where they are, modern theological scholars are often unsure whether the passage refers to an entity at all.
At first I thought their designs matching was cute, but then I realized 😭
While i recommend doing it just cause is awesome, Hades 2 has very little ties to it, just references here and there. You can enjoy hades 2 just fine without even playing the first
Do you have any clue why the dialouge for any of their favors refuses to appear? Ive been playing pretty much exclusively to see the epilouge but it just wont give it to me, Ares wont give me his quest, Artemis isnt giving me her "callisto" dialouge, Demeter isnt saying anything about Persephone etc etc
Im in a run right now and when i first talked to Artemis she gave me Coronachts secret line thing, and the rest is just filler dialouge, and its like that every time, if they have anything important to say its not related to the epilouge
There have been times where I collect a boon and it just wont give me any dialogue at all which leads me to believe the game doesnt think it has any dialouge for me
Even for gods with dialouge related boons, like with Zeus it says to tell him the opinions the other gods have of him, but when i collect it itll just say nothing
Same happens w Demeter
they only talk once per run, some dialogue has priority over others, in this case she gave you a waking phrase 🤷♂️
they talk to you the first time you collect a boon from each god per run, only exception is duos afaik
I just got a boon from Athena and it didnt give me any dialouge at all and i didnt have an Athena boon
do shops count or no i dont think ive ever seen it from shops now im thinking about it
if the game has no dialogue for you, they still give you a one liner
so either youre wrong, or your game is bugged
Yeah no I bought the boon and it only popped up with the menu and nothing else
hold on fighting meg
i dont think shop counts
gotta be a regular boon
shop only has the "charon sold you this" dialogue
oh okok that makes sense
anyways big thanks for all the help i really appreciate it
as long as you meet the requirements, it boils down to "keep playing", you dont get to pick the dialogue
i need only aspect of beowulf to unlock all aspects
but chaos doesnt give any dialogue about it
is there any way to trigger this dialogue?
Make sure you've invested at least 5 blood into the shield, and that you're wielding the shield during the run. Then, just get lucky I guess '^^
idk if this nescessarily relates to the story but
how do i get the second megaera romance scene to trigger
and does it even exist
or do i need to get thanatos to max relationship as well
Meg and Than's romances sorta unlock naturally
you just gotta keep having conversations with them
that being said they're both RNG in that retrospect cuz unless you fight Meg or encounter Than they might not be in the house
alright thanks
Btw what 2nd scene you mean
can anyone reccomend a hades YouTuber other than Haelian. He's great but I want to watch another channel that doesn't just do hades II stuff
Do you want commentary as well or just gameplay

Basically any speed runner or heat runner will have nice gameplay, so check out speedrun.com if you want vods sorted by time
This leaderboard has runs sorted by heat
just saying that the guardians of tartarus were the hekatonkeries not the fates (or maybe its argued whether or not the fates actually guarded tartarus idk)
if this is all happening after the titanomachy that is
cuz before that it was kampe
a female dracon aka a drakaina
Jazz does toooooo
yeah list is not exclusive, that's just some mostly heat players i could come up with
everyone on the speed server has vods worth watching ngl

hekatonkeries statues are outside the House of Hades so its pretty much the case in Hadesverse for sure
Ah
What if Chaos's boon is the Cosmic egg because of the primordal world egg mentioned in the Orphic myths
According to the Orphic myths the world began bc Chronos and Ananke, Chaos's parents, broke the egg and it divided the universe into the heavens, earth, and seas
Orpheus should talk more about Orphic myths. "And so Water and Mud were there at the beginning and this became Chronos, and Chronos is called Heracles because he's so strong and he has the head of a lion, the head of a bull, and the head of a god, and then he formed the primordal world egg–" "Orpheus, mate, who told you this?"
chronos did not father chaos dog what
chronos as in
the titan chronos
Chronos primordal god is different from Cronus father of the Olympians. I'm talking about primordal god Chronos.
use google
I'm saying that in Orphic myths, Chronos the primordal god fathered Chaos, not Cronus king of Titans. Orphica, Rhapsodies Fragment 66 :
"This Khronos (Chronos, Unaging Time), of immortal resource, begot Aither (Aether, Light) [upper air] and great Khaos (Chaos, the Chasm) [lower air], vast this way and that, no limit below it, no base, no place to settle. Then great Khronos fashioned from (or in) divine Aither (Aether) a bright white egg [from which Phanes was born]."
Stickybot is edging rn
Anyways, I do really hope the cosmic egg is from the primordal world egg
I would say that stands to reason
Very possible
If they put that much effort into things I would be very happy. I get hyperfixtated on specific parts of Greek mythology every so often (some examples are Merope and Glaucus and Bellerophon, Atlas and his daughters, the Astra Planeta, Hippolytus and Demophon and Acamas, Plutus) and right now I'm real into Chronos
I think they definitely put some real thought into the actual mythology itself but then also they take liberties as necessary for the story they are putting together
Which works
I don’t know a ton about Greek mythology
But I always have found it cool as hell
Greek mythology has been my special interest for years. I think about it near all the time (specifically Hippolytus and Theseus.)
One thing they took liberties on I find crazy is that Sisyphus is a good guy. He was just completely evil in the myths. How much do you know about Sisyphus?
Maybe Sisyphus mellowed out over a loooot of time!
Going from incredibly manipulative and emotionally abusive and notoriously violent and bloodthirsty man to very friendly chill dude is quite the character development. He really needs to apologize to Merope tho. She's so ashamed of herself for marrying him that she refuses to show anyone her face. And his niece, too. He started a relationship with her and when she learned that he was leading her on for the sake of a prophecy that his kids would kill his brother (her dad) she killed them. Killing your babies cannot be easy. On second thought, maybe she won't want to see him
I know just the basic pop culture representations of him and the Hades one
Im interested to know what makes him evil that’s hilarious to me cuz I know him as such a sweet guy
There’s a bird eating someone’s liver right?
Bigger character developments have happened IRL!
Oh wow that’s crazy
So
Sisyphus emotionally manipulated and abused his wife, Merope (she's a Pleiade, one of Atlas's star daughters) and that's why she helped with his whole cheating death plan. He said "if you actually loved me you'd do it"
He loved to kill his guests in violent ways to show off his power and strike fear so he could rule with an iron fist.
I already mentioned the seducing his niece to kill his brother thing. His niece is named Tyro, and she's also the grandmother of Jason of the Argonauts! Iason was not the son of Sisyphus, though
He also gave up one of Zeus's big secrets to a river god so that river god would give him a river. That was the nail in the coffin for Zeus
Bouldy jumpscare

