That's a question for #hades-localization
Hey folks. I read through all the #h1-tech-fixes and I'm not sure I understood them. I'm playing on a Mac, (a macbook air from ~2014, running Catalina) with very little disk space left, and I'm having lag/freezing issues.
Sometimes if i immediately pause the game it'll "catch up" and i can continue, sometimes it just stays frozen and unresponsive. Sometimes if I force-quit Hades and relaunch I can continue from the same chamber, but often I get booted back all the way to the weapons chamber and have to start the run over.
I'm not sure how to upgrade graphics drivers for Mac, or even if it's possible.
So far I have (1) disabled f.lux, (2) turned off Steam overlay, (3) turned off fullscreen, (4) turned down resolution settings, (5) turned off vsync. It's ....maybe a little better? I'm not sure. Still happening though. I wouldn't mind so much if I didn't have to start the whole run over.
2 things--one, you can recover your run by following steps near the end of #h1-tech-fixes
for the other, have you tried any of the launch options?

On Steam:
· Right-click on Hades in your Steam Library
· Select 'Properties...'
· Press the button that says 'Set Launch Options...'

It crashes in the D3D core initialization and Vulkan fails to see any graphics devices so something's funky

@regal monolith generally, Hades has been reported to run fairly well on Proton: https://www.protondb.com/app/1145360. Which version of Proton are you using? 5.0-10 and 5.13 were known to work with DirectX, but Proton-GE was needed in order to run the Vulkan build (needs manual installation https://github.com/GloriousEggroll/proton-ge-custom)
My save is gone. I try to create a new save in hell mode and i'm %100 sure i created it in a new slot, but my old save is gone. Could i bring it back ,any help?
Hello there. Not sure if this is the right place, but I found a thing that might not be intentional:
I was not fast enough when picking up my bouldy-summon goodies and they got stuck behind the walls of the shrinking boss chamber.
Could be considered completely intentional but oh well, here it is anyway.
Thats what happens in that particular fury fight, you can sometimes see gold pots you missed as well

I think I tried the experimental one that's the default. Either way I need to switch to an OS that actually works with PPAs, though, so I'm not gonna bother checking until I've got that done

hello, I have an issue with save syncing with the cloud. it has happened twice already.
basically, when I hit sync and quit, the game fails to sync the save, tells me it failed and then quits, losing any progress I had from the last synced save. Is this supposed to happen? If so, isn't there any way to stop the quitting and try to save again? Because when it happened the second time today, I lost quite a lot of progress in the story 😔 (came via twitter, as per suggestion from Supergiant's account)
What platform are you on?

Steam or Epic? And do you have any automatic cloud storage?
For recovering your progress, go into Documents/Saved Games/Hades and first save a copy of the entire folder (this step is important in case we need to revert any changes).
Then, try the steps towards the end of #h1-tech-fixes about recovering progress (if I was on my computer I'd just paste them, sorry)

hello! I was just about to test the steps from #h1-tech-fixes and see if it worked. I failed to figure out for sure if I have automatic cloud storage. I think I confused seeing that option with another game I was playing earlier today 😅
(just for clarity: I had meant something like OneDrive that automatically backs up your documents)

Well, it's always good to eliminate OneDrive as a possibility. Do you have any suspicion about what might be preventing you from uploading your saves? (e.g. shaky internet connection, firewall, etc?)
could be the internet 🤔 we do live in an area the service has more patchy moments than good moments
but now that you mention it, I did notice my antivirus asking to give epic permission to access the internet when I left the game 🤔
Well, even in the case where you have no internet at all, you still aren't supposed to lose progress.

Do you see a '?' icon on the save slot that didn't upload? That could mean one of two things

Said another way, if you load save 1, progress through a room, then Sync & Quit, it fails, then you go back to the main menu and load save 1, do you consistently load back into the previous room (the one you otherwise had completed?)
no, it almost always loads to where I had just saved (save for these two occasions, where it simply went back to an old cloud save)
and to confirm, the save slot does have a '?' on the little cloud

Yes, in that case it is. Usually it signifies that the save needs to be uploaded, -or- there is a conflict

If you see a failure again, I'd like to see a zip file of your save games folder. This would give me logs + everything else I need
I'd also make sure to allow Epic through windows firewall if that pops up again

Oh, another question. For the times where you lost progress, did you lose the entire play session, or did you load back somewhere else unexpectedly (or was it the old cloud save, losing all the progress)?
I lost the entire play session since loading, yes. in today's case it went back to the last cloud save I made before stopping to have lunch. the previous time it happened, I had done the saves very close to each other, so I can't say for sure, but I believe it was the same situation (losing the most recent play session)
today I noticed it better because I had done a big chunk of progress (and thus got a little more distressed over the loss 😅 )
OK, thanks. I'm looking to see what might've happened here. The good news is, your .bak files are properly getting saved, so if it reverts your progress again you should be able to recover them

Hey everyone, I recently bought Hades and I'm having problems despite trying the workarounds in the #tech-fixes. Basically make game just freezes completly from time to time and eventually crashes to desktop. It also freezes and becomes unresponsive on boot for around 30s-1minute before the first loading starts, but it seems to eventually load. During game it freezes with a similar behavior when I first boot it, but this time it goes on for longer and eventually crashes. I have an i5 4670k, 1080 Ti, 8GB RAM, Drivers Updated.
The behavior is the same with the Vulkan binaries, 32 or 64bit

That's what I was thinking: you can have a lot of RAM and still run out if other things are using it
Windows isn't exactly known for good multitasking when it comes to RAM, either.

I'd try these steps, from #h1-tech-fixes :
If Your Game Crashes and You Lose Progress
If something happens and you start the game and find your save data missing, chances are it can still be recovered. Please follow these steps:
· On Windows, navigate to \Documents\Saved Games\Hades
· On macOS, use Finder’s Go > Go To Folder menu and navigate to ~/Library/Application Support/Supergiant Games/Hades
· (Assuming you're using Save Slot 1):
- Move
Profile1.savinto a backup folder - Sort by 'Date modified' to locate your most recent save matching one of these names:
Profile1_Temp.sav,Profile1_Temp.sav.bak, orProfile1.sav.bak# - Rename that file to
Profile1.sav - Then open the Play menu in-game and look for the save
- If that doesn't work, repeat from step 2 with the next most recent save file

i'm getting this weird screen glitch where jumping attacks (sword 2 and special) cause the entire screen to displace except for the HUD and foreground elements
i've already rebooted the pc and updated all related drivers and validated the install on steam and i'm still getting this
it makes fights... difficult
well, it seems to go away on 32bit, at least-- i'm trying some of the other options on the tech-fixes channel, but i'd rather be playing on 64

i did get a weird, very small update a couple times today, including after verifying the first time

So Hades is running with nearly no issues
There's a very minor animation glitch where when you pet Cerberus it doesn't quite always line up perfectly
And much more importantly when I hit F10 the whole game... Teal-screens, then hangs forever, including not responding to shutdown signals

Full infodump btw: Running Kubuntu, Proton 5.13, DirectX. Everything runs fine; no crashes except on F10. It's a little choppy when there are a lot of enemies, but I haven't tried anything in #h1-tech-fixes yet, seeing as it's 0200 lol. I'll try em tomorrow and report back. I don't suppose there's a debug room where I can spawn a bajillion enemies to benchmark?

I haven't been playing with Steam since september. Only offline from direct folder "x86" (my system is x64).
Yesterday I've played some time from Steam. Today I discovered that I lost my progress.
I tried launch and save from folder, but it didn't work: game crushed while closing. I tried rename other saved games, but it didn't work too. Game still is not saved.
How can I fix it?

Most likely, there's something corrupted in your temp save, so switching to a new slot is the easiest way to fix that

How much progress is that behind what it should be?
It should be Temple Styx nearby Charon's shop, but instead of it I start at maze of satyrs
If you only lost a bit of progress in that one run, you may not be able to recover those rooms
It's strange. I've just defeated Hades and returned back to Home. But save still at Temple Styx

Hey folks, I am unsure if this question goes here but I have been playing Hades offline for a while now and I did not receive the achievement which requires you to use a God's aid against their own trial. Will I get the achievement once I go online on Steam?
If not, I am not planning to go forward because I am close to epilogue as well and I don't want the game to get bugged and not give me such achievements.
You will get narrative achievements (such as completing the epilogue) when you switch from offline to online. However, achievements such as the gods aid one will not be tracked while offline

Hi guys. my saves overritten by new game. can i get some help for this problem?
for some reason the game doesn't seem to be saving properly for me, the last two times I've launched the game it seems to have forgotten the last few things I did in the temple after beating the game and instead sent me back into the escape attempt. The first time I was sent to the hades arena after beating him and the other time, which was my 10th time clearing the game, I loaded into a room in the temple of styx just before reaching the hades arena