Yea jeez
Come on Sisyphus
I forgot to mention how he tried to force his son Glaucus into marrying this shapeshifter girl but she ran away to be with Poseidon. That was the beginning of Glaucus's Poseidon problems (Glaucus is the father of Bellerophon)
Shapeshifters are cool at least
But still not cool
Of a move for home boy
This does explain why Meg disliked Sisyphus so much
Dw he gets humbled by Autolycus. Autolycus successfully stole Sisyphus's cattle. He's a renouned thief and son of Hermes and has the power to turn things he steals invisible and
Wait I was freshening up my knowledge on him and in one source Autolycus's wife is Mestra. Mestra is the chick Sisyphus was trying to make marry his son. HE DIDNT JUST STEAL HIS CATTLE, HE STOLE HIS SON'S WIFE 😭😭😭
Wait the Mestra thing is from Ovid and I have personal beef against Ovid. Fun is over
She got pre character development Sisyphus and I doubt Zagreus has pre character development Sisyphus lore beyond the cheating death thing.
Zagreus literally 👶
Yet another example of Zagreus being way too trusting and eager to help without considering that some people are just terrible and don't deserve that help
After Zagreus freed Sisyphus from his punishment, I'm so glad that Merope is up in the sky amongst the stars and not somewhere where Sisyphus could bother her, even though Hades likely wouldn't even include his violent demeanor
I still haven't played Hades 2 but I deeply hope that it was Zagreus who freed Chronos because "I have to help!" and caused all of the mess
Zag really needs to learn a lesson
been re-playing Hades on a new save and got to the end without getting Orpheus to see Eurydice again yet, and was not expecting (at least not entirely) to still hear both of them singing It's In The Blood together
Is the aspect of Lucifer a reference to the devil?
I feel like it's the only logical connection, but I want my thoughts confirmed, because it'd be interesting, if they decided to mix religions
all of the hidden aspects refer to characters from different mythologies
All the hidden aspects are from different cultures
in other words, yes
Wonder what Hades game would explain Arion with
It's very likely that was the intention. Lucifer within modern media generally refers to Satan (although within original judeo-christian mythology Lucifer refered to the "morning star" which fell, which was referencing another character).
it is also called __hell__fire
"I see your prideful fall down from the heavens to the flames"
Do you have a source for the latter, parenthesized bit? Interested to see where that interpretation comes from
"Belief that it was the proper name of Satan began with its use in Bible to translate Greek Phosphoros, which translates Hebrew Helel ben Shahar in Isaiah xiv.12 — "How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning!" [KJV] Because of the mention of a fall from Heaven, the verse was interpreted spiritually by Christians as a reference to Satan, even though it is literally a reference to the King of Babylon (see Isaiah xiv.4). Sometimes rendered daystar in later translations."

Could probably find some actual sources in a bit, been a while since I cracked open the mythology textbooks so I'm probably not the best source for this.
Thanks. Interesting bit of hermeneutics there!
Is it possible in any way to get nyx to reconcilie with chaos? I never considered it bc theres no achievement or prophecy about it, but still nice to hear experts input on it. I really liked the 2-3 pieces of dialogue about their relationship, I had forgotten nyx is the daughter of chaos in the actual greek mythology
huh I could sworn there was an achievement for it
but yeah
there's a prophecy/quest for them
the prophecy shows up once nyx asks you to help them reunite
and yeah there was an achievement "fulfill the night and darkness prophecy"
basically just keep gifting them nectar and/or keep talking yeah