Are you certain you meet the minimum requirements to run the game? If not, I'd suggest you verify the game files to see if something wasnt downloaded
Hey guys, anyone know any settings that allow me to stream Hades on Discord smoothly? It's the only game I stream that has massive frame drop issues just specifically on Discord. And ideas on settings or boot options that can help fix it?
I turned Hardware Acceleration off in my Discord settings and that didn't help the issue upon testing

As in, you started a new save in a new save slot, and it overwrote your main save?
Did you make sure to see "last saved less than a minute ago" or similar when you hit quit after playing?
Are you new to Hades or is this something that popped up?
Not that I know of for that specifically, though it may be a RAM issue. You could try the steps in #h1-tech-fixes to increase performance

yea the second time I made sure that was visible by going back and forth between zagreus' room and the room where you start your runs
although the issue didn't appear when I last started the game, I'm really not sure what could have caused it
I have fps uncapped, all I did was turn off vsync as far as I remember, I'm running the game on windows through steam and launching with the default option
Alright.. Next time it does that, could you force-close the game using alt-f4 (or similar methods), then go into Documents/Saved Games/Hades. There, move both files with Profile1_temp.sav into another folder, and try starting up again.
My suspicion is that the game is trying to load a temp save for some reason, so we can try to force it to use your main save

received an update to my game in epic store and now im unable to open my savegame wether in cloud or on my local pc.
I also tried the suggested fix with taking a backup in the savegamepath, but nothing seems to work

yes i deleted that file then renamed the .sav.bak file to .sav

i quit the game and moved on doing something else, after the patch this evening the situation is how it is now
Alright. Could you save a backup of your entire folder first, and then try with each of the .bak files? What I'd suggest is renaming them into Profile4.sav, that way if it's one of the auxillary files, it won't be interfering
If that doesn't work, you can send me a zip of that backup and I can give it a try

ok i tried an even older one and now it managed to work, i could have sworn i have tried this one before, because i thought i should take an older one.
now it works if i name it profile 1 also as when i name it profile 4 and my cloud has synced to that file successfully

Not a huge issue since I've got a workaround but sometimes my corsair drivers stop working or something and the game won't launch. I have to unplug and replug in my keyboard

GLFW is a windowing library, and I'm pretty sure Hades uses it.

Hey now that you talking about controller there is something I would like to ask. I have a ps4 controller and ofc to use it I plug it on my pc and I open hades from steam. So sometimes my controller disconnects for some seconds and I lose control of him. Do you what could cause this?

If it's happening with other games, it could be an issue with the controller itself, unfortunately. Maybe check if its drivers are fully up to date?
I think Xbox One, Xbox Series and PS5 controllers generally have issues with Big Sur unfortunately

I sometimes thought that it could be just the wire moves a little bit and it gets out of the USB or the contoller but even if I try to put them back a lot of times it still does it

When I remove the wire the game stops automatically and then after I plug it again after 10 to 15 seconds it connects
Alright. That definitely sounds like an issue with the connection. Is this a wire built into the controller, or one you plug between the controller and the computer?
Just saw cross saves are now available. If I have both a cloud save on my Steam account, and a local save on my Hades install on Switch, will I be prompted which one I want to use? My Switch progress is about 10x my PC progress, so wouldn't want to overwrite my Switch progress.
It's the ps4's wire I use it to connect the controller to my pc
You should be prompted, yes, though please carefully read any notifications that pop up.
if I may interject, that happens on some configurations, namely I've had that issue since the first days of Early Access, it's something deep inside Windows that we have no effect on. It shouldn't affect gameplay normally, except in cases like yours. Do you have an external USB sound card? It is usually caused by some USB device connected to the computer
does cross save work between epic and steam? i bought it on epic when it launched but i’d rather have it on steam
@tulip niche If you'd like to be completely sure, you can move your Steam save from slot 1 to a different slot, though it's a slightly involved process

this may still cause a conflict with the Steam Cloud when you start up though, so again make sure to read carefully
I don't think so I'm not the one building my pc so I can't be 100% sure
I'm happy enough to just nuke my Steam progress and have it transfer from Switch. Will delete the slot and make sure Steam syncs to cloud before doing the transfer from Switch.
to fully delete your steam saves, have the game open when you delete the files, then close it, and Steam should sync properly
Another thing I noticed which is going to be a big problem coming from Switch - is there any option to swap/change/configure confirm/cancel buttons? A/B on Xbox controller are VERY different to A/B on a Switch controller.
You can connect your switch controller to your PC, though afaik there's still an issue with those not showing up as expected in-game
Btw to be clear my controller doesn't disconnect completely without me interrupting the light becomes yellow it dosen't go off if that may help
I don't have a Switch controller. I use the Hori Split Pad Pro when undocked, and just joycons when docked. But that's also not the problem, it's more the position of "ok/cancel" is completely switched on Xinput vs Switch. Will very frequently accidentally "select" something when I wanted to cancel if the layout flips without an option to prevent it.
I have no idea what just happened, but when i loaded my steam data on switch, and then hit Sync & Save, then reloaded the file, it somehow ended up saving the data of my switch instead of my pc, which at this point i’m scared means “You just lost your 30 run save for a 2 run save congratulations”

Set up cross saves with Epic, and it only loaded part of my 170 run save
I’m missing at least 40 runs on the switch version and since the game auto saves I’m worried it’s saved over

There are 2 things you can do @fair bison :
- If you still have access to your PC and want to keep both saves, you'll need to rename the .sav files on PC to move them to a different slot
- Or, you can choose to keep only one of the saves in that slot (resolving the conflict)

OK, so it sounds like you want to take the 170-run save from Steam then
If you select the load the slot with the '?', it will ask you which save you want to keep
The save you choose in that step will be sent to the cloud
oh for the save file timestamps, there’s three of them and all 3 are dated for 5:33 PM

Yes. If you see the '?' there, when you select that slot it will ask you to resolve the conflict
Epic doesn't have a website in which you can see your cloud saves like this
but Cloud Saves themselves work the same

you can try to force-update it but it may just not have rolled out for you yet -- it can take a little while to propagate globally

@north canopy the saves are stored in the same place on your PC regardless of platform so yes, they should work just fine between Steam and Epic

you need to pick on the Switch main menu if you want to connect to Steam or Epic, and yes you can change that anytime

About the cross saves, i have the game on both switch and steam, and i have saves on both steam and switch, what saves get used if i enable cross saves?
We synchronize the saves on a slot-by-slot basis. If there are saves in the same slot on Switch & PC, you either need to resolve the conflict on the Switch, or move your save files to another slot on PC

Yep! You can also keep both if you have an empty slot, but to do that you need to rename them on PC
On the conflicted slot, you'll see a cloud with a '?' icon. If you try to load the slot it'll give you the choice, and tell you how many runs you have in each save / timestamp etc.

i just bought Hades for switch to use cross saves to play on the go, but i cant do anything on the main menu for some reason, the only buttons i can get to do anything is the home button and the screenshot button, i cant move on the menu or select anything at all, i'm just stuck on the very first menu screen after the loading screen. my controller works fine on the switch home menu and other games, but in Hades i cant do anything at all
What controller are you using? Are you on switch or a switch lite? Does relaunching the game fix it?
relaunching the game didn't fix it, and im using the HORI Split Pad Pro joy cons
i am going to try with normal joy cons and see if it works
Once you load into the menu, I'd try detaching them, then waiting 4 seconds before connecting them wirelessly
If you see the controller connect screen, you should be able to reattach them
Also, if you have two sets of joycons connected it might be the other pair
oh, that was the issue, my pro controller somehow turned itself on and it was trying to be the one in use

narrative achievements should unlock automatically once you play the game. other achievements (such as the hermes trinket) will still need to be done

Once you've successfully used Sync & Quit to upload your save, all you need to do is launch the game on Steam and load the game (the steam client may take some time before starting the game to finish the cloud sync)

Is it normal to lose information in the Permanent Record on Switch? I have 104 escape attempts and the Permanent Record doesn't reflect that many.
I think you may need to toggle God Mode on/off and (possibly) die again in a new run
Oh does it track both if you have God Mode on or off? That would explain it then! The missing data would probably be from when I had God Mode turned on

Yes. For one, make sure Steam cloud is enabled for Hades (Library > Hades > Properties > Updates). If it is, you should be able to see your save files online here: https://store.steampowered.com/account/remotestorage
i updated the game on switch but everytime i press on the play button in the main menu, it says sync failed, check your connection. i can sync from epic games though and they’re on the same connection
Then, if you link your Steam account on the Switch, you should be able to access your save file on Switch. However, there can only be one save file per slot. You can either: 1.) rename your PC save so it takes a different slot, or 2.) choose the 'Cloud' save when it asks you to resolve the conflict on that slot

I would hold down the power button for a few seconds, and then choose Power Options > Restart, then relaunch Hades. Also, how long does it take for you to see the sync error, and what region are you playing in?

awesome, whenever I try to activate cross save on the switch and choose epic, it asks me what to sign in with. I usually sign in with PSN to Epic so I chose that and the switch says the page fails to load. So instead, I just linked my nintendo account to my epic account and tried the same thing, and the switch still says it fails to load.
I have network because i just downloaded the update...not sure what might be wrong.

no i did the new password on my pc, not from the switch
OK, it might take a few minutes for the password reset to work. Once you can log in on PC using email/pass, I expect it'll also work on the switch
so i guess this is the part i don't understand...when i sign in to epic on the pc I use PSN...if I try logging into epic on PC with the same email I use for PSN it says I need to reset my password...it's almost like it's not detecting that email via epic, only via PSN authentication...which I guess makes sense? so I though maybe if I sign up with Epic directly using the same email I used for PSN, that it might link behind the scenes? When I try that, it says my display name is already in use so i'm afraid it might try to treat them separately even if it did work and not carry over my purchaes and stuff.
to clarify, if I try to sign into Epic on PC by saying Epic Games instead of PSN but use the same email as my psn, it gives me the same error as my switch.
So I'm thinking you created your account using a PSN login. It probably logs in using PSN authentication, as you said
I'd try: log in on PC using PSN, then go to your account settings and try to add your email address there

got it to work. Thanks @thick lava! I had to specifically go to the website and request a password reset. Instead of letting it send me one automatically...then it seemed to link up and reset. Then I was able to sign in to the switch and now i'm synced!
I've been having similar problems to some of the other ones posted here (can't get my Epic save over to my switch). Apologies if I missed the answer in this thread, but is there a solution for connecting to Epic from the switch, but then getting "Sync failed. Please check your connection" when I press play? I am currently connected to the internet
so the problem I had @maiden yew wasn't quite what you had but I did run into that when I changed my password for my epic account. you may need to sign out then sign in again to the EGS application on the PC to get that to work

I'm having issues getting my Steam cloud save onto my switch
I managed to link my steam account, but whenever it syncs my cloud save, it seems to be syncing a version of the save from my switch (7 attempts), rather than the version from steam (70+ attempts)
even if I delete that slot, the next time I load the "start game" menu, it syncs down a version of that original save
You should be given an option for which one to keep, do you see a ? near the cloud icon?

@woven gorge no luck. To recap the steps I have taken:
- Linked my Nintendo account to my Epic account on the Epic website
- Reset my epic password
- Logged out and logged back into the Epic game store app
- Loaded up Hades on Epic and made sure my save was uploaded to the cloud
- Restarted my Switch
- Successfully connected to Epic through the cross save section of Hades on Switch
- Go to play section and receive error: "Sync failed. Please check your connection"
I'd try again in a few minutes, sometimes it takes a moment for the password change to go all the way through the system

@static meteor you can go into Documents / Saved Games / Hades and rename each of the files from Profile1.sav (or whatever other file extension) to Profile2.sav (and no worries ^.^)
there will also be Profile1.sjson, so that becomes Profile2.sjson

If you login to someone else's eshop account, you can play their games but only with their account. That means that the save data doesn't get.. well, saved on your own account
I played hades through my friends account because I wasn't sure if I'd like it, then I really liked it and played for 30 hours. I was gonna buy it but the problem is that I'd have to start over again, since I don't have the save data on my own profile. Uploading it to steam, then buying the game and playing it on my own account made it so that I can connect to steam again and get my save data in another profile

I think I found my issue with my controller and why it happened to disconnect in the harder fights and runs... I think somehow (idk its rly strange) by concetrating too much without realising it I move the hit the wire with my middle finger... lol (ofc there is no way you could help with that im just pointing so you know the problem so probably any future convos wont be needed)

After the update the switch has a weird graphical issue. The weapon swing effects now go under certain things in the environment instead of over. It looks really weird and distracting
Also happens with all breakables, and the breakables look really cheap now.
After today's update the game is unplayable, it's laggier than Crysis on win98... I've tried everything on the FAQ and nothing works 😦

you can always copy your Steam files to a secure location on your PC or a USB to make sure it's not lost
after that, you can safely connect to Steam Cross Saves on the Switch and select to keep your cloud save when prompted

Hey, it should be possible to get your PC save data back! The save folder is located at Documents\Saved Games\Hades, first make a backup of it somewhere safe. In it, there should be multiple Profile1 files. Delete files Profile1.sav and Profile1_Temp.sav (that's why you need a backup, in case something goes wrong here). Find the file named Profile1.sav.bak and rename it to Profile1.sav
then, start the game on PC
I didn't test Proton with the Switch Pro controller so I'm not sure whether it's supported unfortunately 😦
so I'm trying to sync my saves on my switch... egs account is connected successfully, but it always fails when trying to sync although I do have an internet connection (i patched hades and other games without issue)

It's my fault for not backing up my PC data before trying to sync it with the cloud.
Probably debug build. While Jenkins server runs inside hades I think. It used to show that path to it, in which Hades runs while some crashes happen in the past.
But idk, for sure without them Hades lose around 1GB so it's better to clear them from public builds
They compress super well so it's not quite that bad (~90%+), but in general I Agree

there are some for the debug build, yeah, those have no purpose there, the ones for the players' build have a purpose at the moment
only narrative achievements are unlocked when you transfer cross saves, per-run achievements have to be unlocked during a run in Steam/Epic

I'm still having trouble with my cross-saved file. Got my PC back early and tried what was suggested to me yesterday but my file is still missing at least 40 runs. I also tried disconnecting my Epic account then reconnecting it, but the save file is still only partial

Hey, kind of a weird thing. I was playing the game using an Xbox controller and I shifted from my Switch so it felt weird, and I started using my Switch Pro controller on Windows. The controls show the proper icons for the switch controller and Steam recognises it as well, but the in-game controls are following the Xbox notation,
Basically (X Y) and (A B ) are switched
@mortal skiff you can toggle "Use Nintendo Button Layout" in Steam to adjust that

@quick coral you can only change slots by renaming the files in Windows on PC -- so it would be much easier to move your PC save to profile 2, though you could do a whole bunch of moving to sync it and then re-arrange how you want
Thats fair, I've just been having some issues where it doesn't seem to register when I rename profile1 to profile2. Maybe because I'm using a mac, or something weird with steam cloud not syncing?
I'd like to report a bug that just happened to me:
I was in the satyr dungeons with Middle Management on, so there were two minibosses, the big bother, and the big serpentstone. I used my Tempest Strike Boon to knock the serpentstone into a corner next to the entry to the level and it kinda glitched behind the wall, where I couldn't attack it but it could attack me
So I just lost a really good run because the enemy was unassailable

great, then try following the instructions under "If Your Game Crashes and You Lose Progress" in #h1-tech-fixes with the various backup files that seem to match the timestamp from your main save
also @dry canopy are you running any anti-virus software by chance? if so, please try disabling it or whitelisting Hades

not that i saw. logged into epic on my switch, it said it had synced my saved. booted the game on my pc, it popped a message to say cross saved enabled and when i hit play still had my pc save, so i went back to my switch where it also then just had my pc save
If you disconnect Epic on your Switch, do you still see the PC save in that slot?
yeah, tried doing this and downloading saved data from the nintendo back ups but you can see specific things you've backed up, and it just said it was backed up so i couldn't download anything

Okay I think I've determined that this thing is reading as two different saves if that makes sense? I moved my big save to profile two on PC, but when I sync my Switch I still get that weird partial save in the Profile 1 spot, with nothing in Profile 2

oh it seems I have a similar issue. twitter SGG account has sent me here, and my issue is that PC save file which I moved from slot 1 to slot 4 doesn't show on switch, even though switch keeps telling me that synchronizing process is smooth, and everything. I'll add a photo, I hope it can be seen that the first three save files are similar on both switch and PC, but the fourth one (which was the 1st on PC and was renamed by me to the 4th) isn't there at all on switch

Hey guys dont know if this is a hades issue or a switch issue but my switch is telling me when I go to sync cross save data that the sync failed and to check my connection. Im connected to the epic store and My Switch is connected to the internet as far as the test in settings shows. any ideas?
I also just realized that it might be my save data from before the 1.0 patch so that might have something to do with it

Hello, the game has been unplayable since the patch on PC. So much lag I can't do anything :(

When you moved your save slot, did you also copy & rename the Profile1.v.sav and Profile1_Temp.sav?
Make sure the user account you're using on Switch is connected to a valid Nintendo Account, then restart your Switch.

Tried turning all syncing off, nintendo cloud auto back up off, and redownload if the game on switch to see if the old save was somewhere on the console but no luck. Think it’s probably just gone, ah well.

yes, everything is there, there's like 16 profile4 files, and the 4th slot appears perfectly on PC, just not on switch

Might be. I can check your cloud_log.txt and see if anything else might be going wrong. That's in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\logs

Hi, I'm also trying to transfer my switch save to PC. I saw the post on Twitter and tried that. I essentially want to delete my steam save and transfer my switch save but it seems i cannot delete the profile. It requires me to start a new profile to overwrite the previous one. But that defeats the purpose.
Is there anything I can delete from the game files to keep it from reloading the save file?
The way to do this is to log in to Steam on your Switch, then click Play. You should see a '?' in the save slot. By loading that save it will bring up a dialog that will ask you which file you want to keep
@stray elm I attempted the steps posted by Ian Rapport and am still receiving the sync failed error
If you delete the save file (the actual files) while the game is open, then close it, the steam cloud should register that

no, it doesn't work, sadly, I've restarted the game a couple of times, I checked a couple more rooms in Asphodel, to refresh my save file, and then I restarted Steam again. it doesn't want to properly save my 4th save file in its cloud, I assume. I will give it some time, maybe it's their inner issue with their servers (?) I will be back later with updates on my problem, I guess
If the internet connection is good, and they already restarted their switch, I don't have another suggestion right now

If I’ve sort of resigned myself to my save being gone, what’s the best way to ensure the crosssave stuff is set up properly for a new save. Start again in a new slot on pc, then link to switch?

hi, been playing Hades with ttle issues for about a week (45 or so hours) and yesterday i was playing, then quit for a few hours, went to play again and now my FPS is laggy as hell
any suggestions?
My issue was solved. After repeatedly deleting and renaming the profiles after they reloaded, at some point steam got the memo and I saw my switch profile on pc

I'd try to load your profile2 on PC in EGS, advance one room (or change rooms in the House of Hades) and then try Sync & Quit
then, on Switch, back out of the Play menu and reopen it and it should download your Profile2, assuming the upload from PC worked
Cross save question: Household owns Hades through Epic Game Store on PC, multiply users play it with their own profiles. We've only been able to update the game (or launch it through EPS) with the account that purchased it. Will the Switch only connect to the epic account that purchased the game, or can we connect it to any account?
when you say "own profiles" are you referring to windows users, save slots, epic accounts...?
And each windows user has a separate epic account, or is the epic account shared?
And on the Switch, do you have separate user accounts (e.g. one for each windows user)?

To be clear, no one plays on someone else's Epic account. The two that don't have the game purchased in their Epic Store have to launch it through the directory.
@hushed garnet So each Switch user account can link to a separate Epic (or steam) account. For the two that don't have the game purchased, they'd need to share an Epic account (and share save slots), or buy the game in order to cross-save
So for the two people who are playing on PC they probably need to rename their saves in windows to move it to profile 3 or 4 (assuming the EGS account holders aren't using all 4 slots)
Mkay, so the saves that can be accessed have to be linked to an Epic (or Steam) account and any PC saves that are not linked to an account can't be shared to the Switch.

And to be clear, y'all at Supergiant have been terrific with your support. The issues we've had trying to enjoy the game with multiple users is an issue laid solidly at the feet of Epic, not you. ^_^
If we did buy another copy through Steam would there be any issues moving save files that were generated from a copy of the game that was purchased from Epic to the version purchased through Steam?
The save files are compatible, so there should be no issue there. Though steam cloud works slightly differently, so you wouldn't want two separate windows users logged in to the same steam account

Is it just me... I am having some trouble about hades flickering to a black screen for like a second or 2 once in a while, it is not constant, it just happens at random moment and when it happens at hades fight... Really annoying, started experiencing this for 2-3 weeks, before that never had any problems...

Re: the video, yeah we're aware of some sorting/graphical issues like that. We try to fix as many as we can. As for the cross-saves option on Steam, all you need to do is make sure Steam Cloud is enabled in Library > Hades > Properties > Updates -- then your files should automatically download before launching the game, and upload when closing the game
On Switch, in order to upload to Steam you need to load a save slot and then Sync & Quit from the pause menu

Hi, question about cross saves: I linked my switch and steam accounts, but only see switch saves and not steam saves (when playing on switch). How do I get my steam saves? and is there a possibility for switch saves to overwrite my steam progress? thanks
If you linked for the first time, when you get to the Play menu you should see a '?' icon on any of the save slots that also have steam saves
If you see that icon, press A on it and it will ask you which save you want to keep (overwriting the other)
If you want to keep both, you'll need to rename your save files on PC to change the save slot

So long as you're playing only on one platform at a time, you should be OK. In some cases you might need to resolve a conflict again

Thanks, yes so last night I finally updated my switch to allow the cloud save progress to kick in. My steam save is my biggest file with over 199 hours on it. linked the accounts and was playing my steam save last night on my switch
after turning on my pc on break to check some stuff on my game i noticed that it showed my old switch progress with only 10 runs on it
my switch save progress somehow over ride my steam progress
still couldn't manage to get my switch to sync, always says failed 😭
When you finished playing last night (on Switch) did you Sync & Quit?
no I just turned off the switch
Also, I suspect you may have a backup save on PC still (those don't cloud save). I'd look around for a Profile1.sav.bak or .bak1, .bak2
i found those and replaced profile1.sav it was last updated on dec 14th
but the other files are updated as of today
i even download my steam save from the cloud on steam.com
switch save file still over rides it but yeah didnt officially do the transfer until last night

When you are available and on your PC, could you please start the game and go into the Play/Profiles menu and then quit? And send me the Hades.log file?
The ones showing 12:00 were my break when i tried getting on and seeing my switch save.
Hi, I was playing on the Switch this morning and I was in a fight against the tag team. Mid fight I had a freeze. The sound and everything just stopped. I waited and no button press did anything except the home button. I got back into the game and waited. Nothing happened so I shrugged and closed the game. When I reopened the game my save was gone. To provide some context I got the game on Epic Games Store and played a bit but stopped while more was being added to the game. The last time I had played was June of this year on that platform. I bought the game on switch when it released and played through it where I was going onto my 8th or 9th clear. When I reloaded hades on the switch after the freeze my switch save (which I had synced to the server earlier this week) was gone and the only thing there was my epic games save for some reason. This, as it loaded, synced to the cloud. I hoped, after turning the game off, that there was a local save on my pc Epic games version. That was also the only save for me to lose when I got on my PC. I am hoping my switch save is somewhere but I’m not sure how to handle this situation. Thanks for any possible help.
Initially (after connecting epic) it seems to be trying to sync for about 4 seconds. afterwards any time I press play it says failed after 2 seconds

You need to have a free open save spot on your steam
rename your cloud profile - profile(#) with # representing 1,2,3 or 4 then load the game
this will create a new save
with all the old data

You might need to reenter the admin chamber on PC to proc the achievement. Though, loading the save should be enough to unlock them

Any Narrative achievements should unlock automatically, or by retriggering. Any other ones (such as Hermes' trinket) you'll need to redo if you've already done it

OK, so right now you have a conflict on that slot. Press A on that slot and it will ask you which save you want to keep. In this case, you want to pick 'Cloud' since that's your 50 hr save. (The dialog will show information about each save file)

i think i screwed it up because after linking them, I opened my hades on steam and it now contains the switch save file
so local and cloud are the same 20 min save file

But on your Switch, you said you see a cloud-with-question-mark. What are the options it gives you when you interact with that slot?

Out of these 3 files, which one am i renaming?
· On macOS, use Finder’s Go > Go To Folder menu and navigate to ~/Library/Application Support/Supergiant Games/Hades
· Sort by 'Date modified' to locate your most recent save matching one of these names (assuming you use Save Slot 1): Profile1_Temp.sav, Profile1_Temp.sav.bak, or Profile1.sav.bak
· Rename that file to Profile1.sav
· Then open the Play menu in-game and look for the save.
Whichever one (and this includes all 7-8 .sav.bak files) is the most recent
Make sure to move or rename the original Profile1.sav first

Hello. Having trouble with cross saves. On my switch I get the error message "Failed to link to Steam account. Cross-saves disabled." This is after I log in to my steam account and then put in the Steam security code I received via email.
